Houston, TX-born and France-based rap rock sensation HYRO THE HERO will celebrate the release of his sophomore full-length album BOUND FOR GLORY via Better Noise Music with a hometown performance tonight, September 15, at House of Blues on the Live Nation-produced “SPIRITS 2023” tour with labelmates NOTHING MORE.

On BOUND FOR GLORY, HYRO collaborates with some of the leading names in rock including David Draiman (Disturbed), Brandon Saller (Atreyu), Chad Gray (HELLYEAH), Spencer Charnas and Dan Sugarman (Ice Nine Kills), REDDSTAR, AJ (Fire From The Gods) and Markus Videsäter (Solence). Several of these artists, in addition to artists who collaborated on his 2022 KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS EP shared praise for HYRO as quoted below.

“I’m incredibly honored. Hyro is a truly amazing artist and I had a blast working with him. This track is exactly what the world needs right now. It’s time to believe again.”
David Draiman (Disturbed)

“It’s always nice to collaborate with up-and-coming talent, especially when you’re a genuine fan. I was stoked to hop on this song with Hyro The Hero. He embodies what a true artist is meant to do: make you feel something. This song is a great reminder that we’re stronger together when facing our demons.”
– Corey Taylor

“A fireball of energy, a sharp lyricist and an infectious personality. If you haven’t heard of HYRO already you’ve been missing out! This new album is catchy, groove laden, fun and full of talent. Best enjoyed at loud volumes!”
-Benjamin Bruce (Asking Alexandria)

Produced by Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead), BOUND FOR GLORY’s 12 tracks consist of a trendsetting hybrid of hip-hop and hard rock spiked with punk topped with unbreakable lyricism and undeniable choruses. Stream/download BOUND FOR GLORY now digitally or grab a copy on CD or Coke Bottle Green vinyl (pictured below) at https://hyrothehero.ffm.to/boundforglory.

Reflecting on his new album, HYRO says “Issues may arise when you feel it in your gut that you were meant to do something great. It’s not a matter of ‘if,’ it’s a matter of ‘when.’ All obstacles and failures are lessons down the road to achieve what you set out for. Some may reach them before you, but that is their story not yours. I live this; being in this industry for so long and seeing others surpass me on my journey doesn’t matter; I know, in my heart, I’m ‘Bound for Glory.’”

“I had such a blast getting in the studio recording ‘Fight’ with Hyro. The verses he wrote were so compelling to me. I knew right when I heard it, that this is the track I wanted to be a part of – I’m so proud of Hyro and this track. And it’s always nice when the melody and lyrics write themselves. That’s always the sign of a great song.
– Chad Gray (HELLYEAH)

HYRO has today released the music video for the album’s pummeling title track, “Bound For Glory (feat. Markus Videsäter of Solence).” Watch it streaming below or via YouTube HERE.

Hyro first got put on my radar maybe seven years ago by a good friend Fred Archambault. Since then I sort of had my eye on what he was doing. Last summer we did the Disrupt Festival with Hyro and he blew me away at every show. His energy was amazing and we immediately hit it off. When the opportunity came to be on a track with him I had no hesitations. This song has such a vibe to it and has so much power and I’m stoked to be a part of it.”
Brandon Saller (Atreyu)

All I kept hearing from my people is how sick Hyro the Hero is so I checked him out at The Viper Room…it reminded me of the first time I saw Rage Against the Machine. It was just off the chain unbridled energy, and I knew I wanted to be a part of and was lucky enough to be asked.” – Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills)

