“‘Why Are You So Cold’ acts as an open letter to the universe from an outsider’s perspective mourning and questioning the loss of empathy, compassion and humanity that it had once embraced,” the band shares. “With social media consuming our livelihood, society has switched gears to instead celebrate instant gratification, notoriety and self-obsession. The song is a plea for humanity to remember how to feel again.”
Based out of South Florida, THE HAUNT was hailed early on as the ‘Best Unknown Band‘ by Miami New Times and shortly after releasing their debut EP, embarked on their first-ever tour, both of the United States and UK/Europe, as direct support for fashion-rock outfit Palaye Royale. Interviews and performances will be broadcast live from the Acme Radio Live studio with Bernal, and will later be rebroadcasted on both “Acme Radio Live” and Bernal‘s “California Country Show Podcast.“
“The California Country Show” house band will include: Austin Callender, Eli Wulfmeier, Matt Lucich, Emily Zuzik, and more. The Los Angeles-based company BLACK VOLT AMPLIFICATION will provide backline equipment for the event.
“The California Country Shake-Up” is presented the same evening, Friday, September 13 at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM featuring a mix of Los Angeles and Nashville artists in a jam-style presentation and again hosted by Bernal and Mosher. Finally, on Saturday, September 14, Americana artist and member of Shooter Jennings’ band Ted Russell Kamp hosts “The West Coast Turnaround” at The Bowery Vault in East Nashville from 1:00 PM – 3:45 PM featuring Los Angeles and Nashville singer-songwriters hand-picked by Kamp.

ABOUT “CALIFORNIA COUNTRY”
Can you talk about the importance of re-planting the flag of at this year’s Americana festival?
“I have a great love for the California Country sound which to me stretches back to when Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys influenced what would become the Bakersfield sound of Buck Owens and Merle Haggard leading on to Gram Parsons, Dwight Yoakam and now to an entirely new vibrant group of young musicians who play Country music in California. California is at times forgotten in the overall fabric given the historical importance of Nashville and Texas. We have significant Country scenes being represented at The Ranch Party, The Grand Ole Echo, and The Cowboy Palace, to name a few. When I first performed at and attended AMERICANAFEST in 2010, I realized that only scattered representations of the California scene existed within the festival. I wanted to bring together our growing scene here and present more of what we are doing to festival attendees. This year I’m excited to build upon what we started in 2016 with The California Country Social at AMERICANAFEST now re-imagined as The California Country Show in partnership with Dave Bernal of The California Country Radio Show.”
Do you feel there is a gulf between the Americana communities in California and Nashville? Is that why you are doing the California Country Shake Up which is uniting musicians from both Los Angeles and Nashville?
“The gulf between the Americana communities in California and Nashville is narrowing as artists travel frequently between the two, making records in both locations, even remotely, and a good number of our California artists who established themselves here have moved to Nashville. Friendships bridge the divide.”
Do you feel there are misconceptions about “California Country” and, if so, what are they?
“The definition of California Country is incredibly broad in a similar sense that Americana is. It’s not just one thing. It’s traditional Country, Alternative Country, Singer/Songwriter influenced, it’s Rock n’ Roll, it’s Blues, it’s Folk, it’s Soul, it’s Alternative…all infused with the terrain of our sunny state.”

