DAVIS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP
AND
STRONG MANAGEMENT
MERGE TO FORM NEW COMPANY
UNCHAINED MANAGEMENT, MUSIC AND MEDIA

(Unchained Management, Music & Media Team [l-r] Kenny Gabor, Steve Davis, Vaughn Lewis)

(January 27, 2021, New York, NY) STRONG MANAGEMENT founder/co-owner VAUGHN LEWIS and co-owner KENNY GABOR have joined forces with DAVIS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP founder STEVE DAVIS to form the new joint company UNCHAINED MANAGEMENT, MUSIC & MEDIA.

Based out of NYC, the company’s roster will combine their current clientele which includes (in alphabetical order): Big Chocolate, Brothers Born, Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, CKY, The Contortionist, Disfiguring The Goddess, Entheos, Esmé Patterson, Havok, Killswitch Engage, Light The Torch, Lorna Shore, Loss Becomes, Memphis May Fire, Ministry, Monster Magnet, Oxymorrons, Queensryche, Revocation, Serpentine Dominion, Temple of the Black Moon, The Agonist, Through The Eyes of the Dead, Times of Grace, Whitechapel and William Elliot Whitmore.

“Having had the pleasure of being surrounded by both talented artists and executives for many, many years I could not be more thrilled to be moving forward in my career with Vaughn and Kenny,” shares DAVIS. “I have known them both as friends, colleagues and confidants for over a decade. We share a love of music, a love for those who create it, and a friendship that I cherish. Our common goals, passions, trust amongst us, shared moral compasses and a combined wealth of experience make this collaboration one I am extremely excited and proud of.”

DAVIS has spent the past 35-plus years of his life dedicated to making music part of his career after joining the concert committee at his alma matter, Hofstra University. He worked his way up the ladder and was a talent agent for 10 years at Associated Booking Corporation, Premier Talent and the William Morris Agency where he oversaw negotiations for concerts and helped book national tours for many artists including B.B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Dr. John, The Replacements, The Ramones, The Clash, Talking Heads, The Who, Bon Jovi, David Byrne and Big Audio Dynamite, just to name a few. After leaving the agency world, DAVIS spent nine years as the Senior Vice President of Artist Development at Atlantic Records launching and helping grow the careers of an incredibly talented and varied roster of artists. For the past 17 years, Steve has owned and operated the full-service management company, Davis Entertainment Group.

“Steve Davis has been a friend and trusted confidant for many years and I am excited to move forward in this new venture with him,” says LEWIS. “He is one of the smartest, genuine, honest and forward thinking people I know and his vision moving forward in this business and the common goal we share of putting artists first will make for an amazing team.”

LEWIS founded Strong Management in 1996 after leaving his career in investment banking to go on tour with his friends in NYC punk rock band H2O. Making the most of his experience, LEWIS quickly graduated from merch seller to tour manager and eventually to manager over the course of just three months on the road and continued to spend a full year on tour with the band spanning North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

“We’ve been talking with Steve about teaming up for quite some time, and it seems there’s no better time than now,” shares GABOR. “He’s a visionary with a ton of experience and success under his belt, and he’s also a great friend.  When it comes to our artists, we all speak the same language, and I couldn’t be more thrilled of what’s to come.”

Queens, NY natives GABOR and LEWIS met while attending Stuyvesant High School and would subsequently attend college together at SUNY Binghamton. GABOR would spend his spare time helping LEWIS review contracts and advance shows during his final year at Brooklyn Law School and after graduating and passing the bar, GABOR spent a year of legal practice before partnering with LEWIS at Strong Management in 1997.

