Americana/alt-country singer-songwriter and bassist DEB MORRISON will release her debut solo album THE NORTH FORK on September 9 via Blackbird Record Label. Following the reveal of its lead single–title track “The North Fork” in July–MORRISON is now sharing a second sampling of new material with the musically twisting-and-turning single “Blackbird,” available to stream and/or download across all digital platforms this Friday, August 19. The track is accompanied by a cinematic, short film-style music video which premiered yesterday (August 17) via The Bluegrass Situation. Watch the “Blackbird” music video streaming via YouTube HERE or streaming below. Pre-save the track here: <need link>

The “Blackbird” video keeps viewers on the edge of their seats with its haunting, ethereal visuals and stars actor Todd Lowe (“True Blood,” “Gilmore Girls”) alongside an eclectic cast of characters including a friend of MORRISON’s whose near-death experience inspired the song’s lyrics. It was directed by MORRISON and Nic Capelle of Rockton Road Studios, who also co-directed “The North Fork” and produced MORRISON’s upcoming album.

“It’s about looking death in the face and giving it a big ‘ole middle finger,” explains MORRISON. “The main character, played by actor Todd Lowe, sets the story in motion with an emotional opening scene before embarking on his quest to fight the powers that be. ‘Blackbird’ is about the unrelenting strength it takes to fight for your life. It’s about being a warrior.”

MORRISON recalls that “I met Todd at a house party jam session years ago and our bands have played bills together ever since. He’s a true artist both as a musician and an actor and we knew he would kill the part.  We gave him a little background on the role we envisioned, stuck him in an empty room, blasted the music and he proceeded to blow our minds.”

THE NORTH FORK contains the same mix of cinematic storytelling and smoky, sultry delivery and is a melting-pot of American roots music that blurs the boundaries between alt-country, Americana, and roadhouse rock & roll. The album highlights MORRISON’s time spent traveling during childhood as the daughter of an Air Force Colonel emphasizing her fondness for California’s vivid scenery and ghost-town landscapes. Its title is a nod to the nostalgic town located at the convergence of the North and South Forks of the American River which she considers her home base and was the setting for the music video for its first single, title track, “The North Fork.”

Read the press release HERE.

A longtime bass player and singer/songwriter, MORRISON cut her teeth in alt-rock bands like Daisychain and Swing before forming her own Americana band, Morrison & Company, in 2015. She also plays in The Wild West, an all-female supergroup featuring modern-day icons of Southern California’s roots community. THE NORTH FORK makes room for all of those influences, while also highlighting the evocative lyrics of a visually-minded songwriter.

‘BLACK HOLE MAGIC’ DUE OCTOBER 7 VIA RIPTIDE MUSIC GROUP

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and engineer CRIS HODGES has returned with a second sampling of new music from his debut solo album BLACK HOLE MAGIC, out October 7 via Riptide Music Group. HODGES has shared the track and video “Tear It Down” which features acclaimed producer and labelmate TheUnder, who’s best known for his viral 2019 orchestral single “Fight,” featured on the Hobbs & Shaw trailer. The song is available for streaming and download now across all digital platforms and its music video can be seen streaming below. “Tear It Down” highlights HODGES soaring vocals with a melodic rock base and electronic stylings.

“I wrote ‘Tear It Down’ about abuse of power and using poverty as a means of control,” says HODGES. “The lyrics were inspired by several experiences while touring different parts of the world and speaking to communities who were doing their absolute best to stay alive and provide for their families. They seemed stuck, afraid to challenge the rules and rulers that oppressed them. Maybe no one has ever given them permission to challenge their current life experience. I wanted to do that with this song.”

HODGES previously shared the album’s lead single “Devil In Charge” in July which further exemplifies his distinctive genre-blending sound adding in pop elements to the rock/edm-based track. BLACK HOLE MAGIC will continue to showcases his fearless artistry and unique vision across 13 tracks of unashamed, unapologetic, spirited music, adding in country and blues elements.

Equal parts self-starting entrepreneur and versatile songsmith, HODGES is a native Texan who moved to Los Angeles after responding to a Craigslist ad looking for a talented session vocalist for film and TV. There he developed his skill set as a topline specialist, vocal performer and composer, working behind the scenes with Paramount Pictures, Sony, Nickelodeon and Riptide Music Group, among others. Inspired by Boyz II Men, Michael Jackson, and Ace Of Base as a young child informed his pop sensibilities while his teenage discovery of alt-rock icons like Stone Temple Pilots and Jane’s Addiction introduced the mixture of heaviness and emotionalism that’s also become central to the music he makes today.

