Following recent U.S. dates which wrapped July 20 in Los Angeles, singer, songwriter and musician RICKIE LEE JONES is planning another run of shows before she heads to Europe for shows in the fall. The latest shows kick off October 7 in Asheville, NC and wrap October 23 in Minnesota. The European tour launches October 27 with a festival appearance at the Bluesfest at O2 Arena in London. RICKIE LEE’s tour dates follow the release of KICKS, her newest collection of songs from the great American songbook, which was released in June.

Check out a live clip of “Nagasaki,” the second single from KICKS. For her version of the song–which was first performed by the Ipana Troubadours in 1928 and was most famously recorded by the Benny Goodman Quartet in 1952–JONES gives the track a traditional jazz offering of tight three-part harmonies.

On KICKS RICKIE LEE JONES spans two decades (50s-70s) of pop, rock and jazz, presenting her unique and sophisticated interpretations of these songs. JONES is that rare musician who has transcended the singer/songwriter mantle by incorporating different radio genres from the get-go and she continues that tradition on the forthcoming album. It is fitting that one of the American treasures of songwriters should be comfortable with this diverse collection of the great songwriters of the 20th century. KICKS was created entirely in New Orleans, using local musicians,mixers and studios. Produced by RICKIE LEE JONES with her bandmate, vibraphonist Mike Dillion, it features 10 songs of a highly infectious nature.

Alt-Americana singer, songwriter and musician MANDA MOSHER has shared the video for her new single “Nobody Gives A Damn About Songs Anymore,” which has been released today (7/26). It’s the Los Angeles native’s spirited take on the John Moreland song that will be featured on her third solo album out this fall on her Blackbird Record Label. Directed by Bob Wayne (http://bobwayne.com/) and shot at multiple locations in the San Fernando Valley, the music video was premiered this past Wednesday (7/24) at The Bluegrass Situation. The uplifting clip, which heartwarmingly underlines the importance of songs, can be seen streaming below.

Describing the storyline, MOSHER says: “When thinking of a video concept for ‘Nobody Gives A Damn About Songs Anymore,’ the imagery that came to mind was knocking on doors with your songs in tow, as that’s often how it feels as a songwriter and musician. You’re looking for the right person and audience that your music speaks to, and a lot of doors close before the right ones open. We wanted it to have some levity, so we called in some friends and had some fun with the door to door aspect, finally finding acceptance from a child. Even within a technological industry that has stripped away artist’s ability to make money from their art, artists continue to create because that’s what we do. It’s for the love of it first: ‘Blessed with a curse.'”

The Lineup By Day with set times for the inaugural EXIT 111 Festival—October 11-13 at the Great Stage Park in Manchester, TN–has now been revealed with Guns N’ Roses (Sunday, 8:10 PM), Def Leppard (Saturday, 11:45 PM) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (Friday, 11:10 PM) each performing headlining slots closing out the festival’s daily musical performances. Slayer, Anthrax, and Killswitch Engage are also among the Friday performers, ZZ Top, Mastodon, Ghost and Cheap Trick fill out Saturday‘s line-up, with Ministry, Coheed and Cambria and Deftones on Sunday’s bill. The inaugural three-day event hosted by Eddie Trunk features a heavyweight line-up that celebrates all forms of rock–from hard to classic, alternative to southern–with more than 40 acts appearing on three stages (full line-up below). Doors open at 3:00 PM on Friday and 12 Noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Beyond the music, the EXIT 111 Festival site–known to millions as the home of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival–will be transformed into a rock and roll playground with camping and a variety of activities tailored specifically to concert-goers. Details are as follows:

Step into another, darker dimension with Paranormal Cirque! Step under the tent for one of two daily shows to experience a world of combined theatre, circus, and cabaret presented by Cirque Italia. Multi-instrumentalist and global sensation TASH SULTANA will return to North America for a fall 2019 tour that includes stops at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Colorado) and the Central Park Summerstage (New York), along with a slot on the Ohana Festival (Los Angeles). This week, “Under Your Scars,”the third single from the band’s WHEN LEGENDS RISE (BMG) album, has ascended to #1 on the Active Rock Chart. This marks the group’s third #1 rock hit from their current album. “Under Your Scars” follows the album’s two previous tracks that were #1 active rock hits: “When Legends Rise” and “Bulletproof,” the latter of which was recently certified Gold in the U.S. and was also the most-played song at rock radio in 2018.