Strong Management has achieved national and international success over its 25 years of existence with a diverse roster of acts including Killswitch Engage, William Elliott Whitmore, H2O, As I Lay Dying, Oxymorrons and D Generation to name a few.  They have also helped foster the careers of highly accomplished producers such as Rob Caggiano and Adam Dutkiewicz and esteemed Chef Brian Tsao.  With the addition of Chicago-based manager Jason Rudolph in 2011, Strong’s roster has expanded to include acts such as Memphis May Fire, CKY, The Contortionist, Esme Patterson & Lorna ShoreStrong Management’s acts have been recognized for their achievements including multiple Grammy nominations, prime time television performances, and song placements on highly successful TV shows, motion pictures and video games.  They have performed on some of the biggest festivals and stages in the world and have sold millions of records worldwide.  All the while, their proudest achievement remains the strong bonds they have been able to build with their artists throughout the years

UNCHAINED MANAGEMENT, MUSIC & MEDIA will continue to nurture and develop those bonds with the strength and passion put forth by LEWIS, GABOR, DAVIS and RUDOLPH in this new venture. While continuing to grow the careers of current clients, and eventually adding to their management roster, UNCHAINED also look forward to expanding their activities beyond management within the entertainment sphere.

LEE ROCKER Shares Video For “Graceland Auctions”—New Album ‘Gather Round’ Out Today

DT: JANUARY 22, 2020

FM: MITCH SCHNEIDER/ANDREA FAULK, SRO PR

LEE ROCKER
OF THE STRAY CATS
SHARES VIDEO FOR
“GRACELAND AUCTIONS”
TO MARK TODAY’S RELEASE OF NEW SOLO ALBUM
‘GATHER ROUND’
WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

LEE ROCKER of The Stray Cats fame marks today’s (January 22) release of his new solo album GATHER ROUND on Upright Records (his label distributed through Orchard) by sharing the Elvis-themed video for “Graceland Auctions.” Watch the fun-filled video, directed by Justin Drucker and starring ROCKER with his band, here.

One of the album’s standout songs, “Graceland Auctions” “came about by my lifelong obsession with Presley,” explains the Grammy-nominated upright bass player, singer and songwriter. “I’ve been a bit of a collector and have bid and bought various Elvis stuff. “It makes me laugh and it makes me want to cry.”

GATHER ROUND is ROCKER’s first album of all-original music, with the exception of his cover of The Band’s classic “Ophelia,” since 2007’s Black Cat Bone (Alligator Records). The sizzling 10-track rockabilly album was produced by ROCKER (vocal, string bass), who is joined by Buzz Campbell (guitar, backing vocal), Larry Mitchell (drums, percussion) and Matt Jordan (piano, organ). Two songs with videos—Doghouse Shuffleand Pickin’ and Grinnin’”—were released ahead of the album. Watch the trailer here, read a ROCKER interview with Kelli Skye Fadroski of the Orange County Register/SCNG here, and listen to him on the Rock Solid Podcast with Pat Francis here.

Most of the songs on GATHER ROUND were written after the pandemic started. “My wife Deborah and I hit the road in our airstream and criss-crossed the country from California to New York and back,” shares ROCKER. “We rolled through 20 states from north to south and from east to west. In addition to the pandemic, the presidential election was raging. I wrote songs and music and drove 6,000 miles. It’s been year filled with global disaster and uncertainty. It’s also been a time of introspection and for me a time to reimagine how to record an album under these circumstances.

“When we returned to Southern California,” he elaborates, “I booked a studio to record in one day week for months. I played many of the instruments myself and had my band, Buzz Campbell, Larry Mitchell and Matt Jordan send me their tracks from remote home studios.”

Opening track “Gather Round” powerfully gets the album rolling.” It’s a song of positivity, of love, joy and happiness. When I wrote and now listen to the song, I feel like I’m raising my middle finger high in the air and waving it to 2020.”

“The Last Offline Lovers” is a song “I wrote to my wife Deborah. We’ve been together for 32 years and she has been my inspiration, love, and strength. All of the instruments on this are acoustic and I played all of them with the exception of the drums performed by Larry Mitchell.”

Another album highlight is “When Nothing’s Going Right,” a song ROCKER wrote that appears on the Stray Cats’ album last year, 40. “This is the original version I recorded before the Stray Cats’ version. I feel it has that spark of original fire.”

