“‘Dark Thoughts’ is a fun and energetic song meant to highlight our own mental health struggles,” states vocalist LEE JENNINGS. “It is deeply rooted in feeling trapped in your own head, like you have no one to reach out to who would understand or have an answer.” He adds: “It’s a statement both about the band and our fans. Depression, anxiety and mental health crisis events are a ubiquitous experience for us and the people who connect with our art. It can be such a terrifying and daunting task to try to overcome, but we hope that by connecting with others, we can support each other as a community in times when things seem the most bleak.”

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT—LEE JENNINGS (vocals), CODY WEISSINGER (guitar), CALEB FREIHAUT (guitar/auxiliary), ROBERT WESTON (bass), and HOMER UMBANHOWER (drums)—further showcase their extravagant antics with each live performance, or as they call them “devotion ceremonies,” utilizing full theatrics, stage décor, costumed actors and more. NYC-based trio NEVRLANDS touch on their humble beginnings, authentic hardships and down to earth way of life to craft timeless and sincere music that provides listeners with a positive escape and emotional release. Their lyrics consist of relatable themes including love, loss, struggle, triumph, strength, mental health, and self-acceptance, which intertwine succinctly with their unique sonic blend of in-your-face rock n’ roll, grooving alternative, and captivating pop sounds.

The NEVRLANDS trio—vocalist OKAN KAZDAL, guitarist LOUIE MALPELI, and drummer MIKEY PITTELLI—today (September 22) release their debut full-length LP TIMELESS via Better Noise Music. TIMELESS features two completely sonically and musically different producers/teams: alternative/indie rock team HEAVY (The Dirty Heads, Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness, lovelytheband), and ZK Productions (Jimmy Eat World, Mayday Parade, Cartel, All Time Low). Mixing was also divided between Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Seether, Helmet) in Los Angeles, CA and Nick ‘Squids’ Squillante (Hozier, Aloe Blacc, Dirty Heads) in Brooklyn, NY, who also mastered the entire album. NEVRLANDS have shared the lyric video for title track “Timeless” streaming below or available directly on YouTube HERE. It follows two previously released songs: “Chemicals” and the debut track “Stay” which Wolf In A Suit praised stating, “There’s something about the track that just hits the spot from the moment you press play…It’s a one-of-a-kind soundscape bound to be a fan favorite and a perfect way to explore the magic of their infectious sound.”

“‘Timeless’ for us is the defining song of the album,” shares NEVRLANDS collectively. “It’s the song that started it all for us, the first domino to fall. At the time it was written, it was our first foray into a new sound and a new energy for Nevrlands, making it a perfect fit for the album title track. ‘Timeless’ is a song about reigniting your passions and releasing yourself from the restraints of time to fulfill your purpose in life.It fully illustrates the spirit of Nevrlands.”

NEVRLANDS have previously toured across the U.S. on Vans Warped Tour as well as opening for acts including Allstar Weekend and Jake Miller. The trio will host a special record release show on Saturday, October 28 in Amityville, NY at Amityville Music Hall for fans 16+ at 4:30pm followed by an intimate 21+ after party and hang with the band which includes an open bar and food at Nostalgia Bar in Bethpage, NY. Lauded as one of SIRIUS XM’s 2023 “Ones To Watch,” Detroit-based female-led rock outfit EVA UNDER FIRE have today (September 22) released the deluxe version of their acclaimed debut album LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY via Better Noise Music. The deluxe edition includes an additional 10 bonus tracks consisting of new acoustic tracks, remixes by Noise Machine, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and reimagined tracks featuring country rock labelmate Cory Marks. EVA UNDER FIRE’s current single “Unstoppable (feat. Cory Marks)” has landed in the Top 25 tracks at Active Rock Radio this week at #24. Earlier this week, the band announced the release of a limited-edition “Unstoppable” t-shirt as part of Spotify’s “Band Shirt Day.” EVA UNDER FIRE have partnered with the non-profit organization Covenant House that provides shelter and resources to youth facing homelessness and will be donating a portion of proceeds to their cause.

KillerStar is a new band led by Rob Fleming (vocals, guitar, synths) and James Sedge (drums). With songs written by Rob and James, the self-titled album features an array of David Bowie’s most trusted collaborators as guests throughout the album: Mike Garson on piano, Earl Slick and Mark Plati on guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey and Tim Lefebvre on bass, Emm Gryner on backing vocals, and Donny McCaslin on saxophone. Collectively they have crafted a sound which fuses the scale of classic rock with sophisticated harmonies and elements of art rock. KillerStar make a big first impression with “Should’ve Known Better.” It’s an epic song which is rooted in Rob and James’s love of timeless music from the early 1970s to primeval rock ‘n’ roll and sleek hard rock, but its synth textures and driving guitar driven intensity provides a contemporary edge too. Rob’s voice—a vocal delivery filled with drama and conviction—adds another distinctive element, especially as it’s complemented by sophisticated, hook-laden harmonies from Emm Gryner. Mike Garson contributes beautiful avant garde piano, and Gail Ann Dorsey provides driving, melodic bass lines that lock in with the powerful drums from James Sedge.

