“50 Years of Dark Side” celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s album masterpiece The Dark Side of the Moon. For this year’s world tour–featuring over two and a half hours of Pink Floyd music encompassing the band’s iconic career–the team have created a show that includes state-of-the-art visuals (lights, lasers and animation) which are all presented with immersive soundscapes and virtuosic musicianship.

Formed in 2011, Brit Floyd features performances supported by an immense, immaculately curated state of the art production, reverently emulating the stunning soundscapes and visuals of Pink Floyd’s iconic catalog. Brit Floyd is a celebration of authenticity, featuring musicians handpicked by Damian Darlington. The 2023 touring band includes Darlington (Guitarist, Vocalist and Musical Director), Ian Cattell (Vocals, Bass), Edo Scordo (Guitars, Vocals), Matt Riddle (Keyboards, Synths, Hammond, Vocals), Arran Ahmun (Drums, Percussions), Ryan Saranich (Saxophone, Percussions, Guitars, Bass, Keyboards), Randy Cooke (Drums and Percussion), Eva Avila (Lead and Backing Vocals), Genevieve Little (Backing Vocals), Jessie Lee Houllier (Backing Vocals) and Chess Galea (Backing Vocals). Historically, the shows have featured guest appearances from musicians from Pink Floyd’s studio and road line-ups: bassist/vocalist Guy Pratt joined Brit Floyd onstage at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in 2013 and Pink Floyd saxophonist/guitarist Scott Page has performed with the band on numerous occasions, as have Pink Floyd backing vocalists Roberta Freeman and Durga McBroom.

3x Grammy-nominated NOTHING MORE, lauded as one of mainstream rock’s most powerful and distinctive acts, have teamed up with rock singer/songwriter Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf) who is featured on a new version of the single “BEST TIMES” from NOTHING MORE’s 2022 album SPIRITS via Better Noise Music. “BEST TIMES (Feat. Lacey Sturm)” is out today (March 24), across all digital platforms and the group has also shared its music video, seen streaming below or HERE.

The music video for “BEST TIMES (Feat. Lacey Sturm)” was directed by Michael Lombardi (The Retaliators, Papa Roach, The HU) and takes an inside look at a couple’s relationship and how life’s ‘best times’ can sometimes pass us by without being acknowledged and is a reminder to appreciate those moments as they occur.

“This song is a real special one,” reveals NOTHING MORE frontman JONNY HAWKINS. “It’s definitely one of the most positive feel-good songs we’ve ever written and it obviously stands out on the album by being that ray of hope too. I didn’t think it could get any better, but when we thought about featuring another singer and Lacey’s name came up it was a no-brainer. She’s been a shining light and is one of those singers that makes you feel and believe every word out of her mouth whether you agree with it or not. We knew her voice would take it over the top… and that’s exactly what she did! We couldn’t be more proud to have her collaborate with us on this and to get it out to the world for everyone to feel and embrace when you need a song to help get you through.”

STURM comments: “I connected with Jonny’s story about his family struggles with his mother and sister. I love the painful beauty in any art that comes from wrestling with mental health and addiction. I’ve always looked for common ground with artists who deal with suicide prevention. My own struggle against self-destruction is also a struggle to not tear my loved ones apart. There is a perspective shift in this song.  Like a suffocating cloud, the heaviness of life turns to thankfulness and even joy over what matters most. Pain and loss can turn the lights on inside us, allowing us to see the good, all the ‘Best Times,’ we couldn’t see before. I’m relieved to be reminded by this song to remember what matters most and find gratitude. I need it.”

NOTHING MORE will bring their riveting live performance to virtual audiences on Sunday, April 9 as they’ve partnered with VEEPS to host a livestream show from their headlining NYC tour stop at Irving Plaza. Tickets for the livestream event are on-sale now HERE. The stop is part of NOTHING MORE’s “SPIRITS 2023” U.S. tour which stretches from March 31 in Richmond, VA until the band’s featured set at Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, OH on May 28 and features supporting acts Crown The Empire and Thousand Below. The rock quartet will then make their way overseas to hit several of the top rock festivals across Europe including Hellfest (France), KNOTFEST (Italy), Graspop (Belgium) and more in addition to a newly added headlining show in London, UK on June 19 at O2 Islington Academy. Find all upcoming shows and tickets, plus VIP upgrade options at https://nothingmore.net/tourdates.

