BNM & BNM Artist Inclusions on Mediabase Year-End Rankings

BNM Billboard Year-End Rankings

Leading independent music label BETTER NOISE MUSIC today announce they’ve once again received the #1 Active Rock Label title for having the most-played songs on Mediabase’s Active Rock radio charts for 2024. The year-end report also included several BNM artists including NOTHING MORE being named the #7 Most Played Artist and their #1 hit single “IF IT DOESN’T HURT” landing at #5 on the Active Rock “Most Played Songs” list. The list also included FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH at #14 with “This Is The Way (feat. DMX),” FROM ASHES TO NEW at #15 with “Barely Breathing (feat. Chrissy Costanza),” BAD WOLVES at #22 with “Legends Never Die,” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT at #36 with “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas),” and ASKING ALEXANDRIA at #45 with “Dark Void.”

BETTER NOISE MUSIC has also regained their title as Billboard’s #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Label and #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint of 2024. The label previously made history by ranking as the #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint for five years in a row from 2018-2022. Nothing More topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay Songs Chart at #1 for “IF IT DOESN’T HURT” and also landed at #8 on Mainstream Rock Airplay Artists. FROM ASHES TO NEW scored the #10 spot on Mainstream Rock Airplay Artists and their single “Barely Breathing (feat. Chrissy Costanza)” made the #8 spot on the Mainstream Rock Airplay Songs Chart followed by FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH at #10 with “This is The Way (feat. DMX).”

As 2024 comes to a close, premiere independent music label BETTER NOISE MUSIC reflects on a monumental year advancing the label’s reputation as trailblazers in the rock, metal, and alternative music scene and their commitment to artist development.

BNM CEO Dan Waite reflected on the success: “2024 was another banner year for BETTER NOISE MUSIC, with our artists collectively achieving four #1 singles on Billboard and Mediabase’s Mainstream Rock charts. This remarkable milestone solidifies our position as the #1 Active Rock Label at Radio. Credit goes to the synergy of outstanding A&R, dedicated artist development, the unparalleled radio expertise of our SVP of Promotions & Artist Development Jackie Kajzer, and our strong collaborations with radio partners. A special thank you to rock radio for their unwavering support and partnership, which continues to be a cornerstone of our success. Looking ahead, the momentum from our 2025 releases and new signings already signals another exceptional year. I extend my gratitude to our roster of world-class artists and managers for their invaluable partnership in driving our shared success.”

BETTER NOISE MUSIC’s radio highlights of 2024 include;

  • Multi-platinum hard rock titans FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH made history with “This Is the Way,” featuring legendary hip-hop artist DMX, by extending their previous record of holding the longest streak of #1’s in Billboard’s Mainstream rock chart’s history, making it their 11th straight #1 hit. Featured on the Afterlife: Deluxe album, the single marks DMX’s first-ever appearance on the chart altogether.
  • Electrifying rock powerhouse NOTHING MORE landed two #1 singles from their 2024 release CARNAL (June 28) with “IF IT DOESN’T HURT” and “ANGEL SONG (feat. David Draiman of Disturbed).” This year also saw the band achieve Gold-certification for their 2017 2x Grammy-nominated single “Go To War.”
  • Breakthrough emo rockers THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT–who were just announced as one of Pandora’s Artists to Watch 2025: The Pandora Ten– have had a dynamic year, landing their first-ever #1 single “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills)” from their 2024 album Greetings From Suffocate City (Sept 13). The band celebrated the achievement with a sold-out hometown show in Atlanta, GA after spending the year on their first-ever arena tour opening for Five Finger Death Punch in addition to festival appearances at Aftershock and Louder Than Life, and a tour with The Hu.

Loudwire included three of the above #1 tracks in their “67 Best Rock + Metal Songs of 2024” list: FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH’s “This Is The Way (feat. DMX),” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas),” and NOTHING MORE’s “ANGEL SONG (feat. David Draiman).” They also listed NOTHING MORE’s CARNAL in their list of “The 51 Best Rock + Metal Albums of 2024.” Both can be seen HERE.

