TASH SULTANA–multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer-songwriter, engineer, and entrepreneur–is making waves with the announcement of their upcoming EP, SUGAR, set for release August 11 via their own label, Lonely Lands Records, and available for pre-order now here. In advance of the EP, TASH has released a new track, “Bitter Lovers,” out July 5. The song–which follows two previous singles, “James Dean” and “New York”–takes a different turn with a collaboration featuring American soul R&B artist BJ The Chicago Kid. The song showcases their combined exceptional chemistry and creative synergy. The journey began when BJ shared a demo with Tash during their tour in September 2022.

TASH explains, “Pretty sure it’s like any typical modern-day music collab. We had been following each other for a while cause I’m a fan of what he does, and lo and behold, one morning, I woke up, and there was a nice little message in my DM’s from BJ saying, ‘let’s fucking do a track.’ Now here we are.”

TASH began working on the track in their own Lonely Lands Studio laying down the verse and chorus harmonies and flipping the ending with beat sampling, heavy basslines, and a sax solo. But the missing piece wasn’t filled until February 2023, with the final touches laid in person at a Los Angeles studio. BJ’s verse was crafted on the spot, and the harmonies were laid before the verse, an interesting approach to working almost completely backwards.

“It means something different to both of us, which is why we decided to split a verse each and come together in the chorus,’ TASH explains. “For me, some people just think you’re going to be waiting around forever, in any capacity, for a friend, lover, or family member. I got boundaries with people, and that’s what I’m getting at in this track.”

“This was one I had in the stash waiting for a good home, or I would use it myself,” BJ says. “So happy Tash loved it as much as myself. This one will only get better with time.”

SUGAR was co-engineered, produced, composed and arranged by TASH who played every single instrument on the EP. TASH–who withheld releasing any new projects for over two years–came into the EP with a refreshing perspective, described as a combination of past, present and future workings. The new release embodies their commitment to innovation and artistic exploration. Fans will hear this as a teaser of an “album cut in half.”

TASH reveals that the EP’s theme serves as a reflection piece, encapsulating their life from 2021 to 2023. It is a captivating storytelling experience incorporating cryptic wording and musical style, leaving the true message open to interpretation. TASH ensures that no one will ever fully discover the true meaning of the message.

TASH wrote the songs for the SUGAR in the comfort of their own home, studio, and mind, with their notebook serving as a creative companion throughout the journey. This intimate environment allowed TASH to explore their musical vision and fully bring it to life.

Fans of TASH can expect a mature approach in this EP, as it artfully blends sonics of past works NOTION, FLOW STATE and TERRA FIRMA. TASH skillfully weaves these elements together, imparting the lessons learned from the present moment. Singer songwriter BRIE is set to drop her new single, “The Thrill” on June 29 via all streaming platforms. The track–the first in a series of songs set for release via 12WIRED–highlights her coming-of-age guilty pleasures with a sprinkle of attitude. Produced by Norwegian producer Peder Elthom-Idsøe, “The Thrill” is a bouncy, seductive R&B/pop track highlighting the underlying tension that boils beneath the allure of the forbidden fruit in one’s reckless youth. Simply put, people know they are attracted to things that would cause them more harm than good. A video for the track will follow in the coming weeks.

We all have our vices. But if it were not for R&B/pop singer/songwriter BRIE‘s addiction to overindulgence during her adolescent years, perhaps she would never have arrived at where she is now. BRIE’s constant hunger for experiencing new buzzes in her process of self-discovery has consistently led to many regrets. But instead of dwelling on past mistakes like most youngsters would, BRIE thrives on such episodes as she embraces the adrenaline kick they bring. And the result was “The Thrill.”

“Stop with that, hey/You’ve crossed the line/The thrill of being wrong makes all we did feel so right,” sings 24-year-old BRIE as she takes us on a voyage in pursuing “conventionally wrong things,” something present-day BRIE would not be necessarily proud of, but would forever be grateful for.

“I think it has become this do-not-try-this-at-home kind of song,” the singer, whose real name is Tiffany Gabriella, explains. “However, it is okay to screw up and get into sticky situations occasionally, as long as it leads you back to yourself. I am a cautionary tale, but I still think I made all the right mistakes.”

