Worldwide, ORDINARY MAN has entered the charts in the Top Ten in seven countries making it the highest charting album of OZZY‘s career. It debuted at #3 on the U.K. chart, breaking OZZY‘s previous peak on the charts 40 years ago for Blizzard of Ozz (which peaked at #7). OZZY also demolished his highest chart position in Australia, debuting at #4 and cracking the Top 10 there for the first time in his career. OZZY secured his solo career’s highest marks in Germany as well, coming in at #2. Elsewhere, the album earned Top Ten positions in Sweden at #1, the U.S. #3, Italy #6 and Ireland #6.

To celebrate the album’s arrival, OZZY made history by launching a worldwide tattoo sale and album listening event. Held on the eve of the album’s release (February 20), OZZY premiered his new album simultaneously at tattoo parlors in 57 cities around the world–making it the largest multi-city album release event in rock ‘n’ roll history. Globally more than 3,000 fans received exclusive OZZY-inspired tattoos created specifically for the one-day only event while hearing the album for the first time. Over 1,000 unique tattoo designs were created from some of the top artists around the world, with a total social reach of over 20 million. Here are some of the tattoo designs:

Masterful Norwegian storytellers WARDRUNA–last seen in the U.S. in 2018 with a sold-out headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado–will release their new album KVITRAVN(which translates to ‘White Raven’) on June 5 via BY NORSE MUSIC in the U.S. and SONY MUSIC / COLUMBIA RECORDS (worldwide excl. U.S.). The first new music from the album will be revealed on February 21. In the meantime, pre-order bundles are now available in the U.S. at https://wardruna.aisamerch.com/and across all digital platforms at https://wardruna.lnk.to/Kvitravn_Album.

WARDRUNA have also announced plans for a solo North American tour launching this fall in Charlotte, NC on September 24 and concluding in Dallas, TX on October 20. Tickets for these shows (listed below) will go on-sale at 10:00 A.M. local time on Friday, February 14.

WARDRUNA have carved a rich, polyphonic and dramatic musical landscape that honors the ancient past without gimmick, while simultaneously illuminating meaningful expressions of Norse tradition through intrinsically detailed contemporary composition. Beyond genre, theirs is a sound that must be truly experienced. Their first-ever concert was held in front of the 1,500-year-oldGokstad Viking ship in Oslo, NO and they’re the only band to have ever been allowed to hold an amplified concert at the Viking ship museum. Since then they’ve performed sold-out shows worldwide, including major festival headlining appearances (Hellfest, Roadburn, Summer Breez, Castle Fest, Echoes & Merveilles, Rock oz Arenes, Rock The Coast, etc.). In 2018, they toured the U.S. with a West Coast run which expanded their audience.

KVITRAVN follows an intensive period in the studio and musically continues where their RUNALJOD trilogy left off in 2016 with RUNALJOD – RAGNAROK–which charted at #1 Billboard’s World Music charts in the U.S. and Canada. Yet KVITRAVN marks a distinct evolution in WARDRUNA‘s unique sound. In a rich musical tapestry, WARDRUNA use a broad selection of both traditional and historical instruments such as Kravik-lyre, Trossingen-lyre, Taglharpa, Sootharp, Langeleik, Crwth, Goat- horn, Lur, Bronze-lur, flute, Moraharpa, and the record also features guest appearances by a small group of prominent traditional singers, spearheaded by Kirsten Bråten Berg, one of the most important custodians of Norwegian traditional song. Throughout these 11 songs, KVITRAVNdiscusses Northern sorcery, spirit-animals, shadows, nature and animism, the wisdom and meanings of certain myths, various Norse spiritual concepts, and the relation between sage and songs.

“To recite and copy the past is not very difficult, but to understand and integrate ancient thoughts, tools and methods with real purpose into a creation that is relevant to the modern era is truly challenging and remains our prime goal in our work,” WARDRUNA founder Einar Selvik reveals.

