“Crashed-out, thinkin’ bout the things you said
I woke up dead, I woke up dead
Freight train, runaway inside my head
I woke up dead, I woke up dead”
–“Woke Up Dead,” THE BONES

THE BONES, fronted by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Patrick Vitagliano, have followed up their previous track My Kind of Crazy (Feat. Phil X)with today’s (May 1) release of “Woke Up Dead.” With thunderous guitars, snarling vocals, and a dirty glam-rock feel, the song may be the Las Vegas-based hard rock/punk band’s most lethal offering yet. The vivid lyrics mince no words about someone who is “artfully adept at using her words as a weapon,” says Vitagliano. “And let’s face it, we’ve all known many people like that throughout our lives, but I just sort of rolled all those people up into one single verbal, super villain, because it made for a good story.” Listen to the track HERE and watch the video HERE.

“Woke Up Dead” was written by Vitagliano who also co-produced the track with Vinnie Castaldo. It was recorded in Las Vegas at The Tone Factory. A Q&A about the song follows below.

THE BONES—singer/guitarist Patrick Vitagliano (Nuclear Theory/Nuclear Assault spinoff with John Connelly), guitarist Jeff Duncan (Armored Saint/Odin), bassist Sean Koos (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts), and drummer Daniel Margasa (Pat Travers/Rock Godz Hall of Fame)—have four full-length original albums under their belt including Circle in 2024. They are preently recording of a new album.

On the live front, THE BONES will perform May 16 at the Dive Bar and June 26 at the Copa Room inside the Tuscany. They’ll also open the “Totally ‘80s Pool Party Concert” at The STRAT on June 6, joining Bow Wow Wow, Naked Eyes, Prescott Niles’ The Knack, and Missing Persons. THE BONES will play a set of ‘80s covers including ones from their two punked-up covers albums, Ruin Your Rock Show, Live! (2015) and Ruin Your Rockshow, Vol II: Live From the Apocalypse! (2020).

Q&A with Patrick Vitagliano of THE BONES
About “Woke Up Dead”

“Woke Up Dead” has a big, thunderous sound that draws on your hard rock and punk influences, with a killer chorus. Can you talk about the song’s sonics?

Yeah, this one is kinda like a sleazy-rockabilly/glam. So in addition to the usual, straight-up, Bones guitar grind, there’s also piano in there, a pedal-steel that we ran through a ratty, vintage, tube-screamer….and the guitar solo has a real Nashville style to it but with the usual Bones-snarl. The vocals sorta ride the line between that, and Marc Bolan [T. Rex] though, who I greatly admire for his glam sensibility and imagery. I feel like this one is pretty tasty.

Vinnie Castaldo and you co-produced the track. Can you talk about working with Vinnie?

Vin and I have done six albums together now, and we’re somewhat in lock-step with each other when it comes to mix decisions. I’ll make a suggestion, only to find he’s already making that very edit. It’s gotten to where we get in a work groove and almost don’t have to speak…we just do.

The song has strong lyrics, starting with the “I woke up dead” theme and including lines like “You’re a total electric/An icepick in lipstick/Yeah, and you cut so deep.” What lyrically inspired the song’s sentiment?

So that’s a funny story about a very unfunny story…
My friend Brian was talking about this friend of his, who actually had a child pass away in his sleep, out of the fucking blue! Just awful.
Anyway, I asked… Was he sick?
No.
Were there any warning signs whatsoever??
No.
So he just… Woke up dead???
And Brian said… No, you idiot, he didn’t wake up at all. He was fucking dead!!
We laughed for a very long time about my inability to grasp the situation, but the phrase really stuck with me.
It resonated, like an earworm, so much that I eventually found myself singing it.

Do you know people who embody lines like these?