Long before mosh pits regularly broke out at rap shows and metal samples abounded throughout the culture, HYRO THE HERO was collaborating with members of At The Drive-In and Blood Brothers as well as era-defining producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn) on his independently released EP BIRTH, SCHOOL, WORK, DEATH in 2011. The latter generated applause from BBC, Kerrang!, and Alternative Press who touted him as one of “19 Underrated Bands From The 2010s Who Deserve Another Listen.” In its wake, he blasted off with “Bullet,” posting north of 15 million-plus streams and paving the way for his 2018 debut album FLAGGED CHANNEL. He asserted himself as the rare outlier who could shine on a track with Hollywood Undead, Lil’ Keke, and AWOLNATION or Islander, Fozzy, and James “Munky” Shaffer of Korn. Flexing his versatility, he featured on “Cheatcode” by Black Tiger Sex Machine x Hairitage, generating 7.3 million Spotify streams. Meanwhile, his 2022 KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS EP via Better Noise Music boasted an assist from Corey Taylor of Slipknot, and the legendary Mötley Crüe tapped him for “Who’s That Playing On The Radio?” for THE RETALIATORS ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK. At the same time, he packed houses on his own and became a festival favorite at Welcome to Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Shiprocked!, and more

“‘Head Under Water’ is as authentic and real as a song can get. The second I heard this track; I knew I needed to be a part of it. Feeding off of the raw rock energy, I dug deep to bring as many melodic and off the wall guitar elements to the table as I possibly could. Playing through a slurred drunken swagger, the solo and guitar playing gets more concise and razor sharp as the song progresses. Hyro and Reddstar spit the sickest flows and heaviest lyrics I’ve ever heard, and that meant that I needed to do the same. Considering that moments before I started write and record, I got a call from my doctor with the most terrifying medical news that a person could get – I poured myself into this solo, and into this song. I know ‘Head Under Water’ will hit you like it hit me, because this feeling is so real for so many of us.”
– Dan Sugarman (Ice Nine Kills)

“I knew when I heard this track that we had something. Not only does the song have a lot of meaning but I like how me and Hyro approached it from our own perspectives. I do believe when people listen to this that so many will be able to connect or relate to it on multiple levels.”
– Reddstar

HYRO THE HERO showcases his visceral blend of intense heavy rock and rap vocals with his new single, a fist-pumping cover of Busta Rhymes’ platinum 1996 single “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check,” out today (July 13) across digital platforms. Taken from his upcoming studio album BOUND FOR GLORY due September 15 via BETTER NOISE MUSIC, the cover track is accompanied by a lyric video (seen below) which features live-action performance footage of HYRO. Watch it below or directly on YouTube HERE. Stream/download “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check” at https://hyrothehero.ffm.to/woohah.

“‘Woo Hah’ is my shout out to the old school classic hip-hop that made me,” divulges HYRO. “It’s a Hyro the Hero-style spin on a track that taught me how to recognize the importance of standing out as an artist compared to everyone else. Busta Rhymes was spitting fire on this track, so you know I had to come correct.”

Born and raised in Houston, TX, HYRO has timed the release of “Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check” to align with today marking 713 Day, an unofficial holiday which celebrates all things Houston that’s named after the city’s oldest area code. HYRO has curated a special Spotify playlist, “Hyro The Hero: H-Town Playlist,” of songs inspired by or from his hometown including artists ranging from 80’s rockers King’s X to rapper Mike Jones along with some of his own tracks including the recently released BOUND FOR GLORY single “Sho Nuff.” Listen to the Hyro The Hero: H-Town Playlist on Spotify now HERE.

HYRO, who is currently living in France, teamed up with Houston Chronicle to share his fondest memories of previous 713 Day festivities and a list of his “Top 10 Must Visit” places in Houston including the best restaurants, parks, clubs and more. Head over to Houston Chronicle’s Entertainment page to see all of his recommendations and read about how growing up in H-Town impacted his music career.

BOUND FOR GLORY features 12-tracks encompassing HYRO’s long journey to achieving success in music and the ups and downs it has put him through. “Sometimes you may have to go through fires, climb mountains, go face-to-face with enemies and maybe even leap tall buildings in a single bound,” says HYRO. “Somehow you keep going no matter what difficulties may arise because a fire inside is the energy that drives you and there’s a voice inside reminding you that you’re ‘Bound For Glory.’ My album is that voice and that fire is the music on this record.” BOUND FOR GLORY was recorded and produced by Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead) and includes guest appearances from David Draiman (Disturbed), Brandon Saller (Atreyu), Spencer Charnas and Dan Sugarman (Ice Nine Kills), Chad Gray (Hellyeah), AJ Channer (Fire From The Gods), REDDSTAR and Markus Videsäter (Solence). (Credit: Christian Lawrence)