ROCKER minces no words and looks to brighter day on “Pickin’ and Grinnin.” He says: “I wrote this song as my statement on Trump and the dividing of this country which I love. We all need to reside in the UNITED states of America. Come together gather round. I know that we all can’t agree on everything but we should be able to agree we live in a democracy and that every four years we have an election that should be respected.”

ROCKER’s infectious party spirit is in full effect on “‘Dog House Shuffle.” “It’s just plain fun!  It’s really my tribute to the original rocking bass players that have influenced me so much. These guys are in a way the unsung heroes of rockabilly and early rock. We’ve incorporated these players into the video.”

Last year, in a multiple-page feature in the new Bass Player magazine (December 2019), ROCKER was asked about his ability to come up with fresh rockabilly bass-lines. He says: “I’m still discovering things. I still have revelations: ‘how did I not think of this before?’ There are a lot of different rhythms and slaps, and different ways to walk your bass-lines. There’s only 12 notes but there’s an infinite number of ways to play them.”

The GATHER ROUND track listing is:

1. Gather Round
2. Graceland Auctions
3. The Last Offline Lovers
4. Everybody Wants to be A Cat
5. Pickin’ and Grinnin’
6. Every Time I See You
7. A Dirty Martini
8. When Nothing’s Going Right
9. Dog House Shuffle
10. Ophelia

About Lee Rocker:

Lee Rocker made his mark singing, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass in the legendary music group The Stray Cats. Grammy-nominated, The Stray Cats have sold nearly 10 million albums and garnered an astounding 23 gold and platinum certified records worldwide. Founded by Rocker, Brian Setzer, and Slim Jim Phantom, The Stray Cats remain a radio staple, were music video pioneers at the infancy of MTV, and repeatedly brought rockabilly music to the top of the charts. From the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine, to appearing on Saturday Night Live, to headlining music festivals and touring with the Rolling Stones, Lee Rocker has seen and done it all. In addition to The Stray Cats and the Rolling Stones, Rocker has toured and performed with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, and John Fogerty.  In 1982, Rocker and his father Stanley Drucker, (classical clarinetist) both received Grammy nominations; this was something that has only occurred twice in the history of the Grammy Awards.  In 2012 Lee appeared on Broadway in the hit musical “Million Dollar Quartet” and in 2014 he was inducted into the Bass Player Hall of Fame. Rocker has received numerous honors for his contributions to music and the arts, including being inducted to the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame and he is a recipient of the Visionary Artist Award by the City of Laguna Beach California. Lee Rocker and his band look forward to touring again and performing Stray Cats hits including “Rock This Town,” “Stray Cat Strut” and “Sexy and 17” as well as slamming renditions of songs from his many solo albums.

TASH SULTANA Releases “Sweet & Dandy” From New Album ‘Terra Firma’ Out February 19

DATE: JANUARY 22, 2021

TASH SULTANA
RELEASES “SWEET & DANDY”
AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE/STREAM/WATCH NOW

NEW ALBUM ‘TERRA FIRMA’ OUT FEBRUARY 19
PRE ORDER | PRE SAVE NOW

ARIA Award winner TASH SULTANA has today released another taste from their sophomore album, “Sweet & Dandy,” out now on Mom + Pop Music.

CHECK OUT ‘SWEET & DANDY’ HERE

Marking the fifth track from the upcoming TERRA FIRMA album out February 19, ‘Sweet & Dandy’ is recognizably TASH SULTANA, but deeper and more nuanced. The song is a slinky indictment on the internet era’s information overload with them asking the questions “But where’s the wisdom? Where’s the knowledge?”

Sweet & Dandy’ is about the process of withdrawing yourself from negative distractions and living in the present, always remembering that you are enough,” TASH explains. “You and you alone, you do not need the world to tell you to be a certain way.”

