“‘Suspicious Minds’ (made famous by Elvis Presley) is very ‘Las Vegas’ and since we live here, where his legacy remains part of the city’s fabric, we knew we had to go for it! We gave it a modern rock n’ roll twist, and the sum of all parts resulted in this larger-than-life hard rock version,” says VELVET CHAINS founding member and bassist Nils Goldschmidt of their new single produced by Jim Kaufman (Danny Worsnop, Helmet, Return to Dust) and mixed by Dan Korneff (My Chemical Romance, Motionless In White, Pierce The Veil). “Suspicious Minds” is out now digitally. Stream/download it here: https://vyd.co/Suspiciousminds.

The unapologetically modern and electrifying rock band’s current single, the urgent “Stuck Against The Wall,” sees the band land their first-ever Top 40-charting rock radio single on both the Mediabase and Billboard Active Rock charts.

Having done dates with several of rock’s top acts such as Stone Temple Pilots, The Winery Dogs, and Saint Asonia, VELVET CHAINS will head to South America tonight, January 29, to kick off a jaunt as direct support for SLASH featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators. Find dates and ticket information HERE and listed below.

VELVET CHAINS is comprised of an international array of talented musicians with members from the US, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. Formed in 2021, they released their debut album Icarus that September which featured guest appearances from Guns N’ Roses’ guitarist Richard Fortus and Duff McKagan’s Loaded musicians Jeff Rouse (bass) and Mike Squires (guitar). They followed up with a six-track EP Morbid Dreams in 2022. After a refreshed lineup change, VELVET CHAINS released three new singles throughout 2023 with multiple top-charting producers: “I Am The Ocean, produced by Kellen McGregor (Memphis May Fire), “Eyes Closed,” produced by Heavy, and their current radio single “Stuck Against The Wall,” produced by Erik Ron (Staind, Bush, Godsmack).

VELVET CHAINS
TODAY SHARE NEW SINGLE “TIME STOOD STILL”
AND ANNOUNCE NEW SIX-SONG EP
‘MORBID DREAMS’
OUT OCTOBER 21

LISTEN HERE TO “TIME STOOD STILL”

VELVET CHAINS today (October 19) have shared their new song “Time Stood Still” and announced the Friday, October 21 release of the six-song EP MORBID DREAMS. Listen to the song–a heavy ballad with the dark stylings that Las Vegas-based hard rock band is becoming known for—HERE.

“Time Stood Still” was produced, mixed & mastered by Grammy Award-nominated and Juno Award-winning producer Kane Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Skillet) and recorded at The Hideout Recording in the band’s Vegas hometown. Co-written by multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Lindsey Stirling, Christina Perri) and the band’s bassist/founder Nils Goldschmidt, “Time Stood Still” starts and ends tensely with eerie guitar sounds and possesses an explosive chorus with full-on guitar crunch and searing vocals by frontman Ro Viper, who sings, “I’ve been going down the darkest path.”

In addition to “Time Stood Still,” MORBID DREAMS features new songs “Hiding From Stars” and “Fade Away” alongside the previously released singles/videos “Last Drop” (launched by AntiMusic), “Can’t Win” outlet Terra) and “Back On The Train,” debuted by MXDWN which took note of the band’s “thunderous riffs, melodious guitars…[and] booming vocals.”

VELVET CHAINS—consisting of founder Nils Goldschmidt (bass), Brazilian brothers Laurent (lead guitar) and Larry (rhythm guitar) Cassiano, drummer Jason Hope and Chilean-bred lead singer Ro Viper—decided to issue this EP now instead of waiting to release a previously announced second album for next year. “We’re proud of these six songs and wanted to get them out there now,” says Nils. “At the same time, we’re excited about the band’s growth and evolution. We want to fully capture that in the studio with the next batch of songs.”

Armed with heavy riffs, melodic guitars, soaring vocals and driving rhythms, VELVET CHAINS performed this past summer at Rock Fest (Cadott, WI) and Blue Ridge Rock Fest (Alton, VA). They’ve also opened twice for Todd Kerns (Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Age of Electric) at Count’s Vamp’d in Vegas and have an ongoing Vegas residency at The Barbershop (The Cosmopolitan).

