TASH SULTANA, a gender-fluid multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer-songwriter, engineer, and entrepreneur, has been a powerful presence in the music industry for the last decade. Today (March 13), they have shared “James Dean,” the first single from an upcoming EP out later this year (TBA) through their label, Lonely Lands Records.

LISTEN TO JAMES DEAN HERE

“James Dean” is a powerful and soulful song about self-reflection and transformation. It’s a heartfelt ode to learning who one’s true friends are and having the courage to cut ties with those who don’t add value to one’s life. The song is driven by a strong guitar riff and a steady beat, while TASH‘s passionate vocals entice listeners to reflect on the relationships they have and how they can make the necessary changes to move forward in life.

“I feel like the entire point of my career has always been DIY,” TASH says. “I’ve always produced everything, written everything, played every single instrument you hear, engineered it, co-engineered and sometimes even mixed and mastered. I have always done all of that but I feel like people still just don’t get it and to me it’s the most important message to send out. I remember once someone in an interview literally asked me ‘who is your guitarist’—I had to laugh. So I do it all. I have had great mentoring with my studio engineer Richard Stolz. That’s very important to highlight. He’s taught me a lot over the last few years.

“I actually wrote ‘James Dean’ in December 2021 when I took another trip falling off the face of the earth—I feel like that’s where most of my songs come from, the pits of hell.”

Their first release, the Notion EP, accumulated multi-platinum singles, and TASH’s debut album Flow State landed in 2018, quickly becoming gold-certified and spawning platinum and gold records with the singles “Mystik” and “Murder to the Mind.” Flow State would go on to win an ARIA Award for Best Blues & Roots Album as well as international awards cementing TASH’s status as one of Australia’s biggest musical talents.

In 2019 alone, TASH sold more than 500,000 concert tickets globally. Over the years, they’ve notched up major international appearances at festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Montreal Jazz Festival. They sold out the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in just five minutes. Committed to delivering the highest quality of live performance, TASH spends most days in practice, again with DIY attitude TASH and their team custom-designed a loop station that took over two years to build–it is the only one in the world that can operate at such a level.

Their acclaimed second album Terra Firma landed in 2021, garnering widespread praise for TASH’s raw and reflective songwriting and ambitious musical arrangements. Like everything before it, the entirety of the record was carved by TASH–every instrument played, every bit of musical arrangement, every bit of production. But for the first time, Terra Firma saw TASH bring in a couple of close friends and collaborations to co-write–including Matt Corby, Dann Hume, Jerome Farah, and Josh Cashman.

Terra Firma reached #1 on the charts in their native Australia and secured multiple nominations and a win for Rolling Stone Australia’s Best Single for “Pretty Lady.”

The MTV Unplugged (Live in Melbourne) album was released in 2022. A stunning display of TASH’s consummate talents, it gave audiences an intimate glimpse at an artist that has grown immeasurably since they began their musical journey. Not only that, TASH mixed the record entirely by themself at their own studio, Lonely Lands Studio.

Their extensive catalogue has nearly broken the internet, notching billions of streams and counting.

In recent years, TASH’s skill has expanded far beyond the studio. In 2019, TASH launched Lonely Lands Agency with Lemon Tree Music’s Regan Lethbridge and UNIFIED’s Jaddan Comerford. In the space of a few years, the boutique booking agency has grown into one of the biggest and most reputable in the country.

In addition, TASH is also the driver of Lonely Lands Records, the label through which they put out all their music. It’s this natural instinct for the music business and attention to detail that have made them a formidable presence in the Australian industry over the last few years. As TASH says, over the years, they’ve developed an incredible team around them to make their vision a reality.

“I am completely in control of everything, literally everything,” they say. “But when you’ve got the team around you, you develop a clockwork system where you learn from each other…none of this is possible without a team around me. We have a tight, tight team.”

“James Dean” is available on all streaming platforms NOW

YES Announce New Studio Album ‘Mirror To The Sky’ Out 5/19; First Single “Cut From The Stars” Out Today

DATE: MARCH 10, 2023

FROM: MITCH SCHNEIDER/ANDREA FAULK, SRO PR

YES
ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIO ALBUM
‘MIRROR TO THE SKY’ FOR RELEASE ON MAY 19
LAUNCH FIRST SINGLE AND VIDEO
“CUT FROM THE STARS”

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

YES, who are Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison, Billy Sherwood and Jay Schellen, are pleased to announce their new studio album MIRROR TO THE SKY on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music on May 19 and today (March 10) share the album’s first track and video, “Cut From The Stars.” Listen to “Cut From The Stars” and watch the video HERE.