With a title inspired by the need to slow down and re-ground, TERRA FIRMA is the work of a more confident, dynamic and experienced musician. The manifestation of a period of self-reflection in which TASH slowed down to find time for surfing, studio, family, gardening and a healthy balance from the hectic touring lifestyle that defined their existence.

“I didn’t realize that I needed to create a space and home for myself to feel like a person again,” TASH says. “I just went inward and found a really peaceful place and wrote an album, and I feel really happy with it.”

Returning to earth after the dizzying heights of success, TERRA FIRMA is the sound of a more content and grounded TASH. Spiritually, the album finds the artist reconnecting to their roots, reminding themselves who they are and what it means to be human. Musically however, its 14 tracks take root into far-reaching sonic territory.

Almost every note on TERRA FIRMA was once again composed, arranged, performed, engineered and produced by TASH. But to kick-start a new era, the solo star–for the first time–opened themselves up to collaborators, starting with a 10-day writing session with fellow ARIA-winning Australian musician Matt Corby and producer Dann Hume (Courtney Barnett, Amy Shark, Angus & Julia Stone).

TERRA FIRMA was made with a lot of effort but feels effortless. Its intoxicating grooves and hypnotic riffs are instantly inviting, but with depth that reveals its rewards the more you absorb it.

Forever thinking of future career steps, TASH has assembled a live band to bring the record to life on stage (whenever that’s safe to do so). “The new live show is everything the live show already was, plus three other musicians on the stage for a small section of the show.” And they’re already greasing the wheels to begin producing and mentoring other artists.

Keen to get back out on the road doing what they love, TASH will be performing at WOMADelaide (Australia) in March. For more information on this show, head HERE, and for information on all other 2021 touring dates head HERE.

For TERRA FIRMA though, the goal seemed simple: to make music that comes from a place that’s real and from the heart. “Because if it does, you’ll never fuck up,” TASH reflects. “I just really wanted to like the art I was putting out…I just wanted to feel better, be better, perform better, play better, sing better. To be a better musician.”

ABOUT TASH SULTANA

Since dropping their debut album two years ago, TASH has only gone from strength to strength in a career already abundant with highlights. With over one billion total worldwide streams, 500,000 tickets sold globally including a sold out Red Rocks Amphitheatre, performing stand-out sets at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and more, TASH has also made their U.S. debut TV performance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

In Australia, TASH’s debut album FLOW STATE was nominated for six ARIA Awards including winning the ARIA for Blues and Roots Album Of The Year and they undertook a massive sold out Australian headline tour with over 70,000 tickets around the country. Jungle’ and ‘Notion’ are ARIA accredited 2x Platinum, while Mystik’, ‘Murder to the Mind’ and the NOTION EP all ARIA accredited Gold.

TASH SULTANA’s sophomore album TERRA FIRMA will be released February 19 on Mom + Pop Music. Previous press releases about TASH are here.

WARDRUNA ‘Kvitravn’ Out Worldwide Today (January 22) via BY NORSE MUSIC and SONY MUSIC/COLUMBIA RECORDS

FM: KELLY WALSH, SRO PR

TRADITIONAL NORDIC FOLK OUTFIT
WARDRUNA
ANTICIPATED NEW ALBUM
KVITRAVN
OUT WORLDWIDE TODAY, JANUARY 22

Traditional Nordic folk outfit WARDRUNA’s highly anticipated fifth full-length album KVITRAVN is out today, January 22, worldwide via BY NORSE MUSIC and SONY MUSIC / COLUMBIA RECORDS. Order it on various formats and bundles here: https://wardruna.lnk.to/Kvitravn_Album.

“We are very happy to finally share this long-overdue album with you all,” shares founding member and composer EINAR SELVIK. “In the period leading up to the release, it has been truly overwhelming to see how well you have received the songs we have shared so far. We sincerely hope you will enjoy the rest! For me personally, this album represents a natural continuation and development of everything we have done so far. Through experience, reflection and hungry curiosity, we potentially continue to grow as humans, scholars and musicians and with this constant movement, our ability to dive deeper into our work also grows. More clearly than before, this album and its songs address us as humans in our own time. Even though the songs convey ways and words originating from a distant past, they are still just as much ways and words for the ‘now.’ They are ideas born out of the very grounds we still tread, which is also what gives them the ability to speak to and resonate within us still. Let us listen carefully and sow or reaffirm the idea or attitude that nature is something sacred.”

