Grammy-nominated acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, composer and global touring artist TOMMY EMMANUEL has today (March 1) released the video for “White Freight Liner Blues,” his collaboration with Grammy-winning guitarist and singer Molly Tuttle, ahead of the song’s digital release on March 3. The song, a cover of the Townes Van Zandt classic, is the first single from EMMANUEL’s much-anticipated full-length collaborations album ACCOMPLICE TWO (see the track listing below), due out April 28 via CGP Sounds as the follow-up to his Accomplice One album in 2018.

“My accomplices on this album are all in a league of giants to me,” says TOMMY. “They all inspire me to reach for the stars; to give my best while supporting them as they give their best. We all have a chemistry and electricity together when we play music. I wanted to capture this power in songs and performances that will stand the test of time.”

Playing with TOMMY was a dream come true for Tuttle, winner of the Best Bluegrass Grammy for 2022, for the album Crooked Tree made with her band Golden Highway. She says: “I’ve been a big fan of Tommy’s music since I was first learning to play guitar as a kid. I got to see him play a few times growing up and felt so inspired by his virtuosity on the instrument as well as his spirit as an entertainer. It was a dream come true to get to jam with Tommy on stage a few years back when he asked me to sit in with him during his set on Cayamo Cruise. That was the first time we played ‘White Freight Liner Blues’ together and I was thrilled when Tommy called and asked if we could cut it for his new album!”

Produced lovingly by EMMANUEL, regarded by guitar great Chet Atkins as “one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen,” the 16-track ACCOMPLICE TWO is a spirited mix of new takes on indelible classics and brand-new originals from TOMMY. His collaborators are some of the most remarkable musicians on the planet—an “A” list of musicians including Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Michael McDonald, Jamey Johnson and Raul Malo.

The album is alive with the electric spirit of spontaneous, timeless joy created by inspired virtuosos. The combined artistry contained on these tracks is stunning, as is TOMMY’s cheerful ease at connecting naturally with this vast spectrum of musicians. Like the first volume, he merges the presence of beloved, legendary musicians—such as Jorma Kaukonen, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Little Feat, Sam Bush, the Del McCoury Band and Jerry Douglas—with the bright spirit of acclaimed young artists breaking through with deep artistry and true reverence for the power of song.

“I love the word ‘accomplice,” explains TOMMY, “because it’s deeper in meaning than `partner’ or `duet.’ I feel that the artists that are on this project are all so unique and gifted that all we had to do was find the right song, work up the arrangement, then record it live and its magic will appear!”

“This album takes risks and is unpredictable,” says TOMMY. “Hopefully it will delight the people who are ready to receive it in their open hearts, minds and ears. I love the fact that Raul Malo sings `Faraway Places’ so beautifully calm, powerful, yet true to Sam Cooke’s original version. Then Sam Bush and I become Homer & Jethro, on `Yeller Rose of Texas,’ a total spoof on the original.”

The album starts with TOMMY’s duet with Billy Strings, the Michigan-born guitarist who won the 2021 Grammy for Best Bluegrass for his album Home. Like TOMMY, Billy honors his roots while also expanding always as a musician. His energy combined with TOMMY’s is what launches this journey, on a two-song medley that honors his hero, Bluegrass legend Doc Watson. It starts with Doc’s own song “Doc’s Guitar” and segues into the “Black Mountain Rag,” an old fiddle tune that was Doc’s signature song.

TOMMY has often said that Michael McDonald is one of his favorite singers and songwriters. He’s played Michael’s songs through the years and recorded a beautifully tender version of “I Can Let Go Now” on his Heart Songs album with John Knowles. Now he’s got both—a song and the voice—on “Someone Like You,” co-written by Michael with Dennis Morgan. TOMMY, singing through the strings of his guitar, said he’s emulated the soulful warmth of McDonald’s vocals for decades, and is thrilled to have that sound on his album. Michael, like the other accomplices, was greatly moved by his inclusion. “After being a fan for so many years now,” says McDonald, “the chance to work with an artist and musician of Tommy Emmanuel’s capacity and stature is an immense honor.”