“This is a very important album for the band,” says Steve Howe, YES’ longest serving member, master guitarist, and producer of MIRROR TO THE SKY. “We kept the continuity in the approach we established on The Quest, but we haven’t repeated ourselves. That was the main thing. As Yes did in the seventies from one album to another, we’re growing and moving forward. In later years, Yes often got going but then didn’t do the next thing. This album is demonstrative of us growing and building again.” For YES, that “next thing” is a collection of high energy, intricate, lush and layered new studio songs for an album which adds to the band’s much heralded legacy, while charting a path to exciting future times ahead.

MIRROR TO THE SKY will be available on several formats, all featuring artwork by long-time Yes artist and collaborator Roger Dean:

Ltd Deluxe Electric Blue 2LP+2CD+Blu-ray Artbook with poster
Ltd Deluxe 2CD+Blu-ray Artbook
Ltd 2CD Digipak
Standard CD Jewel case
Gatefold 2LP+LP-Booklet
Digital Album

The Blu-ray editions include the album as Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround Sound, Instrumental Versions & Hi-Res Stereo Mixes.

Pre-order now here: https://Yes-Band.lnk.to/MirrorToTheSky

The track listing is as follows:

CD1:

  1. Cut From The Stars 05:27
  2. All Connected 09:02
  3. Luminosity 09:04
  4. Living Out Their Dream 04:45
  5. Mirror to the Sky 13:53
  6. Circles of Time 04:59

CD2:

  1. Unknown Place 08:15
  2. One Second Is Enough 04:04
  3. Magic Potion 04:08

As they were wrapping up The Quest, YES found themselves with song sketches, structures, and ideas that were demanding attention. YES received unconditional support from InsideOut boss Thomas Waber, who encouraged them to keep going in the studio, months before The Quest would even be released. It was like throwing gasoline on their creative fire.

“When we delivered everything, and they were just getting the vinyl and everything into production for manufacturing, we were still very much in that creative zone,” explains Steve Howe. “That belief that Thomas had in us really meant a lot,” he says.

“We truly get along as people,” says Jon Davison. “I feel like everyone’s focused inward to the greater circle, concentric to the core of highest standards that define Yes. It’s a wonderful thing to witness and of which to play a part. I believe this reflects vibrantly in the music and the creative input that each one is willing to apply, not for the benefit of the individual, but for the greater whole that is Yes.”

“There was a lot of material floating around because the band hadn’t done anything in the studio for so long. Ideas were just copious,” says bassist Billy Sherwood. “The pace of it was fast. As soon as we were finished with The Quest, and the mix had come out, we took a couple of little breaks there to catch our breath. But there was still music flowing around in the loop. It was just constantly being looked at and worked on. As we were all home and in that mode, things started progressing quite swiftly. We just went one album into another without really announcing, ‘Hey, we’re working on a second record right now.’ We just continued to work on material. It came about pretty naturally, and then we refined it as the process went on. But the initial bursts—there was a lot of material around!”

Much to everyone’s delight, including that of long-time fan Thomas Waber, YES have pushed into territory they practically invented—the prog rock epic—albeit in a thoroughly new and modern way. “I always felt that it would be great to have stuff that’s a little bit more epic,” he says, although he resisted the temptation to push for something that would be too formatted and could come off as contrived. He just gave the band space to do what they do and let things develop. “They were so excited by The Quest and the momentum they had that they went straight back into the studio. What they were writing, even early on, was obviously headed in that epic direction—what Yes music really is to me. It is almost a genre onto itself. It is ‘Yes Music.’ Mirror To The Sky certainly is Yes Music.”