As three-time Grammy-nominated hard rock quartet NOTHING MORE gear up to hit the road later this month alongside IN THIS MOMENT, the band have shared a fourth new track, “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS,” from their upcoming album SPIRITS – out October 14 and available for pre-order now. The impassioned song examines what happens when one tries to make a one-sided relationship work with all-too-real lyrics— “I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, there’s no rest, there’s no peace”—which leads into frontman JONNY HAWKINS’ fervently belting out its chorus, “You don’t know what love means, and it’s killing me.” Watch the official video below and stream/download “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS” here: https://nothingmore.ffm.to/youdontknowwhatlovemeans

“We’re glad this song is finally getting out there so we can dig into the emotional and intimate side of the album,” says Hawkins. “The lyrics and tone of this one feels like it hits in a similar way that ‘Go To War’ and ‘Jenny’ did. It’s going to feel huge playing this next one on tour.”

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT LOVE MEANS” follows previously released album tracks “SPIRITS” and “TURN IT UP LIKE.” The lead-off track “TIRED OF WINNING” is currently #6 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart, and the extended version, “TIRED OF WINNING / SHIPS IN THE NIGHT, is also included on THE RETALIATIORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK for Better Noise Film’s upcoming horror-thriller THE RETALIATORS. Pre-order tickets for the movie and the soundtrack featuring Nothing More at http://www.retaliatorsmovie.com

SPIRITS combines NOTHING MORE’s unapologetically massive anthems, catchy hooks, and progressive music with introspective, philosophical lyrics and thought-provoking emotionalism. Its eleven tracks were co-written by all band members–Hawkins [vocals], Mark Vollelunga [guitar], Daniel Oliver [bass], and Ben Anderson [drums]–and their longtime manager and co-producer Will Hoffman. The album documents the tumultuous time the world experienced over the past two years capturing the desperation and isolation of lockdown, the spiral of substance abuse, the pain of broken relationships, and survival in self-reliance while summarizing the overall story and mission of NOTHING MORE: Reflect, Provoke, Inspire. Pre-order SPIRITS now at: https://nothingmore.ffm.to/spirits.

The band has further embellished the SPIRITS concept with their self-designed meta-personality test, “SPIRITS TEST,” and their first-ever graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” (Z2 Comics), which introduces the “SPIRIT TYPES,” which stem from the results of taking the “SPIRITS TEST” as the four main characters in the graphic novel. Find out your SPIRIT TYPE by taking the SPIRITS TEST at https://spiritstest.com/. Pre-order “SPIRITS VOL. 1” (due in Spring 2023) to find out more about your SPIRIT TYPE and the album’s story here: z2comics.com/nothingmore.

NOTHING MORE will bring their mesmerizing live performance—including their crowd favorite “Scorpion Tail” (a 400-pound, 14-foot MIDI controller constructed out of salvaged metal scraps by bassist Daniel Oliver that allows Hawkins to control the music while delivering his theatrical stage presence)—to audiences across the U.S. later this month as they kick off a three-month tour in direct support of In This Moment from 8/26 to 10/23. During the run, NOTHING MORE will branch off for a handful of headlining shows with support from British rockers Sleep Token and rock & roll burlesque dance troupe Cherry Bombs, in addition to dropping in at a few of rock’s biggest festivals, including Louder Than Life, Rocklahoma, Aftershock and Blue Ridge Rock Festival. Tickets are on sale now as well as VIP upgrades at https://nothingmore.net.

OUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON EPIC

Is OZZY OSBOURNE coming to a city near you?

