HOLLYWOOD, CA — Dirty rock n’ roll is alive and kicking, and BLACKLIST UNION has lit the fuse by today (May 22) releasing their blistering new version of “Jackson,” the legendary June Carter & Johnny Cash classic, featuring none other than rock icon Lorraine Lewis of Femme Fatale. The track is already being hailed as a full-throttle “barn burner” destined to set radio stations ablaze worldwide. Listen to the track HERE and view the video HERE. Last night in Hollywood (May 21), Blacklist Union stormed the stage at The Viper Room for “Tommy London Presents The $5 Rock Show,” delivering one of Hollywood’s wildest rock events of the year. The stacked lineup included Blacklist Union, Ten Ton Mojo, Chad Stewart’s Party Ninjas, Honor Among Thieves, and Mursic. And in a moment fans won’t forget, Lorraine Lewis joined Tony West and Blacklist Union live onstage for a scorching performance of “Jackson.” Joining West for the night were Dee Hayes (rhythm guitar) Jimi Zolo (lead guitar), Nick Mason (drums), Cordell Crockett (bass), and Jacob Cohan (keyboards).

The event also served as the official launchpad for Blacklist Union‘s upcoming European tour this September as direct support for Faster Pussycat—a collision of legendary Hollywood sleaze and a dangerous new generation of dirty rock energy. See the tour dates below

Lorraine Lewis adds, “Working with Tony has been icing on the cake for me. Having newly signed with Cleopatra Records, Femme Fatale is slated to release our full album in August, produced by Steve Brown. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the Faster Pussycat/Blacklist Union tour.

“On tour I’ll be kicking off the night with my own brand of rock n’ roll,” adds Lorraine, “but I’m honored and grateful to share the stage with these killer front men—Taime Downe and Tony West. Faster Pussycat is such a legit and iconic Hollywood band, and Blacklist Union is a new breed of dirty Hollywood. Both bands have killer songs and hooks, and to be included with these bad boys…I’m over the moon.”

With Femme Fatale’s upcoming Cleopatra Records release produced by Steve Brown—known for his work with Trixter and Ace Frehley—and Blacklist Union gearing up for a massive European run, all signs point to a breakout moment for both camps.

Tony West formed Blacklist Union because he wanted to play music that he wanted to hear. They put out the first Blacklist Union record, After the Mourning, in 2006. The band’s name comes from getting the best musicians in town with the worst reputations. With a shamanistic blend of Stone Temple Pilots, Guns N’ Roses, Warrior Soul, The Cult, and Mother Love Bone…Blacklist Union was born.

Blacklist Union have built a reputation on their explosive live shows and unapologetically bold sound. Their previous record, Letters from the Psych Ward, racked up over two million streams, setting the stage for the band’s new album. The band’s latest release was Slay the Dragon that came out in September 2025.

Frontman Tony West, known for his larger-than-life presence, took time out to dive deep into several transformative ayahuasca journeys in the heart of the Amazon, preparing for this next era of music.

As West put it, “Ayahuasca isn’t a drug—it’s powerful spiritual medicine from another realm. It helped me heal in ways I never thought possible, releasing layers of trauma, heartache, and sorrow. I’m not perfect—not Gandhi or anything—but it changed everything. My entire view of myself, love, the world, people, and my children changed because of those experiences.”

West was raised in the Bronx on The Ramones, Bad Brains, and NYHC. Hearing the call of the wild west, he made his way to Los Angeles at 19 years old. West took a break from L.A. to try out Memphis in 1998. While he was there, he attended the first Saliva gig with Paul Crosby on drums. This marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between Crosby and West, leading to management, song collaborations, and guest video appearances. West collaborated with guitarist Todd Youth (Murphy’s Law/Danzig) and Malfunkshun, which was kept active by Andy Wood’s brother Kevin Wood. Andy Wood is West’s muse, and he was honored to sing in his hero’s band.

Jon Davison says: “‘Turnaround Situation’ came from realizing that every time I ignored my conscience, life seemed to fall apart in one way or another. I’ve taken the wrong road before. Most people have. There’s always a temporary thrill in it, but eventually it catches up with you.

“Writing this song was part confession, part redemption. Ultimately, the song is meant to capture that feeling of finally being at peace with yourself —when, by choosing the high road, you stop fighting what you know deep down is right.

“The strange thing is, the right road is usually the harder one. It demands more from you. But in the end, it gives something back too: clarity, self-respect, and a kind of inner freedom. I think that’s what everyone’s really chasing underneath it all.”

When YES first began sketching out ideas for what would become the process was loose and exploratory. There was no preconceived concept at the start, just a collection of musical fragments that gradually began to find one another and take form. Among these early sketches was a piece titled “Aurora,” and it quickly became clear that the name carried certain gravity. It suggested light, emergence, and a sense of vastness, qualities that resonated deeply with the band. Jon Davison remembers how “the title immediately resonated with Steve Howe and sparked visual inspiration for artist Roger Dean, setting a conceptual tone that would guide the project.”