KVITRAVN marks a distinct evolution in WARDRUNA‘s sound. The album features a broad selection of both traditional and historical instruments such as Kravik-lyre, Trossingen-lyre, Taglharpa, Sotharpa, Langeleik, Crwth, Goat-horn, Lur, Bronze-lur, flute, Moraharpa and also features guest appearances by a small group of prominent traditional singers, spearheaded by Kirsten Bråten Berg, one of the most important custodians of Norwegian traditional song. Throughout its eleven songs, KVITRAVN discusses Northern sorcery, spirit-animals, shadows, nature and animism, the wisdom and meanings of certain myths, various Norse spiritual concepts, and the relation between sage and songs.

The authenticity of WARDRUNA’s performance alongside epic visual landscapes and symbolic animals evoked by the music and lyrics have been showcased in several jaw-dropping videos–some reaching viewers in their millions–starting with the starkly beautiful, minimalist and arguably most political piece, “Grá.” The song is an ode to the wolf, and a reminder that humans and creatures have existed side-by-side in a mutual, though wary, relationship.  The video for title track “Kvitravn“—translated in English to White Raven–reveals a powerful narrative centered around this sacred, elusive creature, and namesake of the album. SELVIK revealed in a special Solstice broadcast of the Skaldic version of album track “Andvevarljod – Song of the Spirit-weavers” that this particular piece was the starting point for the entire album, and explores the Nordic deities of fate; the Norns, the spinning of life threads and the Norse and Sámi common idea that a person’s spirit is connected to wind, both before and after birth. Most recently the lyric video for “Skugge“, recalls the subtle majesty of fan-favorite “Helvegen,” as it seeks answers and wisdom internally. Finally, the stand-alone single “Lyfjaberg” (not featured on the album) is a powerful reminder of some valuable Norse wisdom explained by SELVIK: “To climb the Healing-mountain is a journey for the mind and spirit as much as the feet and body. Anything of true value, comes at a true cost.”

For those looking to delve even deeper into WARDRUNA‘s world, the band have released a four part mini-documentary series which can be viewed on their YouTube channel HERE. In the series, SELVIK guides the viewer more deeply into the thoughts, processes and inspiration behind the music.

SELVIK will be hosting a special live-streamed event as part of That JORVIK Viking Thing online festival on Saturday, February 20 at 7.30 P.M. CET. Tickets can be booked online at jorvikthing.com.

WARDRUNA have also announced a collaboration with 2204 for an exclusive luxury ethically sourced, 100% vegan candle. Out today, the WARDRUNA candle embraces the harshness of the Norwegian forest’s elements and extracts a sense of reincarnation and fulfilment. Order yours now HERE.

Check out some critical praise for KVITRAVN here:

“Wardruna make progressive music: it draws from the past, describes the present and plots the future.”
The Quietus, 1/18/21

“The visceral intensity to this music sports both elegant beauty and grimacing grit. Closer “Andevarljod” encapsulates this balance of scene-setting nuance and infectious spirit. The song’s 11-minute run-time brings some of the most overwhelming crescendos of the band’s career, topped by some incredible vocal performances from Selvik.”
Riff Magazine, 1/20/21

“Haunting, powerful and deeply immersive, it is an unmitigated triumph and a career high for Wardruna.”

Metal Hammer, 1/18/21

“WARDRUNA are displaying to the best of their abilities, masters in their craft, Kvitravn being no exception to that but the strength that holds this album up is unlike anything that could have been expected. Its simplicities make for complex and beautiful soundscapes.”

Distorted Sound, 1/20/21

Watch a video trailer below featuring four minutes of performance footage of EARTHLESS’ 21-minute-long song “Sonic Prayer” below.