VELVET CHAINS will release their third single, “Can’t Win,” across digital platforms this Friday, September 16. Taken from the Las Vegas-based hard rock group’s second full-length album due out next year, the track possesses a musically dark feel and moody introspective lyrics. The band–consisting of founder Nils Goldschmidt (bass), Brazilian brothers Laurent (lead guitar) and Larry (rhythm guitar) Cassiano, drummer Jason Hope and Chilean-bred lead singer Ro Viper— yesterday, September 14, revealed a first glimpse of the “Can’t Win” music video with a premiere highlighting their cultural diversity and international appeal via the Brazil-based media outlet Terra.

Can’t Win” was recorded at Hideout Recording Studio in the band’s Vegas hometown with Grammy Award-nominated and Juno Award-winning producer Kane Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Skillet) and was co-written by founding member/bassist NILS GOLDSCHMIDT and multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence. Its music video was shot at various locations across Vegas with director Brian Cox (Bring Me The Horizon, Hollywood Undead, The Used), who also lensed the video for VELVET CHAINS’Last Drop,” the first single from the upcoming album, which premiered via AntiMusic.

“We filmed the video all around Vegas, says NILS, “including a house with a cool bar, downtown Vegas, a random studio in North Vegas, the middle of the desert, etc. Director Brian Cox used a drone for the pool scene, which was interesting to shoot since our lead singer Ro had some trouble floating.” NILS adds: “The song’s lyrics are pretty ominous, but I think you’ll find an element of hope in there, too. ‘When guilt turns into sin, grief eats away my soul, when I know that I can’t win’ is a key line from the chorus of the song, based on the feeling of constantly failing. The video reflects these emotions with scenes showing defeat and despair. There’s also a tip of the hat in there to Soundgarden, a band we all love, with the line, ‘Like a black hole sun I shine.’”

Watch “Can’t Win” streaming below or directly on YouTube HERE.

VELVET CHAINS will celebrate the release of “Can’t Win” with an opening performance for Todd Kerns (Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Age of Electric) on its release date, September 16 at Count’s Vamp’d in Vegas. The band will play their new songs including their second single “Back On The Train,” released August 12. MXDWN premiered its Dean Karr (Ozzy Osbourne, Velvet Revolver)-directed music video as being “armed with thunderous riffs, melodious guitars…[and] booming vocals.” CHAINS have been seen performing on the summer’s rock festival circuit including appearances at Rock Fest (Cadott, WI) and Blue Ridge Rock Fest (Alton, VA) and have an ongoing Vegas residency at The Barbershop (The Cosmopolitan).

Coming off their most recent single/video “Last Drop,” VELVET CHAINS are sharing more new music from their second as-yet-untitled full-length album (due in October) with the hard-hitting track “Back On The Train,” out digitally August 12. The Las Vegas hard rock outfit collaborated with award-winning director Dean Karr (Ozzy Osbourne, Velvet Revolver) for the song’s hauntingly twisted music video and acclaimed artist Tim LeNoir (Guns N’ Roses, Rolling Stones) for the cover artwork (seen above). The video premiered yesterday (August 10) via MXDWN who described the song as being “armed with thunderous riffs, melodious guitars…[and] booming vocals.”

Watch “Back On The Train,” streaming below or directly HERE followed by a Q&A with founding member & bassist Nils Goldschmidt.

Back on The Train” is sonically inspired by one of the band’s primary influences, Velvet Revolver, and lyrically explores romantic desire, seduction and obsession. The track’s

heavy riffs, melodic guitars, soaring vocals and driving rhythms were captured at Monster Sound and Picture in Vegas with producers Darren Trentacoste and James Boldt and sent for mixing and mastering by Tristan Hardin (The Hideout Studio). It was written by Goldschmidt and the band’s drummer Jason Hope along with multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Lindsey Stirling, Christina Perri).

With a refreshed lineup consisting of Nils Goldschmidt (bass), Brazilian brothers Laurent (lead guitar) and Larry (rhythm guitar) Cassiano, drummer Jason Hope and Chilean-bred lead singer Ro Viper, VELVET CHAINS will bring their new music to audiences at Blue Ridge Rock Fest (Alton, VA) on September 1. They also performed this past July at Rock Fest (Caddott, WI) and opened in June for Todd Kerns (Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Age of Electric) at Count’s Vamp’d in Vegas. Look for VELVET CHAINS to support Kerns again at Count’s Vamp’d on Friday, September 16 and catch them in Vegas weekly on Monday’s beginning on August 29 at The Barbershop speakeasy at The Cosmopolitan.