“Although the album carries a variant of my own totemic artist name, it has, in this context, little to do with me but rather refers to the symbolism and legends of sacred white animals found in Nordic and other cultures all over the world. These highly regarded ghostly creatures, whether a raven, snake, bear, moose, reindeer, elephant or lion,–are in animist traditions seen as prophetic, divine messengers, and guardians representing renewal, purity and a bridge between worlds.”

Since their formation in the early 2000’s initiated by composer Einar Selvik, WARDRUNA have had vast worldwide success, transcending music genres, cultures and languages while being renowned for their innovative and genre-creating renditions of ancient Nordic traditions.

The group’s massive musical contributions to History Channel‘s TV seriesVIKINGS-which consists of over 60 placements and substantial work on the show’s musical score in addition to appearances by EINAR, who starred and performed on two occasions in Season 3 and 4–
has exposed their music to a broad audience worldwide.

WARDRUNA merge academics with pop culture, and their thorough and serious approach has made them one of today’s foremost communicators of Norse culture. Today’s top international scholars on Old Norse studies use EINAR‘s work to exemplify how music might have been executed in earlier times in Scandinavia and he has lectured about his work with historical music in prestigious universities such as Oxford, University ofDenver, Reykjavik University and University of Bergen. Alongside fellow Norwegian metal band Enslaved, WARDRUNA was commissioned by the Norwegian government to write and perform a music-piece for the 200-year anniversary of the Norwegian constitution in 2014.

SUNNY OZELL’S “Overnight Lows” Due Out February 28; Single Premiered At ‘American Songwriter’

DATE:       FEBRUARY 24, 2020

FROM:      MARCEE RONDAN

SUNNY OZELL’S
‘OVERNIGHT LOWS’
DUE OUT FEBRUARY 28

VIDEO FOR “ALL THAT I AM” PREMIERED

SONG IS LATEST TRACK FROM TRANSATLANTIC AMERICANA
SINGER-SONGWRITER’S SECOND ALBUM

SHOWS SET IN NEW YORK FEBRUARY 28
AND LOS ANGELES TUESDAY, MARCH 10
TO CELEBRATE ALBUM’S RELEASE

With her second album due out this Friday (February 28), singer-songwriter SUNNY OZELL last week premiered the “All That I Am” video at AMERICAN SONGWRITER. The song is the new track from OVERNIGHT LOWS, an album that gleams with engaging melodies and intelligent wordplays, performed with a sophisticated fluency in pop, jazz, soul and Americana dialects.

To celebrate the album’s release, SUNNY has confirmed shows in New York and Los Angeles. First up is a NYC show the day (Saturday, February 29) after the album’s release at Rockwood Music Hall. A few weeks later, she’ll play a Tuesday, March 10 show at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood.

Describing the album title, OZELL says, “OVERNIGHT LOWS came to me more or less before I’d composed a single complete lyric, and I knew it was perfect. It encapsulated so many possibilities of what I’d hoped to say, and it steered the writing process that followed. The title was a kind of lighthouse, guiding the way.”

In her words, OVERNIGHT LOWS reflects the soul and simplicity of her passion for such inspirations as Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne, Cassandra Wilson, and Aretha Franklin. Players on the album include Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant, Aimee Mann, Alison Krauss), Tyler Chester (George Ezra, Maddison Cunningham), Andy Hess (The Black Crowes, David Byrne), Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Roseanne Cash), and Rich Hinman (Sara Bareilles). The album was recorded at Village Studios in Los Angeles, and engineered by Mike Piersante.

OVERNIGHT LOWS displays SUNNY‘s love of language and her intimate, soulful delivery, from the cruising feel of “Driving Highways” at one end–with its clever incorporation of a key line from Dobie Gray’s 1970s soulful singalong “Drift Away”–to the bluesy, smoochy “Take You Down” at the other. “Almost like self-analysis,” she adds, “I went back through it and thought ‘Holy shit, there’s a lot about night in here, and not sleeping, and wrestling with memories.”