BETTER NOISE MUSIC packed 2024 with new releases while their artists kept active on global tours and festival schedules.

  • British rock outfit ASKING ALEXANDRIA released two EP’s, Dark Void (Jan. 12) and Where Do We Go From Here? The Remixes (Oct. 18) while touring across North America on the second leg of their headlining “All My Friends” tour.
  • Explosive alt-metal outfit FROM ASHES TO NEW released a deluxe version of their #1-charting 2023 album, Blackout which features their #2 Mainstream rock charting single “Barely Breathing (feat. Chrissy Costanza).” The band set out on a relentless tour schedule including their headlining “The Blackout Tour Pt. 2” run, alongside jaunts with Nothing More and Set It Off while also making festival appearances at Upheaval, Inkcarceration, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock.
  • Mongolian rock sensation THE HU showed off their live chops with THE HU LIVE AT GLASTONBURY (June 7), recorded at their groundbreaking debut performance at the legendary Glastonbury festival in 2023. THE HU delivered their unparalleled and immersive performance on an arena tour as direct support to rock legends Iron Maiden across North America, along with releasing their “hunnu rock” style version of “The Trooper.”
  • Alt rock group FINISH TICKET released their sophomore album Echo Afternoon (Sept. 6), The album takes listeners on an emotional roller coaster narrating the struggles and anxiety of being stuck in limbo while trying to find an escape to a brighter future.
  • CROSSBONE SKULLY brought the legendary Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard) out of retirement to executive produce their debut record Evil World Machine (Nov. 22). Founded and fronted by Tommy Henriksen (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), the band celebrated its release with two sold-out shows at the iconic Viper Room in West Hollywood, CA.
  • Genre blending artist CORY MARKS released his second album, Sorry For Nothing (Dec. 6), which embraces his hard-working, hard-partying spirit with 13 songs equally divided between arena-rock and roots country. Its single “(Make My) Country Rock” featuring Sully Erna of Godsmack, Travis Tritt and Mick Mars is currently climbing up the Top 20 on the Active Rock radio charts.

BETTER NOISE MUSIC built up their roster in 2024 with a slew of new signings including:

  • 5x Platinum-selling rock outfit FINGER ELEVEN—one of Canada’s best-selling bands of all time with over 1 billion career streams. Listen to the new single “Adrenaline” HERE.
  • 5X Platinum-certified alternative rock mainstays  THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS announced their signing with a performance at When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas and dropped the “lost track” “Home Improvement.” The band announced a new album in 2025 which will include a handful of newly recorded “lost” tracks from the recording session of their debut album and new material.
  • 2x Platinum-certified Finnish rock group THE RASMUS announced a joint signing to Better Noise Music alongside Nordic indie label PLAYGROUND MUSIC and shared the new track “Rest In Pieces” along with announcing the European leg of their forthcoming global 2025 tour.
  • Swedish electronic/metal act SOLENCE, one of PANDORA’s “Rising Rock Artists To Watch In 2023,” have shared three highly energetic singles since signing to the label in May: “F*ck The Bad Vibes,” “A Banger a Day Keeps the Doctor Away,” and “Who You Gonna Call?.” With over 300 million cumulative streams and nearly 1 million monthly Spotify listeners, SOLENCE have built a dedicated global audience on tours with Five Finger Death Punch, Ice Nine Kills, Electric Callboy, and We Came As Romans, in addition to festival appearances such as Graspop Metal Meeting, Resurrection Fest, Tuska Festival, Nova Rock Festival, Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and Blue Ridge Rock Fest.

Next year promises to be as thrilling as BETTER NOISE MUSIC has teased more exciting new signings along with confirming new releases from Five Finger Death Punch, Dirty Heads, The HU, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Nothing More, The Rasmus, Eva Under Fire, From Ashes To New, Solence, and Cory Marks.

