FOR ‘RIDE THROUGH THE COUNTRY’ ALBUM RELEASED IN 2008

Pictured, from left: Jamey Johnson, Colt Ford

When COLT FORD took the stage last night (9/17/19) at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, little did he know the surprise that awaited him as he exited the stage after his performance and standing ovation. Country star Jamey Johnson presented FORD with an RIAA gold certified plaque marking sales of more than 500,000 units of Ride Through The Country, FORD‘s debut album released in 2008 featuring Johnson on the track, “Cold Beer.”

The RIAA certification comes just days before FORD releases his seventh album, We The People, Volume 1, this Friday, September 20 (Average Joes Entertainment). Ford‘s new video and radio single, “Slow Ride” feat./Mitchell Tenpenny, debuted on CMT Music and CMT.com this week.

ABOUT COLT FORD:
Colt Ford consistently blazes his own trail. By doing so, the Georgia singer, songwriter, rapper, musician, performer, and co-founder and co-owner of Average Joes Entertainment keeps up pace as country’s preeminent independent maverick. Selling over 3 million albums, attracting millions of followers on social media and hitting 1 billion-plus streams, the country artist’s dynamic discography spans collaborations with everyone from Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, and Jermaine Dupri to members of No Doubt, Lit, and Lady Antebellum. Additionally, he co-wrote Jason Aldean’s #1 hit “Dirt Road Anthem” and Brantley Gilbert’s #1 hit “Country Must Be Country Wide” as a behind-the-scenes force in the studio. Moreover, Ford’s solo tradition of genre-blurring continued on “Love Hope Faith” in 2017 by way of cuts such as “Reload” [feat. Taylor Ray Holbrook]. On “We The People Volume 1,” Ford continues to evolve his artistry and-as only he can-amp things up even further.

THE DOCUMENTARY FILM ‘TOMMY EMMANUEL-THE ENDLESS ROAD’
TO HAVE ITS U.S. PREMIERE AT THE 50TH NASHVILLE FILM FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 5 WITH TOMMY EMMANUEL AND THE FILMMAKERS IN ATTENDANCE

ESTEEMED GUITARIST AND COMPOSER TO TOUR
THROUGHOUT 2019 AND INTO 2020

“If you like guitar playing, it simply doesn’t get any better than Tommy.”
Jason Isbell

“Tommy is one of the most musically welcoming artists I know!”
Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane)

TOMMY EMMANUEL is the esteemed Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer, prolific recording artist and performer whose must-see shows all over the world combine virtuosity with his engaging storytelling wit. The fascinating story behind the musician and the man is now told in the documentary film Tommy Emmanuel-The Endless Road, directed by Jeremy Dylan and produced by Jaime Lewis.

The documentary will have its U.S. premiere at the 50th Nashville Film Festival which takes place October 3-12. The film’s premiere is set for Saturday October 5 at 3:00 PM with TOMMY and the filmmakers in attendance, followed by a Q&A. An encore screening of the film will be on Monday October 7 at 1:00 PM.   It will be screening at Regal Hollywood Theaters, 719 Thompson Lane – Nashville, TN 37204. Tickets are available here. Watch a trailer for the film here.

This past July, Tommy Emmanuel-The Endless Road had its world premiere at Australia‘s Melbourne Film Festival where it won Best Music Documentary.” Says TOMMY: “It’s very appropriate that the film has its US debut in Nashville because Nashville has been a big part of my life, not just musically but I have so many friends here and so many influences, it’s a great city.”

“The journey of Tommy Emmanuel is a quintessentially Nashville story,” says director Jeremy Dylan. “Tommy’s relationship with mentor, surrogate father and ‘Mayor of Music City’ Chet Atkins is an emotional backbone of the film, Nashville is the refuge that turns into a home as Tommy’s marriage crumbles and he is forced rebuild his life and the climax of the film as a scorching performance at the Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman.”