As personal as these songs are, OZELL is perfectly happy for them to assume their own individual meaning to the listener. “I was really ready to be reflective, but I don’t necessarily need to have my agenda known,” she says. “I know from every song that’s ever moved me that when you love something at first glance, but it continues to yield up deeper levels of meaning as time goes on, that’s really art.”

OVERNIGHT LOWS is fueled by a lifetime relationship with music that started when SUNNY began violin lessons at the age of four and singing lessons at 11 years old. Stints in opera companies in her teens led to nights in a blues band in college, followed by jazz clubs in New York City. It was her time there, in New York, that honed and refined her unique voice and vision.

The OVERNIGHT LOWS tracklisting is as follows:

Driving Highways
Comes And It Goes
All That I Am
In The Sun
Not Afraid
Saint Ursula
The Garden
Hammer And Nail
Downstream
Take You Down

“Caught a show late last night/Saw rock n roll was still alive”
GILBY CLARKE,Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder

GILBY CLARKE is rocking into 2020 with the fiery new single “Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder,” marking his first new solo music in 17 years. The rebellious and anthemic track, written by the acclaimed guitarist (ex-Guns N’ Roses), singer and songwriter, “kicks off with raw, rumbling bass and the kind of guitars the Stones might have played if they’d grown up on 80s metal instead of the blues,” according to the UK‘s Classic Rock magazine (2/10/2020). Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder” will be featured on his new album THE GOSPEL TRUTH due out later this year via GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS. Listen to an audio stream of “Rock N Roll Is Getting Louder” at http://smarturl.it/GC-Getting-Louder. Read a Q&A with GILBY below and stay tuned in the coming weeks for the music video premiere.

THE GOSPEL TRUTH was produced and written by GILBY at his Los Angeles recording studio, Redrum Recording, where he’s also produced records for artists including L.A. Guns, The Bronx, Beat Angels, Bullets and Octane and many more. The album was mixed by Grammy-award winner Chris Lord-Alge and mastered by Maor Appelbaum and includes Muddy Stardust on bass, Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, John Fogerty, Chickenfoot) on drums along with Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr. Big) and Chad Stewart (Faster Pussycat, L.A. Guns) on backing vocals.

CLARKE was recently seen performing live at the annual NAMM conference in Anaheim, CA for VOX Amplification, followed by an appearance alongside Steve Lukather, Vinny Appice and Marc Bonilla, and many others for the Independent Music Professionals United and Ultimate Jam Night sponsored awareness event “Change AB5” at the Whisky-A-Go-Go in West Hollywood, CA.

Q&A WITH GILBY CLARKE

What inspired the sentiment of this song?
GILBY: “The song is about having a rebellious spirit. Rock N Roll means many things. Rebelling…freedom…and being who you are on your own terms…not following whatever’s now in vogue. Therefore, ‘Rock n Roll Is Getting Louder’ means ‘I am what I am, I won’t change that, and I stand up for things that are important to me, even if it’s not popular.
It’s been awhile since you’ve released new music. Can you talk about the excitement of getting your new music out to the public?
“Beyond excited…I need the new songs as an infusion. Letting that creative outlet thrive is something most artists need.”
In which ways do you feel this new music may be different to your previous music?
“I don’t think it’s very different at all. I’m not trying to re-invent the wheel. I have found the music that I like as an artist and a musician. It’s important that I get better at it and try new things, but I like Rock N Roll, and loud guitars are good for the soul.”
Can fans expect shows coming up either in America and/or overseas?
“Yes, as soon as we get a couple of singles out, we will start booking shows.”

What do you feel is the perfect recipe for creating a powerful rock song?
“I always start with a good guitar riff, then add the devil’s drumbeat. It’s good when you can put some interesting lyrics to it, too. I always try to find a new way of saying something simple. I don’t like to complicate my lyrics, but I never duplicate them either.”