“Tongue like a razor, disciples, they praise ya
High atop your velvet throne
The ego you’re feedin’, you laugh while I’m bleedin’
You wear it like cheap cologne”

This one is pure fiction. The antagonist is essentially a woman who is artfully adept at using her words as a weapon. And let’s face it, we’ve all known many people like that throughout our lives, but I just sort of rolled all those people up into one single verbal, super villain, because it made for a good story. Beyond that, though, I find using words to evoke emotion, any emotion, incredibly fascinating.

They can bring us incredible joy, and heartbreaking pain.

They can cause us to act or rally us to support a cause.

They can cause us to worship and adore or loathe and even hate.

They can drive someone to euphoria or even drive some people to suicide. Think about that for a second….how fucking powerful is that?!?

They can paint vivid pictures of lush fantasy, or nightmarishly bleak dystopia, and you will see and feel it through the right combination of 26 letters.

As a lyricist, they are just as powerful and instrument as a classical master pouring out their soul on a Stradivarius.

Your voice is a particularly sriking instrument. Who are your biggest influences?

As a vocalist, I could name you an endless list of singers I admire, but I can’t call them influences, because my range is so limited that I barely consider myself a vocalist. That said, I have learned to work within my limitations, to do the most with the least.

But if you are asking for an influence, whenever I sing a line, I always ask myself… What would Mike Ness [of Social Distortion] do?

What’s next for The Bones?

A few things actually. We are obviously working on new material, which will eventually be part of a new full-length Bones album, but will likely start out as Bonus-Tracks on a “Greatest Hits” Double-Vinyl release, later this year, though I feel self-conscious using that term, when “Least Worst-of” fits better 😉

But we’re also doing something completely experimental. We’re re-imagining/re-recording an entire album’s worth of Bones tunes as country-songs and using it to launch an alter-ego live project to perform this reimagined material, along with other classics that span the classic to modern country genre. We’re calling that project “Paper Cowboy.” It’s in its infancy right now, but we’re pretty excited about it. It will be me, with some other exciting Las Vegas players and we’ll probably soft-launch it in the next few weeks, so stay tuned…

Singer, songwriter, and frontman FRANKY PEREZ, acclaimed for his powerhouse voice, magnetic stage presence, and genre-blending artistry, and THE ALL NIGHTERS have announced the end of their weekly residency at Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce inside Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and updated fans about what’s on the horizon. The group, who began their residency at the club this past February, will perform their final show there tonight (April 30).

They released the following statement today:

“The All Nighters and I are incredibly grateful for the successful residency we built at Forty Deuce at Mandalay Bay, and we want to thank MGM Properties and Ivan Kane for hosting our show. We love the room, and look forward to returning in the future, but at this time we’ve decided not to renew the residency.

Momentum continues to build for FP&TAN. The video for “Mad World” has surpassed 2 million streams and continues to climb, our new album Dámelo is reaching new milestones every day, and I recently had an unforgettable appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with an invitation to return for a full week.

We’ve got something big coming. Stay tuned for a major announcement in the weeks ahead!

With love,
Franky Perez & The All Nighters”

The Las Vegas born-and-raised PEREZ enters a bold new era with DÁMELO, a celebration of his cultural roots and musical evolution. It was released April 17 via The Label Group/Virgin Music Group. Written, performed, and produced by PEREZ and shaped under the guidance of multi–Latin Grammy winner Sebastian Krys, DÁMELO blends Latin rhythms, timeless pop, and raw storytelling into a powerful musical bridge between cultures. Robby Krieger & The Soul Savages—led by the iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist and songwriter, Robby Krieger of The Doors—will return by popular demand to perform Friday, June 12 at 7:30pm at the COPA ROOM inside Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas. This news follows the band’s sold-out show there this past Friday night (April 24). Expect them to again take the audience on a unique voyage of melodic and psychedelic rock and soul in this intimate room with a big sound. Tickets, priced at $40 Early Bird / $45 GA, are on sale now HERE. Self-parking and valet parking at Tuscany are always complimentary. A full-service bar is available with well drinks priced at $10-12 and beers between $5-7. There are also $5 well vodka and tequila drinks available.