MIRROR TO THE SKY features not one, but four tracks clocking in at over eight minutes, with the sweeping and cinematic title track coming in just shy of fourteen minutes. What’s more, the tracks, like YES’ best, take the listener on a wide dynamically ranging journey of soundscapes which also showcase Steve Howe’s dazzling guitars, keyboard wizard Geoff Downes’ impeccable sounds, exquisite melodies and fills, Jon Davison’s angelic, crystalline vocals, Billy Sherwood’s deftly dancing bass and Jay Schellen’s masterfully controlled explosions on drums.

Jay Schellen, who has been touring with the band since 2016, was hand-picked to step into his mentor and friend Alan White’s role when White sadly passed away in 2022. I had done the 2016 Topographic Drama tour on my own for Alan,” says Jay. “From late 2017 onwards, we had a partnership, and a beautiful partnership, I might add. I learned so much, and discovered so much about Alan’s style, and why it was the way it was. It fit his personality so perfectly. This album has Alan’s presence all over it. It is inside of us. So this is still, in my heart, Alan just being present and with us, and with me, in a big way.”

BUDDERSIDE
UNLEASH NEW SINGLE
“POWER HOUR”

TRACK FEATURED AS OFFICIAL THEME SONG FOR
AXS TV’S “POWER HOUR” ROCK SHOW
HOSTED BY MATT PINFIELD, CAITY BABS & JOSH BERNSTEIN

LISTEN/STREAM HERE

Image.jpeg

As Los Angeles, CA-based active/hard rock group BUDDERSIDE prepare to release their third album later this summer via oneRPM, the band have slowly been releasing out multiple singles over the past months including hard-hitters such as “Never Worth It,” “Too Far,” “The Truth,” “Ghostlighting,”“Voices,” and the recent emotional ballad “Joker” written to eulogize founding member/vocalist Patrick Stone’s late father. Several of the tracks have been highlighted on the rock entertainment/video countdown show “Power Hour”–hosted by VJ/music personality Matt Pinfield, SiriusXM VJ Caity Babs and music industry figure Josh Bernstein (Revolver Golden Gods, Loudwire)—who’ve also invited Stone to appear on the show several times and championed the band. BUDDERSIDE have released a new single, “POWER HOUR,” which was written as the official theme song for the show’s new weekly airing on AXS TV. Stream/download it now across all digital platforms HERE. You can also hear it by tuning into the “Power Hour” show every Wednesday at 7pm PT/10pm ET.

“The song is so catchy,” says host Caity Babs. “And if you’re not singing it after 30 seconds, you’re no fun!”

Host Josh Bernstein adds: “Budderside have quickly become one of the brighter lights in the hard rock scene with their razor sharp riffs and ear-candy choruses. I expect only big things ahead for the boys.”

Furthering his support for the band, host Matt Pinfield—who previously appeared in Budderside’s “Amber Alert” music video and performed a cover of the classic Motörhead song “Ace of Spades” with the band at the Whisky A-Go-Go in 2020—states: “This is a powerful in-your face hard rock song with an undeniable hook-and Budderside have delivered a true anthem for 2023. I really believe this could be their year!” – Matt Pinfield

BUDDERSIDE was formed by Stone following his stint as vocalist of Adler’s Appetite, after receiving encouragement from the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead who he worked for as part of his infamous ‘road crew’ and was also a close friend. Lemmy signed them to his own label, Motörhead Music and they released their self-titled debut album in 2016. The band issued their sophomore album Spiritual Violence in March 2021 via Motörhead Music/ Silver Lining Music which was recorded by legendary producer Jay Baumgardner (Bush, Godsmack, Papa Roach) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage) with guest appearances from Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell and Butcher Babies vocalist Carla Harvey.

BUDDERSIDE has toured extensively in the U.S. supporting acts including Motörhead, Slayer, Anthrax and L.A. Guns as well as being featured on international festivals including Rocklahoma, Wacken Open Air, Motörboat, Malmö Festival and the Monsters Of Rock cruise.  Catch them next at Welcome To Rockville on in Daytona, FL on May 18.

About Steve Trevino:

He started cutting his teeth in Dallas, Texas, working as a door guy at the Improv and earning himself a spot to open the iconic 2001 Three Amigos Comedy Tour. He quickly earned his stripes and an audience on the comedy club circuit, and he began headlining on his own by the age of 25. He delivered side-splitting performances on “The Late Late Show” and “Comics Unleashed,” and produced and wrote for international GRAMMY® Award-winning superstar Pitbull’s La Esquina.

