Critically acclaimed Mongolian rock outfit THE HU have spent the past five years dominating audiences across the globe with their self-branded genre of “hunnu rock”—a unique blend of Western modern rock/metal and Mongolian throat singing using traditional Mongolian instruments sung entirely in their native language. Having accumulated over 329 million combined streams and 290 million video views, two Top 5 Mainstream Rock charting singles, multiple sold-out headlining global tours, festival appearances including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Download Festival and rave reviews from Billboard, NPR, GQ, The Guardian, Revolver and even Sir Elton John himself—THE HU have released a three-part mini-docuseries encapsulating their career to date.

The first episode of the docuseries, “Citizens of The World,” is out now via Better Noise Music’s YouTube channel. In the episode, viewers get an introduction to the band’s four founding members–Gala, Jaya, Temka, and Enkush—and to their traditional instrumentats, including the Morin Khuur, Tovshuur and Tumur Khuur, while presenting THE HU’s main message of inspiring listeners to awaken the warrior spirit inside of themselves and to use that courage to spread goodness throughout the world. The episode ends with the announcement of the band being named UNESCO’s “Artist For Peace” recipients for 2022. The final two episodes, airing March 1 and 15 respectively, will cover their journey to UNESCO’s Paris Headquarters where they received the designation in a ceremony held last December and their following concert at the renowned Casino de Paris. The docuseries was directed and co-produced by Michael Lombardi, who also co-directed the music video for their new single, “This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls) Feat. William DuVall of Alice In Chains,” and was the lead actor/co-producer of the 2022 horror-thriller The Retaliators in which members of THE HU appeared and whose soundtrack included music from the band’s discography

DEBUT MUSIC VIDEO FOR SINGLE
“HOLLYWOOD”
FROM 2022 ALBUM ‘INTO THE NIGHT’

BAND TO PERFORM BEER RELEASE / TOUR KICKOFF SHOW
THURSDAY, MARCH 9 AT
BREWERY’S DOWNTOWN PHOENIX TAPROOM IN REFURBISHED HISTORICAL FIRE STATION

Arizona-based modern classic rock & roll trio THE BLACK MOODS have partnered with downtown Phoenix’s Walter Station Brewery on their collaborative “Hollywood and Lime,” a light blonde ale with hints of cherry and bright lime flavors. Brewed with select malts and hops for a handcrafted flavor profile and just a hint of tartness, “Hollywood and Lime” is perfect for Arizona’s spring season as the temperature start to warm and the days get longer. The beer was named after THE BLACK MOODS’ single “Hollywood,” featured on their 2022 album INTO THE NIGHT. The trio have today (February 21) revealed the official “Hollywood” music video, directed and filmed by videographer and longtime friend Domonick Giorgianni (Domino Effect Productions) It unflinchingly looks at the dark side beneath the glitz and glamour of the star-studded entertainment capital. Watch it below or streaming on YouTube HERE.

The “Hollywood and Lime” ale will be released March 9 as a limited edition offering in 12oz cans available to be purchased as a six-pack and/or case at Walter Station Brewery as well as at select restaurants, bars and bottle shops in the greater Phoenix area. To celebrate the video’s release and kick off the beginning of their spring co-headlining “March Radness” tour (3/24-4/7), THE BLACK MOODS will perform a special show at Walter Station Brewery’s taproom, located in downtown Phoenix in a refurbished 1960’s-era Phoenix Fire Department Station, on Thursday, March 9. The beer will also be offered on draft for this event only and attendees can purchase limited-release six-packs at the end of the night. Reserve your tickets now HERE.

“We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering up with Jim and Walter Station Brewery to release the first-ever Black Moods beer, ‘Hollywood and Lime,’” says THE BLACK MOODS front man Josh Kennedy. “It will turn all your bad feelings into good feelings!”