“Having the opportunity to set up out in the desert and play how we do was one of the best experiences ever actually,” says EARTHLESS drummer Mario Rubalcaba. “Adding to it the Mad Alchemy liquid lights and the surroundings made for a very satisfying day/night of jamming. Thankful for the label preserving the night by filming and recording this. I hope people can enjoy the release as much as we did doing it.”

Inspired by Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii 1972 concert documentary film, the LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT: VOLUMES 1-5 series will air bi-weekly with additional volumes including NEBULA (February 6), SPIRIT MOTHER (February 20), MOUNTAIN TAMER (March 6) and STONER (March 20)—the new project from ex-Kyuss members Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri.

“In October 2020 we filmed and recorded five bands in four days, deep in the deep sand and iconic rocks of the desert,” shares LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT producer RYAN JONES. “It was a major undertaking to bring this many people and this much gear out to a very remote desert location. Including the bands, we had 25 people onsite daily. With only one road in, everyone and all the gear had to come up a half mile long hill of deep sand–30 miles from nowhere. We had to hire local desert guys with huge 4×4 pickups to help. The Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show projected on a four-story high, double pyramid of boulders and we had a crack squad of filmmakers, photographers and recording engineers there to capture it all. It was insane, but it was worth it to see our favorite bands play again!”

Tickets are on-sale now for each individual stream or bundled as a series pass with the option to add-on a limited Edition ‘Desert Lizard’ event poster featuring artwork by John Howard (QOTSA, Primus, Melvins) as seen below. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee RICHIE FURAY (Buffalo Springfield, Poco, The Souther Hillman Furay Band)–one of the chief architects of the country rock genre–has today (1/15) announced the April 2 release of the live concert album 50TH ANNIVERSARY RETURN TO THE TROUBADOUR (*see his quotes below from the liner notes). It will be released as a double CD and download as well as a single DVD concert film on DSDK Productions, distributed by MRI Entertainment. Pre-save and pre-add the album here.

Recorded with The Richie Furay Band at the iconic Los Angeles venue in November 2018, it is comprised of two powerful sets: “Still DeLIVErin,’ which encompasses Buffalo Springfield songs, favored Poco tunes and some of his finest solo work, and “DeLIVErin’ Again,” a front-to-back performance of Poco’s classic 1971 live album DeLIVErin’ plus their 1972 signature song “A Good Feelin’ To Know” with Timothy B. Schmit (who joined Poco in 1969) on vocals.

Notably, the classic DeLIVErin’ album was released 50 years ago this week. In honor of it, FURAY—noted for his unmistakable soulful voice, evocative songwriting, and hard driving guitar playing–has shared the Troubadour performance of the album’s “Kind Woman,” FURAY’s Buffalo Springfield song, Watch it here and listen to it here.

The Troubadour show was truly a magical evening in many ways. The sold-out concert marked FURAY’s 50th anniversary return to the venue where Poco (originally as Pogo) performed their very first shows in 1968. The evening was marked by Timothy B. Schmit joining FURAY on the Schmit-penned “Hear That Music” from DeLIVErin’ and the above-mentioned “A Good Feelin’ To Know.” Timothy also introduced FURAY onstage

after reading a congratulatory note from Cameron Crowe (who intended being at the Troubadour in person but could not make it at the last minute). Timothy then introduced the esteemed artist and producer Peter Asher (Peter & Gordon), who presented FURAY with a commemorative award for his 50th anniversary return to the Troubadour. Also on hand at the show and backstage was Randy Meisner, Poco’s first bass player before Schmit replaced him.