Things are heating up for THE HU as they prepare to make their way to North America this fall for their first-ever tour of the continent in support of their upcoming debut album, THE GEREG, due September 13 via Eleven Seven Music. The Mongolian phenomenon, who adventurously combine traditional Mongolian instrumentation and throat-singing with modern American heavy rock to create their own style of music they call “hunnu rock,” have announced the Friday, August 23 launch of the third single and music video for the epic track “The Great Chingiss Khan.”
Following the viral online success of their previous videos for “Wolf Totem” and “Yuve Yuve Yu” in December 2018—which combined have over 40 million views to date–“The Great Chingiss Khan” marks the first official video release from the band in 2019. Filmed at Burkhan Khalduun, the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan, in February of this year in minus 30 degree weather, the cinematic video shares the story of Chinggis Khaan as he is portrayed in Mongolian culture as an inventor and a founding father of the country rather than the worldly view of him as a warrior and conqueror. THE HU were recently heralded as Cultural Envoy of Mongolia by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia in a special ceremony live streamed on MNB World, which can be seen here. “Representing Mongolian artists, we have become a Cultural Envoy of Mongolia,” commented band member Jaya (jaw harp, Tsuur, Flute & Throat Singer). “It is a great moment for us. We are very happy. We understand that as an envoy, we are responsible for sharing our cultural heritage with the world.”
THE HU already began their work as envoys with their inaugural performance in their Ulaanbaatar hometown in June 2019. The group then traveled to Europe and the UK for a sold-out 15-date summer tour in addition to performances at several major festivals including Download Festival, Rock im Park, Rock Am Ring, Tons of Rock and more.
They will next embark on their inaugural North American tour over the course of three months from September 11 to December 7 which includes stops at Aftershock Festival (Sacramento), Riot Fest (Chicago) and Las Rageous (Las Vegas). ABOUT THE HU:
THE HU stands for the Mongolian root word for human being, inspiring their original style of music that they call “Hunnu Rock.” The band pull Inspiration from the Hunnu, an ancient Mongolian empire better known as The Huns in western culture. Their music is deeply embedded with their ancient culture, even integrating old Mongolian war cries and poetry into their lyrics.
The group was founded in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia by their producer Dashka, along with band members Gala, Jaya, Temka, and Enkush. Together they create rock music with traditional Mongolian instrumentation such as the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp), guttural throat singing built around the pillars of heavy rock: distorted guitars, bombastic drums, and aggressive rhythms. All four members have earned Bachelor’s or higher degrees in classical music and have gained several years of touring experience throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim.

Guitarists Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) have confirmed the star-studded line-up for the second annual “ABOVE GROUND” benefit concert on Monday, September 16 at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.
Navarro and Morrison have announced the initial guests joining them for the night, which include host (actor) Joe Manganiello and musicians
Billy Idol, Perry Farrell and Etty Lau Farrell (Kind Heaven Orchestra), Gavin Rossdale (Bush), Steve Stevens, Juliette Lewis, Steve Vai, Billy Duffy (The Cult), Wayne Kramer (MC5), Mike Garson (the legendary and longtime keyboardist for David Bowie, including his role in the Spiders From Mars line-up), with more to be announced. The performers will tip their hats to two of the greatest albums of all time: David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars and the Stooges’ self-titled debut album (celebrating its 50th anniversary this month), on which the world was introduced to Iggy Pop. As with last year’s successful event, this immersive evening of art and music will celebrate the vinyl album as an art form, and at the same time raise awareness and funds for the treatment of mental health, with the profits being donated to MusiCares®, a charity of the Recording Academy™. Unlike iTunes’ halcyon days where one store carried 80% of the market, streaming has many major & minor players. Fans need a simple way to save or add music to whichever service they prefer.
What inspired SINGLE MUSIC to come up with Boostlinks? Was it something your clients were asking for?
“Looking at trends in the industry, it’s clear that current initiatives center around pre-adds/saves of singles and albums. While d2c digital distribution & bundling remain a core service of Single, our mission is to create tools that benefit artists and their bottom line. We saw a gap in the market around a very common promotional tactic, and thought about ways it could be updated for the streaming-era.”
You are truly making it easier for musicians, who use SINGLE MUSIC, to create and tour by streamlining the process of selling music and merch to their fans. Since you are a musician yourself, can you shed some light on how musicians can benefit from this?
“It’s no secret that the majority of revenue an artist makes comes from touring and merchandise sales. While it’s unfortunate that artists are making less from their art, new technologies are stepping in–like Single & Shopify–to help artists maximize other revenue streams. Country rap pioneer and million-selling artist COLT FORD tomorrow (August 9) releases “Slow Ride” as the latest single from his seventh album WE THE PEOPLE VOLUME 1 (Average Joes Entertainment) due out this fall. The song’s lyric video, featuring footage of FORD on tour, premiered today at Billboard.
On the groove-driven song, FORD raps alongside guest vocals by country artist Mitchell Tenpenny to create a seriously infectious blend.
Notes Billboard: “‘Slow Ride’ features Ford’s unique blend of country storytelling and urban production with his rapid fire lyrics, a thumping bass beat and Tenpenny’s sultry falsetto…With soaring fiddle parts, infectious beats and a seamless blend of Ford and Tenpenny’s distinct singing styles, ‘Slow Ride’ instantly captivates.”

“Slow Ride” follows the first single, the anthemic and driving “We The People,” from FORD‘s upcoming album.