“Brewing a beer with and for The Black Moods was an idea I’ve had since the guys played at the brewery while it was still under construction back in 2016,” shares Walter Station Brewery co-owner Jim Erickson. “It was an amazing show and an opportunity to introduce my friends, family and brewing community to the band, which everyone loved and still talk about today.  Having seen The Black Moods a couple of years earlier at a show in Mexico, I quickly became a fan of the music but also the vibe of the band and how they seemed to be really connected to their own community and uber approachable.  It was similar to how I saw, or hoped to see, my brewery would interact with the beer community.  After a couple of idea pitches back and forth between myself and the band, and lots of sampling, we settled on developing an easy-drinking beer that they could enjoy while hanging out with friends, rehearsing or before a show. ‘Hollywood and Lime’ got its name while all of us were sitting at the brewery one evening and discussing their new album which included the single ‘Hollywood,’ and the rest is history.  Sid Rhea, a friend of the band and a talented artist, contributed the artwork and graphics for the can labels.  An excellent label for an excellent beer for an excellent band.”

The trio released their fourth album INTO THE NIGHT in 2022 via Wit Hustle/The Orchard/Steelhorse Entertainment with Grammy Award-nominated producer Johnny “K” Karkazis (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down) who they previously enlisted for their critically acclaimed 2020 effort, SUNSHINE. INTO THE NIGHT’s 12 tracks were lauded by Metal Edge Magazine as “raw, riff-heavy, blues-drenched rock delivered with a nod to the classic acts that came before them, but filtered through a youthful, high-energy lens.”

ABOUT WALTER STATION BREWERY:
Walter Station Brewery is a collaborative effort between Jim Erickson and Kirk Strawn, both of Phoenix AZ.  Jim Erickson is from a background of Sales and Marketing and an avid homebrewer as well as the original brewer for Walter Station.  Kirk Strawn is a former Physician turned entrepreneur and is the face of the burgeoning Walter Productions in the Phoenix Area with several event properties offering music, art and community outreach.  Both Jim and Kirk share a passion for Craft Beer and spawned their relationship while both were members of a brewing club located in Scottsdale AZ.  Walter Station Brewery is best described by their tagline “Local, Community, Craft”, which can be found throughout their marketing and social media messages and adorns all their packaged beer, as the goal of the company is to produce the best beer possible while sticking to their local roots and remaining an engaging member of their neighborhood.  Walter Station produces Ales and Lagers, using traditional methods but with, sometimes, unusual ideas or ingredients.  Staying true to style is important but just as important is to push the boundaries of traditional beer and use both Local and Global ideas to bring new experiences to their fans.

Located in a 1960’s era Phoenix Fire Department Station, the brewery was built by leaving as much of the original building and architecture as possible as it remains one of only three of the original 12 buildings that were built throughout the Phoenix Area.  To this day, Walter Station enjoys a “special relationship” with the Firefighting Community as you will often see past and current members of the Department in the brewery enjoying a beer in their Old Station 29.  Now offering great beers, traditional pub food and live music several nights a week from local bands as well as a welcoming stage for musicians traveling through Arizona.

OZZY OSBOURNE Collaborates With PlayStation For PlayStation®VR2 Launch

DATE: FEBRUARY 21, 2023

FROM: MARCEE RONDAN/MITCH SCHNEIDER

OZZY OSBOURNE
COLLABORATES WITH PLAYSTATION
FOR PLAYSTATION®VR2 LAUNCH
SPOT COMES ON HEELS OF OZZY’S

TWO RECENT GRAMMY WINS FOR
“BEST ROCK ALBUM” AND “BEST METAL PERFORMANCE”

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter OZZY OSBOURNE has teamed up with PlayStation® to create a hilarious vignette that debuted yesterday (February 20) exclusively on all of OZZY’s online platforms (website and social media), after which PlayStation channels shared it globally.

The collaboration features music from OZZY’s Grammy-winning 2022 PATIENT NUMBER 9 album. In the spot OZZY is seen testing out PlayStation VR2 (releasing February 22), interspersed with some lighthearted banter between OZZY and Sharon Osbourne as they are in the midst of packing for their move to the UK. PlayStation VR2 is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s next-generation virtual reality headset that works with the PlayStation®5 (PS5™) console.

This new piece follows a recent Super Bowl commercial for Workday with OZZY and his Grammy wins just two weeks ago. OZZY’s hugely successful and critically acclaimed PATIENT NUMBER 9 (Epic) album was honored with two (2) Grammy Awards for “Best Rock Album” (his first-ever win in the category) and “Best Metal Performance” from his PATIENT NUMBER 9 album (Epic Records).