Here are RICHIE FURAY’s quotes from the liner notes:

“Poco released their first “live” album in 1971, it was called DeLIVErin’; here we are 50+ years later and I have re-recorded this iconic album with my “live” band – RFB!  I don’t know of any other group that has ever re-recorded a live album from their past catalogue and truthfully, I wasn’t sure it could be done either; but, I took on the challenge and now you get to hear it for yourself. In many respects it was a labor of love because I knew how important the ‘original album was to Poco fans and if RFB didn’t meet the standard, it would be a disappointment.  I do not believe you are going to be disappointed.  From my viewpoint, we have met and exceeded any expectations.  Listen for yourself, but I believe we have captured the heart and soul of the music; even Timothy B. got on board to sing one of his originals.  So, I hope you enjoy listening to this recreation – “DeLIVErin’ Again”.  Shut your eyes, pretend you’re one of the wall to wall people at the The Troubadour in Los Angeles, California that November evening and turn it up loud.”

In advance of the worldwide January 22 release of their highly anticipated fifth full-length album KVITRAVN via BY NORSE MUSIC and SONY MUSIC / COLUMBIA RECORDS, the traditional Nordic folk outfit WARDRUNA have shared a new single “Skugge.” Translated to “Shadow” in English, the song traces an eerie sonic journey voicing a dialogue between man and shadow. Its brooding introduction recalls the subtle majesty of fan favorite track “Helvegen” (from their 2013 album Runaljod – Yggdrasil) as WARDRUNA‘s idiosyncratic synthesis of hypnotic percussion and delicate vocal interplay comes to the forefront. The lyric video for “Skugge” was recorded by Ragnarok Film with producer/director Ole Fredrik Wannebo, photographer/editor Toni Kotka and Sverre Brandtzaeg. Watch it below or view it across all streaming platforms along with pre-order options for KVITRAVN HERE.

Each track on KVITRAVN is ingrained with meaning that delves deep into the philosophical, the esoteric, the Nordic myths and how old traditions define human nature and nature itself. “‘Skugge’ feels particularly personal for it shifts the focus inwards,” remarks founding member and composer EINAR SELVIK. “It is a song about shadows, echoes and the balance between seeking answers and wisdom internally and externally. The accompanying lyric video allows the listener to journey deep into Wardruna’s world and offers space for reflection and contemplation, should you submit to it…”

SELVIK was recently announced to headline the JORVIK Viking Festival–the largest Viking festival in Europe—during a special live-streamed event taking place as part of That JORVIK Viking Thing online festival from February 15-20 hosted by the JORVIK Viking Centre. He will talk about his music, demonstrate traditional Nordic instruments, and play some of WARDRUNA’s most recent music. The event will be streamed live from Norway on Saturday, February 20 at 7:30 P.M. CET. Tickets can be found at jorvikthing.com or jorvikvikingcentre.co.uk.

WARDRUNA were last seen stateside in 2018 when they sold-out a headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado and are scheduled to return to North America in fall 2021; the dates and tickets can be found HERE. With a sound that must truly be experienced live, they performed their first-ever concert in front of the 1,500-year-old Gokstad Viking ship in Oslo, NO and are the only band to have ever been allowed to hold an amplified concert at the Viking ship museum. Since then, they’ve performed sold-out shows worldwide, including major festival headlining appearances (Hellfest, Roadburn, Summer Breeze, Castle Fest, Echoes & Merveilles, Rock oz Arenes, Rock The Coast, etc.).

Really digging the Chinatown area of Las Vegas

1/12/2021

Really digging the Chinatown area of Las Vegas, the 3-mile stretch of shopping plazas just west of The Strip. Not only for its vast array of Pan Asian restaurants, but for hipster spots like the Golden Tiki bar and cool non-Asian restaurants too that we’ve yet to try like Taquito Street, Taco Stand, Mas Por Favor, and Sparrow + Wolf.  Lots to recommend like the imaginatively prepared Thai food + those seductive chandeliers at Lamaii; the eclectic LaMoon (coffee + desserts +  Thai specialties); and the Asian pastries at Diamond Bakery + Crown Bakery. Next on the list to try: Take It Easy, the coffee-anchored spot with cheese-filled Colombian breads, plus the cavernous Gabi Coffee and Bakery.