Written in under ten minutes, “The Thrill” was produced after a short phone call between Los Angeles-based producer Peder and BRIE. Together, they swiftly refashioned her unwise romantic mishaps into a provocative dance symphony with hooks galore. Placing BRIE‘s trademark vocals at the forefront, “The Thrill” also showcases her eloquent wordplay.

“I still remember listening to the song’s initial demo for the first time and instantly falling in love with it. We just made a few small tweaks here and there, and that was it!” BRIE reminisces.

As the first single primed to kickstart her ongoing coming-of-age narrative, BRIE believes that “The Thrill” will serve as the ideal entry point for this new chapter of her musical journey, as well as a fitting ending to a period in her life she no longer resonates with.

As BRIE strives to continue creating her own sonic palette that represents the fun and games along with the trials and tribulations of growing up as a strong young woman, her listeners may find something very personal to them in her music.

Iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and 3-time Grammy award-winner BRIAN SETZER has confirmed a 12-date fall tour coinciding with a new solo album due in the upcoming months via Surfdog Records–more details coming soon. Marking his first live shows in over four years, the “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour will kick off September 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ and includes stops in Nashville, TN (at the historic Ryman Auditorium), Foxwoods Casino, Cincinnati, Chicago (Waukegan) and others before wrapping in Minneapolis (his adopted hometown).

For these dates, SETZER will be joined by, in his words, an “international rockabilly band, Chris D’Rozario from Melbourne, Australia and Juan Laurios from Mexico City.”

“I’ve had a pretty long break, and I needed it. I’m renewed and really want to play live again. I want to just get out on the road with this kick-ass little 3-piece band and start playing.”

The shows will be highlighted by SETZER’s guitar assault and rockin’ style on the most electrifying songs from his 40-year career as a solo artist, leader of The Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a Stray Cat. He adds, “I think fans can always expect that I’m going to play the hits. I also want to play some solo guitar and little things I’ve worked out by myself. I’ve never really gotten to do that, so it’s going to be something new.”

His set lists will include “some of the favorite covers I’m doing now. I haven’t recorded it, but I really like playing my version of ‘Georgia On My Mind.’ And then with the band, I want to play a new song ‘Girl On The Billboard’ because it tells a fun story.”

These shows come as BRIAN is preparing to release a new solo album due in the fall, his first since 2021’s GOTTA HAVE THE RUMBLE. Additional details about the forthcoming album will be announced in the coming weeks.

Walking the fine line between outlaw country and hard rock, the North Bay, ON native is undoubtedly himself, not just as a musician, but as a person. Growing up, CORY developed passions for hockey, flying, and playing the drums like his hero, Rush’s Neil Peart, before he began performing live music at a local bar while studying to become a fighter pilot.

“‘Psycho’ is one of those songs that is talking about when you feel trapped inside your own head, trapped by your own vices and your own downfalls,” explains BRUCE. “Whether it’s being stuck in a relationship that doesn’t work for you, or feeling like you can’t stop drinking or doing drugs, or maybe you’re stuck in a job that you hate, and you’re just battling yourself in your own head wondering ‘why am I still here? Emotional rock outfit THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT are excited to share their take on Radiohead’s iconic debut 1992 single “Creep” with a riveting cover that showcases their theatrical and impassioned sound. The single is out today, June 18, across all streaming platforms via Better Noise Music, listen/download “Creep” HERE. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT are releasing the song in partnership with The Hot Topic Foundation, to further their support of non-profit music, art, LGBTQ+ and mental health organizations for youth and teens.

“Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ is a legendary song that has been loved for over 30 years,” shares vocalist Lee Jennings. “The track embodies what The Funeral Portrait stands for and is the perfect song to represent our fans, The Coffin Crew. It’s a song for the weirdos and the people who feel like they just don’t fit in.”

Jennings adds: “We have teamed up with The Hot Topic Foundation, a foundation that we hold close to our hearts, to release this cover. They work hand in hand with incredible organizations like Mental Health America and The Trevor Project. Lauded as one of Alternative Press’ “100 Bands You Need to Know,” THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT have relentlessly toured across the country opening for acts including Shinedown, Underoath, Skillet, From Ashes To New, Starset and Pvris as well as being featured on the main stage at Inkcarceration Festival. The band’s intention for their music is to represent ‘outcasts’ from all walks of life–the weird, the misunderstood, the marginalized–and offer a safe and accepting community.

