IAN GOTHE Shares New Single and Video Ahead of Debut Album Release

IAN GOTHE
SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO
“TAKE ME HOME”
IN ADVANCE OF DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7
VIA BLACKBIRD RECORD LABEL
LOS ANGELES RECORD RELEASE SHOW
FOR ‘MEMENTO’
SET FOR SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8
AT HOTEL CAFÉ (HOLLYWOOD)

Los Angeles-based acoustic guitarist-singer-songwriter IAN GOTHE has shared a new music video for the third single, the compellingly intimate” Take Me Home,” from his debut solo album MEMENTO, due out this Friday, February 7 via the California-based Blackbird Record Label. The video debuted yesterday, February 5, via American Songwriter.
IAN has also announced a record release show at Hotel Café in Hollywood this Saturday, February 8 where he’ll perform songs from MEMENTO which includes his two previous singles and videos: “Blood on The Rooftops in Montrose” and “Spanish Caravan.” “Blood on The Rooftops in Montrose” is IAN‘s homage to guitarist Steve Hackett of Genesis, while his interpretation of The Doors’ “Spanish Caravan” was originally premiered via Guitar Player and prompted The Doors‘ guitarist Robby Krieger to say: “I love it! It’s tough to cover Doors songs because the originals are so iconic. But Ian wasn’t afraid to stick to the original format and did a great job of capturing the feel. There’s a new flamenco/rock movement happening now in Europe–maybe Ian will lead the way!”
IAN‘s latest video “Take Me Home” was filmed with director Martin Yernazian in different locations in SoCal including Montrose (where he currently resides), Flintridge, Glendale, Burbank and Pasadena. IAN sings the song entirely in Armenian reflecting his history being born and raised in Iran to an Armenian family until he was 14, after which he travelled across various continents until relocating permanently in Los Angeles.
“I wrote ‘Take Me Home’ as an anthem for one of the defining questions of my life, ‘Where do I belong?'” shares IAN. “As I was grappling with emotions suspended in a loss devoid of closure, ‘Take Me Home’ grew to become an ethereal journey through dreams, memories, and imagined futures.
“The moment in the video when I kneel in the cemetery,” elaborates IAN, “is meant to underscore the role of loss in fueling the human drive to belong, and the sojourn throughout the video taps into the desire to escape that we all have at some point, knowing full well that the mind, soul, heart, and pain will follow. Employing the metaphor of dream and the fairytale beauty of the Armenian landscape that is a reflection of what I imagine to be my soul’s home, I worked to create a tale that captures the universal experience of longing to uncover a sense of being, all while again losing that which never existed.
“With this song,” IAN adds, “I attempted to create a space to contemplate loss and question the uncomfortable ambiguity of existence. By painting a picture of dreams and a desire to find home with enough textures and colors, my hope is that listeners can contemplate their own journeys.”

IAN GOTHE – “Take Me Home” Official Music Video
“TAKE ME HOME” Lyrics (translated to English)
Written by Ian Gothe
Come and take me far away
Take me to Yerevan
Come and take me to Goris
Then on to Tatev Monastery
In my dreams, I saw a verdant vineyard
Azure cloud-laced skies in Lake Sevan

An endless field of wildflowers
And a morning drenched in shimmering light
An imperfect melody
An apathetic time
The whimsical wind is beckoning me
The strings of the kanun are singing your song

Take me, take me far
Take me home
Take me, take me far
Take me home

Treasured memories, days of old
Bring the red wine, let it flow
The waves of the river overflow
Like my soul runs to and fro
Carefree thoughts adorn the starry night
Round and round you dance in my head

Take me, take me far
Take me home
Take me, take me far
Take me home

“I am a phoenix I flew out of the fire
Took me for dead, but I rose even higher
Even higher
Oh came back again
Back again
Oh, rose from the dead”
Heather Anne Lomax, “All This Time” song

HEATHER ANNE LOMAX (formerly known as the artist Michael-Ann) has spent the greater part of the past decade putting her own spin on the Americana and Country-Rock/Blues genre. A strikingly authentic and fearless artist who’s based in Los Angeles and hails from Kansas City, MissouriHEATHER has announced plans to self-release her sophomore album ALL THIS TIME on May 1. Yesterday, February 4, she premiered the new single “Better Luck” via American Songwriter“One of the most expressive vocalists around, she combines the sweet folky purity of Joan Baez with the rocking soul of Janis Joplin with hints of Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt,” noted the magazine’s Paul Zollo.