“The new PlayStation VR2 is f***ing amazing,” OZZY says. “I was having such a great time playing while filming the commercial that I didn’t want to leave. I told them they got to get me one when they’re released.”

PATIENT NUMBER 9–released September 9 and marking OZZY’s 13th solo studio album–triumphantly sets new career highs for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter. The critically acclaimed album has topped his previous chart entries with record-breaking numbers around the world. In the U.S., the album debuted at #1 on multiple charts: Top Album Sales (OZZY’s first #1 ever on this chart), Top Current Album Sales (another first), Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Vinyl Albums and Tastemaker Albums charts; and at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Globally, the album charted at #1 in Canada (OZZY’s first-ever #1 there); career high #2 entries in the UK, Australia, Finland and Italy; #6 in the Netherlands and New Zealand; #8 in Belgium; and #14 France. Other highlights include #2 Austria, Germany and Sweden; #3 in Switzerland; and #4 in Norway.

Working with producer Andrew Watt for the second time, OZZY welcomed a dynamic A-list featured guests on the album. For the first time ever, Black Sabbath co-founder, guitarist, and riff-master Tony Iommi appears on an OZZY solo album. The record also boasts guitarists Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, and longstanding righthand man and six-string beast Zakk Wylde who plays on the majority of the tracks. For the bulk of the album, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers held down drums, while the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters appears on three songs. Old friend and one-time OZZY band member Robert Trujillo of Metallica plays bass on most of the album’s tracks, with Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses and Chris Chaney supplying bass on a few songs.

ELSEWHERE, The Prog-Leaning Alt/Power-Pop/New Wave Trio, Release Stirring Video For “Realization” From ‘Life…Is A Fraction’ Album

ELSEWHERE,
THE PROG-LEANING ALT/POWER-POP/NEW WAVE TRIO,
RELEASE STIRRING VIDEO FOR
“REALIZATION”
FROM
‘LIFE…IS A FRACTION’ ALBUM

READ A SONG-BY SONG INTERVIEW
WITH THE BOSTON-BASED BAND’S
MICHAEL AROIAN

Prog-leaning alt/power-pop/new wave ELSEWHERE–led by frontman and guitarist Michael Aroian and drummer Adam Soucy–have today (February 21) released a new video for “Realization” from their musically adventurous and evocative concept album LIFE…IS A FRACTION. This new video follows last year’s release of the album’s three singles: Call You Out and The Pledgeand “Diagnosis.” Read a song-by-song interview with below with Aroian, who writes the songs with Soucy.

ELSEWHERE have created a compelling video that seeks to capture the essence of the song and question how organized religion impacts life amidst a personal crisis. It was directed by Bill Fulkerson and features live performance clips and haunting religious imagery.

MICHAEL explains, “At its essence, ‘Realization’ is really about illumination and the idea people can’t and won’t accept being duped by institutional corruption. While some of the imagery and lyrics–like ‘They’re not with Christ, they are lice!’–might evoke an anti-Catholic sentiment or interpretation, this is not the intention. All three members of the band were brought up in Catholic families and I think can in some way opine on the idea of hypocrisy in religion. The core of the song seeks to call out the lies of ‘venerable’ organizations and how they ultimately exploit the people they are purporting to serve. We won’t stand for it anymore and neither should you and as such we’re taking our lives and the definition of truth back!”

For their third album, ELSEWHERE worked with producer and long-time collaborator David Minehan (Replacements, Aerosmith). LIFE…IS A FRACTION weaves together a fascinating, semi-autobiographical narrative about how our perception of time shifts as we grow older. Days, months, and years seem to speed up…until a frightening, life-changing diagnosis–and being forced to face mortality–changes everything once again. The record is based on the cancer diagnosis Aroian received several years ago which served as a defining point in his life.

As the protagonist wanders through life before being brutally confronted with his own mortality, he explores various options–face it, embrace it, defy it. Through it all, LIFE…IS A FRACTION teeters precariously on the edge of sanity. “When I was diagnosed with cancer, I experienced this first-hand,” says Aroian. “My denominator was reduced. I now literally live it every day. Time is indeed fleeting and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we can take control and live each day to the fullest. The tragedy is not that this is happening to us, but that we might not learn from it or do anything proactive or meaningful about it.”

