ROSS VALORY’s refreshed and remastered version of his debut solo album ALL OF THE ABOVE (OID Music) is set for digital release this Friday (August 21). The acclaimed original Journey bassist and songwriter has also teamed with EXPERIENCE VINYL for a limited number of Purple Swirl Color Vinyl (with autographed photo) albums also out August 21. Physical copies of the album—available for the first time on vinyl and CD—will follow with a September 11 on-sale. All versions of ALL OF THE ABOVE—originally released digitally in 2024—include a new VALORY instrumental track and video for “City Lights.” Watch the “City Lights” video, directed by Michael Cotten HERE.

For “City Lights,” VALORY (who played standup bass on the song) teamed with a talented group of master players: Eric Levy (Night Ranger, Garage Mahal); Steve Smith (Journey and Vital Information); Bobby Strickland (Todd Rundgren); Stevie “Keys” Roseman (longtime Valory collaborator); and Mic Gillette (Tower of Power Horns), who did all the horn arrangements and played trumpet and trombone, including a trombone solo. Together, they “bring a new level of sophistication” to the track [a standout from ROSS’ vast repertoire],” he says. The visually arresting clip for the song is set against the backdrop of New York City—throughout different time periods—capturing the hauntingly seductive instrumental track.

ALL OF THE ABOVE was produced by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee VALORY and co-produced by Eric Levy and Jacob Stowe. The ten tracks on the album represent the full maturity of VALORY’s musical gifts, cutting a broad swath through the instrumental territory the music travels. He plays keyboards, guitar, and, of course, many basses in a display of cultivated virtuosity across a palette far broader than could be found in his work with Journey. He is stepping out from behind his bass and, for the first time in his more than half-century as a professional musician, representing his vision and his compositions.

The “City Lights” clip marks another collaboration with Cotten who created videos for all the album’s tracks (“Touched, Pt. ll,” “Tomland,” “Wild Kingdom, “Windmill,” “Nightflower,” and ROSS’ interpretation of War’s classic cruising anthem “Low Rider,” “Incident at Neshabur/Senor Blue,” “No One Wins a War.”

CRASHING WAYWARD paint a bleak and desperate picture of modern life on their latest single “Brass Coffin.” With barbed-wire guitars, pushed-to-the-brink vocals, and gripping lyrics like “I’m feeling I’m nothing/Life’s living in a brass coffin,” the modern rock band deliver a powerful state-of-the-world message. Released today (August 21), the song is the closing track on the Las Vegas band’s upcoming six-song EP THE FIGHT WITHIN, out September 18 on Golden Robot Records. “I wanted to capture a sense of a ‘Dystopian Iron Curtain’ while trying to write objectively for the listener as everyone has a different story to tell,” says lead singer Peter Summit, who penned the song with the band’s lead guitarist David Harris. “I really wanted to portray the urgency and deprivation so many feel right now. Especially with today’s large divide between political and class structures, social and racial unrest, unfortunately there is still a lot to say and a lot of progress to be made.”

With its adventurous tapestry of guitar sounds, Harris says that “Brass Coffin” possesses “a lot of the things I naturally gravitate toward as a player: alternate tunings, slide guitar, and interesting rhythmic ideas. I like finding ways to make the guitar feel unpredictable without losing the song underneath it. That combination of aggression, groove, and experimentation is really what drives the track.”

THE FIGHT WITHIN is an electrifying and introspective release that showcases CRASHING WAYWARD—Peter Summit (lead vocals), David Harris (lead guitar), Carl Raether (bass), Tucker Jones (guitar), and Jon Gunder (drums)—at their most confident and compelling. It will also include the band’s previous singles “Holding For Dear Life” “Bullet For A Heart” and “Going Blind.”

“Holding For Dear Life” was hailed by the UK’s Classic Rock magazine as a “tight, groovy beefcake of a song” that “manages to be fiery, introspective and energizing at once–the sort of brooding intensity you can dance to” (March 16, 2026). Q&A About “Brass Coffin”

Can you tell us about what inspired the song and its beginnings?