AMERICA’s Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell Share New Q&A and 50th Anniversary Tour Dates

DATE:            FEBRUARY, 20 2019

FROM:           MITCH SCHNEIDER/ANDREA FAULK

AMERICA:
Q&A WITH GERRY BECKLEY AND DEWEY BUNNELL

BAND CONTINUE THEIR
IN-PROGRESS
50TH ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR

AMERICA at the London Palladium; Photo credit: Christie Goodwin

On their in-progress 50th anniversary world tour (see the dates below), the iconic multi-platinum-selling group AMERICA are delivering their distinctive brand of harmony-rich rock, mixed with pop smarts, in soul-searching classic songs that movingly reflect the times in which they were written. The band’s co-founders GERRY BECKLEY and DEWEY BUNNELL are committed to keeping their songs and music fresh onstage every night as they perform all over the world. In the Q&A below, they talk about their special chemistry; pick their favorite scenes in TV shows where their songs have been featured; and recall crazy “Spinal Tap” moments in their career.

From left: Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell

10 QUESTIONS
WITH GERRY BECKLEY AND DEWEY BUNNELL
OF AMERICA:

Congratulations on your 50th anniversary tour. Looking back, what has surprised you most in your career?

GERRY BECKLEY: “As great as any of the singular successes have been over the years, I’d have to say the longevity itself is something we’d never have considered and probably the greatest surprise.”

DEWEY BUNNELL: “The initial success was a surprise, with the first album and single both going to #1, but I don’t think we ever thought that 50 years later we’d still be performing close to 100 shows a year!”

Every band seems to have a “Spinal Tap” moment. What about AMERICA?

DEWEY:We’ve had several over the decades, but I’ll never forget when we were taping a Bob Hope Special on the UCLA campus with Bob, John Wayne and Aretha Franklin in front of a large crowd of students who assumed we were performing live, when in fact we were lip-syncing ‘Sister Golden Hair.’ As the taping was in progress, there was a technical problem, so they stopped the tape to restart the shoot. The students were shocked and voiced their displeasure at this reality! We made it clear we’d return for a full LIVE CONCERT soon…which we did!”

GERRY: “I’d say there’s been many ‘Spinal Tap’ moments over the years but a particular Hollywood Bowl Symphony performance comes to mind. It was a symphony show with George Martin conducting, and the finalé involved quite a large amount of pyrotechnics.Unfortunately, some of the sparks fell down over the orchestra and the dress of the lady playing the harp caught on fire. She went running offstage in the middle of the encore and fortunately was OK although obviously quite shaken.”

Many of AMERICA’s classic songs reflected the times in which they were created, such as the questing “Horse With No Name” (with its environmental message at the end); the frank romantic politics of “Sister Golden Hair”; and the war paranoia of “Sandman” (written in part from conversations with returning airmen from Vietnam). What was it like to be artists experiencing all of this and capturing it in your songs?

GERRY: “We’ve been fortunate over the years to have numerous hits that became reflections of their time.”

DEWEY: “We’re all influenced by the times we live in and the changes we go through growing up. It’s a special thing to be able to reflect those events in a song in some way or another.”

AMERICA’s recordings have been licensed for a multitude of placements in films (including American Hustle, The Nice Guys, The Last Unicorn and Girl Most Likely), television shows (among them The Sopranos, Friends, Breaking Bad and Saturday Night Live) and video games (including Grand Theft Auto). Why do you think AMERICA’s songs lend themselves so well to scenes in films and TV shows…and is there a favorite scene you have where your song is used?

DEWEY: “I loved hearing ‘Horse With No Name’ being used in an episode of ‘Breaking Bad’ as Walter White was literally driving through the desert! Many times our songs seem to be simply used to establish the era of the 70’s, but the directors must have their reasons.”
GERRY: “My personal favorite is an episode of ‘The Sopranos’ where one of the characters was taken out (shot) while driving and as the car came crashing to a stop, ‘Sister Golden Hair’ was playing on the car radio. Excellent.”
You guys have a special chemistry with different vocal styles and different lyrical points of view. Can you talk about why the combination works and what the “secret” might be in your “sauce”?

