FOR TITLE TRACK ‘ALL THIS TIME’

ALBUM OUT TOMORROW (MAY 1)
LIVE LISTENING PARTY FROM LOS ANGELES
TO BE HOSTED ON FACEBOOK AT 1:00 PM PT

To celebrate the release of her second album ALL THIS TIME tomorrow, May 1, soulful and fearless Americana/country-rock artist HEATHER ANNE LOMAX has shared its title track with a spirited lyric video debuting on Americana Highways who declared, “… This video is a gem…Heather Anne Lomax has created a sound that directly taps into our nostalgia and longing for all that Elvis Presley represented in ‘All This Time.'” HEATHER has also announced she will host a virtual ‘live’ listening party for the album on Friday from Los Angeles via her Facebook page starting at 1:00 PM (PT). Follow her now at www.facebook.com/heatherlomaxmusic

All This Time” was musically and sonically inspired by Elvis Presley‘s classic The Sun Sessions album which is alluded to in the lyric video with vintage clips of culture in the 1950’s mixed with performance footage of HEATHER and her ‘live’ band (Zachary Ross-electric guitar/backing vocals, Jason Hiller-bass/backing vocals, Aubrey Richmond-fiddle/backing vocals and Rob Humphreys-drums). As HEATHER told Americana Highways: “I really wanted to honor Elvis and the trajectory of his career. This video is just a nod to the Sun Studio sessions, RCA, his movie era, American Sound Studios, and his ‘Aloha From Hawaii’ TV special /Las Vegas years. ‘All This Time’ was written and inspired by the sonics and energy of those early Sun Studio years. The whole song lyrically is a double entendre of personal struggles with highlights from Elvis’s life and career. Elvis had a phoenix moment after his years doing film, and came back in the ’68 TV special. He also eclipsed that with the ‘Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite’ special that was broadcast via satellite to over 40 countries live.”

Leading up to the release of ALL THIS TIME, HEATHER has been receiving coverage on her new material from outlets including The Bluegrass Situation, American Songwriter, DittyTV and Guitar Girl Mag. She has also garnered critical reviews including Glide Magazine (4/27/20) which lauded it as “an album that dazzles with flawless execution and a tireless commitment to the music,” and Music Connection (May 2020) which declared: “This beautiful album is pleasantly placed, from moderate rockers to traditional countrified rave-ups and ballads. There is an authenticity and urgency that states ‘I am here and I am for real.'”

Originally hailing from Kansas City, HEATHER is now based in Los Angeles where she recorded ALL THIS TIME with producer/mixer Jason Hiller along with enlisting an all-star team of renowned musicians to guest on the album including Zachary Ross, Ty Bailie, Ben Peeler-Weissenborn, Aubrey Richmond, David Goodstein, Chris Joyner, Rob Humphreys, Rosa Pullman-Wurlitzer, Maesa Pullman, Ronee Martin, John “JT” Thomas, and Danielle Fife.

HEATHER has recently brought her fiery energy to stages across the U.S. opening for acts including Wynonna and The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, WAR and Blood Sweat & Tears.

Soulful and fearless Americana/country-rock artist HEATHER ANNE LOMAX (formerly known as Michael-Ann) is previewing her upcoming second album ALL THIS TIME (due May 1) with “Heart Don’t Lie.” A bittersweet country song about love and loss with the moving line “Cause heaven knows/That the heart don’t lie,” the song is available today (April 10) across all digital platforms following its premiere yesterday via The Bluegrass Situation. Listen to “Heart Don’t Lie” now here:

“It’s a song about love and longing,” shares the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and guitarist. “It’s a song of yearning and of the unseen ties that bind two souls regardless of space and time. It’s about ‘memories, pressed between the pages of my mind.”

“Heart Don’t Lie” comes on the heels of HEATHER‘s riveting and colorful performance music video for the album single “Better Luck” which debuted last month on DittyTV. The uplifting self-empowerment manifesto “Better Luck” was initially premiered via American Songwriter. “One of the most expressive vocalists around,” noted the outlet’s Paul Zollo, “she combines the sweet folky purity of Joan Baez with the rocking soul of Janis Joplin with hints of Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt.” “Better Luck” was also picked by The Alternate Root as one ofThe Top Ten Songs of the Week” (2/19/2020). HEATHER recently spoke to Guitar Girl Mag whom lauded her as “a bold and daring voice in today’s Americana scene. She is creating music that brings the raw roots of country, blues, and gospel into a modern language that is firmly grounded in time-honored tradition.” (April 6, 2020)

HEATHER has brought her fiery energy to stages across the U.S. opening for acts including Wynonna and The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, WAR and Blood Sweat & Tears.

While quarantined at home in Los Angeles due to the coronavirus pandemic, HEATHER shared some of her thoughts on its impact on artists and what she’s been doing to keep busy while staying at home in the below Q&A.