LIFE…IS A FRACTION shows the band reaching a creative zenith (all in a hard-hitting 34 minutes); it’s an original rock epic that shakes the foundations not only of what everyone’s come to expect of the New England trio, but also of the lives of everyone who listens. Musically, it was influenced by front man Aroian’s lifelong passion for Rush and particularly their 1978 classic album Hemispheres, as well as the early Genesis catalogue. After the main 10-song cycle, the album ends with ELSEWHERE’s most recent singles from 2020-21, “Call You Out” and the aforementioned “The Pledge.”

Elsewhere: “Life…is a Fraction”
Song/Chapter Outline
By Michael Aroian

Michael Aroian

I.) Restless

In the intro of the whole epic, the character is just kind of going through the motions. But there are hints that he or she is noticing that time is passing them by quicker than it used to. It’s a gateway to the whole concept of what “Life…is a Fraction” is about.

II.) Origin Story

“Origin Story” finds our protagonist essentially at the beginning of his/her mid-life crisis. However, instead of anxiety and bitterness, there is more of a sense of contemplation and resignation. Perhaps certain goals have yet to be attained and may never be, but in a weird way there is peace.

III.) In Search of the Unknown

This track is basically an instrumental with only a dozen words give or take in the lyrics and this is by design as we felt that the urgency of the music was what was really telling the story here. I think on some level, when we are going through this life journey, we might have a moment or two or three when we are literally speechless (which is why a mainly instrumental track fits here).

IV.) Rolling On

The unknown on some level leads to aimlessness and borderline disillusion. A weary middle-aged traveler of time grows tired of the daily rat race. What’s happening with that character is they’re just kind of going through the motions again.

V. Diagnosis

This installment of the album follows our protagonist from the streets of indecision and disillusion to the hospital, where they learn that they have contracted a potentially fatal disease. At that point in time, this “diagnosis” changes their life forever and crystallizes the notion that time is moving incrementally faster each day as their denominator (the number of days in a lifespan) is jarringly cut short.

VI.) Realization

Following our protagonist’s initial shock from their diagnosis and the realization that time is now rapidly running away, they are filled with indignant rage. For years, they tried to do in their life what society dictated as they were told that as long as there was compliance, everything would work out. You can trust in God unequivocally. At the end of it, the protagonist decides to take control of his own situation and not depend on religion per se.

VII.) It’s Happening Now

The protagonist believed they are no longer an idle “passenger” but a “messenger” that’s uncovering something new. In this section of the epic, the protagonist almost fashions himself/herself as a prophet and is euphoric with their near discovery and new sense of purpose…but not in an egotistical or self-important way. They really want to try and help people.

VIII.) Reflection

This track is one of contemplation and the understanding that the wider concept is ultimately beckoning our protagonist to fully grasp it’s meaning. It’s almost like the notion of a butterfly. Like being born.

IX.) Interlude 8-9/Transformation

By our protagonist accepting that every day is faster than the next, they are in essence gaining full mastery of the concept itself. And while on some level, there is abject powerlessness, there is also power. The power of knowledge that fractional time perception is happening to the protagonist and to all of us.

X.) Finale/The End of Everything

In this conclusion the protagonist has finally self-actualized within the notion he/she has discovered. What they can do is now live their life the way they want and not waste any more time. And at the end of all of this for us is of course…the unavoidable. The message: take the knowledge you have and use it so you can live your best possible life and actually affect positive change.

About ELSEWHERE:

Describing themselves as a “prog leaning alt/power-pop new wave band,” Boston based power trio Elsewhere’s single “Don’t You Believe Me Baby”–a dynamic cover of a long overlooked, previously unrecorded early 80’s Police song–has scored hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube, and streams on Spotify and landed the band a full page story in the Boston Herald. Their 2018 EP Multi-Man includes three equally fiery originals penned by frontman and guitarist Michael Aroian. The EP was followed by the “banthem” (ballad/anthem) “The Pledge,” which broke important ground by tackling the often-taboo subject of Alzheimer’s Disease; the song was mixed by Grammy-nominated producer Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Pink, Elton John). Elsewhere initially achieved notoriety for their now out-of-print album Outbound, which earned them slots at the College Music Journal (CMJ) Marathon and numerous showcases in NYC where major labels showed interest. The band later achieved an international breakthrough with their widely acclaimed 1981 album in 2010. In addition to Belgium, where they received a write-up in one of the country’s biggest rock magazines (Rock Tribune), they became popular and received great press in Germany, Denmark, Norway, UK, Italy, Czech Republic and other countries—all while continuing to hold court at top clubs in their home base of Boston and NYC.

