AT SANTA FE STATION ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

LAS VEGAS, SEPTEMBER 26, 2023 – The wait is over! Grab your boots and do si do over to the hottest new country bar in town! Stoney’s North Forty opens on Wednesday, September 27, at Sante Fe Station. Doors open at 7 p.m. and to celebrate the opening, Stoney’s North Forty kicks off their opening with the launch of Ladies Night, where every Wednesday, all ladies receive $2 house wine, well cocktails, and draft beer. Live weekly entertainment begins Oct. 7 with a performance from Madeline Merlo.

The 13,000 square-foot country bar features a spacious interior with plenty of room for line dancing and two-steppin’, an intimate stage for live performances, several VIP booths, a mechanical bull, and Station Casinos’ iconic mirrored Armadillo. The 2,300 sq. ft. outdoor louvered pergola has a central fireplace, a dedicated beer pong area, other interactive games, and ample seating for socializing.

Starting Sept. 27, Stoney’s North Forty will be open seven days a week. Ladies Night is every Wednesday, with line dancing lessons Tuesday through Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Following last year’s sold-out U.S. tour, YES—who are Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums)—have returned to America with a career-spanning set list. The “Classic Tales Of Yes” tour launched September 21 in Bethlehem, PA and ends November 4 in Riverside, CA.

On this tour—the latest presentation of their ongoing concert series illuminating their classic music—YES is performing many iconic tracks from the influential and pioneering Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ catalog covering 50-plus years as well as music from their acclaimed new album MIRROR TO THE SKY (released May 19 on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music). Before the tour kicked off, YES performed an intimate fan club show in Lititz, Pennsylvania, for which Ultimate Classic Rock was on hand and observed in part: “After opening their set with the title track from 1977’s Going for the One, Yes unearthed ‘It Will Be a Good Day (The River), off 1999’s The Ladder, for the first time since 2000. They also performed 1977’s ‘Turn of the Century’ for the first time since 2014, and several other tracks—including ‘Machine Messiah,’ ‘Time and a Word’ and ‘South Side of the Sky’”— for the first time since 2018. The “Classic Tales Of Yes” evening begins with an on-site presentation by world-renowned English artist and designer Roger Dean, whose masterful artwork of striking other-worldly landscapes has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia. Every show will feature a Roger Dean gallery in the venue’s reception/foyer area. His work—which also appears on the cover of MIRROR TO THE SKY—has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide.

Los Angeles-based alt-pop duo Good Rzn—Josie Molasky (vocalist/songwriter) and Tommy Ghirardini (guitarist/producer)—have today (September 22) released the powerful “Far From Me,” the second single from their debut EP FALLING IN SLOW MOTION out October 20. On “Far From Me,” Good Rzn captivate listeners with their alternative and psychedelic pop, seen through a lens of rock and electronic music. The song weaves a spell with Molasky’s edgy, distorted vocals and Ghirardini’s foreboding guitar riffs, combined with dreamy synthesizer underpinnings and hard-hitting drums.

“The initial concept for the song was based on expressing a feeling of solitude,” reflect Good Rzn about “Far From Me,” which follows the release of the EP’s lead single, “Running Out Of Time.” “We wanted the music to match that isolated energy which is where the wailing guitar came through to mimic a cry out of loneliness.” Read a Q&A below with the band about the single and EP.

Since first releasing music in the fall of 2021, Good Rzn have created a cutting-edge style. The pair’s current catalogue has allowed them to showcase their talents performing at multiple shows including Breaking Sound, Writer’s Block, and WFNM in Los Angeles and PB Avenue in San Diego. Coming off a recent show at the Lost Lake Lounge in Denver, Good Rzn are set to perform at Fergusons Downtown in Las Vegas on Saturday, October 7.

On the Good Rzn-produced FALLING IN SLOW MOTION, they paint the positives and negatives of life as an epic roller coaster ride. The five-track EP gives insight into the feelings the two artists have experienced in their past few years living in Los Angeles. Each song dives into different components of the factors that have influenced the pair since moving to Southern California from Boulder, CO.

“We wanted this collection of music to represent a specific time period of our artistic journey,” says Good Rzn. “We’ve had a lot of amazing moments, but there were also struggles along the way. The creation of these pieces helped us find peace in expressing ourselves and hope it might do the same for our listeners.”

Q&A with Good Rzn

The upcoming EP paints the positives and negatives of your recent experiences. Would “Far From Me” lyrically represent the negative side as it speaks to on being away from someone or something that you love?

GOOD RZN: “Far From Me” was inspired by being away from a loved one, but there’s a duality in the theme where you can also experience growth by going out on your own. The energy of the song is dynamic throughout, representing the ebb and flow of relationships.

What led to writing the darker musical dynamic of “Far From Me” which has that dark, descending riff?

GOOD RZN: The initial concept for the song was based on expressing a feeling of solitude. We wanted the music to match that isolated energy which is where the wailing guitar came through to mimic a cry out of loneliness.”

How was the experience of recording your first EP? Did the EP turn out as expected or were there surprises along the way?

GOOD RZN: The process of finishing our first EP took longer than anticipated. We are very detail-oriented and wanted to make sure that the project met our expectations which in the end we accomplished. Creating something that we are truly proud of was worth all the time and energy we put into it.

As songwriters, are there other influences outside music that impact your aesthetic?