QUARANTINE Q&A with HEATHER ANNE LOMAX

What are some of the changes you’ve seen around you following the spread of the coronavirus pandemic?

LOMAX: “I think one thing that is GOOD that has transpired with this pandemic, is that it has heightened people’s compassion for others. I see people willing to do favors for others, donate time, resources, etc. for the common good. It’s tragic that sometimes we need a wakeup call like a pandemic, or 9/11 to remember those noble qualities in our species.”

While staying at home, what are some of the activities that you’ve been doing to keep busy?

“I have been binge watching (thanks to my friend Aubrey Richmond) ‘The Outlander.’
It’s a truly romantic escape to the shores of Scotland. At its core, it’s a love story set in the mid-1700’s during the Jacobite uprising against England. It’s full of dramatic twists and turns, passion, loyalty, and the undying, unbridled love of two soulmates that weather the test of time. Do I believe in this kind of love? Absolutely.”
“I’ve also been reading a lot of books. I am currently reading ‘My Symphony’ by William Henry Channing and there’s a quote in the book that really stands out to me in these times because it is easy to become fearful, and not mindful:
‘To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, to all bravely await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.’

What it’s been like as an artist surviving during these times?

“I had shows and a record release lined up, but like so many other musicians, have had to cancel or postpone those performances. For so many musicians, touring is a big part of their financial equation to support their work. This situation is causing a paradigm shift. Now musicians are performing online just to stay in the public eye. This music offers much needed comfort, support and healing. Hopefully it puts some money in musicians’ pockets as well via online views. I have my own financial concerns, but I am better off than many of my friends who tour exclusively to support themselves. My heart really hurts for them.”
“I’m hoping this situation cracks open our hearts to be more aware that we are ALL struggling–financially, emotionally, spiritually and physically. This virus does not discriminate based on status, race, sex or religion. Perhaps we will be more keenly aware that we are all just trying to survive on this planet. I think that it has also made me aware that this life IS truly a gift, and it’s best to take time to ‘stop and smell the roses.'”

“I am a phoenix I flew out of the fire
Took me for dead, but I rose even higher
Even higher
Oh came back again
Back again
Oh, rose from the dead”
Heather Anne Lomax, “All This Time” song

HEATHER ANNE LOMAX (formerly known as the artist Michael-Ann) has spent the greater part of the past decade putting her own spin on the Americana and Country-Rock/Blues genre. A strikingly authentic and fearless artist who’s based in Los Angeles and hails from Kansas City, MissouriHEATHER has announced plans to self-release her sophomore album ALL THIS TIME on May 1. Yesterday, February 4, she premiered the new single “Better Luck” via American Songwriter“One of the most expressive vocalists around, she combines the sweet folky purity of Joan Baez with the rocking soul of Janis Joplin with hints of Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt,” noted the magazine’s Paul Zollo.

“Better Luck” is an explosive song about self-affirmation and strength, set to a mix of acoustic/electric guitars and soaring fiddle work with an insistent percussive groove and vocal chants. HEATHER instantly paints the picture: “Got a rocket/In my back pocket/Full of wishes/Better luck next time.” She says: “I just had the vision of carrying a bottle rocket in my back pocket when I was a kid in the Midwest. My brother and I used to have bottle rocket wars with our neighbors. It’s symbolic about the launching of hope, and how sometimes the rocket’s path can derail but still creates a spectacular explosion in the air.”

The album features 11 original tracks–recorded with the sonics of Elvis Presley‘s “Sun Sessions” and the American Sound Studios “From Elvis In Memphis” in mind–by producer/mixer Jason Hiller and was mastered at Lurssen Mastering by Reuben Cohen and Gavin Lurssen. HEATHER also enlisted an all-star team of renowned musicians to guest on the album including Zachary Ross, Ty Bailie, Ben Peeler-Weissenborn, Aubrey Richmond, David Goodstein, Chris Joyner, Rob Humphreys, Rosa Pullman-Wurlitzer, Maesa Pullman, Ronee Martin, John “JT” Thomas, and Danielle Fife.

Look for HEATHER to open for the legendary soul artist Aaron Neville on March 14 at The Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA. Last month she brought her firepower opening for soul titans War at The Canyon in Santa Clarita, CA. More tour dates will soon be announced.

She has received numerous features across music publications including LA Music Examiner, Music News Nashville, and Lonesome Highway and has opened shows across the country for acts such as Wynonna and The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, Blood Sweat & Tears and War.

As the song goes, HEATHER ANNE LOMAX was “born in the wagon of a travellin’ show.” She has always known she was adopted, and after years of searching, she found her birth family. HEATHER discovered that she had been born into a lineage of both artistic and musical family members. She is related to the late radio sports broadcaster Stan Lomax of WOR NY, cousin to the well-known ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax; her mother was an artist and a musician, and her grandmother was on Broadway. And so, like the prodigal daughter, she returned to her original birth name, HEATHER ANNE LOMAX.