THE HU—Mongolian rock sensation and UNESCO “Artist For Peace” ambassadors—have today (February 10) shared a new version of their 2022 groundbreaking single “This Is Mongol.” With featured guest vocalist/guitarist William DuVall of Alice In Chains now appearing on the updated track, “This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls)” further highlights the song’s original message of promoting Mongolian culture and empowering environmental awareness by adding English-translated lyrics, sung by DuVall—who also produced and mixed the single–and an unforgettable chanting chorus: “Hey, We are warrior souls, rolling like a river of fire / We are warrior souls, running down the dragon to slay / This is our way (This is our way).” These themes are seen throughout the “This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls)” music video which also premiered today. The video was co-directed by Michael Lombardi, co-producer and lead actor of The Retaliators–the 2022 horror-thriller in which members of THE HU appeared and whose soundtrack included music from the band’s discography—and includes an exclusive sneak peek of the film which is out now on Blu-Ray via Better Noise Films.

“We are so excited to be performing our single, ‘This is Mongol (Warrior Souls),’ with William DuVall,” exclaims THE HU’s tovshuur player and backing vocalist Temka. “He’s not only an amazing vocalist but also has unique rhythm and technique to his performance, and his style matches our energy and our throat singing. The song is about the warrior souls that are within us, and its purpose is to inspire you and awaken your soul. We hope everyone enjoys this piece of art.”

“It was such an exciting and fulfilling challenge to write and produce something that remained true to The Hu’s sensibilities while also resonating with my own,” shares William DuVall. “‘Warrior Souls’ is a testament to the fact that, no matter where we come from, in the end, we all want the same things-to prosper in our own time despite the odds arrayed against us, making previous generations proud and leaving a worthy legacy for the future. I’m honored by this collaboration and very proud of the result.”

Lombardi shared details on working with THE HU and the video’s inspiration, stating:

“I had the immense pleasure of working with The Hu in the feature film ‘The Retaliators.’ Their contributions ranged from acting, songs appearing in the film and also on ‘The Retaliators’ soundtrack. On their track, ‘This is Mongol,’ their lyrics encompass a proud declaration of possessing a warrior spirit. The Hu believe we all have the warrior spirit within us. Through inspiring with their hearts and courage, they awaken that warrior spirit in all of us. I have witnessed that the messages in their music are a total reflection of how they live and how they tackle their artistic process. The Hu approach their craft with professionalism, courage–and with infectious energy.”

EIGHT PERFORMANCES OF
“CIRCUS, A MUSICAL VARIETY SHOW”
WITH TWO SHOWS NIGHTLY
FEBRUARY 24, 25
AND MARCH 3, 4
AT THE BOURBON ROOM IN HOLLYWOOD

2023 PERFORMANCES FOLLOW SOLD-OUT LOS ANGELES
SHOWS IN 2020

The Circus is coming to Hollywood!

Misfit Cabaret’s acclaimed musical variety show arrives for two consecutive weekends at Hollywood Blvd.’s famous Bourbon Room for two shows nightly (7:00 and 10:00 PM) on February 24, 25 and March 3, 4. The lively and energetic show features award-winning burlesque lions, chain-aerial oddities, a Dragula clown, and more surprises under the big top, with “The Voice” finalist Kat Robichaud wrangling her raucous troupe of vagabonds. Tickets are available here.

This will be the first time in almost three years that Misfit Cabaret has performed in Los Angeles, with its last engagement occurring a mere week before the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020. Prior to the pandemic, Misfit Cabaret had the honor of performing two sold-out runs at the Hayworth (Dynasty Typewriter), and now is thrilled to have found a new home at the Bourbon Room. To celebrate, Robichaud is pulling out all the stops, with Burlesque Hall of Fame/Miss Exotic World 2019 star Frankie Fictitious, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula contestant Felony Dodger, San Francisco suspension chain aerialist Drago Nesa, and L.A.’s own contortionist Mari Saito.