NOTHING MORE will be bringing copies of their debut graphic novel, “SPIRITS VOL.1,” (Z2 Comics) on upcoming tour dates for fans to purchase along with fulfilling all online pre-orders. The puzzle box narrative was written by Dan Watters (King Diamond’s Abigail, Lucifer, Azrael) and illustrated by Christian Rosado. Adhering to the themes of NOTHING MORE’s recent SPIRITS album, “SPIRTS VOL. 1” follows the lives of four individuals from 1952 to modern day, and examines how the unexpected manifestation of their spirit types alter and shape their destinies for a greater purpose. The spirit types were formed from the results of taking the band’s own meta-personality “SPIRITS TEST” released concurrent with the new album. Reserve your copy now HERE.

NEW YORK 17TH MARCH 2023; FROM ASHES TO NEW are ready to break boundaries with their hybrid, high-energy mix of hard rock, nu-metal/hip-hop, electronic and alternative that’s underlined throughout their new album BLACKOUT, due July 28 via Better Noise Music. BLACKOUT’s concept is that it’s a prequel to their 2016 debut album DAY ONE. BLACKOUT encapsulates the distress of a pre-apocalyptic world mirroring the frame of mind the world felt during the 2020 pandemic during which time the album was written. It marks a return to FROM ASHES TO NEW’s roots with a sound that’s a fresh spin on the sound that broke them onto the scene.

Filled with heavy driven music—including previously released singles “Nightmare” and “Heartache”—and angsty lyrics that all walks of people can find common ground with, the band teamed up with longtime collaborators and producers Grant McFarland and Carson Slovak to hone in on the original music that led the smalltown-based group to breaking their way into top of the 21st century rock vanguard. With four Top 10 Billboard singles, over 600 million all-time streams across Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Pandora and Deezer, more than 75 million YouTube views, sold-out shows across the country and critical acclaim from Loudwire, Alternative Press and more, FROM ASHES TO NEW are poised to make 2023 the biggest year of their career to date. Get ready for BLACKOUT and pre-order a copy on CD, cassette and/or vinyl at https://fatn.ffm.to/blackout.

FROM ASHES TO NEW have released another sample of BLACKOUT with their latest single, “Hate Me Too,” out today (March 17) across all digital platforms. The anthemic track is paired with a dark comedy music video which contains an over-the-top American Psycho Christian Bale style representation of an internal struggle and mental anguish of erupting emotions and fantasies when relationships fall apart. Watch it streaming below or directly on YouTube HERE. Stream/download “Hate Me TooHERE.

“So many of us fall victim to the classic toxic relationship,” says vocalist Matt Brandyberry. “Feeling like you can’t live without someone but knowing you’d be better off if you could. Oftentimes these feelings are mutual, but neither of you can see it. Sometimes we just need an anthem to remind us that being stuck isn’t always the only option and violence never is.”

“‘It’ll Never Happen Again’ reinterprets Hardin’s timeless and personal songs with grace and elegance, with one veteran singer-songwriter paying subtle and deeply-felt tribute to another.”
THE SECOND DISC, 2/23/23

JEFF LARSON—the veteran singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay area now living in Southern California—tomorrow (March 17) will release IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, his six-song tribute EP to the late iconic singer and songwriter Tim Hardin. The EP, featuring all Hardin originals, was produced by Gerry Beckley of America and is LARSON’s first release on Nashville-based label Melody Place. LARSON has also shared below a song-by-song comments about each track on the EP.

The latest and second single “If I Were A Carpenter” was premiered by Rock And Roll Globe which told readers to “…give his stunning take on a Tim Hardin standard a listen.”

Watch the video for the album’s first single “Reason To Believe,” featuring a performance by LARSON that’s combined with archival imagery of Hardin, HERE.

IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN was produced, arranged and mixed by Beckley and features “Reason to Believe,” It’ll Never Happen Again,” “If I Were A Carpenter,” Don’t Make Promises,” “Misty Roses,” and “How Can We Hang On To A Dream.” LARSON (on lead vocals and acoustic guitar) is musically joined by Beckley (piano, acoustic and electric guitars, organ, accordion, strings bass, drums) and an array of fine musicians including Joachim Cooder (electric mbira, drums, percussion) and Matt Combs (mandola, fiddle). The EP was recorded at studios in Sydney, Australia and Southern California.

LARSON is now working on his next solo album, his first since 2014. It’s due in the fall of 2023.

JEFF LARSON
SONG-BY-SONG COMMENTS:
‘IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN’

1. Reason To Believe

When selecting songs for the EP, it was hard not to cover some obvious ones.  Reason to Believe, like other Tim Hardin songs, is more well known as recordings by other artists, in this case, Rod Stewart’s 1993 version.  It’s a song that is “in the air” and familiar to many.  I think the goal in covering a song like this is just to associate the lyric to a relationship I had experienced and go from there.

2. It’ll Never Happen Again

As I mentioned, Gerry produced the EP and this was the first song he suggested I cover.  Six months had passed before I sang the song.  I had done an acoustic demo and played around with various mics, but didn’t really get too far in.  One evening I was working with an old Telefunken tube mic and that’s when it felt right – right up close. From there it was like many of these songs in that it took only a handful of takes to lock in.  Without being trite, it has to come from the heart – you have to get yourself “there” and hope it comes through.  Like most of the songs on the EP, it’s a very direct and honest human emotion, and I did get lost in it …  “always the rain around my eyes” … It’s just a beautiful piece of songwriting.  I love the production approach Gerry did on the track.

3. If I Were A Carpenter

Best known as a cover by Bobby Darin, Johnny Cash & June Carter, and others, it has some great imagery. I thought it would be perceived as a little outdated, but I was wrong. Insecurity of the man, in this case, to be worthy of the Lady. It’s a relationship and an honorable song that way. Joachim Cooder added his touch on drums, percussion, and electric mbira, and Brian Eichelberger of the Beach Boys band helped with harmonies.

4. Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Keep

This is a little anthem and self-explanatory. I love the fact that he could do these types of songs short and to the point and cover so much ground. They stick with you like an anthem, and to me, it works well as a song and message in this EP song cycle. It has been said, Tim Hardin never overstayed his welcome with his songs. This one is the perfect example of that.

5. Misty Roses

I shamefully did not have much experience in hearing this song before we started this project. It’s really a standard and was not hard to attach myself to it. I think this was just one or two takes on the lead vocal and I only remember closing my eyes and singing in my own space.

6. How Can We Hang On to a Dream

This was the last song approached and is basically me and an acoustic guitar trying to get the essence of the song down in a sparse way. There’s some slight embellishment as it carries on, but the thought was to end the EP with a quiet reflection. The song has a sense of despair throughout, but it’s a relatable emotion in the life of a relationship.

ABOUT JEFF LARSON:

JEFF LARSON is a veteran singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay area. Musically, Jeff got his start under the wing of producer Elliot Mazer (Neil Young, The Band) playing in clubs and venues throughout the Bay area. As a native Californian, the influences are obviously present and reach from the golden era of L.A.’s Laurel Canyon singer-songwriter scene to the Bay area’s musical heritage and the tension between the two. While remaining a solo artist, he’s collaborated with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America, Chicago’s Robert Lamm, John Blakeley of The Sandals, and Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin, among others. His prolific body of work created over the years has been released by various means and labels with licensing opportunities with JVC Victor Japan, Universal / Rhino, BMG and others from The Netherlands to Japan. “Larson’s earnest vocals and unwaveringly engaging folk-rock-country songs have an alluring feel,” wrote the San Jose Mercury News in 2011 about his album The World Over. “Larson’s warm, wonderful songs will grab you immediately and just get better with each subsequent listening. Every one of the 10 numbers here proves to be an individual gem.”