His first Showtime special Grandpa Joe’s Son staked out a spot in the Nielsen Top 20. He funded, produced, and shot his 2014 runaway Netflix hit Relatable. To promote the special, he uploaded a clip titled “When Your Wife Comes Home From Shopping.” It exploded, generating 56 million views on Facebook alone and paving the way for heavily shared clips such as When You Ask Your Wife If She Wants McDonald’s” (21 million views) and “When Going to Vegas With Your Wife Goes Wrong” (4 million views). Co-produced by Nacelle, the follow-up special Steve Trevino ’Til Death arrived in 2018. Steve maintained his momentum by broadening his social media presence through fans redoing bits of his comedy specials and posting them to TikTok. In less than two years, that grassroots effort helped him build a worldwide fanbase on the platform from the ground up, amassing 4.8 million likes and over 50 million views on the platform, while also changing up his entire social media game.

He regularly raises money for Helicopters for Heroes, an organization benefiting veterans, for whom he helped raise over $1.5 million in the past two years.

6x Grammy-nominated THE SPINNERS are nominated for a fourth time for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. This recognition comes as the influential R&B vocal group, formed in 1954 in suburban Detroit, celebrate a 60+ decade career which has included consistent touring and massive hits–among them “I’ll Be Around,” “It’s A Shame,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “The Rubberband Man” and “Then Came You.” The latter song is their 1974 collaboration with Dionne Warwick that topped the pop charts at #1 and was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.” With their awe-inspiring vocal range and harmonic abilities on songs that elegantly merged smooth Philly soul with glistening pop, THE SPINNERS have left a big mark on the musical world.

2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in May, with the induction ceremony taking place this fall. The top five artists selected through fan voting will be tallied along with the ballots from the Rock Hall’s international voting body to determine the Class of 2023. Fans can vote online every day through April 28 at: https://vote.rockhall.com/en/

“It’s a pleasure being selected by this,” founding member Henry Fambrough told Billboard last month in a feature (2/1/23). “We’ve been in this position over years and years, but we just haven’t won anything yet. But it’s a pleasure being selected like this. When you’re nominated like that, at least someone is thinking about you. You’re not sitting at home not hearing anything–you know what I’m saying?”

THE SPINNERS have remained an actively touring group for decades, performing their beloved hits to audiences of all ages, and released a new album in 2021, Round the Block and Back Again. Their current line-up–Jessie Peck, Ronnie Moss, CJ Jefferson, and Marvin Taylor–is presently on the road performing shows with the O’Jays, Earl Young and the Trammps, the Commodores and Average White Band (AWB). See the tour dates below.

Their first single “That’s What Girls Are Made For” peaked at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop chart in 1961. Then, after almost a decade with Motown, THE SPINNERS signed to Atlantic Records in 1973. Label exec, Ahmet Ertegun’s instincts paired the group with Philadelphia’s Gamble & Huff Mighty Three Music partner and producer/songwriter Thom Bell. This musical partnership led to a string of six consecutive Top 40 pop albums, three of which went to No. 1 on the R&B chart. Between 1972 and 1980, the group landed 11 songs in the Top 20, with songs “I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “The Rubberband Man,” “It’s A Shame” and many more. In 1974, “Then Came You”–a collaboration with Dionne Warwick–topped the pop charts at #1 and was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.” “Working My Way Back to You” and the medley “Cupid/I’ve Been Loving You a Long Time” both charted in the Top 10, continuing the group’s longtime chart successes. They contributed two songs and made an appearance in the film The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh (music by Thom Bell). They performed the title track to the 1987 hit film Spaceball, and in 1983, the group guest starred as themselves on the smash TV sitcom “Laverne and Shirley.” The group also received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1976 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 1999. THE SPINNERS continue to record music and their cultural impact extends into movies and TV.

Grammy-nominated acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, composer and global touring artist TOMMY EMMANUEL has today (March 1) released the video for “White Freight Liner Blues,” his collaboration with Grammy-winning guitarist and singer Molly Tuttle, ahead of the song’s digital release on March 3. The song, a cover of the Townes Van Zandt classic, is the first single from EMMANUEL’s much-anticipated full-length collaborations album ACCOMPLICE TWO (see the track listing below), due out April 28 via CGP Sounds as the follow-up to his Accomplice One album in 2018.