“Better Luck” is an explosive song about self-affirmation and strength, set to a mix of acoustic/electric guitars and soaring fiddle work with an insistent percussive groove and vocal chants. HEATHER instantly paints the picture: “Got a rocket/In my back pocket/Full of wishes/Better luck next time.” She says: “I just had the vision of carrying a bottle rocket in my back pocket when I was a kid in the Midwest. My brother and I used to have bottle rocket wars with our neighbors. It’s symbolic about the launching of hope, and how sometimes the rocket’s path can derail but still creates a spectacular explosion in the air.”

The album features 11 original tracks–recorded with the sonics of Elvis Presley‘s “Sun Sessions” and the American Sound Studios “From Elvis In Memphis” in mind–by producer/mixer Jason Hiller and was mastered at Lurssen Mastering by Reuben Cohen and Gavin Lurssen. HEATHER also enlisted an all-star team of renowned musicians to guest on the album including Zachary Ross, Ty Bailie, Ben Peeler-Weissenborn, Aubrey Richmond, David Goodstein, Chris Joyner, Rob Humphreys, Rosa Pullman-Wurlitzer, Maesa Pullman, Ronee Martin, John “JT” Thomas, and Danielle Fife.

Look for HEATHER to open for the legendary soul artist Aaron Neville on March 14 at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA. Last month she brought her firepower opening for soul titans War at The Canyon in Santa Clarita, CA. More tour dates will soon be announced.

HEATHER‘s last record, Heavy Load (2014), under her previous name Michael-Ann, was voted one of the Top 10 Americana Records from Los Angeles by Turnstyle, Junkpiled Roots Music Magazine and won Robert Oermann‘s ‘DisCovery of the Week Award‘ by Music Row magazine in Nashville. She has received numerous features across music publications including LA Music Examiner, Music News Nashville, and Lonesome Highway and has opened shows across the country for acts such as Wynonna and The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, Blood Sweat & Tears and War.

As the song goes, HEATHER ANNE LOMAX was “born in the wagon of a travellin’ show.” She has always known she was adopted, and after years of searching, she found her birth family. HEATHER discovered that she had been born into a lineage of both artistic and musical family members. She is related to the late radio sports broadcaster Stan Lomax of WOR NY, cousin to the well-known ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax; her mother was an artist and a musician, and her grandmother was on Broadway. And so, like the prodigal daughter, she returned to her original birth name, HEATHER ANNE LOMAX.

Mongolian Rock Sensation THE HU Announce 2020 U.S. Tour and Festival Dates

DT:      FEBRUARY 5, 2020

FM:     KELLY WALSH / MITCH SCHNEIDER

FOLLOWING THEIR MASSIVE GLOBAL DEBUT IN 2019,
THE HU ANNOUNCES NEW U.S. FESTIVAL AND HEADLINE DATES STARTING APRIL 10TH AT COACHELLA
MONGOLIAN ROCK SENSATION’S CURRENT SINGLE
“YUVE YUVE YU (FEAT. FROM ASHES TO NEW)” IS CURRENTLY
#8 ON THE ACTIVE ROCK CHARTS

Mongolian rock sensation THE HU–who ended 2019 with a 75% sold-out North American tour in support of their debut album, THE GEREG (Better Noise Music)–has announced a new U.S. headlining tour. Starting on April 10 at Coachella in Indio, CA, the tour will take them through May 24 in Dallas, TX. This will follow the band’s current sold-out European/UK run.

“We’re so excited by the reaction to our performances and tours everywhere. Our fans are the best and we are humbled by their overwhelming support.   We can’t wait to return to the USA and perform at Coachella and so many other great festivals and venues.” – The Hu

THE HU’s current single “Yuve Yuve Yu (feat. From Ashes To New)” is currently at #8 and rising on the Active Rock Charts. The success of the single is a ‘win’ for diversity in the Rock genre as a whole, with lyrics primarily in Mongolian.

THE HU has been making waves across the globe with many sold-out shows and festival appearances presenting their signature brand of “hunnu rock“–a one-of-a-kind mixture of Western rock music combined with traditional Mongolian instrumentation and throat-singing sung in their native language.