Last month, San Diego Comic-Con fans got to see a 25-foot giant OZZY OSBOURNE inflatable designed by Todd McFarlane towering over the convention. The “OZZY” inflatable has now embarked on a cross-country promotional tour in support of OSBOURNE’s new PATIENT NUMBER 9 album out September 9 on Epic. The month-long tour will close out in New York City the week of the album’s release. Some locations will be revealed 24 hours in advance, while others will be surprise appearances. At all stops, fans can win merchandise and pose for photos with “OZZY” and the PATIENT NUMBER 9 ambulance, they’ll also have the opportunity to win the 25-foot giant OZZY OSBOURNE inflatable, details here. The tour kicked off with three initial stops in Los Angeles. It began with an appearance at the historic Venice Boardwalk on Saturday, followed with a stop at Smorgasburg LA–the weekly Sunday market at The Row in downtown Los Angeles–before bidding farewell to the city on Monday atop East Hollywood boutique hotel, bar, and recording studio complex Gold Diggers.OZZY” then made a surprise appearance on the Las Vegas strip on Tuesday before heading to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota this weekend.

PATIENT NUMBER 9 is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter OSBOURNE’s new album and the first since his critically acclaimed, worldwide, chart-topping 2020 ORDINARY MAN release. Produced by Andrew Watt (who handled the same duties on ORDINARY MAN), the new album marks OSBOURNE’s 13th solo studio album. It’s heavy, it’s hard-hitting, it’s historic–it’s everything you’d want from an OZZY OSBOURNE record and maybe more. Working with producer Watt for the second time, OZZY welcomed a dynamic A-list featured guests. The record boasts guitarists Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and longstanding righthand man and six-string beast Zakk Wylde who plays on the majority of the tracks. For the bulk of the album, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers held down drums, while the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters appears on three songs. Old friend and one-time OZZY band member Robert Trujillo of Metallica plays bass on most of the album’s tracks, with Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction supplying bass on a few songs.

Coming off their most recent single/video “Last Drop,” VELVET CHAINS are sharing more new music from their second as-yet-untitled full-length album (due in October) with the hard-hitting track “Back On The Train,” out digitally August 12. The Las Vegas hard rock outfit collaborated with award-winning director Dean Karr (Ozzy Osbourne, Velvet Revolver) for the song’s hauntingly twisted music video and acclaimed artist Tim LeNoir (Guns N’ Roses, Rolling Stones) for the cover artwork (seen above). The video premiered yesterday (August 10) via MXDWN who described the song as being “armed with thunderous riffs, melodious guitars…[and] booming vocals.”

Watch “Back On The Train,” streaming below or directly HERE followed by a Q&A with founding member & bassist Nils Goldschmidt.

Back on The Train” is sonically inspired by one of the band’s primary influences, Velvet Revolver, and lyrically explores romantic desire, seduction and obsession. The track’s

heavy riffs, melodic guitars, soaring vocals and driving rhythms were captured at Monster Sound and Picture in Vegas with producers Darren Trentacoste and James Boldt and sent for mixing and mastering by Tristan Hardin (The Hideout Studio). It was written by Goldschmidt and the band’s drummer Jason Hope along with multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Lindsey Stirling, Christina Perri).

With a refreshed lineup consisting of Nils Goldschmidt (bass), Brazilian brothers Laurent (lead guitar) and Larry (rhythm guitar) Cassiano, drummer Jason Hope and Chilean-bred lead singer Ro Viper, VELVET CHAINS will bring their new music to audiences at Blue Ridge Rock Fest (Alton, VA) on September 1. They also performed this past July at Rock Fest (Caddott, WI) and opened in June for Todd Kerns (Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Age of Electric) at Count’s Vamp’d in Vegas. Look for VELVET CHAINS to support Kerns again at Count’s Vamp’d on Friday, September 16 and catch them in Vegas weekly on Monday’s beginning on August 29 at The Barbershop speakeasy at The Cosmopolitan.

Q&A on “BACK ON THE TRAIN” with NILS GOLDSCHMIDT

Having worked with Dean Karr on your previous album for the single ‘Tattooed” can you share what factors drew you to return to him for the new album and why specifically you chose to have him do a video for “Back On The Train”?

“Dean is not only a legend in the industry but also a music video visionary. He always knows what’s best for the specific song he’s working on and is always able to get the best out of each band he works with. We gave him a few options of songs, and naturally Dean being a true rock n’ roll fan, he went with the fastest, most energetic, authentic rock song we had at the time. We’re happy that he chose this song because it has a Velvet Revolver hard rock style to it, a band Dean has worked with several times, hence this was right up his alley. The resulting video was just insane.”