PETER SUMMIT: I caught the song’s title from a story I was listening to where the story’s protagonist was raised in a metaphorical “Brass Coffin.” I knew I had to write something based off that title alone. When Dave and I wrote the song together on tour, the words just poured out.

DAVID HARRIS: The song actually came together while we were stuck in an Airbnb on tour with four days between shows. We all had our own rooms, so Pete and I took advantage of the downtime and just started writing. With no real pressure or agenda, we were simply creating. We ended up writing two songs that are on our upcoming EP, “Still You’re Perfect” and “Brass Coffin,” and we also worked out the music for another song, “Bandages,” which may find its way onto the next EP. It was one of those rare stretches of time on tour where you can shut out the noise and really focus on the music.

What kind of hope might you have for the future?

SUMMIT:

Hope we can start having healthy and productive conversations without it leading to volatility. We have toured America consistently coast to coast the last couple of years and because of the reach that the internet and social media have, the world has really opened up. In the past when I traveled in deep remote parts of the country, I would have done my best to blend in and not draw attention to myself. Today, in those same places I feel more accepted being myself than ever before. I can only speak for myself, but because of that, I have hope that people are starting to come around and accept people a lot more for who they are rather than how they look. Economically and politically, we have a long way to go I fear, especially with AI and the possible catastrophe it will have in the tremendous loss of jobs. What I do know though, is the best thing we can do is to not lose hope.

As the vocalist, can you let us know what you wanted to bring to your performance on this song? And how you revved yourself up for it?

SUMMIT: It was very important to me that there was an urgency in my voice and the raw emotion was there. Shawn [McGhee] our producer and I made sure we were selling the story and intentionally did not overproduce that. In the studio we kind of just let the tape run and see what comes naturally. Although we kept a lot of what I had come up with in the demo, we started playing with harmonies which led us to that vocal swell starting in the second chorus. This allowed for the huge harmonies that happen in the song which I really think lifts it to another level. We decided to start the song with the hook of the chorus on a whim when I sent David a video of us working on the track. He loved what we came up with and suggested we started with it, which is something we have never done before.

What makes the song different from other tracks on the EP?

HARRIS: It was also a really rewarding part of the process for me because I produced the music track before sending it off to Shawn [McGee]. From there, Shawn worked with Pete on the vocals and brought his own production instincts to the track, before mixing it. So I got to be involved from the initial idea and arrangement all the way through to the finished recording, which made the song especially meaningful to me.”

Why did the band choose to end the EP with “Brass Coffin”?

SUMMIT: When listening back to the six songs and coming up with a sequence, I always try and put it together like pieces to a puzzle. Although this EP is not conceptual, it is biographical. It has to feel a certain way sonically and lyrically to paint a story. I felt that Brass Coffin was not the nail in the coffin (pun intended), but left it open for our follow-up EP. It felt like a good place to leave our audience on a cliff hanger waiting for the next pieces of the puzzle.

About THE STRAY CATS:

THE STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early ’80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly’s original heyday. BILLY MORRISON is marking today’s release of his new album HOLLOW, via TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group, by sharing a video for one of the album’s highlights: “Take Me As I Am.” The soul-baring and thunderous track is rooted in heavy, angst-fueled ‘90s rock and holds nothing back with such lyrics as “Left unchecked I’m an animal, everything is flammable/I don’t wanna be this way.” Listen to the track HERE, watch the video HERE, and hear the album HERE. The “Take Me As I Am” video was directed by photographer Jane Stuart, who’s been pivotal to the Morrison visual aesthetic over the course of two albums, and filmed throughout Los Angeles where MORRISON lives. The striking video powerfully underlines the personal chaos and desperation that he’s singing about. His longtime friend—musician Franky Perez, seen performing with two showgirl dancers—makes a cameo.