After pulverizing stages across North America on the first leg of their headlining “SPIRITS 2023” tour earlier this spring, including sold-out shows in NYC, Philadelphia, Sacramento and Toronto, 3x Grammy-nominated rockers NOTHING MORE will continue to bring their potent live experience to audiences throughout 2023.Following their return from headlining shows and festival appearances across Europe, NOTHING MORE will join fellow Top 10 rock acts Godsmack and Staind on their North American co-headlining trek from July 18 to August 31. Next, they’ll launch the second U.S. leg of their “SPIRITS 2023” headlining tour this fall with support from DEAD POET SOCIETY, HYRO THE HERO (rap-rocker and Better Noise Music labelmate), and POST PROFIT. Starting July 23 in Albany, NY at The Fillmore Charlotte, the produced by Live Nation tour will stretch across the South before making its final stop at The Fillmore Charlotte in Charlotte, NC on September 25. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 16 at 10:00 A.M. local time at https://nothingmore.net/. See below for a list of all upcoming shows.

On their new album SPIRITS, NOTHING MORE combine unapologetically massive anthems, catchy hooks, and progressive music with introspective, philosophical lyrics and thought-provoking emotionalism. The album documents the tumultuous time the world experienced over the past two years, capturing the desperation and isolation of lockdown, the spiral of substance abuse, the pain of broken relationships, and survival in self-reliance. These concepts were further explored with the development of their very own meta-personality test, SPIRITS TEST, designed by frontman Jonny Hawkins—similar to tests such as Myers-Briggs, Big 5 and the Zodiac—which results in finding out one’s “Spirit Type,” one of seven personality characters based on the test’s results. The “Spirit Types” and their origin story are further detailed in the band’s first-ever graphic novel “SPIRITS VOL.1” out now via Z2 Comics.

NOTHING MORE recently shared a new version of SPIRITS heartfelt single “Best Times” featuring Lacey Sturm (Flyleaf). Watch the music video HERE

To coincide with the tour announcement, NOTHING MORE will drop a limited-edition reverse artwork translucent smoke variant vinyl version of SPIRITS along with a new “Fuse” SPIRIT TYPE t-shirt. These will be offered individually or bundled together with the “SPIRITS VOL.1” graphic novel, in addition to a limited number of hand-signed bundles being offered. See all the new merch options available at https://store.nothingmore.net/.

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
‘BOUND FOR GLORY’
DUE SEPTEMBER 15 VIA BETTER NOISE MUSIC

Disruptive rap-rocker HYRO THE HERO has released a thunderous new single, “Sho Nuff,” today, June 9, across all digital platforms. Inspired by one of his favorite movies, the 1985 martial arts comedy The Last Dragon, the video for “Sho Nuff” was was filmed at a movie theater in Nantes, FR (where HYRO currently resides) with director Valentin Clemot and parodies scenes from the film. Stream/download “Sho NuffHERE. Watch the music video streaming below or directly via YouTube HERE.

“‘Sho Nuff’ is an action-packed movie full of huge explosions and abuzz with activity,” says HYRO of the song. “It’s self-esteem put on record inspired by one of my favorite movies as a kid, ‘The Last Dragon.’ I’ve always wanted to make a song that exuded the confidence of Sho’nuff and the heroism portrayed by Bruce Leroy.

This song is all about attitude,” HYRO adds. “I was in the zone at the moment of recording, so I didn’t even write, I freestyled this whole song. The place I feel comfortable and confident is in front of the microphone with amazing music. I felt like Godzilla, so I rapped about being Godzilla. I felt I got that glow like Bruce Leroy did, so I had to stamp it with the words ‘Sho Nuff.’ Matt Good helped create the perfect music to allow me to do that.”

HYRO is also excited to announce his new full-length album, BOUND FOR GLORY, will be released on September 15 via Better Noise Music. The 12-track album will be his third release and was recorded and produced by Matt Good (Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead). It will include “Sho Nuff” and his recently released single “Head Under Water (feat. REDDSTAR & Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills).” Pre-order BOUND FOR GLORY now at https://hyrothehero.ffm.to/boundforglory.

