“I know you wanna go down, down a different road
Where no one will reject you
For loving who you choose
You got wings to leave this town
And sing your song out loud”
“World Is Yours,” 2023 (co-written by Mitch Schneider and Abby Posner)

Queer singer-songwriter-producer Abby Posner, Blackbird Record Label and the Schneider Rondan Organization (SRO PR) have aligned with The Trevor Project in connection with Abby’s recently released song “World Is Yours” whose themes of personal freedom, acceptance and resilience are in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Along with a financial contribution, digital proceeds from the uplifting Americana song, written by Posner and Mitch Schneider, will go to The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ young people. Posner is also now training to become a Trevor Counselor. Listen to the song HERE and watch the animated video, created by Jessamine Sison, HERE.

“Many LGBTQ young people turn to music as a source of comfort, joy, and support—and it is wonderful that young people all over will be able to hear a powerful song of acceptance and affirmation in ‘World Is Yours,” says The Trevor Project. “We are incredibly excited to partner with Abby and her team to help spread the word of this anthem to those who could benefit from it.”

Says Abby, the genre-fluid Los Angeles-based artist: “When I first heard the song ‘World Is Yours,’ I was immediately drawn to it, and I wanted to produce/record my own version of it. As a queer songwriter, I believe the world needs more LGBTQ songs that encourage young people to be themselves and lean into their authenticity and strength.  She adds: “I recently started training to become a Trevor Counselor, and so far it has been one of the most eye-opening, and rewarding, experiences.  I hope to continue giving back to the LGBTQ community with my music and working with The Trevor Project.”

“We are honored to support the work The Trevor Project is doing to end suicide among the LGBTQ youth community,” says Manda Mosher, artist and co-owner of Blackbird Record Label. “Creating an environment of love, encouragement and support is vital. We are grateful that “World Is Yours,” an inspired collaboration by Abby Posner and Mitch Schneider, is connecting to empower and uplift through both the song’s message and support of donation to The Trevor Project.”

Video creator Jessamine Sison explains that, while working on the imagery for this video, “I wanted to stay true to its Americana/country sound by depicting small towns and vast horizons. I also wanted to honor the important message in the lyrics to help spread that message to a wider audience. I felt the imagery had to be relevant, timely, and heartfelt. The last building façade in the first part of the video is the historic Stonewall Inn bar.”

About The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. Every year, more than 1.8 million LGBTQ young people seriously consider suicide in the U.S. alone—and Trevor is on a mission to provide every single one of them with the support that they need as we work to end suicide among LGBTQ youth. Trevor provides free, confidential crisis counseling available 24/7 on the platforms where young people already spend their time: phone, chat, and text. We also run TrevorSpace, an international safe-space social networking site, and work to prevent suicide through education, research, and advocacy. Our services holistically support LGBTQ young people today while shaping a more inclusive tomorrow.

About Abby Posner

Years before creating Americana records that shrink the distance between genres, ABBY POSNER grew up in a small mountain town outside of Denver. By 10 years old, she was making her own recordings on an 8-track cassette recorder, playing all the instruments—including piano, guitar, bass, and drums—herself. Meanwhile, her father introduced her to classic records by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and iconic blues artists. POSNER also became a devoted fan of punk music, moshing in the pit during gigs by bands like Alkaline Trio. Music wasn’t just a hobby; it was a lifeline. “Music has always helped me cope with the difficulties of life,” says POSNER, who’s spent the past two decades in Los Angeles. “I’m queer and I came out at a very young age. Music was the glue that held me together through all of that. It helped me process my feelings about being different.” She shines a light on the full spread of her creative abilities with Second Chances, her upcoming album (August 2023, Blackbird Record Label) that uses modern American roots music as a springboard for a bigger, bolder sound. Influenced by everything from punk/rock to electronic music, Second Chances is every bit as diverse as the artist who made it. Coming on the heels of 2021’s critically acclaimed Kisbee Ring, Second Chances marks the newest chapter in a life story that’s still being written. Flip back a few pages and you’ll find a number of early-career milestones: the episodes of “Glee”that found Posner on prime-time television, playing guitar and banjo; the film scores she created for award-winning projects like the Starz documentary Lady Buds;the shows she shared with headliners like Sierra Hull, Dave Alvin, and iconic lesbian folksinger Phranc; the hundreds of songs she wrote, several of which were used by Hulu, Netflix, Freeform, and “This American Life.”

Veteran publicist HILLARY SMOOT has joined the Schneider Rondan Organization (SRO PR) as Las Vegas Director and Senior Account Executive, it was announced today by the company’s partners, Mitch Schneider and Marcee Rondan.