Two years ago, BILLY MORRISON released THE MORRISON PROJECT via TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group. It marked his third solo album (and first since 2015) and produced the #1 Active Rock Song (Mediabase) in America: “Crack Cocaine” featuring Ozzy Osbourne and Steve Stevens and co-written by all three artists. A deluxe edition of the album followed in 2025 and bonus track, “Gods Of Rock and Roll (Orchestral)”—another seismic collaboration with Osbourne and Stevens—landed in the Active Rock Top Ten (Mediabase).

HOLLOW is following the success of THE MORRISON PROJECT format with 12 songs, half sung by Morrison and half sung by a handful of MORRISON’s friends. Guests include Dexter Holland, Marilyn Manson, Chuck D, B Real, Duff McKagan, Steve Stevens, DMC, and the above-mentioned Sully Erna and Nuno Bettencourt, among others. “Forgive Me,” “The Tailor,” “No Suspects,” “Another Day,” “Leave No Trace,” and “Becoming” are among the song titles.

Q&A WITH BILLY MORRISON
ABOUT THE “TAKE ME AS I AM” SINGLE AND VIDEO

— “Take Me As I Am” rocks hard with perhaps some of your most vulnerable lyrics. Can you elaborate on the sentiment of the song and what inspired you to write it?

Morrison: Life is a hell of a journey and we are all fallible beings, but we all have the capacity for change. “Take Me As I Am” examines both the concept of change and growth as a human being, and the idea of arriving at a place of acceptance for one another. I believe that as long as we are aware of our faults, and we strive to be a better person tomorrow, then acceptance is one of the most healing attributes we can offer the world. And not understanding the power of judgement can be extremely damaging to others. Having been judged for one thing or another my whole life, finding those people that literally “take me as I am,” that accept me for who I am, and allow mistakes to be part of a learning process, is a wonderful feeling.

—You play all the instruments on the tracks except drums, making an already very personal song even more of an individual expression. Can you walk us through your mindset for the recording of the song?

Morrison: Imagine if STP had a torrid affair with Oasis, while hanging out at a party thrown by The Cult and watching an Alice In Chains documentary. I don’t really think too hard about the mindset when writing and recording a song, and especially with “Take Me As I Am” it was more a feeling, a vibe. And having the luxury and the ability to play all the instruments just makes it quicker to be honest. I don’t have to sit and argue if it should be E minor or C sharp, hahaha! I just do what I feel, what I hear in my head. Even with the drums, I don’t play the finished thing, I leave that to the professionals…in this case, it’s Erik Eldenius on the kit…but Erik would be the first to tell you that I program exactly what I want to hear from the drums, down to the individual hits, velocities, etc. Drum programming is something I really enjoy, so I spend many hours dialing in the drums and then ask the drummers to play exactly what I wrote!

— Who directed the video and please let us know what we can look forward to?

Morrison: I have had a photographer, Jane Stuart, working with me throughout both album cycles (the previous album, The Morrison Project, and the new album, Hollow) and her aesthetic and ability to portray me in a way that others fail to capture drew me in. When it came time for the video for “Take Me As I Am,” I asked her if she would consider making her directorial debut for me and she said yes! I literally just said “I have a yellow Lamborghini I want to use, and I’d like to have a black eye in this video,’ and left her to make sense of that within the track. And what a video she came up with, from creative concept to technical execution—she knew what she wanted. The color palate is very specific and the story captures the essence of the lyrics perfectly: a fallible man, learning from mistakes, and trying to make sense of his own shortcomings. The team she put together was fantastic and Jane knocked this one out of the park.

Billy Morrison is a British guitarist, singer, and songwriter, widely known as Billy Idol’s rhythm guitar player for the past 17 years alongside lead guitarist Steve Stevens. He is also a solo recording artist in his right having released three albums including the successful and acclaimed The Morrison Project in 2024 via TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group. His fourth solo album, Hollow, will arrive in August 2026, also on TLG | ZOID distributed by Virgin Music Group. Morrison is also a former member of The Cult and Circus Diablo and currently also performs with the superstar cover band known as The Royal Machines. In addition, Morrison is a contemporary fine artist whose Warhol-inspired work has been shown at top galleries. ANTHRAX have today (August 7) released the latest single and video, “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” from their long-awaited 12^th full-length studio album CURSUM PERFICIO out September 18 via Megaforce Records.

