Gold-certified British rockers ASKING ALEXANDRIA landed their second-ever #1 Active Rock radio-charting single with WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE’s “Psycho” which has over 10 million streams and 1.1 million views for its action-packed music video; watch it HERE. The song relays the feeling of being trapped inside one’s own head and feeling like you’re going through a psychotic break trying to keep afloat despite internal vices, current global affairs, social media indulgences and expectations, and so much more of the tumultuousness of the present-day world we live in.

SoCal alternative rock band DIRTY HEADS released the digital deluxe release of their 2022 album Midnight Control on July 14. It featured an additional 14 tracks to the original 10-track album including a new acoustic version of their hit single “Rescue Me” which spent the entire month of August at #1 on the Alternative radio charts. The album also had its first-ever vinyl pressing on June 16.
DIRTY HEADS appeared on national TV performing on NBC’s “The Today Show” on July 17 performing their Top 5 hit “Life’s Been Good”—their take on the Joe Walsh original song–which has been streamed over 30 million times since its release in May of 2022.

Emo rock outfit THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT cater to their spooky side, having released their digital EP SOUNDS FROM THE ABYSS (VOL. 1) just in time for Halloween this year. It featured their two breakthrough covers of goth/horror cult songs “Mad World” (Tears For Fears) and “Creep” (Radiohead).
The band held several “devotion ceremonies” this year, delivering their theatrical presentation to their dedicated fanbase, the ‘Coffin Crew,’ on the Emo Dreams tour with Icon For Hire, Conquer Divide and Concrete Castles and opening for Ice Nine Kills at their Silver Scream horror convention concert.

Tommy Henriksen (guitarist and musical director for Alice Cooper’s band & member of Hollywood Vampires) has shared the second single from the debut album from his new project CROSSBONE SKULLY, “The Boom Went The Boom” featuring Phil Collen of Def Leppard; watch the music video HERE.
Legendary producer Mutt Lange emerged from retirement to executive produce the album and was reunited with Collen on this track after having produced and co-wrote several of Def Leppard’s monumental albums.

“I’ve been a fan of the Snowbirds since I was a kid and always will be,” says CORY. “When I started my music career, I was attending the Royal Military College of Canada enrolled as a pilot, hoping to become a Snowbird one day,’ CORY shares. “Working with the Snowbirds team is a true inspiration and I’m extremely proud and humbled to have my song played during their demonstrations across North America in the 2023 season.”

Walking the fine line between outlaw country and hard rock, the North Bay, ON native is undoubtedly himself, not just as a musician, but as a person. Growing up, CORY developed passions for hockey, flying, and playing the drums like his hero, Rush’s Neil Peart, before he began performing live music at a local bar while studying to become a fighter pilot.

In 2019, he released his hit single “Outlaws and Outsiders,” featuring legendary artists Mick Mars (Motley Crue), Travis Tritt and Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch), which recently received Platinum certification in Canada. The track achieved great success, reaching Top 10 on the US Rock Radio charts, #3 on German Rock Radio and peaked at #12 on the Canadian Rock charts. The single now has over 123 million streams worldwide, adding to CORY’s 188 million total global streams to date. 2020 saw the release of CORY’s critically acclaimed album WHO I AM, spawning fan favorites like “Devil’s Grin” and “Blame It On The Double”. Dan Waite (a Billboard 2022 International Power Player) has just marked his sixth year at Better Noise Music. Moving up from President to CEO, his new title as CEO represents his second promotion at the label. Waite is Chair of Impala’s Digital Committee and sits on the AIM Digital Committee and has a 360-background encompassing all the elements of the modern music industry. Prior to joining BNM, Waite was Head of Talent for Time Inc and NME; worked with screen talent at BBC Studios; and was Head of Programming for AEG at The O2 Arena. His background includes a role as manager/agent for Phil McIntyre in a joint venture with Simon Cowell, and at MTV, Waite’s responsibilities included looking after the major label relationships and working on the MTV Europe Awards, “Pimp My Ride,” “Diary of,” and “Making the Video” and overseeing talent for the MTV Networks Europe South Channels of France, Spain, Italy and Greece. His early major label career included Universal Music and Virgin Records.

Steve Kline is now the President of BNM in addition to retaining his title as COO, the position he has held since 2016. He has worked for 18 years under the Kovac Media umbrella, first at 10th Street Entertainment, and since its inception in 2006, Better Noise Music where he was SVP Marketing & Promotion. Kline’s experience encompasses label and artist management, marketing, promotion, and branding; he possesses an extensive network of relationships and experience across multiple media platforms within the entertainment space. Kline’s background includes serving as VP of Promotion of Clive Davis’ J Records as well as VP West Coast Promotion of Columbia Records/Sony Music.

BETTER NOISE MUSIC (BNM)—the leading independent music label founded in 2006 by music industry veteran and independent pioneer Allen Kovac whose roster boasts many of mainstream rock’s top acts including FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, HELLYEAH, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, BAD WOLVES and NOTHING MORE—has announced a series of new hires and promotions across the company’s global offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Toronto and Sydney. The label was named Billboard’s #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Label as well as #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint of 2022; the latter distinction is a historic one since the label has held this title for five consecutive years (2018-2022).

Internally, BETTER NOISE MUSIC has promoted Trish Sterling to VP, Marketing from her position as Senior Label Manager. Claudia Mancino has been promoted to International Director of Press & Promotion from her prior role as UK & Europe Promotions Manager. Harris Masood, who joined BETTER NOISE in 2013 as a Finance Manager and has since worked his way up the ranks to his most recent title, SVP, Finance, has been promoted to CFO. Chekesha McCalla has also been promoted to VP, Finance from her role as Director of Financial Operations. Additional promotions include Dan Sears to Director of Production and Michael Filippone to Finance Manager.

The company has also announced several new hires. Michael Lombardi has been appointed as Head of Production and Development. Lombardi co-produced and starred in Better Noise’s film production company, Better Noise Films recent 2022 release THE RETALIATORS and has directed and co-produced recent music videos and digital content for label’s past and current acts including PAPA ROACH, MÖTLEY CRÜE, THE HU and more.

Additional Better Noise staff hires include former SONY staffer Paolo Bettaglio as Senior Director of Digital Marketing & Audience Growth; his first act was hiring Elise Nye as Senior Manager of Digital Marketing & Audience Growth.

Further rounding off the new hires are Chandler Booth as Marketing Manager and Liam Kay as Production Coordinator.