The impact they made in 2019 worldwide is also evident in the critical acclaim and year-end best-of lists that THE GEREG appeared on. Loudwire listed THE GEREG among its Top Albums of 2019 and Revolver Magazine included the band’s video for “The Great Chinggis Khaan” among their Top 10 of the year. In the UK THE GEREG placed among Top Albums of 2019 in Classic Rock and Metal Hammer magazines.

“With so bracing a combination of sights and sounds, the Hu have been forging a highly improbable connection between the complexities of traditional Mongolian music and the 10-ton force of western metal,” wrote Jim Farber in The Guardian (10/22/19).

SRO PR TO CELEBRATE 25th ANNIVERSARY IN FEBRUARY AND UNVEILS NEW WEBSITE

DATE:            JANUARY 30, 2020

FROM:           MITCH SCHNEIDER/MARCEE RONDAN

SRO PR TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY IN FEBRUARY

COMPANY DEBUTS NEW WEBSITE
TO REFLECT RECENT REBRANDING TO SRO FROM MSO

As SRO (Schneider Rondan Organization) gets ready to mark its 25th anniversary in February, the PR company with headquarters in Los Angeles and an office in Nashville has debuted its new website: SROPR.COM.

The site reflects activity that started in June 2019 when MSO PR rebranded as SRO PR with the promotion of Marcee Rondan from Executive Vice President to Partner, an announcement that was made by the company’s Founder and Partner, Mitch Schneider. The SRO site includes a link to the MSO site where press releases are archived since 1996, when MSO became the first independent music publicity firm to have its own website.

“So honored and proud to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary,” says Schneider. “We continue to be lit up with legendary and new artists as well as music festivals and events. We’re very fortunate that our work has included campaigns for boundary-pushing artists Tash Sultana, Ice Nine Kills, The HU and Amigo The Devil. And it has been truly exciting to see Ozzy Osbourne collaborate with Post Malone and Travis Scott and reach new audiences.”

“With the new decade, and the celebration of our 25 years, this seems like the perfect time for a new look for our online presence,” Rondan adds. “We’re looking forward to what the future holds for SRO, while also celebrating our accomplishments with the breadth of artists that have brought us here.”

SRO has been at the forefront of many notable campaigns over the past 25 years. Here are a few memorable ones:

  • OZZY OSBOURNE: The rock icon, still relevant and compelling after all these years, just landed the #1 Rock Song in the country with his current single Under The Graveyardfrom his upcoming album, ORDINARY MAN. The beginnings of the company’s relationship with OZZY go all the way back to 1987.
  • DAVID BOWIE: From the MSO press release: “I have no idea where I’m going from here, but I promise I won’t bore you,” said DAVID BOWIE onstage at his sold-out 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in New York (1/9/97) right before he released his EARTHLING album. The company handled the legend from 1991-2012. To view this press release at the original MSO site, follow the link, scroll to Bowie’s name in the artist directory and click on the 1/13/97 release.
  • HEART: Rock and Roll of Fame inductees ANN and NANCY WILSON gloriously returned to the spotlight with their massive “Love Alive” cross-country summer tour after a three-year hiatus from touring. The roots of our relationship with the iconic and pioneering sisters go back to 1987.
  • TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: During a long relationship with the rock legends, which ran from 1987-2004, we asked PETTY to talk about all the songs on the band’s 1993 GREATEST HITS album. Company founder Mitch Schneider interviewed him at his Encino home, just a half mile from where the SRO office is today. Read the Q&A at SRO‘s spin-off website, Raise The Question.
  • DOLLY PARTON: SRO in Los Angeles and Nashvillewas proud to work with the woman who needs no introduction; it was a five-year run that started with the 2007’s BACKWOODS BARBIE album. It marked the first release on Dolly Records and was launched with “Better Get To Livin’,” a classic kick-in-the-pants inspirational.
  • AEROSMITH: During a long relationship with the band (intermittently from 1988-2015), we came up with the idea to have their original Commonwealth Ave apartment declared a historic landmark in Boston. Tens of thousands of cheering fans turned out, with the city closing the streets down and suspending trolley service in the area (since the trolley runs in front of the apartment). It was one of the biggest events ever in Boston.
  • KORN: When we handled the trendsetting, Grammy-winning modern rock icons, we came up with the idea to have the press conference announcing the See You On The Other Side” tour take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2005. The band of course arrived in a hearse and the party that followed took place in a mausoleum. Axl Rose, in what was his first public sighting in years, attended.
  • SEX PISTOLS: MSO handled the band’s reunion in 1996 and continued with them through 2007 including their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, which they defiantly did not attend. We asked JOHNNY ROTTEN for some quotes to explain the band’s position; he promptly scrawled out a classic note complete with deliberate misspellings that we released to the media. See the note here.
  • FESTIVALS: Throughout the company’s history, the SRO team has been fortunate to be a part of some historic moments in U.S. festival history including, the launch of Coachella in 1999 (through 2011); the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans from 2005-2013, including the pivotal event in 2005 that was a part of the city’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina; and the inaugural Kind Festival in Desert Hot Springs in 2019, the first ever cannabis-friendly music festival.