RIVAL SONS ‘PAIR OF ACES (PART 2): LIVE FROM SANTA CATALINA ISLAND’ Out Today On YouTube & Digital Platforms

DT: DECEMBER 13, 2024

FM: KELLY WALSH, MITCH SCHNEIDER / SRO PR

RIVAL SONS
RELEASE PAIR OF ACES (Part 2): LIVE FROM SANTA CATALINA ISLAND

AVAILABLE FOR FIRST TIME ON VIDEO AND AUDIO STREAMING PLATFORMS TODAY, DECEMBER 13

FEATURES SECOND OF TWO PERFORMANCES FROM BAND’S LIVE-STREAMED CONCERTS OF JUNE 2021

Rock’n’roll band RIVAL SONS’ live concert album PAIR OF ACES: LIVE FROM SANTA CATALINA ISLAND (PART 2) is out today on both YouTube and all audio streaming platforms. It features the performance of their 2010 self-titled EP which was recorded by 9x GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and led to the band first being signed. It includes fan-favorite tracks such as “Get What’s Coming,” “Torture,” “Radio,” “Sacred Tongue,” and “Soul.” The YouTube premiere will be followed by a live Q&A/afterparty with frontman Jay Buchanan and guitarist Scott Holiday at 2:00 P.M. ET. Watch the live concert premiere HERE and join in on the afterparty HERE. Stream the album on your preferred listening platform at https://orcd.co/rspoa2.

In June 2021, RIVAL SONS delivered two live performances from Catalina Island, CA which were streamed via VEEPS to fans at home across the world, many of whom were still in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Both performances are available to stream visually and digitally for the first time. PAIR OF ACES: LIVE FROM SANTA CATALINA ISLAND (PART 1) features the full performance of their 2009 album Before The Fire was released in November. Watch the YouTube performance HERE and/or stream the album digitally HERE.

Drummer Michael Miley states: “Night two of our trip to Catalina Island! We set up in the historic Avalon theater and it was like we were transported to another era. The theater has insane old school acoustics. You can hear someone whisper from 90 feet away like they’re directly in your ear; it was nostalgic. And dusting off the EP, especially during a pandemic, was a respite as well as a funky good time!”

Holiday elaborates on both releases: “In recognition of the 10-year anniversary of our first 2 albums, we played each album in its entirety over 2 different nights. One night in the ballroom (in the round!) performing Before the Fire, and the next night we played the self-titled record in the old movie theatre. It was every bit as cool and interesting as I’d hoped. A real honor and pleasure to fill this beautiful place with sound. The director did a great job capturing it for everyone to share in the experience with us and now it will be available to listen and watch anytime you’d like.”

ABOUT RIVAL SONS:
Rival Sons play rock ‘n’ roll in its purest form without apology or pretense. They simply plug in, turn up, and rip on a path of their own. Along the way, they’ve architected a critically acclaimed catalogue, including Pressure & Time [2011], Head Down [2012], Great Western Valkyrie [2014], Hollow Bones [2016], and FERAL ROOTS [2019]. The latter represented a creative and critical high watermark, scoring a pair of GRAMMY® Award nominations in the categories of “Best Rock Album” and “Best Rock Performance” for the single “Too Bad.” Elevating the band to another level, “Do Your Worst” vaulted to #1 at Rock Radio as their biggest hit to date, tallying north of 60 million streams and counting. Speaking to their impact, Rolling Stone attested, “Rival Sons have done their part to introduce new fans to rock.” Beyond sharing stages with everyone from Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones, and AC/DC to Guns N’ Roses and Lenny Kravitz, they’ve ignited television shows such as The Late Late Show with James Corden. During 2021, they launched their own label Sacred Tongue Recordings distributed by Thirty Tigers and celebrated the anniversary of their debut album with live streamed performances from Catalina Island Casino.

Hand-picked by Black Sabbath for their final tour, they’ve held their own on stage with the greats like The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, and Lenny Kravitz in addition to blowing the roof off television staples such as The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jools Holland, and Jimmy Kimmel.