To celebrate the June 9 release of their debut album LISTEN!, Las Vegas-based modern rock band CRASHING WAYWARD have shared a track-by-track breakdown of the album

in the below video which can also be seen directly via YouTube HERE In the clip, frontman and songwriter PETER SUMMIT talks about what inspired each of the album’s 11 songs (see the transcript below). The band is also thrilled to announce a special immersive record release show at The Industrial Sound in Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 28 starting at 8:00 P.M.

The event will kick off with a performance from the band and include art installations from worldwide-renowned graphic artist, designer and muralist Dave Persue (who also designed the show flyer seen above). Lauded illustrator, street artist and tattoo designer Mike Giant will also appear and has created a special edition print which will be available exclusively at the show and limited to 100 copies total. 1. Mouth To God’s Ear
– “Mouth To God’s Ear,” was inspired by just that phrase, “Mouth To God’s Ear,” and when David Harris presented the music to this track, it wrote itself. It’s really an anthem about the ending of hate.”

2. Closer
– “‘Closer’ is really about obsession or an unhealthy relationship, the control that someone has within that relationship and over somebody. So, it really speaks to unhealthy relationships romantically.”

3. Stranger Days
– “‘Stranger Days” really captures self-reflection of love or a life past. It was inspired by the surrealism that love chemically can paint or portray in one’s mind.“

4. Disco Kills
– “‘Disco Kills’ is a political anthem using metaphors of the disco and rock era of the late 70’s. It is not about disco music; it’s more about the abuse of political power.”

5. Shake the Dead Awake
– “‘Shake the Dead Awake’ is about the birth of punk rock and transition into post-punk of 70’s New York City, specifically inspired by CBGB’s.”

6. Tilly
– “‘Tilly’ was written about a close friend who took her own life due to the emotional abuse she suffered from her boyfriend.”

7. Staring at Ceilings
– “‘Staring at Ceilings’ is everything about isolation, especially isolation within the struggles of mental illness.”

8. Death on Holiday
– “‘Death on Holiday’ was the first song that we wrote as a band. It’s about political turmoil and is really about the end of a war. ‘Death On Holiday’ IS sending death on vacation.”

9. Paper Airplane Heart
– “‘Paper Airplane Heart’ is really about personal struggles and making it through another day and in hopes that one sees that everything does get better.”

10. Breathe
– “‘Breathe’ is really about intolerance and inclusion for all. It is to let everybody know that we see you and we hear you.”

11. Velvets Drawn
– “‘Velvets Drawn’ is possibly one of the most personal songs in the entire album. It’s about someone that was very close to the inner circle of the band. It is our way of letting her know that she was always thought of and will always be remembered.”

Indonesian all-girl rock trio VOICE OF BACEPROT are not ones to shy away from tackling difficult topics surrounding global affairs. The group have faced opposition since their beginnings from conservative Muslims because they perform heavy rock/metal music while wearing hijabs and because of their gender which inspired their ground-breaking, critically acclaimed singles such as “God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music,” “[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY” and “PMS.”

Following the May release of their socially conscious single “The Enemy of Earth Is You,” VOICE OF BACEPROT deliver a fierce anthem against war with their volcanic new single “What’s the Holy (Nobel) Today?” out today, June 15, digitally. “One of the most gut-wrenching topics that drains us emotionally are the horrors of war,” shares Marsya. “The biggest casualties of wars are always civilians, mostly women and children. This song made us dream that perhaps one day, our united voice in rejecting war could be heard by the world. Our dream has always been to be a part of that voice, shouting against war regardless of its reasoning.”

“You can read what the single is really about between the lines,” says Sitti. “We wanted to express our experience of being trapped in a ‘war’ of our own, one which involved us being bullied on social media. People would attack us with such intense fury through negative comments even though we have never shown aggression towards anyone.”

“With ‘What’s the Holy (Nobel) Today?’ we are declaring that no positives can be taken from any war, wars separate and destroy,” exclaims Widi. “There is a political war just around the corner: the Indonesian presidential election. During previous elections, we were segregated from one another and turned against each other, even those from our closest social circle. We should learn not to let it happen again.”