And of course, no circus would be complete without its ringleader, the magnificent Robichaud, who ties the whole night together with her Top 40 cover medleys, rock ‘n’ roll mashups and glam-rock originals. Misfit Cabaret is Robichaud’s singular vision is a splendiferous spectacular of magical music with a rotating cast of eccentric performers. Each show is completely different—from the cult-film-inspired Cinepheilia to the naughty and nautical Whimsea—with Robichaud writing two original songs for each theme and performing them with her Darling Misfit band; every performance will also be highlighted by a special medley to kick off the evening in grand fashion. You never know what you’re going to see—or what you’re getting yourself into! There’s comedy, romance, and bawdiness around every corner, and not a dull moment or dry eye in the house. So, come run away with the circus at the Bourbon Room, and befriend a Hollywood underground miscreant or two. Who knows…they might whisper to you when the next secret Misfit Cabaret is!

Here’s some critical praise from media folks who’ve fallen under the spell of Misfit Cabaret’s acclaimed musical variety show:

“As the glitter-rock diva who famously once crowd-surfed to AWOLNATION’s ‘Sail’ on live TV, Kat Robichaud made history as one of the most electric and fearless Voice contestants of all time. But that iconic performance provided a mere glimpse of her dramatic talents, as the San Francisco theater maverick has since gone on to stage her own successful Bowie- and Burton-inspired rock operas—still performing on her own terms, but showcasing her true voice.”
–Yahoo Entertainment

“San Francisco’s weird artists and their possibly even weirder audiences are alive and thriving.”
–SF Chronicle

“Kat Robichaud goes from TV star to Darling Misfit…”
–L.A. Weekly

“There really is something for everyone!”
–Nerdist

“It’s the Muppet version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
–ABC’s Localish

“As I left the theater, so many audience members were absolutely buzzing with delight. One woman dressed in a lace-up corset with a frilly skirt turned to her date and said, ‘I don’t want it to be over.’ I know how she felt. It was a wild fantasy ride, and I greedily wanted more.”

BETTER NOISE MUSIC
RECLAIMS STATUS AS
#1 BILLBOARD MAINSTREAM ROCK AIRPLAY LABEL
AND #1 MAINSTREAM ROCK AIRPLAY IMPRINT
FOR 2022

LABEL ARTISTS INCLUDING
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, BAD WOLVES, NOTHING MORE,
ASKING ALEXANDRIA & DIRTY HEADS
LAND TOP 10-CHARTING SINGLES THROUGHOUT 2022

BETTER NOISE MUSIC, in a word, rocks.

The leading independent music label–whose roster boasts many of mainstream rock’s top acts including FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, BAD WOLVES, NOTHING MORE, HELLYEAH and ASKING ALEXANDRIA–has been named Billboard’s #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Label and #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint of 2022. The label has made history by ranking as the #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint for five years in a row (2018-2022).

“To be the #1 Mainstream Rock Airplay Imprint for five years is testament to the roll out strategy of our artists’ albums and focus tracks, delivering what has been described as the best and most consistent A&R in the rock world,” says BETTER NOISE MUSIC President Dan Waite. “This attracts world class artists to our label who benefit from our US and international offices, and our global approach to radio, touring and streaming.”

BETTER NOISE MUSIC has achieved this 2022 distinction with two Active Rock #1’s from Five Finger Death Punch (“Times Like These” and “Afterlife”), plus three #5’s—two in Active Rock: Bad Wolves (“If Tomorrow Never Comes”) and Nothing More (“Tired of Winning”) and one in Alternative: Dirty Heads (“Life’s Been Good”)—as well as two songs in the Active Rock Top 10 including Asking Alexandria’s “Never Gonna Learn” (#6) and Five Finger Death Punch’s “Welcome To The Circus” (#8).