Tommy Emmanuel-The Endless Road is the story of guitar icon TOMMY EMMANUEL, whose journey takes him from Australia’s youngest guitar prodigy to the world’s most acclaimed acoustic guitarist. Revelations about the father he idolized send TOMMY into a decades-long battle with addiction, which threatens to derail his family and career, even as he drives himself to become one of the world’s most compelling performers.

ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL:
TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a Certified Guitar Player by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year from Nashville to Sydney to London. He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominationstwo ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy) and repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue. A noted fingerstyle guitarist, EMMANUEL frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but EMMANUEL never plays the same show twice, and he improvises big chunks of every date. That leaves him open to those technical imperfections, though they also provide some of the humanity to an other-worldly talent.

Colt Ford Talks New Album, Life On The Road and More

DATE: SEPTEMBER 12, 2019

COLT FORD
TALKS ABOUT HIS NEW ALBUM,
LIFE ON THE ROAD AND MORE IN NEW Q&A
AS THE SEPTEMBER 20 RELEASE OF
‘WE THE PEOPLE VOLUME 1’ NEARS

As corny as this sounds, I would wish that everyone could just be more tolerant of stuff you don’t like and find common ground with each other. I’m sure that sounds dumb to most but it’s honest.”

Country star and multi-million selling artist COLT FORD talks about his new album, life on the road and more in a new Q&A as the September 20 release date for his much-anticipated seventh album, WE THE PEOPLE VOLUME 1 gets closer (the Q&A is below and posted here). The 14-song album (Average Joes Entertainment) includes the latest hit “Slow Ride,” the groove-driven song featuring guest vocals by number-one hitmaker, Mitchell Tenpenny, to create a seriously infectious blend. Pre-order the album hereThe accompanying video for “Slow Ride” featuring Tenpenny was directed by Ed Pryor for Hideout Pictures and recently premiered on “YouTube Premieres” here.

FORD and his band are currently touring the country with a special appearance set for September 17 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville alongside Carly Pearce, The Mavericks, Mark Wills, Dillon Carmichael and more. The entire line up will be announced the week of the show. View the tour dates here.

COLT FORD Q&A
September 2019

You gave up your role as a pro golfer for music.  What pulled the trigger for you to make that change?

COLT FORD: Music has always been my first love and although I did some other stuff, including playing golf for a living and being a golf teacher, I could never make music go away in my head and heart. I was born to do this.

Your new album ‘We The People, Volume 1’ (September 20, 2019, via Average Joes Entertainment) is a strong collection of songs, guest artists, grooves and lyrics.  What is the thread that ties it all together so seamlessly?

FORD: I like my records to take you on a journey of sound and time and space and evoke emotions of all sorts. I think this is the best job I have done yet.

Where were you when you performed your first concert on the big stage that kinda took your breath away?

FORD: Well the first really big show was on a July 4th in Georgia years ago. They were expecting 300-400 people but about 3,000-4,000 showed up. We got done about 8:30pm and there were fireworks for about 30 minutes, I was still signing autographs until after midnight. It was just crazy.

What artists did you listen to growing up in Athens, GA that influenced the music you write and perform today?

FORD: I’ve always been all across the board with music. I know, I’m strange, but it’s the truth. To say a particular artist wouldn’t be fair to so many.

What is your survival kit for the road-the two or three must-have items?

FORD: Well, I would say my golf clubs, some olives and pickles and my Crystal Light Blue Raspberry stuff I put in my water. (Laughs)

You still play a lot of golf, right?  How many times a year would you say you play and who are some of your golf “besties”?

FORD: I still play as much as I can, but I would say I probably play 30 times a year–it’s in sections really. I will start to play well, then go a month and don’t make a swing–it’s frustrating at times. I have a lot of guys I enjoy playing with; Jake Owen, George Birge from Waterloo Revival, Charles Kelley, my manager TK, and I love playing with my buddy Toby Keith, and a lot of PGA tour players who I’m friends with.