Where was the video filmed at and how did you use the locations to add into the dark theme of “Back On The Train”?

“We filmed the video at a creepy house located in the outskirts of LA. It seemed like it was a relatively new location and the only other band that had filmed a music video there the week prior was Paramore. Each room in the house had its own tone of creepiness to it, which worked wonders for the video.”

Can you talk us through the writing process for “Back On The Train”? What inspired the lyrics?

“Initially I, founder/bassist, and multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Christina Perry, Lindsey Stirling) got together and came up with the main riffs, chorus, etc. for the song and put together a demo with just mumbled words. Our drummer Jason Hope wrote the lyrics to the song. His inspiration for lyrics came from relationship dynamics and when people have moved on to being single, and once again ‘back on the train’ looking for new potential love (or lust) interests.”

“Back On The Train” has a tense and fast-paced rhythm that brings to mind Velvet Revolver. Can you tell us about that?

“Velvet Revolver is one of our biggest influences and while we never set out to write a song that sounds like a band that we love, it’s inevitable that every now and then you’ll be able to hear some of them in our music. We love the fast pace, in your face, hard rock that Velvet Revolver represents, and we’re proud that ‘Back On The Train’ fits that bill.”

Minneapolis-based singer, songwriter, pianist and performer PAMELA McNEILL today (August 5) releases her full-length album NEON LIGHTNING for Farm To Label Records, distributed by Sony Music’s The Orchard on all streaming platforms.

A collection of eight self-written songs, NEON LIGHTNING reignites McNEILL’s inner “rock chick” at her purest form: a fusion of the idealism of her 20s and the confidence of the more insightful, experienced artist she is today. Her career culminates from deep roots in the 80’s Minneapolis music scene, to a move to the UK where she was a background singer for Rick Astley. Years later she returned home to Minneapolis and made frequent songwriting trips to Nashville and performed “in the rounds” at the Bluebird Café. It was during the height of the pandemic, at her home just outside of the Twin Cities, that she got back in touch with her beloved pop and anthemic rock musical roots, thus creating this self-written album that features string-lavished, piano-driven power ballads and arena-ready piano-rock composed entirely on her white baby grand piano named “Pearl,” in a no pressure, no pretense, and no Pro Tools firebolt of inspiration. It was later played and recorded live with real instruments and real musicians in real time.

The album features the Elton John-style single/video “Hollywood Rainreleased June 24. Elsewhere, PAMELA dips into Tom Petty-like country pop-rock on “Heavy Lifting,” the album’s first single/video, and “Jenny,” the album’s second single/video, is a stirring piano ballad, addressing the plight of an abused woman. The album closes with PAMELA’s very personal song “In the Midnight Blue,” with some intriguing Beatles-esque musical moments.

NEON LIGHTNING was produced by Minneapolis producer, engineer and musician/guitarist Matthew Kirkwold (Quiet Drive and Lucky Boys Confusion) at John Richardson’s Drum Farm Studios in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Musicians on the album include Adam Ollendorff on acoustic guitars and steel guitar (Kacey Musgraves, Will Hoge, Katy Perry), Adam Keafer on bass (Kacey Musgraves, Matthew Perryman), John Richardson on drums (Gin Blossoms), and PAMELA on piano and Matthew on electric guitars. Grammy-award nominated, multi-platinum mixing engineer/producer Justin Cortelyou (Paul McCartney, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, U2, Lady Gaga) engineered the sessions.

TRACK BY TRACK:

1.Jupiter’s Moons – Writer – Pamela McNeill

This was the song that truly lit the path for “Neon Lightning.” I had been listening to a lot of Rickie Lee Jones, one of my musical heroes, and wanted to create a song that could be almost a calling card for the beginning of my live shows as well. I could envision the first line “Turn on the lights…” coming from a black stage to the lights coming up. With the lyric “Make a little noise,” I imagined the audience responding and thought it might create a memorable start to a show.  We played our first show a few weeks ago and it worked like magic! They cheered right where they were supposed to! The song is about me missing those I love so much who have passed on.  And the connection we still have with each other from earth to beyond.