Work on AURORA began almost as soon as the ‘Classic Tales of Yes’ tour ended in 2024. The idea of a new album surfaced quickly and with the label’s encouragement, the band had the time to develop material organically. Rather than gathering in a single studio for months, they embraced a modern workflow; ideas were born in home studios, shaped independently, and then woven together through constant collaboration. Downes and Howe often acted as the central creative axis, with Howe, as producer, serving as the point through which all ideas eventually flowed.

Across AURORA, each track carries its own character. Some echo the classic approach, others push into new territory, but together they form a cohesive whole that honors the band’s heritage while embracing forward motion. With their 24th studio album, YES demonstrate not just longevity, but a sustained curiosity, a desire to keep exploring, refining and discovering their capacity to create.

The band dove into recording CURSUM PERFICIO in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and ANTHRAX, the result is an album that’s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare.

“It was quite a journey from the inception of this album to its completion,” Ian says. We were supposed to make this in 2020, but the universe had other plans for everyone. After the Pandemic, we got to be a band again. When we started working on the record, we were just happy to be in a room together. It was so exciting that it was like being reborn in a way. All of that energy and emotion went into the music. The fear of being forced out of our lives and the joy of coming back together are present. The title ‘Cursum Perficio’ feels like ANTHRAX. It resembled what we went through to get to the point of finishing the record.”

“There was an awful lot of growth between Worship Music in 2011 and CURSUM PERFICIO,” Benante elaborated. “This album is a culmination of everything we’ve learned. I was watching a Marilyn Monroe documentary, and I saw ‘Cursum Perficio’ written on a tile in her last home. When I found out what the phrase meant, it immediately clicked with me. We aren’t saying this is our last record, but our journey has come to an end. I believe we’ve completed the task.”

“We had to make Fistful Of Metal and Spreading The Disease to be able to write Among The Living,” Ian goes on. “In the same respect, it took Worship Music and For All Kings for us to be able to write CURSUM PERFICIO. I very much compare this record to Among The Living.”

“We left it all on the table,” agreed Bello. “We really know who we are as ANTHRAX, what turns us on, and what we need to do. I don’t think anybody knows what’s next, but we’re hungrier than ever. From here on out, we’re going to go full throttle for every fucking minute.”

“A friend of mine said, ‘It’s For The Kids’ is a straight-up love letter to your fans,’” Ian says. “That’s exactly what I wanted it to be. The album needed a four-minute thrash song that harkened back to our first era. Whether it’s the aggression or the big chorus, it represents all the best parts of ANTHRAX in a very angry four-minute package. For the video, we wanted to throw back to our ‘Madhouse’ video–thematically it just made sense and this idea opened the door for us to share the experience with our fans. For all of us!”

“The video for ‘It’s For the Kids’ turned out really well,” Benante says. “I don’t necessarily like doing videos and this one had elements of things that I really love. There were fans in it, they showed up, they enjoyed it, it made me enjoy the video just seeing them enjoy it. Hearing the song for the first time, their reaction to it, and just the interaction with them was just great. I think the director did a great job on it. It’s kind of a throwback to our first ever video, ‘Madhouse.’ So I think fans are gonna see it and think ‘oh look at that, I see what they did.’ But yeah, great song and a great video. ‘It’s For the Kids’ is one of the songs that I felt was so strong, and the riff behind it and the rhythm behind it was almost like a tug of war, it’s like a push pull. It has this tension to it where the drums are just playing at a high pace speed, and the guitars are doing pretty much quarter notes with it. And the drums are just going full speed ahead. One of my favorite songs on the record and one of my favorite riffs. I really think this song is a gift to ANTHRAX fans who have been with us throughout the years. This basically is ANTHRAX at its best. Fast paced, thrashing, melodic fucking metal.”

“When I hear certain tracks, I immediately go, ‘I want to do this song. It might have a shot,” Belladonna notes. “Even the first time I started singing a tune like ‘Madhouse,’ I figured it was going to be a strong one. You just know. There’s a lot of variety to each of our records. To me, ‘It’s For The Kids’ is nice, straight-up ANTHRAX. It has a lot of fire and a punch to it. Vocally, it’s really cooking. It was definitely fun to hammer down on this one and put a lot of drive into it.”

Donais adds, “‘It’s For The Kids’ is a right to the point thrasher. It’s fast, aggressive, catchy and definitely going to be a fun one live. I love the ‘madhouse’ inspired throwback vibe of this video. Involving the fans and capturing their reactions to a new song adds some energy that really stands out.”

“I’m psyched for people to hear ‘It’s For The Kids!’ Bello comments. “This is a heavy, driving song with a big hook chorus-a combination of classic ANTHRAX and current- I can’t wait to play it live! Had a (cold!) blast filming the video too. It’s a great, energy packed video with a bunch of amazing ANTHRAX fans having a good time on a freezing day in Pennsylvania. The metal kept us all warm.”