“It’s incredibly rewarding to be validated in Billboard over so many years, and once again, as the top mainstream rock label and imprint,” says Better Noise Music COO Steve Kline. “Our commitment to A&R, artist development, marketing and data analysis along with our strategic partnerships across radio give us the unique recipe for success that makes us the leading label in rock. We’re proud to showcase our efforts,” adds Kline, “with highlights such as Asking Alexandria celebrating their first-ever #1 single, ‘Alone Again,’ in 2021 after signing with Better Noise earlier that year and having our longtime artists Five Finger Death Punch break rock chart records by landing nine consecutive #1’s at Mainstream Rock Radio with 2022’s ‘Times Like These,’ their 13th #1 single overall.”

Jackie Kajzer, SVP Promotion, adds: “We’ve started 2023 with Five Finger Death Punch in the Top 5 and up next is the new single from THE HU, ‘This Is Mongol (Warrior Souls)’ Featuring William DuVall of Alice In Chains. Radio has always been a key partner in our artist development and we want to do our part to contribute to their success. Through marketing and data, we identify the most engaging songs from our deep roster of amazing artists to deliver the absolute best music for their listeners.”

Several of the label’s developing artists have also played a vital role in BETTER NOISE MUSIC’s recent success with notable chart appearances. Global rock sensation from Mongolia, THE HU, landed in the Top 5 Active Rock twice with “Yuve Yuve Yu” (#4) and “Wolf Totem feat. Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach” (#5). Powerful Los Angeles-based rockers All Good Things were the fourth act ever to score a #1 Mainstream Rock position with their debut entry on the charts via their breakthrough single “For The Glory” featuring Johnny 3 Tears and Charlie Scene of Hollywood Undead; All Good Things also returned to peak at #15 with their second entry “The Comeback.” Detroit rockers Eva Under Fire, featured on Pandora’s “Artists To Watch” list for 2023, impacted at #11 with their single “Blow” featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills.

BETTER NOISE MUSIC (formerly Eleven Seven Music) was founded in 2006 by music industry veteran and independent pioneer Allen Kovac and is focused on the development of artists with a roster including rising acts such as Mongolian rock group THE HU, hard rock unit NOTHING MORE, heavy rock outfit FROM ASHES TO NEW, country rocker CORY MARKS, rap metal act FIRE FROM THE GODS and alternative rockers ALL GOOD THINGS to RIAA Gold-certified acts such as FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and DIRTY HEADS, plus many more. Partnered with FUGA, AMPED and Membran, BETTER NOISE MUSIC operates a global marketing and distribution platform with offices in New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Paris, Toronto and Sydney.

JEFF LARSON—the veteran singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay area now living in Southern California—has today (February 8) unveiled the video for “Reason To Believe.” It’s the newly released lead single from IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN, his six-song tribute EP to the late iconic singer and songwriter Tim Hardin. The EP, featuring all Hardin originals, was produced by Gerry Beckley of America and is due out March 17 as the first release on new Nashville-based label Melody Place. Watch the Tom Bevins-directed video, featuring a performance by LARSON that’s combined with archival imagery of Hardin, HERE, and listen to “Reason To Believe” HERE.

“When selecting songs for the EP,” explains LARSON, it was hard not to cover some obvious ones.  ‘Reason to Believe,’ like other Tim Hardin songs, is more well-known as recordings by other artists, in this case, Rod Stewart’s 1993 version.  It’s a song that is “in the air” and familiar to many.  I think the goal in covering a song like this is just to associate the lyric to a relationship I had experienced and go from there.”

IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN was produced, arranged and mixed by Beckley and features the above-mentioned single “Reason to Believe,” It’ll Never Happen Again,” “If I Were A Carpenter,” Don’t Make Promises,” “Misty Roses,” and “How Can We Hang On To A Dream.” LARSON (on lead vocals and acoustic guitar) is musically joined by Beckley (piano, acoustic and electric guitars, organ, accordion, strings bass, drums) and an array of fine musicians including Joachim Cooder (electric mbira, drums, percussion) and Matt Combs (mandola, fiddle). The EP was recorded at studios in Sydney, Australia and Southern California.

“Tim Hardin’s work deserves all the attention that comes around,” asserts LARSON. “This EP scratches the surface. There are others I could see approaching at some point: ‘Part of the Wind,’ ‘Black Sheep Boy,’ ‘Speak Like a Child,’ etc. A troubled soul with words that are often brutally honest, heartfelt with longing, and music full of engaging melodies.”