With their own signature sound, Robby Krieger & The Soul Savages have the courage and ability to step over the boundaries of sophisticated music. They released their acclaimed self-titled debut album in January 2024. The 10-song album includes “Ricochet Rabbit.” Watch the video HERE.

No one plays guitar like Robby Krieger. His sound is immediately recognizable by way of his sans pick finger style, his melodic approach to the electric guitar, and his adventurous jazzy slide offerings. The multiple Grammy Award recipient has also enjoyed success as a jazz-fusion guitarist, recording many solo albums since the late 70’s including the Grammy-nominated album Singularity (2010).

Krieger and The Soul Savages’ Bassist/Songwriter Kevin “Brandino” Brandon co-wrote and recorded with Robby on his Singularity album. The top session bassist has won over half a dozen Grammy Awards as well as three Emmy Awards. His huge list of credits includes James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, and Beyonce. A veteran from the school of funk and jazz, Kevin is known for building a rock-solid foundation with his creative bass lines.

Meeting many years ago, on stage at the Wiltern Theatre, Keyboardist/Songwriter Ed Roth and Robby Krieger have been musically inseparable ever since. Exclusively preferring vintage organs and vintage keyboards for his work, the Grammy nominee’s playing cuts across styles and genres as he masterfully executes jazz, rock, and pop. As a session player, Roth has worked with twelve Grammy winners including Ringo Starr, Brothers Johnson, Coolio, Shuggie Otis, and Annie Lennox. His Billboard top 100 jazz song of the year, “Blue,” has been streamed more than a million times.

Krieger & The Soul Savages’ dynamic rhythm and youthful energy is provided by Drummer/Songwriter Franklin Vanderbilt. His previous musical credits include working with twenty-two-time Grammy winner Stevie Wonder, drumming for legendary Chaka Khan, recording with fusion jazz pioneer Stanley Clarke and touring worldwide with Lenny Kravitz. Vanderbilt’s drumming cements the band’s deep grooves and brings savage to the soul.

TO AUCTION CUSTOM ONE-OF-A-KIND DRUM KIT
AFTER REVEALING CANCER JOURNEY

Download HERE

As Coal Chamber gets ready to hit the stage as part of the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, NV tomorrow (Saturday, April 25), Coal Chamber drummer Mikey “Bug” Cox is today making his own personal revelation that he has been fighting–and winning—a battle with cancer. As a result of his recovery, he is proud to announce his partnership with Fxck Cancer to hold a special auction of a custom one-of-a-kind drum kit from ddrum with proceeds going to cancer support and research.

Please click this link for more information or to donate: Coal Chamber drum kit giveaway for charity | Fxck Cancer.

Here’s a statement from Mikey “Bug” Cox:

“GRATITUDE. It’s a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it hits differently for me these days.

April 1, 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. I’m not unique. It feels like a lot of us are dealing with this or know someone who is. It’s dark, it’s scary, and it changes the lives of everyone in its orbit.

The first thing I said to my wife was that I was going to fight with everything I had for my family! There were a lot of days I couldn’t make it out of bed, but I didn’t want cancer to define me. So, I finished building the house I was working on with my Bash Construction Group company, and I wrote some of the best music of my life!  After a yearlong battle and absolutely brutal rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and eventually surgery, I’m so grateful to be able to say I made it to CANCER FREE.

The second thing I said to myself was that I wanted to create something positive out of this situation, and that’s where we are today. I hope you’ll join me as I partner with Fxck Cancer to auction off a custom, one-of-a-kind drum kit from ddrum, Scorpion Percussion, TRX Cymbals, and Gator Cases with proceeds to bring awareness, support and resources to those who may find themselves in this unpredictable and unwanted community of warriors.

I’ll have so many people to thank and share my story with in the coming days, and I will be highlighting some of the amazing people and organizations that are working with us to make this goal of mine a reality.

Today I celebrate life, healing, and the strength it takes to survive. 💛 I cannot wait to get back on stage post-cancer. These upcoming shows are going to be something truly special.