You recently spent your July 4th, not with family, and not with close friends.  Instead you traveled across the globe to perform for our troops.  What does that do to your head? And what does that do to your heart?

FORD: Well, I’m not a political guy. I don’t like when artists or celebrities run their mouth like it’s the gospel truth–when it’s just your opinion. What I do believe is that we truly owe the men and women who fight and sacrifice everything for our freedom. Getting to be on a base on the other side of the world and play for those amazing men and women is the most special thing I have ever done. It’s food for my soul.

If you had a magic wand and you could waive it one time only, what would you wish for?

FORD: As corny as this sounds, I would wish that everyone could just be more tolerant of stuff you don’t like and find common ground with each other. I’m sure that sounds dumb to most but it’s honest.

Being such a multi-dimensional personality, what’s next for Colt Ford – your own TV Talk show, a comedic actor in a film (you have a great sense of humor by the way), or maybe might you try your hand at bull-riding or some other extreme activity?

FORD: Well I don’t need any extreme activities anymore, but I would love to do a talk show and movies and acting is a passion. So can someone make that happen (laughs)?

ICE NINE KILL’s 5 MOST ‘SAVAGE’ SONGS
(& THE MOVIES THAT INSPIRED THEM)

– by Spencer Charnas

1. “THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE” / A Nightmare On Elm Street
“Our album kicks off with a sinister tribute to the 1984 Wes Craven classic, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. The entire premise of a killer hunting you in your dreams is so genius because no matter what you do, no one can escape eventually falling asleep– so therefore your death at the hand (or glove, rather) of Mr. Krueger is imminent. Charles Bernstein’s almost sci-fi like score sets the perfect tone for this film, and we wanted to pay homage to that in our own INK fashion.”

2. “THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY / Friday the 13th
“Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake! Home of the most twisted mother/son murder duo this side of Hell. On this track we bring the world of Jason Voorhees, his mother and those poor doomed counselors into the theatrical metal stylings of Ice Nine Kills. Complete with nods to Harry Manfredini’s iconic score, a guest spot from our gifted pianist friend Joe Occhiuti, our own take on important character dialogue from the movie and a campfire sing along that turns from rapidly from a  “kumbaya” vibe to a machete slicing breakdown, this song should remind all you sex crazed teens out there to stay the hell out of Jason’s woods!”

3. “STABBING IN THE DARK” / Halloween
“There’s been a million slasher imitators that were released in the wake of John Carpenter’s 1978 holy grail of horror film, Halloween, but almost none have ever come close to matching the sheer terror of Michael Myers and that expressionless white mask. This is our love letter to the night HE came home.
Lyrically we take you through Michael’s journey of escaping from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium all the way through his famous rampage in Haddonfield, IL. The movie, and hopefully our ode to it, will confirm that no one in fact can kill the boogeyman.”

 4. “SAVAGES” / The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
“They say everything is bigger in Texas and this is exactly the mentality we had when penning our tribute to Tobe Hooper’s seminal and brutal 1974 cult classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The song never lets up the entire way through just like the deranged cannibal family that it’s based on. If the film as well as the song should teach you one thing, it’s don’t f*ck with the locals… especially in Texas.”

5. “MERRY AXE-MAS” / Silent Night, Deadly Night
In 1984 a small budget killer Santa slasher film, with an unbelievably clever marketing campaign and premise, was unleashed on the public to a heavy backlash from PTA groups across the country. Banned almost immediately upon its release, it’s infamous reputation only fueled the hype and granted this film the eventual cult status it so deserved. Directed by Charles E. Sellier Jr. and penned by Michael Hickey, we wanted to make this song as sleazy, funny and violent as the movie that it was inspired by. FA-LA-LA-LA-LA…Feliz Navi-dead!