–David Fricke, Rolling Stone Magazine

GRAND FUNK RAILROAD celebrates the 50th anniversary of their 1973 “We’re An American Band” platinum single and album with 2023’s “The American Band Tour,” performing multiple shows across the country and dynamically underlining their trademark “Rock and Soul” classics.

Original founding member Don Brewer (vocals and drums) is the writer and singer of “We’re An American Band,” from the band’s seventh album. One of rock’s definitive anthems, the platinum-certified single went all the way to #1 on the Billboard “Hot 100” chart.

Says Don: “‘We’re An American Band’ came to me when we were flying from town to town on our “Phoenix Tour” in 1972. We were being sued by our former manager Terry Knight and he was trying to stop us from performing. The line “We’re comin’ to your town, we’ll help you party it down” came to me first and I wrote the song around that line. Taking snippets of things going on during the tour at that time, like staying up all night with Freddy King playing poker, four young chiquitas in Omaha, sweet sweet Connie in Little Rock, and finally the declaration, ‘We’re An American Band,’ because it sounds great and sings well. I feel lucky and blessed every time we play it live.”

As part of this year’s itinerary, the legendary rock & roll powerhouse will be the “special guests” of Kid Rock for two hometown shows in Michigan at Little Caesars Arena on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15. See GRAND FUNK RAILROAD’s full tour itinerary below.

BREWER took the time to talk about building the perfect set list and also discuss highlights of the GRAND FUNK RAILROAD set list, which is packed with one hit after another including of course the enduring “We’re An American Band.” His Q&A can be viewed here.

ABOUT GRAND FUNK RAILROAD:

Originating from Flint, Michigan in 1969, this top selling American rock group of the 70’s is “COMIN’ TO YOUR TOWN TO HELP YOU PARTY IT DOWN.” Grand Funk Railroad is extremely excited to be touring in 2023 marking a 54-year milestone. After playing to millions of fans on the band’s tours from 1996 to 2022, Grand Funk’s 2023 AMERICAN BAND TOUR will continue to reach both new and long-time fans. The band will perform 45 shows throughout 2023.

Known as “The American Band,” the high-energy five-piece group will play forty shows all over the USA this year. Grand Funk Railroad includes original founding members Don Brewer (vocals and drums, writer and singer of the multi-million selling hit, “We’re An American Band”) and bassist Mel Schacher, “The God of Thunder.” Joining Don and Mel are true “All Stars.” Singer Max Carl is a rock veteran from 38 Special. Max penned and sang 38’s biggest hit “Second Chance” and was co-founder of California’s legendary Jack Mack and the Heart Attack. Don refers to Max as “the best blue-eyed soul singer on the planet. Lead guitarist Bruce Kulick is best known for his 12 years with KISS and has credits with Michael Bolton, Meatloaf and Billy Squier. (KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were influenced early on by Grand Funk.) Keyboardist Tim Cashion has a master’s degree in music from the University of Miami. Affectionately called “Dr. Tim,” his credits include stints with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and English soul man Robert Palmer.

Grand Funk laid the groundwork for such bands as Foreigner, Journey, Van Halen and Bon Jovi with its signature hard driving sound, soulful vocals, muscular instrumentation and forceful pop melodies. The fact that Grand Funk’s legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth in Flint, Michigan is a testament to the group’s influence and staying power. Mega-hits “We’re an American Band,” “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home,”” Locomotion,” and “Some Kind of Wonderful” still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. We’re an American Band has received notoriety in recent years being used in movie soundtracks and in television/radio advertising. The huge hit was featured in a General Motors national TV ad campaign and in Disney’s animated feature film The Country Bears. “We’re An American Band” was featured in the Cuba Gooding Jr. film RADIO, and in the swash buckler SAHARA starring Matthew McConaughey.

Internationally acclaimed Grand Funk has toured the world, selling out in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Japan and South America. A 1971 performance at New York’s Shea Stadium sold out faster than the Beatles. The group’s widespread appeal is also evident in its prestigious recording achievements. Over their career, Grand Funk has had 19 charted singles, 8 Top 40 hits and two Number One singles (“We’re An American Band” and “Locomotion,” both selling more than one million each). The group has now accumulated 13 gold and 10 platinum records with record sales exceeding 25 million copies sold worldwide. The most recent gold CD award was presented to the band for their greatest hits package Grand Funk Railroad the Collectors Series.

The multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and creates a new chapter in the legacy of Grand Funk Railroad. GFR drew 25,000 people to their Molson Canal Series Concert outside Buffalo, 20,000 in Albany, New York, and 20,000 fans to downtown Orlando, Florida. EMI/Capitol (Universal Music) released a new Grand Funk Greatest Hits package that includes a bonus DVD of rare concert footage. Grand Funk Railroad’s 2022 SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL TOUR was a huge success and now, with the group’s 2023 THE AMERICAN BAND TOUR, seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans discovering the group for the first time will be able to celebrate the 50th ANNIVERSARY OF WE’RE AN AMERICAN BAND with GRAND FUNK RAILROAD!

Dallas, TX-based rock & roll collective HOLY ROLLER BABY have shared their first new music since the release of their 2020 debut album FRENZY with a swagger-filled cover of Edwyn Collins’ 1994 hit single “A Girl Like You.” The track is highlighted by a “bluesy, rock & roll touch” according to MXDWN who premiered its music video yesterday (March 15). HOLY ROLLER BABY frontman/founder Jared Mullins was inspired to cover the track after witnessing a woman dying in front of him during a flood—when the original song was playing on his car radio.

“I saw her die, I was there,” shares MULLINS. “I was 18 years old, hell-bent on getting out of a small Midwestern town with a new pair of wheels. I was driving in the country during a very bad thunderstorm–the kind you’re normally supposed to take cover for. I didn’t. I was dumb. I kept driving even as the water on the road piled up and eventually became too much for myself and a batch of equally arrogant drivers who thought they could weather any storm. Eventually the water levels rose so much it flooded my car as I came to an underpass. The bridge water was high and as I came to a stop, I saw in the distance that a few other drivers were helping a woman who couldn’t get out of her car. ‘A Girl Like You’ was playing on the radio as I watched her go from thrashing in the water to limp in the span of seconds. I’ve never forgotten that image and I’ve never forgotten the way this song made me feel–wild, alive, and helplessly human at the same time. Every time it comes on, I think of the woman in the water. For me, she is the ‘Girl Like You’ the song sings about.”

HOLY ROLLER BABY enlisted producer/engineer Ian Davenport (Radiohead, Band of Skulls) and Casey Di Iorio to record “A Girl Like You” at Valve Studios (Blues Traveler, Bowling For Soup) in Dallas earlier this year. Ahead of its digital release tomorrow (March 17), the collective have today released its music video, filmed during their studio sessions. Watch it streaming below or via YouTube HERE.

HOLY ROLLER BABY have spent the past few months in the UK with Davenport at Radiohead’s Courtyard Studios in Oxfordshire working on their sophomore album due out later this year. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months.

World-famous French Nordic folk collective SKÁLD released their highly anticipated third album HULDUFÓLK in January via Decca Records France / Decca Records U.S. (UMG). The songs trantsspor listeners into the band’s mystical soundscape using traditional Old Norse instrumentation and language while sharing Scandinavian legends from poets and shamans of otherworldly beings, aka the “Huldufolk” (translated to “hidden people”), coexisting with humankind. Sharing supernatural and hauntingly cinematic music and lyric videos for previously released singles “Troll Kalla Mik” (“They Call Me Troll”), “Då Månen Sken” (“When The Moon Shone”) and their cover of the iconic Rammstein single “Du Hast,” the band have released a bewitching music video for the album’s latest single “Elverhøy” (“Elf”), streaming on Vevo now HERE.

Elverhøy” is about a young woman who meets two young elves who drag her into a hellish round and promise to give her the knowledge of runes,” shares SKÁLD’s mastermind Christophe Voisin-Boisvinet. “The music is a continuation of the text with its dancing form and is punctuated by nyckelharpa solos.

SKÁLD had previously announced plans for their first-ever North American tour to take place this April, but due to circumstances beyond their control, the tour has been postponed to the fall.