2. Hollywood Rain – Writer – Pamela McNeill

This started with the title.  My husband Bruce and I were in Florida right before the pandemic exploded, having dinner in a restaurant at the hotel we were staying at and outside it was dark and storming like crazy! I thought—“wow”—that looks like a Hollywood Rain! There were a few well-placed outside lights that lit it up like any classic movie scene with rain.  And I thought, “OH! I want to write THIS song!!! Then, about 10 months into the pandemic, I was sitting at home playing “Pearl” (our white baby grand), and I was so depressed. Not being able to go anywhere.  No gigs. It was very hard for me. And I had a strong feeling hit me—”I miss the Madonna Days.”  The 80’s. The colors.  The way it seemed we all got along better (whether real or imagined). The different musical styles. The clothes. So that led to recalling those days for me—high school hangs with friends at the lake, or watching MTV, wearing leg warmers and mixing bright colors. To being in England at the height of the 80’s pop movement.  And being smack dab in the middle of it with Rick Astley.  Then thinking about how different life feels now.  Not depressing—but different. Happy to have the wisdom I have now.  And grateful for the memories.  So, I wanted this to be a joyful celebration of those times.  This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. Because of how it makes me feel!  My “Elton John” song!  Tommy Barbarella wrote the string arrangements for this song. I’d asked for “Elton John” strings and he delivered that in spades! Tommy worked with Prince so he’s truly amazing!

3.  Heavy Lifting – Writer – Pamela McNeill

I came up with a piano chord progression that I was really digging and I loved how the hook in the progression “rubbed” against the major chords. I had the title “Heavy Lifting” rolling around in my head for a few weeks and knew I wanted to see where it led. “He made you do the heavy lifting…like it was all your fault…” came to me instantly and I heard it being sung by Tom Petty in my head! And from there it just wrote itself. Maybe took me 15 minutes to write the whole thing.

4. Jenny – Writer – Pamela McNeill

This song began with the opening piano riff and the name “Jenny” came into my head. I wasn’t thinking of any one in particular, but that was the character that revealed herself. I knew it wasn’t Jenny speaking but someone else who was standing up for her in the story. I wasn’t sure who exactly, but it quickly turned out to be a best friend of hers. It really wasn’t important who the “villain” in the story was technically as much as we know he had treated her very, very badly and was abusive in some manner. I was fed up with reading stories every day about men who shot or killed their wives, ex-wives, girlfriends simply because the woman had tried to break away from them. This entire “I own you and if I can’t have you nobody can” mindset is bullshit and we don’t do enough to prevent this or punish men (in general) for this type of abuse and attitude, in my opinion.

I heard “Aerosmith Strings” immediately and told my producer Matthew Kirkwold that’s what I wanted. Once again, he had Tommy Barbarella work his magic and it added the drama and passion the song needed to really PUNCH the emotions. We had a live string session with Tommy Barbarella conducting for both “Jenny” and “Hollywood Rain.” Incredibly profound and powerful.

5. Another Like Me – Writer – Pamela McNeill

This is the only song not written specifically for “Neon Lightning.” I had written it in 2018 and had recorded it in Nashville. I thought we missed what I’d wanted for the song— and that was to treat it more like a Pink –pop rock song than country. People had really loved it, so I played it for Matthew the first time he came over to listen to my songs. He got it right away! He had me make one timing move on the opening progression and it moved it into the more pop mode immediately! We especially had fun recording the backing vocals for this. The message of believing in yourself no matter who tried to stand in your way is timeless.

6. 10,000 Lakes – Writer – Pamela McNeill

Bruce and I had been wondering if there was some other city we’d like to live in. After going through a list of many potential cities, it turned out they all had major issues that we wouldn’t want to navigate. We kept going back to right where we are. I wanted to write something about my home ground. And the song just poured out. I was inspired by Prince and how he’d write about Minnesota, too. Somehow he made it cool.

After the riots that really damaged Minneapolis after the murder of George Floyd, I and many others really wrestled with whether we wanted to stay here or not. If you weren’t here, you wouldn’t understand. But if you were, it was life changing. It challenged almost everyone in the biggest and smallest ways. In our belief systems. We had to look inward. So many tough questions. But at the end of the day, I want—HAVE—to believe that Minneapolis will come back strong again. And that we can make it an even better city.

7. Love is a Superhero – Writer – Pamela McNeill

This was the last song I wrote for “Neon Lightning.” It started with that opening piano progression which felt so rich and deep and very satisfying to me. The “Space” in the song is as important to the structure of the song as the lyrics, chords and melody are.