Fans across several major U.S. cities were sent on a scavenger hunt over the past week, as ICE NINE KILLS revealed locations on social media with directions to ‘Find the red balloon,’ a reference to the classic Stephen King novel-turned-movie IT, which inspired their song, “IT Is The End.” The first five fans at each location walked away with a branded red balloon and origami paper boat, a poster of the band and were also able to see a sneak peek of the song’s upcoming music video, set to air in the coming week! FR: KELLY WALSH/MITCH SCHNEIDER

THE HU
KICK OFF FIRST-EVER NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH NINE SOLD-OUT SHOWS ALREADY
DEBUT ALBUM THE GEREG OUT WORLDWIDE
TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 13

THE HU triumphantly kicked off their debut three-month headlining tour across North America with the first of nine sold-out shows last night in Minneapolis, thrilling audiences with their one-of-a-kind style of ‘hunnu rock’–a combination of American heavy rock played with traditional Mongolian instruments and guttural throat singing that is featured on their debut album, THE GEREG, out tomorrow, Friday, September 13 via Eleven Seven Music.

The Mongolian-based rock sensation will continue to make their mark as newly appointed Cultural Envoy of Mongolia representatives as they perform at several of the fall’s biggest music festivals-Riot Fest (Chicago), Aftershock Festival (Sacramento) and Las Rageous (Las Vegas)-alongside sold-out dates in major cities including: Montreal, Quebec City, Washington, D.C., Denver, Los Angeles, Columbus, Indianapolis and San Francisco.

THE HU have achieved viral online success with their captivating and cinematic videos for the album’s singles “Wolf Totem,” “Yuve Yuve Yu” and “The Great Chinggis Khaan” which combined have logged over 40 million views to date and were filmed at historic locations in their home country.

Read some early critical praise for THE HU:

“[The HU] are not just taking elements from Western music… Instead, they’re using some of these elements and making their own authentic music. So it’s not rock music performed by Mongolians. It’s Mongolian rock music.”- January 5, 2019

“You know when you find an artist you’re so enraptured and excited about that you want to tell anyone and everyone who’ll listen about them? That’s how I feel right now about The HU.” – June 7, 2019

“Hunnu rock has undoubtedly captured a global audience, spreading their transcultural sound across borders.” – May 27, 2019

“The Hu is the first act since Bad Wolves in February 2018 to top Hard Rock Digital Song Sales with its first charting song.” – April 18, 2019

“The HU wound up with nine cinematic songs that seamlessly meld their influences, often highlighting the areas where the two overlap… Given the global platform they earned via YouTube, The HU have an entire nation rooting for them with The Gereg.” – August 5, 2019

ABOUT THE HU:
Gala: Lead Throat Singer and Morin Khuur
Enkush: Lead Morin Khuur and Throat Singer
Jaya: Jaw Harp, Tsuur, Flute, and Throat Singer
Temka: Tovshuur

THE HU stands for the Mongolian root word for human being, inspiring their original style of music that they call “Hunnu Rock.” The band pull Inspiration from the Hunnu, an ancient Mongolian empire better known as The Huns in western culture. Their music is deeply embedded with their ancient culture, even integrating old Mongolian war cries and poetry into their lyrics. The group was founded in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia by their producer Dashka, along with band members Gala, Jaya, Temka, and Enkush. Together they create rock music with traditional Mongolian instrumentation such as the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp), guttural throat singing built around the pillars of heavy rock: distorted guitars, bombastic drums, and aggressive rhythms. All four members have earned Bachelor’s or higher degrees in classical music and have gained several years of touring experience throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim.

MADISON HOUSE-Independent Booking & Management Agency-Expands With Three New Agents and Fifth Location in Pacific Grove, CA

DT: SEPTEMBER 5, 2019

FM: MITCH SCHNEIDER/KELLY WALSH, SRO PR

MADISON HOUSE
EXPANDS STAFF WITH
SENIOR AGENTS BRIAN SWANSON & BRENT TACTIC;
ADDS JR AGENT CHRIS PALMER

FIFTH LOCATION ADDED IN
PACIFIC GROVE, CA

MADISON HOUSE INC., the Boulder, CO-based booking agency and management company, has expanded their team with three new agents–senior agents Brian Swanson and Brent Tactic, and junior agent Chris Palmer. The entrepreneurial-driven independent company has also added a new office in Pacific Grove, CA (*see details and photos below) on the heels of February’s opening of a nearby Oakland office and an expanded Nashville location.