On the motivation for his new album, HYRO shares, “It’s been a long journey to try and achieve my dreams in music. The failures I’ve faced along the way are scars that heal and teach lessons. Sometimes you may have to go through fires, climb mountains, go face-to-face with enemies and maybe even leap tall buildings in a single bound. But somehow you keep going no matter what difficulties may arise because a fire inside is the energy that drives you, and a voice inside keeps letting you know that you’re Bound For Glory. My album is that voice and that fire is the music on this record.”

Explosive rap-rocker HYRO THE HERO joins the conversation on mental health with his compelling new single “Head Under Water,” featuring guest vocals from alternative rock group REDDSTAR and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills. The musically fiery single details the Houston, TX-raised artist’s personal battle with depression with its leading lyrics stating:

“Dark clouds around my head/
I ain’t feeling fine.
Immediate help, I need a hotline.
I’ve been feeling like this for a long time.”

As “Head Under Water” progresses, the lyrics show HYRO’s resilience in fighting those dark thoughts and his determination to block them out entirely. Available today (May 5) across all digital platforms, stream/download “Head Under Water (feat. Reddstar and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills)” now at https://hyrothehero.ffm.to/headunderwater. Check out the animated lyric video streaming below or HERE.

“It was such an epic feeling to have the first single off my new album be ‘Head Under Water ft Reddstar and Dan Sugarman of Ice Nine Kills,’” relates HYRO. “There’s such intense emotion we conveyed through this track that I hope listeners will be able to connect with it. It’s a deep dive into depression and the dark thoughts that arise when struggling with life’s problems. When you feel like you have nobody to talk to or that can understand, it can lead to terrible things. Mental health is no longer a taboo subject and it’s being brought up in discussion throughout society today, so I wanted to touch on it because I know the feeling first-hand.”

“I knew when I heard this track that we had something,” shares REDDSTAR. “Not only does the song have a lot of meaning but I like how Hyro and I approached it from our own perspectives. I do believe when people listen to this that so many will be able to connect or relate to it on multiple levels.”

“‘Head Under Water’ is as authentic and real as a song can get,” comments SUGARMAN. “The second I heard this track, I knew I needed to be a part of it. Feeding off the raw rock energy, I dug deep to bring as many melodic and off-the-wall guitar elements to the table as I possibly could. Playing through a slurred drunken swagger, the solo and guitar playing gets more concise and razor sharp as the song progresses. Hyro and Reddstar spit the sickest flows and heaviest lyrics I’ve ever heard, and that meant that I needed to do the same. Moments before I started to write and record I got a call from my doctor with the most terrifying medical news that a person could get, so I poured myself into this solo, and into this song. Q&A WITH HYRO THE HERO, 2019

After five years following the release of your debut album Birth, School, Work, Death, you’ve come back with a new album, new label and a reinvigorated message on modern day society. What happened over that time period to bring you to where you are today?

HYRO: The time period in between now and my last album was one of growth and patience, I took some time to improve musically and let the game come to me. I dove into different genres, learned to produce, learn song structure and found ways I could bring my message to the people in the most powerful way possible. That is why Flagged Channel is so important to me, it’s the re-introduction of Hyro The Hero.

Over the past year there’s been a resurgence of bands in the ‘rap rock’ genre with up-and-coming artists including yourself, Fever 333, HO99O9, and even those like Lil Peep and Post Malone who’ve gained commercial success. While most have been likened to taking influence from Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Korn – whose guitarist Munky guested on your album-, etc…what do you feel you bring to the table with FLAGGED CHANNEL? How do you stand out from the rest?

HYRO: It has been amazing seeing the genre grow the way it has been. I’ve been a man on a mission since the MySpace days blending the rock and rap sound. It’s what started me off back in 2005 when I was sampling sick riffs and breakdowns and rapping to them with hip hop beats on my first mixtape, Gangsta Rock.