LARSON says the project started with the song “It’ll Never Happen Again,” a cover suggested by Beckley in late 2021.  “We work together often, but mostly on our own individual songs.  This cover worked out well for both of us.  Over the years, there have been many songwriters whom I’ve dug into their body of work. For whatever reason, Tim Hardin wasn’t one of them until we decided to explore a more focused project.  At the outset, it was obvious that something had clicked in singing and playing his music.  Why certain songs work and draw you in is a bit of a mystery, but I feel there is a connection between the melancholy of my voice and his. That and some of the subject matter and mood of his songs.

“As I have since explored Hardin’s catalog, the variety of music genres he covers is also something I admire.  I’m not a purist by any stretch.  There is a sound I cling to more than others, but it ranges at times.  By all accounts, Tim Hardin was hard to define that way–I suppose he is best known as a folk artist, but he could easily drift into Jazz, Blues, County, etc.  That’s refreshing and relatable to my own work.”

LARSON is now working on his next solo album, his first since 2014. It’s due in the fall of 2023.

The from IT’LL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN track listing is:

1. Reason To Believe
2. It’ll Never Happen Again
3. If I Were A Carpenter
4. Don’t Make Promises You Can’t Keep
5. Misty Roses
6. How Can We Hang On to a Dream

ABOUT JEFF LARSON:

JEFF LARSON is a veteran singer-songwriter from the San Francisco Bay area. Musically, Jeff got his start under the wing of producer Elliot Mazer (Neil Young, The Band) playing in clubs and venues throughout the Bay area. As a native Californian, the influences are obviously present and reach from the golden era of L.A.’s Laurel Canyon singer-songwriter scene to the Bay area’s musical heritage and the tension between the two. While remaining a solo artist, he’s collaborated with Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell of America, Chicago’s Robert Lamm, John Blakeley of The Sandals, and Eagles songwriter Jack Tempchin, among others. His prolific body of work created over the years has been released by various means and labels with licensing opportunities with JVC Victor Japan, Universal / Rhino, BMG and others from The Netherlands to Japan. “Larson’s earnest vocals and unwaveringly engaging folk-rock-country songs have an alluring feel,” wrote the San Jose Mercury News in 2011 about his album The World Over. “Larson’s warm, wonderful songs will grab you immediately and just get better with each subsequent listening. Every one of the 10 numbers here proves to be an individual gem.”

OZZY OSBOURNE yesterday (February 5) was honored with two (2) Grammy Awards for “Best Rock Album” (his first-ever win in the category) and “Best Metal Performance” from his hugely successful and critically acclaimed PATIENT NUMBER 9 album (Epic Records). This marks OSBOURNE’s first solo Grammy wins in nearly 30 years.

“I’m one lucky motherfu**er to have won the ‘Best Rock Album’ Grammy,” says OZZY, now a five-time Grammy Award winner. “I was blessed to work with some of the greatest musicians in the world and Andrew Watt as my producer on this album. Winning the ‘Best Metal Performance’ was equally gratifying being that the song featured my longtime friend and Black Sabbath bandmate, Tony Iommi.”

The PATIENT NUMBER 9 album earned four Grammy nominations–marking the most nominations OZZY’s ever received for a single album. The nominations included Best Rock Performance: “Patient Number 9,” Ozzy Osbourne feat. Jeff Beck”; Best Metal Performance: “Degradation Rules,” Ozzy Osbourne feat. Tony lommi; Best Rock Song: “Patient Number 9,” John Osbourne, Chad Smith, Ali Tamposi, Robert Trujillo & Andrew Wotman, songwriters (Ozzy Osbourne feat. Jeff Beck); and Best Rock Album for Patient Number 9.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy®-winning singer and songwriter previously has won three Grammy Awards and received eight nominations. In 1993 OZZY won a solo Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance for “I Don’t Want To Change the World” and two Grammys as a member of Black Sabbath for “Best Metal Performance” in 2000 for “Iron Man” and in 2013 for “Best Metal Performance” for “God Is Dead?” from 13.