SRO PR maintains offices in Los Angeles and Nashville, the latter of which is headed by Lyndie Wenner. With its iconic and cutting-edge artist roster–and its representation of internationally heralded music festivals, tours, events and companies–the company has the eyes and ears of America’s exuberant music fans. Ithas been hailed as a “bonafide taste maker” (L.A. Weekly, 2010) and by Music Connection (May 2019) as “one of the world’s premier public relations firms. The MSO roster is eclectic and encompassing. It includes various styles and genres, superstars, musical legends, festivals, award shows and emerging artists. That diversity enables MSO to obtain coverage in multiple outlets and mediums, from underground to mainstream.”

Melodic Dark Folk Artist IVA TORIC Unveils Debut Video Single “Dark Side Of Me”

DT: JANUARY 15, 2020
FM: KELLY WALSH
MELODIC DARK FOLK ARTIST
IVA TORIC
UNVEILS DEBUT MUSIC VIDEO SINGLE
“DARK SIDE OF ME”
SHARES DETAILS ON FORTHCOMING DEBUT ALBUM
‘THE DEVIL’S MARK’ IN EXCLUSIVE Q&A

Hailing from San Francisco, CA, IVA TORIC is truly a one-woman force to be reckoned with. She combines her multi-instrumental talents with haunting melodic/symphonic vocals over dark folk and doom-laden riffs on her debut single “Dark Side of Me.” The ethereal music video was premiered exclusively with KERRANG earlier this week (TuesdayJanuary 14) which lauded it as a “syncretic approach to dark culture, mixing the organic darkness of Uada, the psychedelic hues of Soundgarden, and the goth elegance of Maria Brink.” Drawing from various aspects of modern paganism and witchcraft, IVA TORIC will self-release her debut album THE DEVIL’S MARK this fall.

“I wrote “Dark Side of Me” about my lifelong struggle with chronic depression and how sometimes I find myself desperately fighting off dark thoughts as they creep uninvited into my consciousness,” reveals IVA. “The lyrics are honest and raw, and for anybody who has struggled with their own mental health, self-esteem or body image, you’ll find a part of yourself gazing back at you from within this song.”
“I’ve always loved dark witchy imagery,” IVA says. “I relate to the earthbound connections and message from that belief system. It is a unique counterculture belief that appeals to me.”

Q&A WITH IVA TORIC
What inspired you to become a musician? Who are some of your biggest influences?

I have always been drawn to music, so I think I would have ended up being a musician one way or another but growing up poor had a big impact. My family didn’t have the means to buy music, so all I had was the radio. If I liked a song and wanted to hear it again, I had to either wait for it to come on again, or I had to learn it so I could play it myself. I learned to listen very carefully to music as a child so I could recreate it later on my keyboard. That provided a foundation for my more formal music education later in my life.
My influences are wide. I grew up listening to 90s rock and alternative on the radio. Alice In Chains has always been a favorite of mine–I love their unique harmonies. I also like 70s and 80s rock and that gave me a taste for more progressive sounds. Once I was able to download music and trade burned CDs with friends I got into metal. So, what comes out when I write is a product of everything I’ve heard throughout my life. It’s definitely not something I can point to and say, “that’s where I got my sound.”

Your first single is titled “Dark Side of Me,” how did you pick this to be the first music people hear from you on this project? What is the overall theme?

I wanted people to hear something dark and deeply personal from me for my debut. I put a lot of myself into my lyrics and I hope that authenticity shines through in this first single and draws people in to want to hear more.
I wrote ‘Dark Side of Me’ about my lifelong struggle with chronic depression and how sometimes I find myself desperately fighting off dark thoughts as they creep uninvited into my consciousness. The lyrics are honest and raw, and for anybody who has struggled with their own mental health, self-esteem, or body image, you’ll find a part of yourself gazing back at you from within this song.