The catalyst for my music style comes from an emotional place. My powerful words need very powerful music behind them. All of this combined with my talent of rocking the mic lyrically like no other is what separates me from the rest.
Do you feel there’s still a negative association with the term ‘rap rock’ in the public perspective? If so, why do you feel this is the case? Does that ever make you feel pressured to have to constantly elaborate or explain your music when talking to others?

HYRO: Yeah, there is still a negative connotation with it, but with all these sick bands we have now and the diverse styles of it–thatis going to change real soon. There is a coolness to it like never before which comes from influence from the trap sound that is popular in this day and age–the style bleeds over.

I’m proud to tell people about it because I know when they listen, they are gonna become instant fans.

You’ve also dabbled a bit in the EDM scene with a remix contest for your single “Bullet” and most recently you appeared on a track with Crankdat, “Monster.”  Can you share how that came about?

HYRO: My lawyer Eric German set it up! He shows me so much love and always has his ear out for stuff he knows I would be good on. Once the song was sent, I killed it and Crankdat loved it. It was dope because Crankdat would hum little ideas through voice text message so I could go in and try them out so he would have more to play with while building the track.

How do you feel that your music relates or overlaps with fans of that genre? Are you a fan of EDM music?

HYRO: It’s all energy. Once I am giving the people the energy they desire, it will translate perfectly. We are in a turn-up era, people want loud and energetic feelings. The only thing I believe is missing is true emotion in rapping today. Eminem and Tupac, for example, had that. I believe I bring that part back, so no matter what genre I take part in, it will hit the audience hard.

Everyone claims their live show is “energetic,” “insane” or “off the walls,” but your performance literally is “off the walls,” as you’re no stranger to climbing stage scaffoldings, jumping off amps, hanging off stairs and even flying off the stage itself. Can you share with us what goes through your mind when you’re on stage?

HYRO: Haha, Yea, I’m actually hurt right now. My ankle is f*cked up, but adrenaline fixes that every time I’m on stage. The thing with me is I’m spitting so much lyrics from my heart that I have no choice but to emotionally be involved in it–it’s spiritual for me and an expression I get to let out. I’m so chill in real life that people can’t believe it’s me on stage. Something takes over and my body just does what it feels.

Speaking of stages, you’ve played everything from bars and clubs to amphitheaters and huge festivals, and even a cruise ship! So, tell us… does size matter?

HYRO: Size of the place doesn’t matter to me so long as I’m in front of people. I feel blessed to rock at festivals with lots of people and blessed to be intimate with fans up close rocking small stages. Either way it goes, I want each person to feel I’m talking directly to them.
You’ve got a busy summer. You’re doing a run of dates with P.O.D.,then you’re heading out on the new Rockstar Energy Disrupt Festival and in between all that you’ll be on some of the biggest festivals like Afropunk, Welcome to Rockville, Rocklahoma, and Epicenter. How does that feel?

HYRO: Absolutely incredible, dream come true type sh*t. Words can’t begin to describe it.
What else in the works for HYRO THE HERO?

HYRO: I’m working on new music and will be focused on hitting the road this summer with all of these shows lined up. I just want to do an amazing job with my band and kill every show, all while leaving people with feeling like they got a message after seeing my set.

HYRO THE HERO refuses to slow down or back down following a highly energized sold-out performance in February in Los Angeles, CA with Nothing More and Of Mice & Men, along with a boat-rocking set on the ShipRocked Cruise earlier this year. He’s returned with a new music video for the pulverizing new single, “Never Back Down.”

Featuring his signature blend of infectious modern rock riffs overlaid with invigorating rap vocals, which Uncivil Revolt described as being “a combination between Tupac and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine,” HYRO THE HERO stays true to himself in the video for “Never Back Down.”

HYRO further elaborates stating, “Behind the scenes was so much fun with me and my band taking on different roles and expressing the fight of keeping your integrity and not falling prey to what is hot now. I love making music and want to see it rise to the top and staying true to myself in the process, without ever backing down.”

Directed by Brian Cox of Flarelight Films (Hollywood Undead, Butcher Babies), “Never Back Down” can be seen streaming on Consequence of Sound HERE who state, “‘Never Back Down’ is aggressive throughout, showing Hyro’s love of hip-hop and rock,” or stream it directly below:
