FINGER ELEVEN (@finger_eleven) one of the best-selling Canadian bands of all time, are experiencing a vibrant, full circle moment. The multi-platinum Juno Award-winning group—Scott Anderson (vocals), James Black (lead guitar, backing vocals), Rick Jackett (rhythm guitar), Sean Anderson (bass), Steve Molella (drums)—criss-crossed America last summer with long-time former labelmates Creed, revisiting the summer of ‘99. “People were just smiling the whole time—it was contagious,” guitarist Rick Jackett declares. “We forgot we had so many friends in America. That was a cool feeling.”

That infectious, invigorating energy helped FINGER ELEVEN enthusiastically complete their first new studio album in a decade, LAST NIGHT ON EARTH, primed for a November 7 release via Better Noise Music, their first with the label. Pre-orders are available now HERE. Today (August 1), they’ve released the album’s second single and video, the thunderous “Blue Sky Mystery” featuring Richard Patrick from Filter. Vocalist Scott Anderson notes that the chorus had a heavy Black Sabbath vibe, and the band maintained that throughout the song’s evolution even as the verses underwent a larger transformation. Changes even came in at the eleventh hour of mixing, but they got the song they wanted. He wrote lyrics for “Blue Sky Mystery” about burrowing into the rabbit hole of a deep obsession. “The more it’s in front of you, the less you understand it, the more you’re obsessed with it,” he says. “You can’t get your mind around it, or away from it.”

“‘Blue Sky Mystery’ was originally called ‘10 Ton Saber,’” as guitarist James Black recalls. “I just pictured some guy in Star Wars with an enormous, bazooka-sized lightsaber.”

“Working with Scott, James, Rick, Sean and Steve could not have gone smoother. They are good guys and total pros,” says Filter singer Richard Patrick. “Coincidentally, Filter is also celebrating its 30th Anniversary and we’ve never had the opportunity to work with FINGER ELEVEN before, save for an appearance at a festival together somewhere. Recording ‘Blue Sky Mystery’ was a lot of fun.”

Last year, fans got the first taste of LAST NIGHT ON EARTH via the high-octane “Adrenaline” (which reached the Top 20 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart) and a video that’s reached over 176k views on YouTube. The song also reached #2 on the Active Rock chart in Canada, where the song held strong in the Top 5 for over 4 months and is still inside the Top 20 one year after release. “As we were making LAST NIGHT ON EARTH, there was this feeling that we were making a big rock record,” guitarist Rick Jackett recalls. “We had done that early in our career, and then we veered away from it. But it was time to go back and embrace that bigness of the sound. Even the soft songs sound big.”

FINGER ELEVEN have always amalgamated their musical influences from the 1960s forward into their rock mix. They acknowledge that Phil Collins and Genesis were a big melodic influence on LAST NIGHT ON EARTH. And the new tunes explore time-honored FINGER ELEVEN concepts with fresh twists. While “Adrenaline” is a rousing, intense anthem about pushing forward against adversity, “Blue Sky Mystery” is another hard-hitting rocker about being beguiled by something just out of reach. Further into the album, “The Mountain” rides musical peaks and valleys in its quest to chase the song, about the creative process expressed in a fantasy setting. Then there is the acoustic number “Last Night On Earth,” which tackles relationship turmoil. It’s the most personal new track for frontman Scott Anderson.

Originally from Burlington, Ontario and now based mostly out of Toronto, FINGER ELEVEN have released a series of consecutive hit albums and become among the greatest live bands to ever emerge from the great White North. Their self-titled debut album broke the band into the international mainstream, achieving Gold status in the United States and Platinum in Canada, and smashing the first single “One Thing,” across the radio and Billboard charts. Their 2007 album, THEM VS. YOU VS. ME, launched the single “Paralyzer,” setting radio records in the U.S., peaking at #1 internationally and going 5x Platinum, the band’s second million-plus seller. They won the Juno Award for Rock Album the following year and set an incredible run at rock radio, with an unbeaten #14 weeks at the top spot. Joe Lano, a world-class guitarist, arranger, and composer, has been a cornerstone of the Las Vegas and West Coast music scene for over 50 years. Since moving to Las Vegas in 1964, Joe has performed with nearly every major act in show business, including legends like Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Steve Lawrence. As a student of the renowned Dennis Sandole—John Coltrane’s teacher—Joe blends technical mastery with deep, creative musicality.