This is my love song to Bruce. But it could just as well be a mother talking to a child or a best friend to another friend—basically for anyone who has ever responded and lifted up someone who was in need of love. In their darkest moment. Where would I or “we” be without love swooping in? Saving the day…

8. In the Midnight Blue – Writer – Pamela McNeill

My piano “Pearl” definitely dictated this song for me. I just felt so good to play this and so natural. My therapist, who I’ve been seeing on and off for 10 years, asked me one day if I ever had or ever would write a song for the little girl inside—and what would I say to her? This is that song.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter and musician J.D. HUGGINS showcases his vibrant combination of Southern blues and dirty alternative rock on the single “Life I Lead” taken from his debut solo album HEAD FULL OF MONSTERS released in July via Struggle JenningsAngels & Outlaws record label. Today, August 3, J.D. has revealed a music video for the track which was recorded in Ashland City, TN with director Alisa Daglio (Body Count, Yelawolf). Watch it streaming below or directly via YouTube HERE.

“I really wanted to do a music video with a story line and have family and friends play the roles,” shares J.D. “I always thought that would be fun and also rewarding for them to experience how it worked and get the opportunity to be involved. In the ‘Life I Lead’ music video I was able to have my niece, Jaylee Grace, and my son, Owen in it. I also had my brother in-law and some dear friends come be a part of it.”

He further went on to share background on the video’s location and concept stating: “We shot this music video on an old property out in Ashland City, TN. The property had the same vibe as my upbringing in the Appalachians mountains, making it the perfect spot to shoot a song about that region. The details of the video aren’t a reflection of my childhood but more or less a dark twist on how it can be back in the mountains. I have always loved dark story lines and unexpected twists in music videos and movies, so this seemed like a perfect song to accomplish that.”

HEAD FULL OF MONSTERS is available to stream/download now across all digital platforms at https://onerpm.link/headfullofmonsters.

HUGGINS was raised in the Appalachian Mountains in a small town in Georgia where he spent his time fishing, hunting, camping and teaching himself how to play the guitar. Born into a musical family, he began songwriting at an early age taking influence from his surroundings. He then moved to Nashville to front the southern rock band Heathen Sons who released two full-length albums and an EP and received notoriety for their single “Temporary Queen” which was featured on the hit ABC television show “Blood & Oil.” Before disbanding in 2019, the band was on the road performing with acts including Whiskey Myers, Turnpike Troubadours, The Cadillac Three, Nikki Lane, Will Hoge, Leah Blevins and Goodbye June as well as appearing at Whiskey Jam and SXSW.

In anticipation of the forthcoming cinematic release of BETTER NOISE FILMS’ new horror-thriller THE RETALIATORS worldwide release on September 14, BETTER NOISE MUSIC has released the movie’s theme song across digital platforms today (August 5) along with a music video featuring clips from the film. “The Retaliators Theme Song (21 Bullets)” co-written by Nikki Sixx and James Michael of Sixx:A.M., features MÖTLEY CRÜE, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, ICE NINE KILLS, and FROM ASHES TO NEW and is featured on THE RETALIATORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK due out September 16 via Better Noise Music. Watch/stream “The Retaliators Theme Song (21 Bullets)” below or directly HERE.

“Writing a new theme song for a horror flick was inspiring,” says Sixx. “This was my first time writing for a horror-thriller film, and it took me in a different direction from the first theme song I wrote – ‘The Dirt (1981)’ by Mötley Crüe. I worked with some great new artists to create a new sound that will stretch Mötley Crüe’s audience to new fans.  I had a great time writing it, and I think our fans will love it too!”

“We have a great lineup of artists on The Retaliators soundtrack,” says BETTER NOISE CEO Allen Kovac. “At Better Noise, we are in the business of bringing music and film together and fans are responding. We’re anticipating a great result.”

The soundtrack encompasses a hard-hitting lineup of rock tracks from several of Better Noise Music’s roster, many of which also make on-screen appearances, including Tommy Lee (Mötley Crüe), Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch), and Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). THE RETALIATORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK pre-orders are available now, including the soundtrack offered on limited collector’s edition 180-gram red and black splatter vinyl housed in a gatefold sleeve with exclusive movie stills, a 24×36 movie poster collectable, blood-spattered o-card and a digital download; digipak CD and Cassette.