Q&A on “BACK ON THE TRAIN” with NILS GOLDSCHMIDT

Having worked with Dean Karr on your previous album for the single ‘Tattooed” can you share what factors drew you to return to him for the new album and why specifically you chose to have him do a video for “Back On The Train”?

“Dean is not only a legend in the industry but also a music video visionary. He always knows what’s best for the specific song he’s working on and is always able to get the best out of each band he works with. We gave him a few options of songs, and naturally Dean being a true rock n’ roll fan, he went with the fastest, most energetic, authentic rock song we had at the time. We’re happy that he chose this song because it has a Velvet Revolver hard rock style to it, a band Dean has worked with several times, hence this was right up his alley. The resulting video was just insane.”

Where was the video filmed at and how did you use the locations to add into the dark theme of “Back On The Train”?

“We filmed the video at a creepy house located in the outskirts of LA. It seemed like it was a relatively new location and the only other band that had filmed a music video there the week prior was Paramore. Each room in the house had its own tone of creepiness to it, which worked wonders for the video.”

Can you talk us through the writing process for “Back On The Train”? What inspired the lyrics?

“Initially I, founder/bassist, and multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Christina Perry, Lindsey Stirling) got together and came up with the main riffs, chorus, etc. for the song and put together a demo with just mumbled words. Our drummer Jason Hope wrote the lyrics to the song. His inspiration for lyrics came from relationship dynamics and when people have moved on to being single, and once again ‘back on the train’ looking for new potential love (or lust) interests.”

“Back On The Train” has a tense and fast-paced rhythm that brings to mind Velvet Revolver. Can you tell us about that?

“Velvet Revolver is one of our biggest influences and while we never set out to write a song that sounds like a band that we love, it’s inevitable that every now and then you’ll be able to hear some of them in our music. We love the fast pace, in your face, hard rock that Velvet Revolver represents, and we’re proud that ‘Back On The Train’ fits that bill.”

Armed with heavy riffs, melodic guitars, soaring vocals and driving rhythms, VELVET CHAINS is a Las Vegas-based hard rock band that offers a modern take on their 90s & 00s influences with darkly themed songs. The quintet have shared a new single and music video, “Last Drop,” for the debut track from their as-yet-untitled second album due out this October. “Last Drop” will be released across all digital platforms tomorrow Friday, July 8 and its music video—directed by Brian Cox (The Used, Bring Me the Horizon, Hollywood Undead)—premiered yesterday via AntiMusic. The track was recorded in their hometown at Hideout Recording Studio with Grammy Award-nominated and Juno Award-winning producer Kane Churko (Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Skillet) who also co-wrote the song with VELVET CHAINS bassist NILS GOLDSCHMIDT and multi-platinum songwriter Drew Lawrence (Lindsey Stirling, Christina Perri). Watch it streaming below.

“‘Last Drop’ is about a toxic relationship between a guy and a girl, where the guy is being ‘drained ‘til the last drop,’ yet he’s addicted to it and can’t stop,” reveals NILS GOLDSCHMIDT. “He almost doesn’t even realize he’s in an abusive relationship/situation. It’s a mix of self-sabotage and self-indulgence.”

“Despite the dark subject matter, ‘Last Drop’ may prove the perfect remedy for the 2022 summer blues,” says Keavin Wiggins, editor of AntiMusic, adding that it “delivers a chorus that has the makings of a huge rock radio hit.”

VELVET CHAINS was formed in 2018 by Goldschmidt and self-released their debut album ICARUS in 2021 which V13 described as “a ten-song journey through the best of heavy rock, grunge, and punk.” The album featured guest appearances from Guns’ N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus as well as Jeff Rouse and Mike Squires of Duff McKagan’s LOADED.

With a refreshed lineup consisting of Nils Goldschmidt (bass), Brazilian brothers Laurent (lead guitar) and Larry (rhythm guitar) Cassiano, drummer Jason Hope and Chilean-bred lead singer Ro Viper, VELVET CHAINS will bring their spirited live performance to audiences at Rockfest in Cadott, WI on Saturday, July 16 and Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Danville, VA on September 11. The band were recently seen in Vegas opening for Todd Kerns (Slash Feat. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, The Age of Electric).