WATCH the sheer musical joy in this video as both artists record “White Freight Liner Blues together. It was filmed in Nashville and directed by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard for Neighborhoods Apart Productions. The video was premiered yesterday by Guitar Player which described the collaboration as “spectacular.”

“My accomplices on this album are all in a league of giants to me,” says TOMMY. “They all inspire me to reach for the stars; to give my best while supporting them as they give their best. We all have a chemistry and electricity together when we play music. I wanted to capture this power in songs and performances that will stand the test of time.”

Playing with TOMMY was a dream come true for Tuttle, winner of the Best Bluegrass Grammy for 2022, for the album Crooked Tree made with her band Golden Highway. She says: “I’ve been a big fan of Tommy’s music since I was first learning to play guitar as a kid. I got to see him play a few times growing up and felt so inspired by his virtuosity on the instrument as well as his spirit as an entertainer. It was a dream come true to get to jam with Tommy on stage a few years back when he asked me to sit in with him during his set on Cayamo Cruise. That was the first time we played ‘White Freight Liner Blues’ together and I was thrilled when Tommy called and asked if we could cut it for his new album!”

Produced lovingly by EMMANUEL, regarded by guitar great Chet Atkins as “one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen,” the 16-track ACCOMPLICE TWO is a spirited mix of new takes on indelible classics and brand-new originals from TOMMY. His collaborators are some of the most remarkable musicians on the planet—an “A” list of musicians including Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson and Raul Malo.

The album is alive with the electric spirit of spontaneous, timeless joy created by inspired virtuosos. The combined artistry contained on these tracks is stunning, as is TOMMY’s cheerful ease at connecting naturally with this vast spectrum of musicians. Like the first volume, he merges the presence of beloved, legendary musicians—such as Jorma Kaukonen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little Feat, Sam Bush, the Del McCoury Band and Jerry Douglas—with the bright spirit of acclaimed young artists breaking through with deep artistry and true reverence for the power of song.

“I love the word ‘accomplice,” explains TOMMY, “because it’s deeper in meaning than `partner’ or `duet.’ I feel that the artists that are on this project are all so unique and gifted that all we had to do was find the right song, work up the arrangement, then record it live and its magic will appear!”

“This album takes risks and is unpredictable,” says TOMMY. “Hopefully it will delight the people who are ready to receive it in their open hearts, minds and ears. I love the fact that Raul Malo sings `Faraway Places’ so beautifully calm, powerful, yet true to Sam Cooke’s original version. Then Sam Bush and I become Homer & Jethro, on `Yeller Rose of Texas,’ a total spoof on the original.”

The album starts with TOMMY’s duet with Billy Strings, the Michigan-born guitarist who won the 2021 Grammy for Best Bluegrass for his album Home. Like TOMMY, Billy honors his roots while also expanding always as a musician. His energy combined with TOMMY’s is what launches this journey, on a two-song medley that honors his hero, Bluegrass legend Doc Watson. It starts with Doc’s own song “Doc’s Guitar” and segues into the “Black Mountain Rag,” an old fiddle tune that was Doc’s signature song.

TOMMY has often said that Michael McDonald is one of his favorite singers and songwriters. He’s played Michael’s songs through the years and recorded a beautifully tender version of “I Can Let Go Now” on his Heart Songs album with John Knowles. Now he’s got both—a song and the voice—on “Someone Like You,” co-written by Michael with Dennis Morgan. TOMMY, singing through the strings of his guitar, said he’s emulated the soulful warmth of McDonald’s vocals for decades, and is thrilled to have that sound on his album. Michael, like the other accomplices, was greatly moved by his inclusion. “After being a fan for so many years now,” says McDonald, “the chance to work with an artist and musician of Tommy Emmanuel’s capacity and stature is an immense honor.”

On his own song, “Mombasa,” TOMMY duets with Yasmin Williams, a unique solo guitarist who also plays kalimba, and plays both instruments here. “Mombasa,” she says, “is one of her favorite solo guitar songs ever.” They made the track alone, with no other musicians, which was surreal for her, she said, because he made it fun and easy. “Even though Tommy is one of the best guitarists in the world,” she adds, “the recording session wasn’t daunting at all because he made me feel super-relaxed throughout the session, and comfortable adding my own unique touches.”

Look for TOMMY’s concert special “Accomplice LIVE!”—featuring such guests as Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Sienna Hull and Yasmin Williams—to debut this month on PBS during pledge drive. Known to deliver shows that are truly a head-spinning experience, TOMMY will be on the road throughout 2023 in America, Europe and Australia. His tour dates are HERE.

ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL:

TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a CPG (Certified Guitar Player) by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year from Nashville to Sydney to London. He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominationstwo ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy); repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue; a cover feature for Vintage Guitar’s July 2020 issue; and was Music Radar’s reader’s poll #1 winner of the Ten Best Acoustic Guitarists in The World (December 2019). A noted fingerstyle guitarist, EMMANUEL frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but EMMANUEL never plays the same show twice, and he improvises big chunks of every date. That leaves him open to those technical imperfections, though they also provide some of the humanity to an other-worldly talent. On May 8, 2020, he released a newly recorded career-spanning double album, THE BEST OF TOMMYSONGS, via CGP Sounds/Cruzen Street Records). Watch the album trailer here which focuses on TOMMY’s unique ability to tell stories without words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SOQEMWYAQ4&feature=youtu.be. EMMANUEL subsequently released three EP’s with different collaborators, Accomplice Series Vol. 1, 2 and 3, the last of which was in 2022.

“Ian Gothe certainly knows his way around a guitar and very well might be one of the greatest guitar players you haven’t heard.”
Glide Magazine (7/20/22)

IAN GOTHE has today, March 1, shared an impassioned new single “Amphitrite,” marking the Los Angeles-based acoustic guitarist, singer, and songwriter’s first new music since his 2021 single “Upside Down” and 2020 debut album Memento. Scheduled for a March 3 digital release via Blackbird Record Label, “Amphitrite” showcases IAN’s eclectic blend of genres including world, classical and folk alongside prog rock and jazz stylings. Pre-save “Amphitrite” now at https://smithmusic.ffm.to/662582898125. Watch the video premiere of “Amphitrite”—directed by award-winning film director Prince Bagdasarian (Showtime’s Abducted) and blending concept scenes with IAN’s performance at the Covina Center For The Performing Arts, in Covina, California—on VEVO HERE and/or streaming below.

Based on the tales from Greek mythology of the song’s namesake, Amphitrite, the Goddess of the sea and wife of Poseidon, the single’s haunting music video shows the plight of Amphitrite, who is bound to the sea, being lured to land by IAN’s music and the toll such a journey takes on one’s body, mind and soul.

“‘Amphitrite’ was inspired by a painting I saw at an art exhibition titled ‘Goddess Of The Sea,’” shares IAN, who composed the song. “I’ve seen many images and have heard many stories about Amphitrite before but had never personally connected with anything until seeing that painting. Upon arriving home, a spark for my soul to speak was ignited, I picked up my guitar and the music began to flow.  The stirring that started inside haunted me until it was done.  When the song was complete, I felt a deep sense of peace. I hope that listeners may embark on a journey of their own upon hearing it and find a similar sense of peace when the music stops.”

IAN elaborates about the meaning behind “Amphitrite” music video: “To me the video evokes the emotion of a sense of yearning desire with urgency with no peace until one takes the journey to the source. The power that music has, like love, can cause one to travel great distances, to the point of getting lost, exhausted, and potentially found. It is a rite of passage to leave a place of safety and venture out to answer that call, exhausting as it may be, and possibly return, with a new knowledge of oneself.”

IAN, an Armenian-American born in Iran who came to Los Angeles as a teenager, spent much of his adolescence traveling across continents in search of a home. His initial musical inspiration came from a recording of the Doors’ “Spanish Caravan” which came full circle when he released a cover of the classic track on his 2020 debut album MEMENTO which caught the attention of The Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger who said: “I love it! It’s tough to cover Doors songs because the originals are so iconic. But Ian wasn’t afraid to stick to the original format and did a great job of capturing the feel.”