I chose to partner with Fxck Cancer, because of its bold, direct approach to a disease. Their work breaks stigma, encourages honest conversations, and promotes early detection in a way that resonates—especially with younger audiences and the music community. Its unapologetic voice makes the message feel urgent, relatable and empowering, helping people face cancer head-on instead of avoiding it.”

Modern rock band CRASHING WAYWARD hold nothing back in “Bullet For A Heart,” a track bursting with raging guitars, razor-sharp vocals, and an unflinching worldview that rails against hate and violence. Today (April 22), they’ve released the song’s video, for which they went all-in. At a soundstage in their Las Vegas hometown, they filmed the video with water pouring all over them to illustrate the song’s key lyrics: “Save me/Save yourself/Shower with the bullets full of heart/Lay it down/Lay your weapons down/Shower with the bullets full of heart.” Watch the video HERE, listen to track HERE, and see their tour dates below.

“When the shoot was planned,” says lead singer Peter Summit, “we had spoken of shooting in front of the rain only looking as if we were getting wet, but decided there was no way we were going to phone in this performance. So we all got in the water and delivered a performance that we only know how to do. The rain falling off us illuminated that energy and although it was a very cold night shot two days before our Pacific Northwest tour in February, we took this risk to make sure we captured the song’s true emotion and raw power.” Read a Q&A with Summit and guitarist David Harris below.

The previously released track was rebooted with Harris’ meatier new guitar parts and a sharper mix by producer Shawn McGhee (Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Strung Out, Dark Chapel), with mastering done by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic SoundIt will appear on CRASHING WAYWARD’s forthcoming six-song EP The Fight Within, out in the third quarter of 2026 on Golden Robot Records (exact release date TBA) and promises a kaleidoscopic journey through modern rock’s emotional extremes.

The EP will also include the band’s previous single “Holding For Dear Life,” hailed by the UK’s Classic Rock magazine as a “tight, groovy beefcake of a song… manages to be fiery, introspective and energizing at once– the sort of brooding intensity you can dance to.“ (March 16,2026) The song was picked by readers as “Track of the Week.” Watch the video HERE and listen to the track HERE.

The Fight Within is an electrifying and introspective release that showcases CRASHING WAYWARD—Peter Summit (lead vocals), David Harris (lead guitar), Carl Raether (bass), Tucker Jones (guitar), and Jon Gunder (drums)—at their most confident and compelling. Across the EP the band deliver top-shelf songs that, in their own words, “speak a lot about life as we know it, reflecting outward to inward.”

Q&A ABOUT “BULLET FOR A HEART”
WITH PETER SUMMIT AND DAVID HARRIS

Congrats on this new version of the song. Sonically, can you describe what the band wanted to achieve with this new version?

SUMMIT: We have been very focused on delivering each song from “The Fight Within” EP, that captures the band at its purest and want each song to sound as we went directly from stage to record. This song I was the most excited about being back in the studio with Dave working out all the guitars. He has given a performance that is truly raw emotion with a force. He has always been an advocate for “Less is more” and this song is a testament to that. We have been very fortunate to revisit this song and re-work it in a way that we felt was missed in its original release. It was missing the angst and drive that was intended when Dave, Carl and I wrote it at my house. It was written with the three of us in a room working out its melodies and structure, something we had never done before when writing together. We wanted something that hit hard like “She Builds Quick Machines” by Velvet Revolver. This is how the band performs live and thankfully we have been able to have a second chance with this song and give it the proper release it deserves.

Lyrically, the song is compelling—a very positive statement about people needing to rise above a hateful and violent world. What inspired you to write it? Particularly these lines: “Kill the buzz/Running through your once gifted tongue/Lashing out with all its false beliefs now.”