On his own song, “Mombasa,” TOMMY duets with Yasmin Williams, a unique solo guitarist who also plays kalimba, and plays both instruments here. “Mombasa,” she says, “is one of her favorite solo guitar songs ever.” They made the track alone, with no other musicians, which was surreal for her, she said, because he made it fun and easy. “Even though Tommy is one of the best guitarists in the world,” she adds, “the recording session wasn’t daunting at all because he made me feel super-relaxed throughout the session, and comfortable adding my own unique touches.”

Look for TOMMY’s concert special “Accomplice LIVE!”—featuring such guests as Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Sienna Hull and Yasmin Williams—to debut this month on PBS during pledge drive. ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL:

TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a CPG (Certified Guitar Player) by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year from Nashville to Sydney to London. He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominations, two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy); repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue; a cover feature for Vintage Guitar’s July 2020 issue; and was Music Radar’s reader’s poll #1 winner of the Ten Best Acoustic Guitarists in The World (December 2019). IAN GOTHE has today, March 1, shared an impassioned new single “Amphitrite,” marking the Los Angeles-based acoustic guitarist, singer, and songwriter’s first new music since his 2021 single “Upside Down” and 2020 debut album Memento. Scheduled for a March 3 digital release via Blackbird Record Label, “Amphitrite” showcases IAN’s eclectic blend of genres including world, classical and folk alongside prog rock and jazz stylings. Based on the tales from Greek mythology of the song’s namesake, Amphitrite, the Goddess of the sea and wife of Poseidon, the single’s haunting music video shows the plight of Amphitrite, who is bound to the sea, being lured to land by IAN’s music and the toll such a journey takes on one’s body, mind and soul.

“‘Amphitrite’ was inspired by a painting I saw at an art exhibition titled ‘Goddess Of The Sea,’” shares IAN, who composed the song. “I’ve seen many images and have heard many stories about Amphitrite before but had never personally connected with anything until seeing that painting. Upon arriving home, a spark for my soul to speak was ignited, I picked up my guitar and the music began to flow. The stirring that started inside haunted me until it was done. When the song was complete, I felt a deep sense of peace. I hope that listeners may embark on a journey of their own upon hearing it and find a similar sense of peace when the music stops.”

IAN elaborates about the meaning behind “Amphitrite” music video: “To me the video evokes the emotion of a sense of yearning desire with urgency with no peace until one takes the journey to the source. The power that music has, like love, can cause one to travel great distances, to the point of getting lost, exhausted, and potentially found. It is a rite of passage to leave a place of safety and venture out to answer that call, exhausting as it may be, and possibly return, with a new knowledge of oneself.”

IAN, an Armenian-American born in Iran who came to Los Angeles as a teenager, spent much of his adolescence traveling across continents in search of a home. His initial musical inspiration came from a recording of the Doors’ “Spanish Caravan” which came full circle when he released a cover of the classic track on his 2020 debut album MEMENTO which caught the attention of The Doors’ guitarist Robby Krieger who said: “I love it! It’s tough to cover Doors songs because the originals are so iconic. But Ian wasn’t afraid to stick to the original format and did a great job of capturing the feel.”

MEMENTO featured performances by all-star musicians Derek Frank (Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani), Tamir Barzilay (Macy Gray, Tal Wilkenfeld), Sam Babayan (The Dirty Diamond) and Fernando Perdomo (Jakob Dylan, Fiona Apple), the latter of which IAN would reunite with to produce his 2021 single “Upside Down.”

IAN will further work with Perdomo on his next planned release, co-producing and recording a tribute album to one of IAN’s favorite bands, the English progressive rock group Camel, due this winter. IAN has also been working on new original material and plans to release his second full-length album shortly thereafter.

“When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” shares Nuno. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record.”

About EXTREME:

Formed in 1985, the Boston group’s quiet grind resulted in the release of the self-titled Extreme in 1989. The rhythmically dynamic and lyrically pointed song, which embodies their ability to create modern blues-rock with plenty of attitude and drama, appears on the Pennsylvania band’s third album BLACK LEATHER BLUES due out April 14 via Mo Mojo Records. “From the moment I wrote it, I felt it would be a signature song for us,” says Dustin Douglas about “Why Would You Say Such A Thing.” “It defines what we do as a band.”