The new video was mostly filmed on July 7 in Lisbon, Portugal when the multi-GRAMMY® Award-nominated New York hard rock titans—Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar)—toured with Iron Maiden in Europe. It features live performance footage and behind the scenes backstage fun with cutaways to classic B&W boxing footage that underline the song’s central lyrics: “Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face…” Watch the video and listen to the incendiary song, with its massive riffs and ferocious vocals, HERE.

“‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio,” Benante says. “The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song. ‘Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!”

“Most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Lu on July 7, 2026,” Ian notes. “We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!”

Bello adds, “This video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour.”

ANTHRAX have previously released two singles and videos from CURSUM PERFICIO: “It’s For The Kids” a classic ANTHRAX ripper locked and loaded with buzzsaw-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and a howling and head-banging hook. Meanwhile, the group recently announced they were rolling out uniquely animated short clips based on the album cover, with the first clip shared July 28. The worked with artist Mark Stritzel for the striking cover and the animation was done by Emmanuel Cappellini. The band dove into recording CURSUM PERFICIO in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and ANTHRAX, the result is an album that’s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare.

Originally from Kansas City and now based in Las Vegas, HEATHER ANNE LOMAX has spent the past decade building her own path across Americana, Country-Rock, Blues, and Rock & Roll. She has earned international radio play and shared stages with artists including Wynonna Judd & The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, The Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, and Blood, Sweat & Tears.

At the heart of Lomax’s music is honesty and connection. She describes her songs as “a vehicle of catharsis”—a way for people to feel, heal, and connect through music. Her own life story has also shaped her artistry. Adopted at birth, Lomax spent years searching for her biological family and discovered a history filled with music and creativity. Her family connections include legendary music historian Alan Lomax, while her mother was a musician and visual artist and her grandmother performed on Broadway. After discovering her roots, she reclaimed her birth name— Heather Anne Lomax–-embracing the identity and musical heritage that had always been part of her.

Her musical journey began in Kansas City and the Ozarks of Missouri, where she developed her guitar playing and love of songwriting while being surrounded by gospel, country, and roots music traditions. Artists including Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Presley, Hozier, and Maria McKee continue to inspire her mix of classic sounds and modern storytelling.

Her 2020 album All This Time received praise from Glide Magazine, American Songwriter, The Bluegrass Situation, and Music Connection. Her previous album Heavy Load, released under her adopted name Michael-Ann, was named one of the Top 10 Americana records from Los Angeles and earned Robert Oermann’s “DisCovery of the Week” award in Music Row Magazine.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE “captures raw emotion, vintage energy, and a deeply personal journey,” as described by Blues Magazine (2026). It was recorded live at Love Street Studios in Los Angeles. The album captures the raw energy and spontaneity of classic 1970s recordings. Rather than chasing perfection, the sessions prioritized feel, chemistry, and performance, resulting in a record that crackles with authenticity and heart. It was produced by Zachary Ross (Rose’s Pawn Shop), mixed by Jason Hiller (The Freewheelers), mastered by acclaimed engineer Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, YES, Halford, Def Leppard), and features an extraordinary cast of musicians. Among the contributors are bassist and mixer Jason Hiller; drummers Rob Humphries (Kacey Musgraves, Leonard Cohen, Jason Mraz), Jordan West (Grace Potter), David Goodstein (Jackson Browne, Dolly Parton), and Jamie Douglas (Shooter Jennings, Samantha Fish); keyboardists Ty Bailie (Katy Perry, Tanya Tucker), Jerry Borge (Ziggy Marley), and Carey Frank (Bruce Springsteen, Tedeschi Trucks Band); along with guitarist Zachary Ross and Lomax herself. Additional textures come from flutists Fuzzbee Morse (Bono, Peter Gabriel), Lily Elise (Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus), and Mary Scholz.