GERRY: “We’ve often said that Dewey writes the outdoor songs and I write the indoor songs. It makes for a nice combo.”

DEWEY: “It’s hard to define exactly what we each bring to the table, but I think Gerry and I have always written from the heart and complement each other’s ‘strengths and weaknesses’ in the process of writing, recording and performing.”

If you were to record a duet with a current artist outside the genre of music you’re known for, who might that be, and which song would you cover and why?

DEWEY:I’ve always been a ‘one band’ guy. I truly don’t aspire to collaborating with artists outside America, which is my comfort zone, although I admire may other artists from the past and present.”

GERRY: “I’ve been friends with Brandon Flowers of The Killers for a while now and I was recently just listening to their hit ‘Human.’ That’s a song I’d love to cover.”

Which famous American historical event would you like to have witnessed and why?
GERRY: “I’m not great with crowds but I would have loved to witness the inauguration of President Obama. A shining moment in our country’s history.”
DEWEY:I can only imagine what went through the minds of the people at the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. To be there with the likes of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams at the beginning of the creation of our democracy must have been incredible.”

What do you look forward to most when you return home from touring, and where is home?

DEWEY:Of course, there is ‘no place like home’ wherever that may be. Reuniting with my wife and pets, even after short trips, is always a comfort. Whether it’s in L.A. or northern Wisconsin, where we split our time, it’s always great to come home.”

GERRY: “Well, the best part IS the coming home. My wife and I have two lovely homes, one in Sydney, Australia and the other in Venice, CA.”

If you overheard one fan talking to another after leaving a show of yours, what would you like to hear them say about the gig?

GERRY: “‘Those guys are still pretty good.'”
DEWEY:We hear comments like, ‘I didn’t realize they performed all those songs!’ or ‘I didn’t realize they did that song?’ a lot. It is nice to surprise our audience with our efforts over 50 years, so the best comment is when they say, ‘They’re better than I thought!’

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time and why does it capture your imagination?

DEWEY:I’d have to say ‘Pet Sounds.’ I was at first baffled by what I was hearing the first time I heard it as a big Beach Boys fan. But after repeated listens I was, and still am, amazed by the beautiful songwriting and incredible production of Brian Wilson. It truly is a masterpiece in every way.”

GERRY: “‘Pet Sounds’… a true masterpiece.”

OZZY OSBOURNE Cancels 2020 “No More Tours 2”

DATE: FEB 17, 2020

FROM: MARCEE RONDAN/MITCH SCHNEIDER

OZZY OSBOURNE
CANCELS 2020
NORTH AMERICAN
“NO MORE TOURS 2” DATES
TO HEAD OVERSEAS
FOR ADDITIONAL MEDICAL TREATMENTS

OZZY OSBOURNE‘s 2020 North American “NO MORE TOURS 2” has unfortunately been cancelled to allow OSBOURNE to continue to recover from various health issues he has faced over the past year. This decision was made to accommodate fans who’ve been holding tickets for rescheduled shows and have been asked to change plans, some multiple times. Following promotional obligations for his new ORDINARY MAN album (out February 21), OSBOURNE will head to Europe for additional treatments.

“I’m so thankful that everyone has been patient because I’ve had a shit year,” OSBOURNE said. “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get to Switzerland for treatment until April and the treatment takes six-eight weeks.

“I don’t want to start a tour and then cancel shows at the last minute, as it’s just not fair to the fans. I’d rather they get a refund now and when I do the North American tour down the road, everyone who bought a ticket for these shows will be the first ones in line to purchase tickets at that time.”

Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. All refunds, including fees, will be returned directly to the credit card used. Additionally, ticketholders who purchased “No More Tours 2” tickets will have first access to tickets when the next tour is announced.