The video was premiered by Rock & Blues Muse, which described the song as “a tough-toned blues/rock track with a big riff, a danceable beat, and a hard-nosed attitude. Dustin Douglas is an excellent guitarist, singer, and focus point for the band, tearing it up on all levels. The Electric Gentlemen behind him are a nimble and aggressive rhythm section that moves and grooves with vintage class and modern authority. The accompanying music video only enhances the band’s lowdown rock and roll vibe. Blast this one first thing in the morning and feel yourself come back to life.”

Featuring 10 songs all written by Douglas, BLACK LEATHER BLUES was underlines their dynamic, heavy, swagger-injected, sexy & dirty, blues-influenced rock n’ roll and captures the band’s vintage sound and vibe to modern ears. It was launched with the first single/video “Broken.”

Fronted by the impressively fluid lead guitarist/singer/songwriter Dustin Douglas, The Electric Gentlemen–rounded out by drummer Tommy Smallcomb and bassist Matt “The Dane” Gabriel–command the stage with virtuosic musicianship and classic-rock spirit mixed with punk rock attitude. All I’m trying to do is continue the tradition of The Stones, Zeppelin and The Faces,” says Dustin Douglas. “Take the traditional blues spirit, mix it with some heavy rock n’ roll and play it for a new generation.

“But it ain’t your poppa’s blues,” he adds. “I listen to Rage Against the Machine as much as I listen to Muddy Waters. That blend of influences is what makes it unique.”

BLACK LEATHER BLUES was recorded at Eight Days a Week Studios in Northumberland, PA by Paul Smith (Badlees) who engineered and co-produced the album with Douglas. It was mixed by Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, Phillip Sayce) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, Buddy Guy, Doyle Bramhall II, Green Day, Liam Gallagher, Elvis Costello.) BETTER NOISE FILMS—the production company behind Netflix’s hit Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt— earlier this week released their critically acclaimed revenge horror-thriller THE RETALIATORS on Digital and Blu-Ray. “When I had first heard the original version, I instantly fell in love, so when Nothing More asked me to be a part of the piano version it was truly a no brainer,” shares ACORN. “The song is so beautiful and touches on a very similar situation that I was going through in a previous relationship of mine, so it was super easy to connect with. I also love how much, at least to me, the song resembles early Evanescence, which is one of my favorite bands of all time. It’s beautiful, it’s powerful, and I hope people love it as much as I do.”

NOTHING MORE’s headlining North American “SPIRITS 2023” spring tour–with special guests Crown The Empire and Thousand Below–was announced last month and met with high demand. It stretches from March 31 – May 28, and an additional show in Sacramento, CA was added on May 2 at Ace of Spades after their May 1 show sold out within days of tickets going on sale. On their new album SPIRITS, NOTHING MORE combine unapologetically massive anthems, catchy hooks, and progressive music with introspective, philosophical lyrics and thought-provoking emotionalism. Its eleven tracks were co-written by all band members–Hawkins [vocals], Mark Vollelunga [guitar], Daniel Oliver [bass], and Ben Anderson [drums]–and their longtime manager and co-producer Will Hoffman. The album documents the tumultuous time the world experienced over the past two years capturing the desperation and isolation of lockdown, the spiral of substance abuse, the pain of broken relationships, and survival in self-reliance. These concepts were further explored with the development of their very own meta-personality test, SPIRITS TEST. The “SPIRITS TEST” results are correlated to unique “SPIRIT TYPES” which the band share more about in their upcoming graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” due out this year via Z2 Comics.

Critically acclaimed Mongolian rock outfit THE HU have spent the past five years dominating audiences across the globe with their self-branded genre of “hunnu rock”—a unique blend of Western modern rock/metal and Mongolian throat singing using traditional Mongolian instruments sung entirely in their native language. Having accumulated over 329 million combined streams and 290 million video views, two Top 5 Mainstream Rock charting singles, multiple sold-out headlining global tours, festival appearances including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Download Festival and rave reviews from Billboard, NPR, GQ, The Guardian, Revolver and even Sir Elton John himself—THE HU have released a three-part mini-docuseries encapsulating their career to date.