When people hear your music, what message do you want them to take from it?

I want people to know they are not alone. I want people to feel connected to my music and find their own meanings within my lyrics.

Tell us about your songwriting process. Do you have a special routine? What outside influences do you use for inspiration?

My songwriting process isn’t a set routine and it depends on what is going on in my life and whether I’m writing with other people or not.
For DSOM, I wrote it alone at my keyboard, and I wrote the lyrics and the music at the same time. This isn’t always how it goes. Sometimes I write lyrics first and put them to music later. Sometimes I write music first. It’s all organic for me and I try to remain open and flexible and let the music come to me.

To write, I use my life or current events. Sometimes I use stories others have told me. As long as it’s something I can tap into and put myself in the story, I’ll use it. DSOM was like a journal entry. It’s all coming from deep within me.

The video for “Dark Side of Me” is very ethereal with pagan/wiccan occult references, do you relate to this belief system? Was there anything special about the location where it was filmed?

I’ve always loved dark witchy imagery. Anything that’s against mainstream and unique appeals to me.
I wanted the video to have a nature element, so we found this beautiful spot north of LA with lots of dead branches and a dry creek bed and we brought in a lovely old crow to be part of the magic. I think the location made the video super special.

What can listeners expect to hear from your future singles/upcoming album?

More dark, personal lyrics. More haunting melodies. More fallen angel vocals. More heavy guitars and driving bass. More technically bad ass drums. More sick keys. The album is full of this plus some great songwriting from amazing co-writers. It’s a wonderful album and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

Is there anything else you want to add?

Just that I’m honored to be here. I’ve worked hard for many years to make this happen and I’m finally realizing my dream. It feels right.

“There is no shortage of thrilling heavy rock,” declared Cryptic Rock in their 4/5-star review. “Davey Suicide’s overall sound resides in an epicenter of eclectic inspirations ranging from Wednesday 13 to Marilyn Manson and the resulting sound is just as savage.”

Featuring 13 tracks of their signature blend of arena rock, sleaze, and industrial music with a theatrical edge, ROCK AINT DEAD was mixed and produced by Charles Kallaghan Massabo (Falling In Reverse) while being mastered by Shawn McGhee (Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Hellyeah). The album includes guest appearances from Telle Smith (The Word Alive), Hyro The Hero and Lexus Amanda (Blacklisted Me).

Prog rock pioneers and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees YES have announced a run of spring U.S. headline tour dates March 19-25 leading into their annual Cruise to the Edge (March 27-April 1) sailing out of Miami. At shows in Florida and South Carolina, the band will perform their classic hits and be joined by the Alan Parsons Live Project. Tickets for these dates–a precursor to the band’s North American fall tour, to be announced in the months ahead–go on sale to the public on Friday, January 24 at 10:00am ET.

YES is Steve Howe (guitar-joined 1970), Alan White (drums since 1972), Geoff Downes (keyboards; first joined in 1980), Jon Davison (vocals since 2011) and Billy Sherwood (guitar/keyboards in the 1990s and the late Chris Squire’s choice to take over bass/vocals in 2015), with Jay Schellen on additional drums.

“We can’t think of a better way to lead into our ‘Cruise To The Edge’ than with five shows in the Southeast,” says Steve Howe. Alan White concurs: “Florida and South Carolina in the spring sounds absolutely perfect for a British band like us. We look forward to seeing everyone for a night of YES music.”

YES continues to deliver dynamic and unforgettable performances full of passion and musical virtuosity, with songs that expanded the boundaries of rock. Below is critical praise from last year’s North American tour.

“As always, YES put on a magical show and took the crowd on a journey through their hits.”
–Alex Kluft, Music Connection, 8/5/19

“Yes closed out the evening with a brilliant set filled with energetic deep cuts…they focused on material that played to the group’s strengths, and gave guitarists Steve Howe a chance to shine.  Vocally, Jon Davison has come into his own… He also looks like he is having a great time and is able to work the stage with ease. The Yes set closed with the 20 minute-plus ‘Gates of Delirium,’ from their Relayer album. It was an ambitious undertaking, but they nailed it. The evening closed with a moving version of ‘Imagine,’ a song that Yes drummer Alan White played on Lennon’s studio version of, and ‘Roundabout.’
–Thom Jennings, Niagara Gazette(Niagara Falls, NY), 6/26/19