The digital version of THE RETALIATORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK will include the track “Cops Are Here” from the movie’s official score, which was arranged by Stranger Things composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. The soundtrack audio will also include snippets from the film interspersed throughout the track listing, driving the film’s main message, “If you could have a minute alone with the person who killed your loved one…would you take it?” Pre-order the soundtrack now at https://theretaliators.ffm.to/retaliatorssoundtrack.

“A brutal and vivid punch to the gut, ‘The Retaliators’ is a rock song birthed onto screen and is sure to be a hit with fans of music and horror alike,” proclaims Hollywood News (8/30/21). THE RETALIATORS is based on the real-life story of an upstanding pastor who uncovers a dark and twisted underworld as he searches for answers surrounding his daughter’s brutal murder and stars Michael Lombardi (FX’s ‘Rescue Me,’ ‘The Deuce’) and Marc Menchaca (‘Ozark,’ ‘Black Mirror’). Only available in theatres, pre-sale tickets are available as of today. Head to RETALIATORSMOVIE.COM to reserve your tickets at your local movie theater. “I always think like a singer when I play a Sting melody,” says acoustic guitarist extraordinaire TOMMY EMMANUEL, who today (August 4) releases his video for “Fields of Gold,” an all-instrumental cover of the Sting gem he recorded with British acoustic guitar virtuoso Mike Dawes. The song is featured on the upcoming five-song EP from TOMMY with Dawes, ACCOMPLICE SERIES VOL. 3, due out September 23 on CGP SOUNDS. Watch the beautiful video here, filmed in Franklin, Kentucky amid the yellow sagebrush and directed and edited by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard for Neighborhoods Apart. Pre-save the single, out tomorrow (August 5), here and pre-order the EP here.

“Fields of Gold” was premiered yesterday by Glide Magazine, which wrote: “Fearless fingerstyle guitarist Tommy Emmanuel certainly has an almost supernatural ability to create a cinematic substance with the most abbreviated musical setups. Yet the man and his acoustic, continue to set a bar that very few have approached…the duo’s reimagination of Sting’s “Fields of Gold” (below) a colorful take where a breezy soul elevates this nostalgic yet melancholy tune to imaginative double melodies.”

TOMMY and Mike joined forces last year to record and release their interpretation of Goyte’s 2011 hit “Somebody That I Used To Know(described by Guitar Player as “spellbinding,” 6/24/21) and followed it with their cover of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit,” of which Guitar World noted: “the acoustic virtuoso duo combine powers to rework the era-defining grunge anthem, with spectacular results” (6/23/22)

Both artists also light up the EP with their stirring all-instrumental reworkings of “Slow Dancing In a Burning Room” (John Mayer) and “Be My Mistake” (The 1975), alongside “Somebody That I Used To Know,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and “Fields of Gold.”

“Playing this masterpiece with Mike is always fun and emotional…a simple repetitive melody with a slowly building arrangement that becomes powerful,” says TOMMY about “Fields of Gold.” Mike explains that “’Fields’ was Tommy’s idea based on his own arrangement from the ‘Can’t Get Enough’ record [Tommy’s 1996 album]. I wanted to hold down something of a strict rhythm and backbeat for this one. The result is a mid-tempo homage to the classic Sting song. This was recorded in a single take by Marc DeSisto. I’m playing in DADGAD tuning whilst Tommy is in standard tuning. I particularly like the different tones on our guitars on this one. Tommy’s bright flatpicked Maton soars over my fingerpicked Indian Rose Cuntz guitar. This was very important in a tune with doubled melodies.”

TOMMY and his special guest Mike, who’ve toured together in the past including this past January’s run, will do so again in the U.S. starting in December 2022. The dates follow below and most shows are on sale now.