“I’ve realized that ‘Under Your Scars’ has become such an important song to me for so many reasons,” SULLY says. “It’s the first time Godsmack has decided to put this kind of a ballad on an album–which was pretty ballsy for us. BRIAN SETZER‘s legendary career has led him through four critically acclaimed and successful phases from the Stray Cats, to solo albums, the Rockabilly Riot and The Brian Setzer Orchestra. The Brian Setzer Orchestra show seamlessly encompasses music from all these phases. He is a 3-time Grammy Award-winner, and in 2014, SETZER received the distinct honor of being asked by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. to donate a replica of his original 1959 Gretsch 6120 “Stray Cat” guitar, joining an elite collection of iconic treasures at the museum.

“The music I play in the big band is rock n’ roll with a jazz influence,” says SETZER. “What keeps it fresh is the quality of the players in the band. Also, a big part of keeping the big band fresh is the arrangements; writing the arrangement for 19 people is like writing a song within a song. Award-winning singer-songwriter, musician and voice-over actor JASON CHARLES MILLER has unveiled a new music video for his powerful single “Get Thee Behind Me,” which features guest performances by Dug Pinnick (King’s X), ‘Cowboy’ Eddie Long and Duane Betts (son of founding Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts). The track is taken from MILLER‘s recent album IN THE WASTELAND (SONY/RED MUSIC) which combines elements of outlaw country, Americana and Southern rock.

Filmed in the Southern California desert near the Salton Sea and directed by Andrew Fogel (The League of S.T.E.A.M.), the video alludes to the Christian story of the Temptation of Christ and contemplates the struggle of good versus evil. “When writing the lyrics for this album, I was really inspired by the struggle of good versus evil,” shares MILLER. “Whether you’re a Christian or not, most people are at least casually aware of the story of the Temptation of Christ, where Jesus wanders in the desert for 40 days and is tested and tempted by Satan. Taking more of a secular view of a very religious story, I decided to write the lyrics from Satan’s point of view–how he kept getting more and more frustrated with Jesus and finally left. So of course I had to play Satan in the video, at least part of the time! The rest of the time I’m just myself, retracing the steps of what happened.”

MILLER elaborates: “To mix things up a bit, since visually the video looks very apocalyptic, we decided to add the four horsemen of the apocalypse: Conquest, War, Death and Famine, portrayed by four amazing women on motorcycles.”

MILLER embarks August 20 on a headline month-long trek across the U.S. plus a few shows supporting the Allman Betts Band and an appearance at Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee. Next, MILLER will return to California for the annual Wasteland Weekland, where he’s previously performed; the festival is featured in the music video for the album’s title track, “In The Wasteland.” Look for MILLER to also perform at the Whisky-A-Go-Go on October 3. In The Wasteland was mixed and produced by Grammy Award winner Matt Hyde (Jonny Lang, No Doubt, Deftones) and features drummer Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty).The album’s additional musical guests include two members from Lynyrd Skynyrd–guitarist Rickey Medlocke and keyboardist Peter Keys–legendary soul vocalist Brenda Lee Eager (Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Diana Ross), Blackberry Smoke vocalist Charlie Starr, and guitarist Adam Shoenfeld (Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean).

MILLER is also widely recognized as the founder of the rock band Godhead. The Super Deluxe 25th Anniversary Throwing Copper box set edition not only features the album with bonus tracks on 2LP black vinyl, and a 12-page booklet with an in-depth interview with the band chronicling the era of the album, but it also contains 2CDs with a 26-track lineup that includes LIVE‘s previously unreleased, explosive eight-song performance at Woodstock ’94 on a separate disc, mixed by +LIVE+ guitarist Chad Taylor. The 25th anniversary Throwing Copper collection is also available in a deluxe digital version, as well as a standalone 1CD set as well. Initially released on April 26, 1994, Throwing Copper cemented the band’s position as one of the most instrumentally powerful and lyrically impactful bands of the modern alternative-rock era. Throwing Copper, which topped the Billboard 200 Albums chart a year after its initial release, also features a pair of No. 1 Modern Rock singles (“Lightning Crashes,” “Selling The Drama”) and has since been certified 8x multi-platinum by the RIAA, having sold over 8 million copies.