Netcom Music today (May 14) announces the release of “The Good Years,” an original song composed, arranged, and recorded by the late two-time Grammy-nominated BILL PURSELL. This single from the longtime Nashville session pianist and a member of Nashville’s A-Team of musicians is the first song to be released from his newly remastered album THE GOOD YEARS. Due June 9, it’s a collection of some of Pursell’s favorite songs from the Great American Songbook that was originally recorded at Reflections Studio in Nashville in 1994 and was recently remastered by Stephan Oberhoff at Creation Station East, Nashville. Pursell previously described this track as his “curtain closer to the album and a look back to a long time ago.” “The Good Years” is now available on all streaming platforms. Listen HERE.

Nashville music legend Charlie McCoy, a longtime friend and fellow Nashville A-Team session-musician, shared: “I first met Bill Pursell in the studio back in the early 60’s when he was the new session guy in town. On one of the early sessions, he and I had a nice chat. We learned that we both had the same Solfeggio teacher at two different colleges. Bill became an artist and recorded a huge hit called “Our Winter Love” on Columbia Records. Later, as part of the Belmont University Music School, Bill was one of the main reasons the school became one of the best in the nation. Above all, he was a great friend.”

About Bill Pursell:

Bill Pursell was a Nashville session pianist, composer, orchestrator and arranger throughout the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s for the following artists: Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Boots Randolph, Chet Atkins, Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Johnny Paycheck, Joan Baez, Scotty Moore, J.J. Cale, Dan Fogelberg, Bob Dylan, Burl Ives, Eddy Arnold, James Galway, Willie Nelson, Roy Orbison, Ray Price, Bobby Vinton, Charlie Pride, Buddy Emmons, Lefty Frizzell, Brenda Lee, Charlie McCoy and more. Pursell began teaching at Belmont University in 1980 (music history, theory, composition and orchestration) after being approached by the President of the college to add to the music department’s curriculum, shaping the program’s unique bridge between classical and popular music and leaving a lasting legacy on the institution’s history. Pursell was a cornerstone of the Belmont University School of Music serving as a professor for 37 years. Pursell passed away in 2021 at the age of 95 years old.

DEEP PURPLE have debuted the first single and video for the powerful, fast-paced hard rock tune “Arrogant Boy.” It’s the initial musical statement from SPLAT! the band’s new studio album set for a July 3 release on earMUSIC. The official music video for the track is a live performance clip which premiered last night (May 12) on YouTube. Watch it HERE.

DEEP PURPLE—Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey, and Simon McBride—are currently featured on the cover of Classic Rock Germany, where the magazine highlights “Arrogant Boy” as “an electrifying song in the style of ‘Space Truckin’ or ‘Highway Star,’” adding that it “doesn’t copy these classics; rather, it cleverly varies them.”

“‘Arrogant Boy’ is the story of Billy who couldn’t read or write,” says DEEP PURPLE frontman Gillian. “He is unhappy with things, so he speaks up, and finds a way of irritating, one way or another, the elite. And I can’t think of anything more fun than irritating the elite. It would be a joyous exercise for me every morning after coffee.”

The single arrives one week after DEEP PURPLE announced their new studio album SPLAT! Once again, the band has teamed up with producer Bob Ezrin, continuing a collaboration that has shaped the band’s recent studio albums, all of which reached #1 on the album charts in multiple countries.

On the touring front, DEEP PURPLE have just completed shows in Asia and the band is set to continue touring with a run of European summer dates in June before officially launching the SPLAT! World Tour in North America in August. The upcoming touring schedule includes 86 shows across 28 countries, bringing DEEP PURPLE back to major arenas across Europe in autumn before the year ends with shows in South America in December.

2026 marks Brit Floyd’s biggest year ever with the expansive 123-date North American tour that showcases a powerful creative concept celebrating two of Pink Floyd’s most iconic and best-selling albums of all time, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. The dates follow a massive 2025 that saw BRIT FLOYD dazzle audiences across North America, the UK, and Europe. Some highlights along the 2026 tour route include two nights at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado; a return to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles; and multiple-night engagements in Saratoga, CA; Reno, NV; Milwaukee, WI; Waukegan, IL; Clearwater, FL; Wilmington, NC; Huber Heights, OH.

The Moon, The Wall and Beyond is BRIT FLOYD’s most immersive production to date, combining spectacular laser and lighting design, iconic visuals and inflatables, a massive video screen, and theatrical staging inspired by The Wall. On select nights, audiences will experience full thematic performances, with distinct setlists dedicated to each album—creating two completely different concert experiences within the same tour. The shows will feature selections from Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, including such timeless classics such as “Time,” “Money,” “Comfortably Numb,” and “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2.” Beyond these iconic songs, audiences can also expect a selection of fan favorites from Pink Floyd’s vast discography including tracks from Wish You Were Here to Animals and many more.