Full Track Listing for Accomplice EP #3:

1. Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana cover)
2. Slow Dancing In a Burning Room (John Mayer cover)
3. Fields of Gold (Sting cover)
4. Somebody I Used to Know (Gotye cover)
5. Be My Mistake (1975 cover)

ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL:

TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. By 30, he was a rock n’ roll lead guitarist burning up stadiums in Europe. At 44, he became one of five people ever named a CPG (Certified Guitar Player) by his idol, music icon Chet Atkins. Today, he plays hundreds of sold-out shows every year from Nashville to Sydney to London. He’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy Award nominationstwo ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy); repeated honors in the Guitar Player magazine reader’s poll including a cover story for their August 2017 issue; a cover feature for Vintage Guitar’s July 2020 issue; and was Music Radar’s reader’s poll #1 winner of the Ten Best Acoustic Guitarists in The World (December 2019). A noted fingerstyle guitarist, EMMANUEL frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but EMMANUEL never plays the same show twice, and he improvises big chunks of every date. That leaves him open to those technical imperfections, though they also provide some of the humanity to an other-worldly talent. On May 8, 2020, he released a newly recorded career-spanning double album, THE BEST OF TOMMYSONGS, via CGP Sounds/Cruzen Street Records). What started as a meme created by Modern Day Escape bassist and songwriter William Wenz about hosting a festival in a Denny’s parking lot turned to reality as he created the WHEN WE WERE HUNGRY FESTIVAL alongside co-founder/director and artist manager Mal Levy.

The inaugural event will take place in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21 at the 3,000-capacity venue Rockstar Bar – Concert On The Green. The festival will highlight independent-focused acts that represent a who’s-who of the past and present rock, metal, punk and emo scene. The 2022 lineup will include headlining performances from punk rock icons Black Flag, legendary NY hardcore group Madball, emo rockers Secondhand Serenade and pop punk band Every Avenue plus more than 50 bands across two outdoor stages and one indoor stage over both days. Following each day of the festival, there will be an official afterparty indoors in collaboration with Come As You Are Events with guest DJ sets and surprise performances from musicians including Social Order, Chris Donothon (The Medic Droid), Alesana and Michael Vampire (Vampires Everywhere). The afterparties will be 21+ only and ticketed separately from the festival, $25 for a single night pass or $40 for both nights. Purchase admission for either and/or both nights HERE.

“Through the power of the internet, what started only as a humble meme has blossomed into such a beautiful lineup of artists both big and small,” says WENZ. “Defying even our own expectations, it has been a joy for us and the fans to watch the When We Were Hungry festival grow into a delicious piece of history!”

LEVY adds, “This festival is all about bringing people together–merging amazing legacy acts with the next generation. We quite literally went from a meme to a dream, and now an epic reality that is When We Were Hungry. This is our gift to you!”

“We are excited to be returning to Las Vegas to play the When We Were Hungry Festival at Rockstar Bar with Unwritten Law, The Dickies and so many more,” says MIKE VALLELY, vocalist of Black Flag. “We’ll be kicking off our 2022-2023 tour at this show, and I couldn’t think of a better way to get things started.”

Every Avenue lead vocalist and pianist David Strauchman commented, “It’s an honor to be invited to play the When We Were Hungry Fest and share the stage with so many amazing artists. Every Avenue hasn’t played a show on the West Coast since 2012, so needless to say I’m stoked to be asked to play these songs a decade later. The WWWH team has done an awesome job of bringing together a wildly diverse lineup that the fans are going to love. Can’t wait! It’s going to rock!”

HELLOGOODBYE vocalist Forrest Kline “When We Were Hungry has brought together a truly insane and sweeping lineup, including the first full band hellogoodbye set in Vegas in years. Cannot wait to let loose with y’all!”

“Looking at this killer line up, we’re not only craving to play in Vegas for the first time in over a decade, but also salivating at the thought of sharing the stage with all these amazing bands,” adds the Las Vegas-based pop rock band THE HIGHER’s guitarist Reggie Ragan. “It’s a feast fit for Vegas.”

The 2022 WHEN WE WERE HUNGRY FESTIVAL line-up (in alphabetical order) is as follows (as of 8/3/22): 408, Across The White Water Tower, Alesana, All At Once, Along Came A Spider, Anarbor, Artificial Aliens, Beyond Unbroken, Black Flag, Cloud Construction, College Radio, Doll Skin, Dropout Kings, Every Avenue, Eyes Set To Kill, FDS, Fight From Within, HELLOGOODBYE, Hope Dies Last, Madball, Makeout, Mark Rose (Spitalfield), Mest, Mighty Vices, Modern Day Escape, Obsolete Man, Original A.S.D., Osatia, Outsiders, Ovtlier.