HILLARY brings to SRO PR an array of clients in the entertainment and hospitality worlds such as Feld Entertainment, Inc. (including “Disney On Ice” and “Monster Jam”), Las Vegas-based restaurants and venues (Hash House A Go Go, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, Vic’s Las Vegas, Stoney’s Rockin’ Country, and the soon-to-open Stoney’s North Forty), plus the Pacific Beach, CA restaurant Backyard Kitchen & Tap.

In this new union with SRO PR, HILLARY builds substantially on the company’s presence in Las Vegas where company Founder/Partner Mitch Schneider moved three years ago from Los Angeles to open an office.

“Hillary and I met two years ago in Las Vegas through our mutual friend and associate, publicist Laura Herlovich,” says Schneider. “I was immediately struck by Hillary’s abundance of passion, skills, knowledge and super-tight relationships with the media.” Schneider adds, “We stayed in touch via lunches and meet-ups, which then evolved into a working relationship when we both came together to handle the Nice Hospitality Group in late 2022. Working closely with Hillary on that account really planted the seed for us to combine forces in a bigger way at SRO PR. I truly feel it’s limitless as to what we can achieve together.”

“I’m thrilled to join an iconic agency with such a stellar reputation,” Smoot said. “Mitch and Marcee have presented a significant opportunity for expansion, and I look forward to enhancing a mutually successful partnership in Las Vegas and beyond.”

With almost 30 years in the business, Hillary Smoot has built a successful career implementing proficient public relations, marketing, and branding strategies via high yielding campaigns, multiplying revenue streams, and delivering optimal media coverage. Hillary first cut her PR teeth with an internship at Elektra Records while studying for her degree in Communications at California State University Northridge. After years of managing music and entertainment PR and community relations for a wide variety of clientele in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Hillary joined the Las Vegas Gladiators (Arena Football League) and later, the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers. Smoot held public relations executive positions at the Tropicana Las Vegas and Luxor Las Vegas, and also served at several prestigious Las Vegas PR agencies, where she managed campaigns for such clients as HISTORY’s “Pawn Stars,” Feld Entertainment’s “Disney On Ice,” “Supercross,” “Marvel Universe LIVE!” “Monster Jam,” and more; several restaurants; production shows, celebrities, and headline entertainers such as Boyz II Men. Most recently in 2019, she was enlisted to create Red Moon PR, overseeing strategic public relations campaigns for LA’s Viper Room, El Dorado Cantina, and Red Mercury Entertainment’s shows including “Purple Reign” and “MJ Live,” among others.

SRO PR maintains offices in Los Angeles, Nashville, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, headed by Marcee Rondan, Lyndie Wenner, Mitch Schneider, and Kelly Walsh, respectively. With its iconic and cutting-edge artist roster–and its representation of internationally heralded music festivals, tours, events, and companies–the company has the eyes and ears of America’s diverse audiences. It has been hailed as a “bonafide taste maker” (L.A. Weekly, 2010) and by Music Connection (2019) as “one of the world’s premier public relations firms…[the] roster is eclectic and encompassing. It includes various styles and genres, superstars, musical legends, festivals, award shows and emerging artists. That diversity enables…[the company]…to obtain coverage in multiple outlets and mediums, from underground to mainstream.” The company began as MSO in 1995 and rebranded as SRO, reflecting Rondan’s promotion to partner, in 2019. It marked its 25th year in 2020.

ANDREA, based in Los Angeles, is now Tour and National Publicist, which follows her promotion in 2017 to Tour Publicist. This title reflects the expanded scope of ANDREA’s role as she has segued into national publicity for various clients, including Yes, America and Tommy Emmanuel, during this time when national touring is on hold.

“Andrea has organically evolved into national publicity over the past few months as we all wait for the return of national touring,” says Schneider, who recently moved to Las Vegas to expand the company’s presence. “It’s exciting to watch Andrea continually grow in the national arena. She is truly valuable to the company and was also key to the recent redesign of the company’s website.”

“Watching Andrea grow has been such a pleasure,” Rondan adds. “Throughout her roles at the company from starting as an assistant, to tour and national publicist, Andrea has shown dedication and built trust from clients and our team.”

Growing up in a military family living in and out of the U.S., ANDREA developed a passion for music from all around the world. Prior to SRO, she wrote for various music blogs reviewing shows and interviewing a variety of rock and Japanese artists. SRO PR TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY IN FEBRUARY

COMPANY DEBUTS NEW WEBSITE
TO REFLECT RECENT REBRANDING TO SRO FROM MSO

As SRO (Schneider Rondan Organization) gets ready to mark its 25th anniversary in February, the PR company with headquarters in Los Angeles and an office in Nashville has debuted its new website: SROPR.COM.