SUMMIT: I always try to leave the lyrics open to interpretation with some ambiguity, but I felt this was a message that needed to be addressed. Without naming who, I wrote this in response to a very high-profile personality who had been very open and vocal with their hate rhetoric. The last thing we need in this unquestionably polarizing world is more hate. Especially from someone who is in a position of influence to their millions of fans and followers. I was intending for the song to speak about taking action and accountability in how we address and treat each other, no matter your race, religion, gender or sexual preference. Words can be weaponized as we all see it, especially today. I wanted to make the “Bullet” represent something for good like it says in the first line of the song, “Feed the love, with the bullets full of heart.”

The video is mysterious-looking and captivating. Can you describe the video shoot, where it was shot, and how you feel it illuminates the emotional heart of the song?

SUMMIT: We are a band of many influences, which I believe has worked in our favor. When we have an opportunity to pay homage to an artist that has inspired us, I want to pay tribute to that. I have been a huge longtime fan of The Psychedelic Furs and their video for “Heaven” is one of my all-time favorites. They are performing in the rain in the freezing cold and it captured the beauty of the song perfectly. I brought the rain inspired idea to Shane O’Neal at SON Studios here in Las Vegas and told him we wanted a high energy “in your face” version of this. The rain was the perfect symbolic metaphor speaking to the lyrics of the song. “Shower, with the bullets full of heart.” When we were planning the shoot, we had spoken of shooting in front of the rain only looking as if we were getting wet, but decided there was no way we were going to phone in this performance. So we all got in the water and delivered a performance that we only know how to do. The rain falling off us illuminated that energy and although it was a very cold night shot two days before our Pacific Northwest tour in February, we took this risk to make sure we captured the songs true emotion and raw power.

The new version of the song was produced by Shawn McGhee and you. Right away, the guitars are meatier, which definitely increases the song’s thrust, and the mix/master is sharper. Can you talk about that?

HARRIS: I wanted to bring the song closer to what I originally heard in my head when Pete, Carl, and I first wrote it at Peter’s house. It was important to capture more of the band’s natural energy—the kind of rawness we bring to a live setting. We opened up the verses a bit so the track has more space to breathe, which makes the chorus land with greater impact. Shawn did a fantastic job emphasizing those dynamics in the mix, and Pete Lyman, along with his team at Infrasonic Sound, delivered a master that feels both powerful and refined without sacrificing the edge.

How would you describe the band’s musical mission? There are many influences (alternative, hard rock, post-punk, and metal) that are excitingly fused on this song.

HARRIS: At its core, our mission is simply to write great songs. The influences are all there—they’re part of who we are—but they’re never the focus. It always comes back to the song itself. If it’s honest and it connects, then it’s done its job. That’s what gives music longevity.

The video is eye-popping—with the rain effect. What was it like to shoot the video and were there any challenges?

HARRIS: It was a great experience—our first proper night shoot, which added a whole new atmosphere to the performance. Shane and Dee brought a strong creative vision from Pete’s original idea and made the process feel very natural. The only real challenge for me was trying to keep my Gretsch White Falcon from taking too much of a beating in the rain. It’s a special guitar to me, and not one you want to put at risk lightly—but sometimes those elements are exactly what help bring the visual to life.

ABOUT CRASHING WAYWARD

CRASHING WAYWARD came together in 2020 with a shared urgency to create something real. Comprised of members Peter Summit (vocals), David Harris (Guitar), Carl Raether (Bass), Tucker Jones (Guitar) and Jon Gunder (Drums), their debut album, ‘LISTEN!’, blends modern rock with sharp songwriting and a punch of emotion, capturing the tension and release of a world in lockdown. The lead single ‘Breathe’ picked up traction fast, landing on major playlists and modern rock radio across the U.S. and Canada. Produced by Mike Gillies (Metallica, The Cult), the album introduced a band with something to say, and the sound to back it up.

Recently in the studio with producer Shawn McGhee (Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Strung Out, Dark Chapel), CRASHING WAYWARD is sharpening their sound with a heavier, more direct edge. They’re touring nationally, releasing new music consistently, and gearing up for a high-profile first tour of 2026. Backed by a live show that hits with both intensity and connection, the band is building something bigger, loud, raw, and fully in tune with a new wave of modern rock fans.