“Yes, meanwhile, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its first album with a kind of kitchen-sink setlist, tossing plenty of rarities, and oddities, into its hour and 50 minutes on stage — opening with its rocking take of Richie Havens’ ‘No Opportunity Necessary…’ from its 1970 album Time and A Word and then tearing through ‘Tempus Fugit.’ The marquee moment was its longest, however — the 22-minute epic ‘Gates of Delirium’ from 1974’s Relayer album, performed for the first time in 18 years, whose lengthy instrumental passage was delivered with a virtuosic precision that held up to the original. Yes sent everyone home with more favorites – ‘Roundabout’ and ‘Starship Trooper,’ …Nostalgia reigned in this Royal Affair, but it was a glorious kind of past that fully merited the celebration.”
–Gary Graff, The Oakland Press (Oakland, MI), 7/4/19

“…Yes came on and kicked off with their version of ‘No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed’ before jumping into a wide mix of material from ‘Tempus Fugit’ and ‘Going For the One’ to ‘I’ve Seen All Good People’ and ‘Siberian Khatru.’ They have decided to mix things up more on this tour and the fans surely seemed thrilled by the choices. Following a rousing rendition of ‘America’ the band closed the main set with ‘The Gates of Delirium’ from Relayer.”
“The band sounded great and had brilliant visuals to accompany the songs. Sherwood’s bass playing is perfectly suited to capture the essence of the late Chris Squire while Geoff Downes and Steve Howe are still at the top of their games. Vocalist Jon Davison has definitely settled into to his role and looks extremely comfortable on stage, hitting each note with ease. Meanwhile, Drummer Jay Schellen swapped drum duties with Alan White throughout the set. The band returned for the encore to perform John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ on which Alan White originally played the drums. It was a wonderful version. Of course, they then closed with ‘Roundabout’ and ‘Starship Trooper.'”
–Roie Avin, The Prog Report, 7/15/19

…[the]revved-up crowd went wild when the members of Yes came out to close the night of historic prog…Davison does an incredible job of duplicating the alto tenor range of original band vocalist Jon Anderson. The other musicians played with such precision that it was almost like hearing the studio albums again. Howe was particularly impressive playing various electric guitars, a steel guitar and a lute. His solo acoustic guitar performance of ‘Clap’ from The Yes Album nearly stole the show.”
–Andy Gordon, Glide Magazine, 7/30/2019

“…wild applause from the crowd…unique night of rock music history that has endured for half a century.”
–L. Paul Mann, Grateful Web, 8/6/19

“…Yes proved again that they are, after all these years, still the kings of progressive rock.”
–Charlie Steffens, Vintage Rock, 8/5/19

“For more than 45 years, Yes has been writing and performing multi-faceted songs that are intricate, graceful and always technically savvy. No matter the decade, the concert experience has never been about loud distortion or pent up aggression. Rather, the arcane lyrics and sounds take fans on an aggrandized musical journey into the surreal. Though the band has gone through several personnel changes in their 20 album career, one things has always remained the same – a commitment to excellence by every member who has played an instrument or sang into a microphone. Along for the ride was singer Jon Davison, guitarist Steve Howe, drummer Alan White, keyboardist Geoff Downes and bassist Billy Sherwood with drummer Jay Schellen.”
Big Shot Concerts, 7/25/19

“Yes’s 12-song, hour-and-45-minute set was more of a departure than Yes has shown in recent years. Kicking off with the opening track from 1970’s Time and A Word album, ‘No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed,’ was welcomed with open arms by long time fans of the iconic band. The six-minute ‘Tempus Fugit’ followed and was an absolute treat…Howe, now 72, seemed especially invigorated – while playing his 1971 solo piece ‘Clap,’ he lifted a leg, then kicked it, and shook his head and body as the crowd gleefully cheered him on… An 11-minute ‘Siberian Khatru’ may have received a standing ovation, but the audience was truly rewarded when classic Yes drummer Alan White joined the band for an especially stellar version of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘America.'”

Boston horror-inspired metal band ICE NINE KILLS have successfully raised over $54,000 (AUD) following an overwhelming response to their limited-edition exclusive t-shirt sale that took place earlier this month to help aid the Australian wildfire relief efforts. Profits from the sale are being donated equally between Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Warriorsa non-profit organization founded by the late Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri Irwin, to aid in the protection of injured, threatened or endangered wildlife-and the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery.