MEMENTO featured performances by all-star musicians Derek Frank (Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani), Tamir Barzilay (Macy Gray, Tal Wilkenfeld), Sam Babayan (The Dirty Diamond) and Fernando Perdomo (Jakob Dylan, Fiona Apple), the latter of which IAN would reunite with to produce his 2021 single “Upside Down.

IAN will further work with Perdomo on his next planned release, co-producing and recording a tribute album to one of IAN’s favorite bands, the English progressive rock group Camel, due this winter. IAN has also been working on new original material and plans to release his second full-length album shortly thereafter.

Multi-platinum hard rock heroes EXTREMEGary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass), and Kevin Figueiredo (drums)—have today (March 1) unveiled the video for “Rise,” which marks the first single from their upcoming album SIX, out June 9 via earMUSIC. Watch the band’s undeniable firepower and chemistry in the video, directed by Nuno and filmed in Los Angeles, streaming below or HERE. Listen/download “Rise” across all digital platforms at https://officialextreme.lnk.to/RISEWE. Stay tuned for news about the band’s 2023 tour plans.

“Musically, it’s aggressive,” says Gary about album opener “Rise.” “Lyrically, it’s a cautionary tale on the rise and fall of fame. You get seduced into it. Once you’re on top, they’ll rip you apart and tear you down. That’s the nature of the beast.”

“When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” shares Nuno. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record.”

“Rise” Single Art

With the force of a wrecking ball, EXTREME swing between unapologetic fits of fret-burning hard rock and intimately introspective balladry on the 12-track SIX, which also features such tracks as “Other Side of The Rainbow,” “#Rebel,” and “X Out.” For the recording of the Nuno-produced SIX, the members buckled down at his home studio in Los Angeles. Once again, they channeled the electrifying eclecticism that defined their seminal output with a 21st century twist.

This dynamic affirms the iconic Boston quartet as one of rock’s most unpredictable, undeniable, and unbreakable groups whose songs course through the very fabric of popular culture. They’re the rare band whose music has appeared in an actual cult series a la Bill & Ted as well as the Netflix juggernaut “Stranger Things.” They’ve sold 10 million records, topped the Billboard Hot 100 at #1, packed major venues on multiple continents, memorably performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in London, and regularly average over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. However, their dynamic approach hits harder than ever on their 2023 full-length offering, SIX.

“With Extreme, there’s always a lot of passion and a little piss and vinegar,” says Gary. “We’re not in competition with anybody else, but we strive to outdo ourselves. There are some moments on this album where we did. We’ve managed to stay together after all of these years. We feel like we have something to prove when we get on stage or in the studio. Because of that, I believe some of these songs are among the best we’ve written.”

“Whatever you think an Extreme album is after two or even three songs, it’s not,” states Nuno. “That goes for every record we’ve ever done. True Extreme fans know to ‘expect the unexpected.’ I feel like we need a good old school rock album. Six is definitely modern, but you can put on headphones and go on a journey from top-to-bottom. It’s like ‘Extreme 2.0’.”

About EXTREME:

Formed in 1985, the Boston group’s quiet grind resulted in the release of the self-titled Extreme in 1989. Among many highlights, “Play With Me” not only graced the soundtrack of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, but also the season 4 opener of “Stranger Things.” Meanwhile, Extreme II: Pornograffitti bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and eventually picked up a double-platinum certification. Of course, it notably spawned “Hole Hearted” (#4 on the Billboard “Hot 100”) and the generational smash “More Than Words.” The latter soared to #1 on the “Hot 100” and remains one of the most popular rock songs of all-time with over half-a-billion streams and 633 million YouTube views and counting. It appeared in the blockbuster comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, while Jimmy Fallon and Jack Black covered it (and reimagined the iconic video) on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Other covers ranged from The Piano Guys To Frankie J. In its wake, the gold-certified III Sides To Every Story saw them return to the Top 10 on the Billboard 200. Following Waiting for the Punchline (1995) and Saudades de Rock (2008), the musicians enraptured the masses on tour. Along the way, everyone from Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Brian May of Queen to John Mayer publicly sung their praises. Plus, they played to a sold-out crowd at Fenway Park opening for Aerosmith. On top of that, Gary was lead singer for Van Halen (Van Halen III) and has recorded and performed with Joe Perry, while Nuno has recorded and performed with Steven Tyler and Rihanna.