The first episode of the docuseries, “Citizens of The World,” is out now via Better Noise Music’s YouTube channel. In the episode, viewers get an introduction to the band’s four founding members–Gala, Jaya, Temka, and Enkush—and to their traditional instrumentats, including the Morin Khuur, Tovshuur and Tumur Khuur, while presenting THE HU’s main message of inspiring listeners to awaken the warrior spirit inside of themselves and to use that courage to spread goodness throughout the world. The episode ends with the announcement of the band being named UNESCO’s “Artist For Peace” recipients for 2022. The final two episodes, airing March 1 and 15 respectively, will cover their journey to UNESCO’s Paris Headquarters where they received the designation in a ceremony held last December and their following concert at the renowned Casino de Paris. The docuseries was directed and co-produced by Michael Lombardi, who also co-directed the music video for their new single, “This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls) Feat. William DuVall of Alice In Chains,” and was the lead actor/co-producer of the 2022 horror-thriller The Retaliators in which members of THE HU appeared and whose soundtrack included music from the band’s discography

THE HU will be performing their first-ever virtual concert in the metaverse on March 30 in partnership with ARD Financial Group (ARD) featuring music from their 2022 album RUMBLE OF THUNDER and debut 2019 album THE GEREG. Arizona-based modern classic rock & roll trio THE BLACK MOODS have partnered with downtown Phoenix’s Walter Station Brewery on their collaborative “Hollywood and Lime,” a light blonde ale with hints of cherry and bright lime flavors. Brewed with select malts and hops for a handcrafted flavor profile and just a hint of tartness, “Hollywood and Lime” is perfect for Arizona’s spring season as the temperature start to warm and the days get longer. The beer was named after THE BLACK MOODS’ single “Hollywood,” featured on their 2022 album INTO THE NIGHT. The trio have today (February 21) revealed the official “Hollywood” music video, directed and filmed by videographer and longtime friend Domonick Giorgianni (Domino Effect Productions) It unflinchingly looks at the dark side beneath the glitz and glamour of the star-studded entertainment capital. The “Hollywood and Lime” ale will be released March 9 as a limited edition offering in 12oz cans available to be purchased as a six-pack and/or case at Walter Station Brewery as well as at select restaurants, bars and bottle shops in the greater Phoenix area. To celebrate the video’s release and kick off the beginning of their spring co-headlining “March Radness” tour (3/24-4/7), THE BLACK MOODS will perform a special show at Walter Station Brewery’s taproom, located in downtown Phoenix in a refurbished 1960’s-era Phoenix Fire Department Station, on Thursday, March 9. Tickets are on sale now for the limited capacity show for $35 which includes admission, one 12oz can of “Hollywood and Lime,” and an exclusively designed “Hollywood and Lime” beer koozie. “Brewing a beer with and for The Black Moods was an idea I’ve had since the guys played at the brewery while it was still under construction back in 2016,” shares Walter Station Brewery co-owner Jim Erickson. “It was an amazing show and an opportunity to introduce my friends, family and brewing community to the band, which everyone loved and still talk about today. Having seen The Black Moods a couple of years earlier at a show in Mexico, I quickly became a fan of the music but also the vibe of the band and how they seemed to be really connected to their own community and uber approachable. It was similar to how I saw, or hoped to see, my brewery would interact with the beer community. After a couple of idea pitches back and forth between myself and the band, and lots of sampling, we settled on developing an easy-drinking beer that they could enjoy while hanging out with friends, rehearsing or before a show. ‘Hollywood and Lime’ got its name while all of us were sitting at the brewery one evening and discussing their new album which included the single ‘Hollywood,’ and the rest is history. Sid Rhea, a friend of the band and a talented artist, contributed the artwork and graphics for the can labels. An excellent label for an excellent beer for an excellent band.”

Walter Station Brewery is a collaborative effort between Jim Erickson and Kirk Strawn, both of Phoenix AZ. Jim Erickson is from a background of Sales and Marketing and an avid homebrewer as well as the original brewer for Walter Station. Kirk Strawn is a former Physician turned entrepreneur and is the face of the burgeoning Walter Productions in the Phoenix Area with several event properties offering music, art and community outreach. Both Jim and Kirk share a passion for Craft Beer and spawned their relationship while both were members of a brewing club located in Scottsdale AZ. To this day, Walter Station enjoys a “special relationship” with the Firefighting Community as you will often see past and current members of the Department in the brewery enjoying a beer in their Old Station 29. Now offering great beers, traditional pub food and live music several nights a week from local bands as well as a welcoming stage for musicians traveling through Arizona.