Joining him are: Jess Gopen – Berklee College of Music graduate and dynamic drummer with a wide range of professional credits; Jeff Davis – Accomplished bassist and UNLV Jazz Studies alumnus known for his smooth, intuitive playing, and Etsuko Mader – Pianist, composer, arranger, and educator whose artistry adds a brilliant new layer to the group’s celebrated sound.

About the STRAY CATS:

The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early ’80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950’s style brought “up to date” with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly’s original heyday. The BLACKOUT album was an important statement for FROM ASHES TO NEW, acting as a prequel to the band’s 2016 debut album DAY ONE. “We can finally announce that our 11th studio album LEGENDS is coming out on October 17th!” says bassist Pär Sundström. “11 tracks that cover 11 iconic legendary stories. This time we look further back in history than we have been the past few years, going to times that I think are very exciting. As someone who’s always been into the history of the Middle Ages, knights and the legends of old, it felt incredible to finally bring those stories into the SABATON universe.”

“Music collectors will be happy to hear that you are now able to pre-order our LEGENDS album in all formats imaginable, including digital, CD, vinyl and a cassette tape that will be featured in a box set,” says singer Joakim Brodén. “Apart from the usual suspects, there are multiple cool editions available, and we have a bunch of cool vinyls, each corresponding to a legend.”

Bassist Pär Sundström continues, “We’re all about telling stories through our songs, so we thought, why not do the same with our vinyls? Instead of just making them a cool color, we wanted them to actually tell a story too. That’s why we decided to name them after the legendary figures featured on the album. It just felt like the perfect way to make them more special. We hope all the physical music collectors out there love the concept! We took the idea from the community and tweaked it ourselves!”

SABATON have always had a signature focus on writing songs about historical battles, wars, and acts of heroism that have solidified their impact with their loyal and longtime fans. They’ve collaborated closely with its network of specialists, developed over the years since the launch of the Sabaton History Channel on YouTube, to make sure this new album is once again as close to reality as possible.

Joakim Brodén continues, “Legends have always been woven into our music, and the HEROES album is the perfect example of that! I’m incredibly proud of HEROES and everything it stands for, so LEGENDS is just a natural next step. It’s like the story continues but goes way back in time. We’re excited to finally be taking our listeners on a new journey! Here’s to another chapter in Sabaton’s story!”

They continue to work with graphic artist Peter Sallai to create the striking album artwork, and producer Jonas Kjellgren is once again behind the boards from his Swedish Black Lounge Studios to create the classic SABATON sound the band is now known for.

Two songs have already been released from LEGENDS: “Hordes of Khan” (June 6) and “Templars” (April 25):

ABOUT EVAN CYOTE

Born and raised in North Florida, Evan grew up devoting her life to competing and training ranch horses. After moving to Nashville in 2022 to try her hand in the music industry, she quickly realized this was the business for her. ABOUT BRODIE STEWART

Brodie Stewart grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento and spent his summers in Red Bluff, California. At a young age, his favorite things to do were going to the rodeo, listening to country music, singing and playing guitar. Soon enough, Brodie formed and fronted a southern rock band and had the good fortune of touring the country opening up for big artists in front of sold-out arenas. His band even charted on Billboard.

With his southern rock roots, Brodie returned to what he loved the most, “country music.” While writing songs for his own album, Brodie also wrote and produced songs for various other artists, such as “Sweet Isabel”, recorded by Enrique Iglesias for his (Interscope Records) release entitled “Insomniac”. Shortly after placing Sweet Isabel with Enrique, Martin Kierszenbaum (President of Cherrytree/Interscope Records) signed Brodie to a song/production deal with the label. Quickly following, Brodie signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Publishing. Since that time, Brodie has written and produced several tracks for various artists.

Currently, 100% of Brodie’s attention is on his Country music endeavors. On his debut album “Born American”, Brodie teamed up with guitarist/producer/songwriter “Adam Shoenfeld” (Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Jake Owen, Big and Rich, Florida Georgia Line and many more) to co-produce and play on the album along with several top players, including working with one great engineer, Aaron Chmielewski in Nashville. In addition to gearing up promotion for his “Debut Album”, Brodie’s “high octane show” has been touring the West Coast.

When asked about his “Debut Album”, Brodie states, “I’ve found my place in Country Music where my heart has always been. The great lyrics, honesty, passion and one kick *** party is what it’s all about!”