ICE NINE KILLS recently made their inaugural appearance in Australia in December of last year as part of the Good Things Festival (Sydney), along with a handful of headlining gigs in Brisbane and Melbourne.

For over a decade, ICE NINE KILLS has built a thrilling new world for their band and their growing legion of fans with their horror-inspired soundtracks and theatrical live performances which invoke the characters in the horror movies they allude to. The band achieved a career highlight with their hit single “A Grave Mistake” landing in the Top 10 Active Mainstream Rock Radio charts, in addition to be named as one of SiriusXM’s ‘Future Five’ Breakthrough Artists of 2019. Following a world tour in support of their critically acclaimed 2018 effort via Fearless Records which has surpassed 100,000 sales to date, ICE NINE KILLS released The Silver Scream: Final Cut last October which features guest appearances from iconic figures in both the metal and horror world alike, along with their own full-length horror feature film starring vocalist Spencer Charnas. The band will continue to tour across North America and the UK/EU throughout 2020 alongside acts includingPapa Roach, Hollywood Undead, Five Finger Death Punch and I Prevail and at several of the largest U.S. rock festivals.

“You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!”
–David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD–the legendary rock & roll powerhouse–is extremely excited to be touring in 2020 and marking a 51-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2019, Grand Funk‘s 2020 “Some Kind Of Wonderful Tour” will continue to reach both new and long-time fans.  Check the band’s website for the preliminary dates for Grand Funk‘s 2020 “Some Kind Of Wonderful Tour” with more to be announced: https://www.grandfunkrailroad.com/tour.html

Named in honor of their 1975 Billboard pop smash, the 40-date “Some Kind Of Wonderful Tour” will start in Lincoln, Rhode Island on February 8. Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top-selling American rock group of the 70’s is “Comin’ To Your Town To Help You Party It Down.” They’ve achieved 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales exceeding 25 million copies sold worldwide. Watch the tour trailer here and read a Q&A with the band’s Don Brewer below.

Known as “The American Band,” the high-energy five-piece group GRAND FUNK RAILROAD includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, “We’re An American Band”) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s biggest hit “Second Chance” and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet.” Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim,” his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk‘s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape 50 years after is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega-hits “We’re An American Band,” “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home,” “Locomotion,” and “Some Kind Of Wonderful” still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. “We’re An American Band” has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie soundtracks and in television/radio advertising. The huge hit was featured in a General Motors national TV ad campaign and in Disney’s animated feature film The Country Bears. “We’re An American Band” was featured in the Cuba Gooding Jr. film Radio, and in the swash buckler Sahara starring Matthew McConaughey.

Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles (“We’re An American Band” and “Locomotion,” both selling more than one million each). The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales exceeding 25 million copies sold worldwide. The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad the Collectors Series.

The multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and creates a new chapter in the legacy of Grand Funk Railroad. GFR drew 25,000 people to their Molson Canal Series Concert outside Buffalo, 20,000 in Albany, New York, and 20,000 fans to downtown Orlando, Florida. EMI/Capitol (Universal Music) released a new Grand Funk Greatest Hits package that includes a bonus DVD of rare concert footage. Grand Funk Railroad’s 2019 50 Years Of Funk Tour” was a huge success and now, with the group’s 2020 “Some Kind Of Wonderful Tour,” seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate 50 Years of Funk with Grand Funk Railroad.

Q&A with Don Brewer:

Have any rituals before hitting the stage?
We always do a “Team Huddle” right before taking the stage and I try to come up with something inspiring or funny to say to the guys.

Is there one item that you always bring on tour to remind you of home?
I always carry photos of my wife and daughters and grandkids.

What do you feel have been the band’s main contributions to music?
Grand Funk has always been about “music with feel.” Songs and performances are uplifting and we prefer to have people in the audience smiling and on their feet.

What has surprised you most in your career?
I started out putting together bands in the basement of my parents’ home in Swartz Creek, Michigan and having my first band “The Red Devils” when I was 11 years old. My next band “The Jazzmasters” turned into “The Pack,” “Terry Knight and The Pack,” “The Fabulous Pack,” and that band became “Grand Funk Railroad.” I’m 71 years old and still playing in a band. SURPRISE!

Can you describe your best gig ever?
Shea Stadium in 1971.  Truly a Rock & Roll Fantasy.

And your worst one?
No such thing.

What career advice would you give now to your younger self?
Keep Going! You’ll Make It!