In 2023, they continued to subvert expectations with two full-length LPs—DARKFIGHTER and LIGHTBRINGER. Though the genesis of these albums is intertwined, they also speak to the band’s perpetual progression forward.

One of the most hard-working rock’n’roll bands out there, 2024 saw Rival Sons complete extensive European festival dates throughout the summer, and then embark on the “Two Headed-Beast” tour with Clutch across North America. This week Rival Sons were announced as main support on ten of Guns N’ Roses European stadium shows next Summer 2025.

Guitarists Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction) and Billy Morrison (Billy Idol) have announced the initial artists who will join them for the January 25 ABOVE GROUND” benefit concert at The Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The fourth iteration of the event will feature performances from Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle), Billy Idol, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains), Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads/ Modern Lovers), Josh Freese (Foo Fighters), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Tommy Henriksen  & Glen Sobel (Alice Cooper, Hollywood Vampires), with additional talent to be announced in the new year.

The ABOVE GROUND concerts have become known for celebrating the vinyl album as an art form with performances of two seminal albums in their entirety. This year will see Navarro and Morrison shining the light on the groundbreaking self-titled debuts by the New York Dolls (1973) and The Cars (1978) and other songs.

“Dave and I love albums that sit closer to the ‘art’ side of things, and that are a bit of a challenge to recreate,” Billy Morrison says. “We just do our best to honor the records, to get the parts and the tones correct, to not just hack through bad cover versions of these important songs. So, we don’t really try to put a ‘spin’ on them but rather present these albums as they were meant to be heard, every song in order, sounding as close as we can get to the original.”

ABOVE GROUND 3 [2021] was a great success,” Dave Navarro says. “But I got really sick with Covid after that show. And it’s been over two years until I was well enough to get back on stage. And as I continue to heal, we thought this is the time! We have work to do and we need to remind people, especially through the holidays, that it’s ok to ask for help! I really look forward to getting on stage with my friends and recreating this seminal music while at the same time having some fun and raising money for MusiCares.”

“The need to shine a light on mental health doesn’t go away,” Morrison says. “And I think that Dave and I work so well together on these AG events that it just felt right to come back with the fourth show. We both have our own mental health battles on different levels and if we can help raise some funds and awareness, then we are doing a good thing.”

“ABOVE GROUND” launched in 2018 and has featured Navarro and Morrison alongside a star-studded lineup of their friends including Jack Black, Corey Taylor, Anthony Kiedis, Juliette Lewis, Courtney Love, Billy Idol, Al Jourgensen, Steve Stevens, and many more. The events have highlighted full-length albums from legendary acts including Adam and The Ants, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, The Stooges, and Sex Pistols. Tickets are on sale now HERE.

Innovative Mongolian rock group and global phenomenon THE HU will continue to dominate audiences worldwide in 2025 as they today (December 10) announce dates for the European leg of their headlining “Incarnation” World Tour. Set to kick off in early June, the tour will coincide with a series of shows with THE HU supporting Scandinavian folk outfit Heilung on the band’s final tour. THE HU will also appear on several of Europe’s largest heavy music festivals during the run including Hellfest and Graspop Metal Meeting. See full dates listed below. Tickets are on sale this Friday, December 13 via THE HU’s website HERE.

THE HU recently released a ‘hunnu rock’-styled take on Iron Maiden’s classic single “The Trooper.” It was aligned with the start of their North American tour directly supporting the metal legends earlier this fall. Stream the “raucous, adrenaline-fueled” (NME) cover now HERE and watch the music video HERE. “If they had amplification in ‘Game of Thrones,’ there would have been a band like this,’ exclaimed Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (11/8/24). “The Hu is described as folk-metal but they sounded a lot more like Motörhead or Metallica while mixing in traditional string instruments the morin khuur and tovshuur, with throat-singing growls and howls on top.”

