Look for emo rock outfit THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT to release their second full-length album GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY via Better Noise Music on September 13. The album’s story arc is told across its 14 tracks (see listing below) which blends religious and violent imagery. It’s a thrilling and evocative mix of the holy and unholy, the sacred and sacrilege. Guest appearances include Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria and Eva Under Fire. Pre-orders for GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY are available via digital download, CD, and vinyl HERE.

“This album is a statement,” says vocalist LEE JENNINGS. “Its title reflects our conviction, respect, and most importantly, DEVOTION to its message. This record talks of love and loss. That the people we love, the passions we dedicate ourselves to, the culture we are surrounded by, and the society we partake in, will all inevitably hurt us. Yet through the pain and struggle of it all,” he adds, “we still choose to love, unabashedly, even when it kills us. It is a warning of the challenges life will present us all with and a universal truth that suffering is inherent in all joy.”

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT today, August 2, have released a new industrial-tinged track, “Blood Mother.” JENNINGS says, “This southern-fried riff machine brings a low, pulsing energy to the record. It harks on modern medication and the fear of risking losing your personality and sense of self once prescribed.” The music video for “Blood Mother” can be seen streaming below, or via YouTube HERE. Stream/download the song digitally HERE.

The track’s release marks the start of their U.S. tour supporting Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, and Slaughter To Prevail in Hershey, PA. The tour will stretch until September 19 ending in Houston, TX. Next, the band head to Louisville, KY for Louder Than Life (September 28), followed by Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA (October 12). Throughout the tour the band will also appear on a handful of one-off shows with Marilyn Manson and Slaughter To Prevail. In addition, the band have announced a special “double feature” night on August 6 in Detroit, Mitch. It consists of a free in-store performance at Rock of Ages from 5-7 PM, followed by a private ghost hunt with the band at Eloise Asylum in Westland, MI starting at 8pm. Theatrical emo rock group THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT deliver massive riffs and a driving chorus while evoking a sense of fear on their new track “Suffocate City” featuring guest vocals from Spencer Charnas of horror-themed active rock outfit Ice Nine Kills. Out digitally today, June 21, “Suffocate City” is the second sample of new music from THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s upcoming new album due via Better Noise Music later this year. It follows the band’s latest track “You’re So Ugly When You Cry”–an upbeat anthemic pop-punk song which features Bert McCracken of 2x RIAA Platinum-certified iconic group The Used.

“‘Suffocate City’ speaks to our listeners’ sense of fear,” says vocalist LEE JENNINGS. “The fear of being stuck in a dead-end job, a dead-end relationship, or a dead-end financial situation. The fear of ‘never getting out’ is a ubiquitous experience that anyone can connect and relate to.”

SPENCER CHARNAS comments “Thrilled to team up with our good friends The Funeral Portrait on their track ‘Suffocate City.’ We had a killer time working with them on the song and the accompanying music video. Check it out now.”

Lauded as one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands You Need to Know,” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT have relentlessly toured across the country building an unwavering fanbase with their extravagant theatrics, stage décor and even costumed actors while opening for acts including Shinedown, Ice Nine Kills, Underoath, Skillet, From Ashes To New, Starset, Pvris and ISSUES. This summer/fall, they’ll hit the road on an arena tour with Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, and Slaughter To Prevail from August 2 to September 19. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT will also appear at a handful of one-off shows as direct support to Marilyn Manson and will conclude the run with festival appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock. The tour, also featuring Marilyn Manson and Slaughter To Prevail, kicks off on August 2, in Hershey, PA and runs through September 19 when it will conclude in Houston, TX. The band have today, May 1, announced three additional shows headlined by Marilyn Manson alongside support act Slaughter To Prevail amidst the tour. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT will follow the tour with performances at two of the fall’s biggest rock festivals, Louder Than Life and Aftershock. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT are currently on the road as direct support for Dead On A Sunday through May 10. See all upcoming dates listed below. General admission tickets are on sale now HERE.

“We are so thankful to Five Finger Death Punch for graciously inviting us along on this massive headlining tour,” states THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT vocalist Lee Jennings. “This is our first foray into arenas and we are grateful for the opportunity to bring our message to the masses.”

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s new single, the evocative “You’re So Ugly When You Cry (feat. Bert McCracken of The Used), has been acclaimed as having “all the markers of the sweet bygone era that shaped so many of us with their trademark ‘My Chemical Romance-esque’ sound.” (2470 Mag). The song contrasts upbeat anthemic pop-punk melodies with lyrics about hitting rock bottom. Listen/download it now HERE.

ABOUT THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT:
THE FUNERAL PORTRAITLEE JENNINGS (vocals), CODY WEISSINGER (guitar), CALEB FREIHAUT (guitar/auxiliary), ROBERT WESTON (bass), and HOMER UMBANHOWER (drums)—have relentlessly toured across the country built an unwavering fanbase opening for acts including Shinedown, Ice Nine Kills, Underoath, Skillet, From Ashes To New, Starset, Pvris and ISSUES. The band’s intention for their music is to represent ‘outcasts’ from all walks of life–the weird, the misunderstood, the marginalized—which they showcase through their live performances which include extravagant theatrics, stage décor, costumed actors, and more.

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT released the SOUNDS FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS (VOL. 1) EP via Better Noise Music last October (2023). The four-track EP features four occult-driven tracks which cater to the band’s potent blend of modern rock anthems molded with emo and pop-punk theatrics. Of the four tracks, two are covers of iconic songs from artists that have inspired THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s vibrant sound: Radiohead’s “Creep” (released in partnership with The Hot Topic Foundation to support non-profit music, art, LGBTQ+ and mental health organizations for youth and teens) and Tears For Fears’Mad World.” Stream and/or download SOUNDS FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS (VOL 1) now at https://thefuneralportrait.ffm.to/sfbtavol1. Theatrical emo rock group THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT today (April 19) share the first new music following their 2023 EP SOUNDS FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS (VOL. 1) via Better Noise Music. “You’re So Ugly When You Cry” features guest vocals from Bert McCracken of seminal emo rock outfit The Used who boast 2X RIAA Platinum certified releases (2002’s self-titled debut The Used and 2004’s In Love and Death), a RIAA Gold certification for 2007’s Lies For The Liars, and over 1.1 billion overall career streams. The song contrasts upbeat anthemic pop-punk melodies with lyrics about hitting rock bottom. “It’s not about healing, or the come-up later on, it’s about telling people ‘it sucks right now, I don’t like who I am when I’m like this, and I know you’ve felt the same way,” according to THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT vocalist LEE JENNINGS.

Listen/download “You’re So Ugly When You Cry (feat. Bert McCracken of The Used)” now at https://thefuneralportrait.ffm.to/ysuwyc.

“Working with Bert was a lifelong dream come true for us,” exclaims JENNINGS. “We all grew up with The Used being one of our biggest influences and it was a surreal moment when he reached back out saying he loved the song and wanted to be involved.”

THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT have also shared a captivating music video for “You’re So Ugly When You Cry (feat. Bert McCracken of The Used)” which introduces the “Coffin Crew” (the band’s name for their devoted followers) and their movement. Watch the video to find out more and the reveal of a special powerful ally to their cause via YouTube HERE or streaming below.