The site reflects activity that started in June 2019 when MSO PR rebranded as SRO PR with the promotion of Marcee Rondan from Executive Vice President to Partner, an announcement that was made by the company’s Founder and Partner, Mitch Schneider. The SRO site includes a link to the MSO site where press releases are archived since 1996, when MSO became the first independent music publicity firm to have its own website.

“So honored and proud to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary,” says Schneider. “We continue to be lit up with legendary and new artists as well as music festivals and events. We’re very fortunate that our work has included campaigns for boundary-pushing artists Tash Sultana, Ice Nine Kills, The HU and Amigo The Devil. And it has been truly exciting to see Ozzy Osbourne collaborate with Post Malone and Travis Scott and reach new audiences.”

“With the new decade, and the celebration of our 25 years, this seems like the perfect time for a new look for our online presence,” Rondan adds. “We’re looking forward to what the future holds for SRO, while also celebrating our accomplishments with the breadth of artists that have brought us here.”

SRO has been at the forefront of many notable campaigns over the past 25 years. Here are a few memorable ones:

  • OZZY OSBOURNE: The rock icon, still relevant and compelling after all these years, just landed the #1 Rock Song in the country with his current single Under The Graveyardfrom his upcoming album, ORDINARY MAN. The beginnings of the company’s relationship with OZZY go all the way back to 1987.
  • DAVID BOWIE: From the MSO press release: “I have no idea where I’m going from here, but I promise I won’t bore you,” said DAVID BOWIE onstage at his sold-out 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in New York (1/9/97) right before he released his EARTHLING album. The company handled the legend from 1991-2012. To view this press release at the original MSO site, follow the link, scroll to Bowie’s name in the artist directory and click on the 1/13/97 release.
  • HEART: Rock and Roll of Fame inductees ANN and NANCY WILSON gloriously returned to the spotlight with their massive “Love Alive” cross-country summer tour after a three-year hiatus from touring. The roots of our relationship with the iconic and pioneering sisters go back to 1987.
  • TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: During a long relationship with the rock legends, which ran from 1987-2004, we asked PETTY to talk about all the songs on the band’s 1993 GREATEST HITS album. Company founder Mitch Schneider interviewed him at his Encino home, just a half mile from where the SRO office is today. Read the Q&A at SRO‘s spin-off website, Raise The Question.
  • DOLLY PARTON: SRO in Los Angeles and Nashvillewas proud to work with the woman who needs no introduction; it was a five-year run that started with the 2007’s BACKWOODS BARBIE album. It marked the first release on Dolly Records and was launched with “Better Get To Livin’,” a classic kick-in-the-pants inspirational.
  • AEROSMITH: During a long relationship with the band (intermittently from 1988-2015), we came up with the idea to have their original Commonwealth Ave apartment declared a historic landmark in Boston. Tens of thousands of cheering fans turned out, with the city closing the streets down and suspending trolley service in the area (since the trolley runs in front of the apartment). It was one of the biggest events ever in Boston.
  • KORN: When we handled the trendsetting, Grammy-winning modern rock icons, we came up with the idea to have the press conference announcing the See You On The Other Side” tour take place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in 2005. The band of course arrived in a hearse and the party that followed took place in a mausoleum. Axl Rose, in what was his first public sighting in years, attended.
  • SEX PISTOLS: MSO handled the band’s reunion in 1996 and continued with them through 2007 including their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, which they defiantly did not attend. We asked JOHNNY ROTTEN for some quotes to explain the band’s position; he promptly scrawled out a classic note complete with deliberate misspellings that we released to the media. See the note here.
  • FESTIVALS: Throughout the company’s history, the SRO team has been fortunate to be a part of some historic moments in U.S. festival history including, the launch of Coachella in 1999 (through 2011); the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans from 2005-2013, including the pivotal event in 2005 that was a part of the city’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina; and the inaugural Kind Festival in Desert Hot Springs in 2019, the first ever cannabis-friendly music festival.

SRO PR maintains offices in Los Angeles and Nashville, the latter of which is headed by Lyndie Wenner. With its iconic and cutting-edge artist roster–and its representation of internationally heralded music festivals, tours, events and companies–the company has the eyes and ears of America’s exuberant music fans. Ithas been hailed as a “bonafide taste maker” (L.A. Weekly, 2010) and by Music Connection (May 2019) as “one of the world’s premier public relations firms. The MSO roster is eclectic and encompassing. It includes various styles and genres, superstars, musical legends, festivals, award shows and emerging artists. That diversity enables MSO to obtain coverage in multiple outlets and mediums, from underground to mainstream.”