THE HU have brought Mongolian music to the forefront with their unique brand of Hunnu Rock which blends traditional Mongolian instrumentation and throat singing with contemporary rock music. With over 830 million all-time streams, 330 million video views, #1 charting albums, multiple sold-out headlining tours, prestigious government honors and awards, collaborations with several of rock’s biggest names, and featured music on video games including EA Games’ Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, THE HU have cemented their status as a global powerhouse.

Having just wrapped up an acoustic U.S. tour supporting multi-Platinum rockers Theory of A Deadman, CORY MARKS invites listeners to crank up the volume and join him for the release of his sophomore album, SORRY FOR NOTHING, out today, December 6, via Better Noise Music alongside the music video for its equally unapologetic title track. Watch it streaming below or via YouTube HERE. SORRY FOR NOTHING is available now on exclusive red vinyl, cd, and/or digital download at https://corymarks.ffm.to/sfn. Exclusive merch bundles are available HERE at the BNM European label store.

“‘Sorry For Nothing’ is one of my favorite songs on the album and hits home for me in a nostalgic way,” exclaims CORY. “Where I came from, what I’ve been through, and where I’m going. It’s for any small-town kid with a dream—and believe me, there will be roadblocks…but keep working towards it and be sorry for nothing!”

SORRY FOR NOTHING is a double-barreled blast of 13 songs, equally divided between arena-rock and roots country. The album comes as a follow-up to CORY’s successful debut, Who I Am, which included the hit single “Outlaws & Outsiders.” The song made history as the first-ever Top 10 rock radio-charting single from a Canadian country act and received Platinum certification in Canada and Gold in the U.S.

Produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Shania Twain, Papa Roach), plus Kile Odell (Nita Strauss, David Draiman), and Andrew Baylis (Jelly Roll, Brantley Gilbert), SORRY FOR NOTHING’s tracks range from Haggard-like country and virtual bluegrass to straight-up arena anthems and almost Pantera-like hard metal as well as mashing both styles in a single song. Guest appearances include Sully Erna of Godsmack, Travis Tritt and Mick Mars on (Make My) Country Rock”–which is climbing up the Active Rock radio charts (currently at #20) –and DL of Bad Wolves on “Guilty.”

“The record is really who I am,” says CORY. “The title says it all. I love rock and I love country. I’ve always wanted to be part of something, but I pave my own lane, do what I want to do, try to bring people together. Whether you’re a rock fan, a metal fan or a country music fan, my mission is to reach anyone who feels a little different.”

“It’s a kick in the ass, the good, the bad and the ugly, the ups and downs of life, adding that little bit of fuel to the fire to keep you fighting and to keep your eye on the prize. There are songs for partying, songs to look back on life and have a good cry, love songs… something for everyone.”

Here’s what critics are saying about SORRY FOR NOTHING:

“‘Sorry For Nothing’ blends the artist’s rock soul with his country DNA in a harmonious way, showcasing an inspired Cory Marks with some tracks worthy of attention”
– Rock Hard Italy

“A noteworthy comeback for Cory Marks with ‘Sorry For Nothing,’ an enjoyable album where the artist experiments with new approaches that bring him closer to contemporary rock, without forgetting his past”
– Music And Riots Magazine PT

“‘Sorry For Nothing’ showcases Cory Marks’ constant artistic growth, excelling both in more rock-oriented settings and in his ‘comfort zone’ of traditional country”
– Metalzone France

“Every song on ‘Sorry For Nothing’ is pure gold!”
-10/10, Powerplay

“Harder style … well worth listening to”
– Fireworks

“Brings a fresh and edgy sound to the (country) genre”
– Maverick

“A lot of rock’n’roll, a lot of country – the young Cory Marks has fused the music genres he grew up with to create his very own sound”
Classic Rock (Germany)

“On ‘Sorry For Nothing’ the good man once again blends rock, country and a few metal elements into an immensely catchy mixture, which hits the ear-worm accelerator already with the opener ‘(Make My) Country Rock’”
-SLAM Magazine (Austria)

“Cory Marks combines the best of both worlds on his new album ‘Sorry For Nothing’“
– Musix (Germany)