“The landscape has changed enormously,” says Madison House Co-Founder Nadia Prescher. “Anyone who has been in the business a few decades has certainly seen a massive shift in the number of independent agencies operating in North America. 23 years later, we still pride ourselves on owning an agency that focuses on our independent spirit -one that continues to benefit our clients.” Prescher adds; “Our longtime clients are key to us, as well as new artists whose careers we are passionately building amid the ever-changing trends in the touring landscape.”

Agent Brian Swanson comes to MADISON HOUSE from Paradigm Agency. Having started his stint in the industry as a talent buyer for Prince’s Glam Slam nightclub, he went on to build a vast career at agencies including Monterey International and Proton Productions, and starting his own shop Hello! Booking which lasted six years. Brian will operate MADISON HOUSE’s new office in Pacific Grove, CA. Among the wide variety of artists he represents, joining acts will include: Smash Mouth, Spin Doctors (including solo dates of Chris Barron and Eric Schenkman), Alan Doyle, The Beths, Bad Bad Hats, Jesse Cook, Trailer Park Boys, Classic Albums Live, GRLwood, Matt Andersen, Lankum and Emily Wolfe.

“The move to Madison House couldn’t feel more natural for me and the artists I bring to the fold,” says Swanson. The energy I’ve witnessed since we started talking has been mind-blowing.  This is about open mindedness and embracing someone’s vision, whether it’s on the artist side or the agent’s side. I have known Nadia (Prescher), Jesse (Aratow) and Adam (Bauer) for longer than I care to admit, so walking through these doors kind of feels like coming home, or finally arriving at the place I need to be. Everyone has embraced my approach, because it is their approach. Sign great artists, make the right decisions, don’t forget about the details. It is a simple mantra and simple mantras work. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead. It’s going to be fantastic!” Swanson‘s email is: brian@madison-house.com.

Exemplifying their progressive standpoint, MADISON HOUSE has added Brent Tactic from Rogue Agency where he has spent the last five years successfully keeping dance floors filled and fulfilled while using that insight to positively shape the careers of the artists that he represents. Brent is currently based in NYC and will eventually work out of the company’s Nashville office. His roster that will join him consists of: Ana Sia, Anoraak, Astronomar, Bad Gyal, Dances With White Girls, Dave Nada, Fat Tony, Fatherdude, Feign, Four Color Zack, Frameworks, Hook, ill-esha, Jantsen, Jon Casey, Kraak & Smaak, Late Night Radio, Lex Luger, Little People, Mark Redito, MikeQ, Moods, Moullinex, Natasha Kmeto, Nedarb, OSHUN, P.O.S, Phutureprimitive, Satin Jackets, SSION, Starkey, Stayloose, The Flashbulb, Tittsworth, vōx and Yuksek. Tactic‘s email is: brent@madison-house.com.

Chris Palmer will be a junior agent supporting Swanson‘s roster and building his own roster in the coming months out of the Ann Arbor, MH office. Palmer comes to MADISON HOUSE from Paradigm where he has spent the past 6 years working alongside Swanson. Palmer has been an instrumental element in expanding that roster with the addition of Bad Bad Hats, The Beths, GRLwood and Girl Friday. Palmer‘s email is: chris@madison-house.com

About HEART:
When Ann and Nancy Wilson formed HEART, the idea of two women leading a rock band was still groundbreaking. From the moment 1976‘s Dreamboat Annie was released, they became stars. With hits like “Magic Man,” “Crazy On You,” “Barracuda,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” and “These Dreams,” the band became one of the biggest hit-makers in the seventies and eighties selling more than 35 million records. In 2012, their memoir Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock & Roll became a New York Times bestseller, and in 2013 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