Rob says, “‘Should’ve Known Better’ contains all the flavours of what we’re trying to do. It has a rock vibe, but with hooks, ambient melodies and layered backing vocals throughout.”

“Should’ve Known Better” was written by Rob, who produced the track with James, before it was mixed by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) and mastered by Joe La Porta at Sterling Sound.

Collectively, KillerStar’s musicians have contributed to almost every era of Bowie’s vast discography, from the landmark Aladdin Sane to the final goodbye of Blackstar. Although, while the KillerStar name references one of Bowie’s relatively deeper cuts, “Should’ve Known Better” really doesn’t feel like an homage to The Thin White Duke. And that’s simply because it was never intended to be one. Rob and James had recorded the first KillerStar demos independently, without any advance planning on who else would be involved.

Earl Slick says, “Since Bowie died, we’ve all gone off in different directions, but with this album we worked on new material and that was great.”

As you’ll eventually hear on KillerStar’s eponymously named album, there are fleeting touches that recall classic Bowie moments, but really this is something altogether new and exciting. Bowie chose these musicians for their unique style and ability, and that is what they have brought to the record: reunited friends and some new connections, all playing to complement the songwriting rather than to retread the iconic music they created alongside their visionary former leader.

As Emm Gryner considers, “The Bowie alumni have a very special bond and we always will. David united us in a truly special way, where we spent a lot of time together, and to be able to hear each other again in this way was unique.”

BRIAN SETZER injects the roots of rock with a contemporary freshness that unites fans of rock, Americana, rockabilly, and punk. He is also the master of songs that celebrate uncomplicated, joyous good times. Today (September 15), the iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, and three-time Grammy Award-winner releases his new solo album THE DEVIL ALWAYS COLLECTS digitally, on CD and vinyl on Surfdog Records. It features “Rock Boys Rock,” the album’s high-energy opener and fourth single that’s also out today. Penned by SETZER and frequent collaborator Mike Himelstein, the song is filled with BRIAN’s fluid and sizzling guitar lines set against a galloping rhythm, with his distinctive vocals. SETZER’s guitar work is virtuosic on the new album’s 11 tracks, and his vocals deliver the clever storylines of catchy songs like “The Devil Always Collects,” “Girl On The Billboard,” and “Rock Boys Rock.” Add in non-stop freight train rhythms, and you have an album—produced by BRIAN SETZER and Julian Raymond and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge—that stands with SETZER’s best.

BRIAN will support the album, his first since 2021’s Gotta Have The Rumble, this fall on his U.S “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour starting September 27 (the dates are below).

Marking his first live shows in over four years, the “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour will kick off September 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ and includes stops in Nashville, TN (at the historic Ryman Auditorium), Foxwoods Casino, Cincinnati, Chicago (Waukegan) and others before wrapping in Minneapolis (his adopted hometown). For these dates, SETZER will be joined by, in his words, an “international rockabilly band, Chris D’Rozario from Melbourne, Australia and Juan Laurios from Mexico City, Mexico.” Although BRIAN has a 40-year career as a solo artist, leader of The Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a Stray Cat, he continues to play with a jaw-dropping level of vigor. ABOUT BRIAN SETZER:

Iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and 3-time Grammy award-winner BRIAN SETZER has achieved one career milestone after another. He’s sold millions of albums and is a “Musician’s Musician” credited with continually taking chances with innovative and daring musical styles. Setzer is widely credited for taking two forgotten genres, rockabilly and swing, adding his own blend of gunpowder and rockin’ style, and completely reinventing and single-handedly resurrecting them in the process. Long before mosh pits regularly broke out at rap shows and metal samples abounded throughout the culture, HYRO THE HERO was collaborating with members of At The Drive-In and Blood Brothers as well as era-defining producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn) on his independently released EP BIRTH, SCHOOL, WORK, DEATH in 2011. The latter generated applause from BBC, Kerrang!, and Alternative Press who touted him as one of “19 Underrated Bands From The 2010s Who Deserve Another Listen.” In its wake, he blasted off with “Bullet,” posting north of 15 million-plus streams and paving the way for his 2018 debut album FLAGGED CHANNEL. Feeding off of the raw rock energy, I dug deep to bring as many melodic and off the wall guitar elements to the table as I possibly could. Playing through a slurred drunken swagger, the solo and guitar playing gets more concise and razor sharp as the song progresses.