GOOD RZN: We are influenced by our surroundings and love to be in nature. This comes across in our visuals and is combined with post-production editing to create a feeling of surrealism. We want our visual identity to have a cinematic element. This juxtaposition of organic and digital components is a major theme in our music as well, where we focus on mixing live instruments with electronic sounds.

What inspired the name “Good Rzn”? It has a mysterious aura about it.

GOOD RZN: Good Rzn came to us one day after searching for a name for months…it just felt right. It was a long process of searching for the right name and we were both able to relate with Good Rzn. The word “good” brings a positive energy and reminds us to see the good in things. Everything is good

Lauded as one of SIRIUS XM’s 2023 “Ones To Watch,” Detroit-based female-led rock outfit EVA UNDER FIRE have today (September 22) released the deluxe version of their acclaimed debut album LOVE, DRUGS & MISERY via Better Noise Music. The deluxe edition includes an additional 10 bonus tracks consisting of new acoustic tracks, remixes by Noise Machine, a cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs,” and reimagined tracks featuring country rock labelmate Cory Marks. EVA UNDER FIRE’s current single “Unstoppable (feat. Cory Marks)” has landed in the Top 25 tracks at Active Rock Radio this week at #24. Earlier this week, the band announced the release of a limited-edition “Unstoppable” t-shirt as part of Spotify’s “Band Shirt Day.” EVA UNDER FIRE have partnered with the non-profit organization Covenant House that provides shelter and resources to youth facing homelessness and will be donating a portion of proceeds to their cause.

KillerStar is a new band led by Rob Fleming (vocals, guitar, synths) and James Sedge (drums). With songs written by Rob and James, the self-titled album features an array of David Bowie’s most trusted collaborators as guests throughout the album: Mike Garson on piano, Earl Slick and Mark Plati on guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey and Tim Lefebvre on bass, Emm Gryner on backing vocals, and Donny McCaslin on saxophone. Collectively they have crafted a sound which fuses the scale of classic rock with sophisticated harmonies and elements of art rock. KillerStar make a big first impression with “Should’ve Known Better.” It’s an epic song which is rooted in Rob and James’s love of timeless music from the early 1970s to primeval rock ‘n’ roll and sleek hard rock, but its synth textures and driving guitar driven intensity provides a contemporary edge too. Rob’s voice—a vocal delivery filled with drama and conviction—adds another distinctive element, especially as it’s complemented by sophisticated, hook-laden harmonies from Emm Gryner. Mike Garson contributes beautiful avant garde piano, and Gail Ann Dorsey provides driving, melodic bass lines that lock in with the powerful drums from James Sedge.

Rob says, “‘Should’ve Known Better’ contains all the flavours of what we’re trying to do. It has a rock vibe, but with hooks, ambient melodies and layered backing vocals throughout.”

“Should’ve Known Better” was written by Rob, who produced the track with James, before it was mixed by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild) and mastered by Joe La Porta at Sterling Sound.

Collectively, KillerStar’s musicians have contributed to almost every era of Bowie’s vast discography, from the landmark Aladdin Sane to the final goodbye of Blackstar. Although, while the KillerStar name references one of Bowie’s relatively deeper cuts, “Should’ve Known Better” really doesn’t feel like an homage to The Thin White Duke. And that’s simply because it was never intended to be one. Rob and James had recorded the first KillerStar demos independently, without any advance planning on who else would be involved.

Earl Slick says, “Since Bowie died, we’ve all gone off in different directions, but with this album we worked on new material and that was great.”

As you’ll eventually hear on KillerStar’s eponymously named album, there are fleeting touches that recall classic Bowie moments, but really this is something altogether new and exciting. Bowie chose these musicians for their unique style and ability, and that is what they have brought to the record: reunited friends and some new connections, all playing to complement the songwriting rather than to retread the iconic music they created alongside their visionary former leader.

As Emm Gryner considers, “The Bowie alumni have a very special bond and we always will. David united us in a truly special way, where we spent a lot of time together, and to be able to hear each other again in this way was unique.”

Today (September 15), the iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist, and three-time Grammy Award-winner releases his new solo album THE DEVIL ALWAYS COLLECTS digitally, on CD and vinyl on Surfdog Records. It features “Rock Boys Rock,” the album’s high-energy opener and fourth single that’s also out today. Penned by SETZER and frequent collaborator Mike Himelstein, the song is filled with BRIAN’s fluid and sizzling guitar lines set against a galloping rhythm, with his distinctive vocals. SETZER’s guitar work is virtuosic on the new album’s 11 tracks, and his vocals deliver the clever storylines of catchy songs like “The Devil Always Collects,” “Girl On The Billboard,” and “Rock Boys Rock.” Add in non-stop freight train rhythms, and you have an album—produced by BRIAN SETZER and Julian Raymond and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge—that stands with SETZER’s best.

Marking his first live shows in over four years, the “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour will kick off September 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ and includes stops in Nashville, TN (at the historic Ryman Auditorium), Foxwoods Casino, Cincinnati, Chicago (Waukegan) and others before wrapping in Minneapolis (his adopted hometown). Setzer is widely credited for taking two forgotten genres, rockabilly and swing, adding his own blend of gunpowder and rockin’ style, and completely reinventing and single-handedly resurrecting them in the process. Along the way, he has scored chart-topping hits, sold 13 million records and received the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award throughout his decorated career as founder/leader of the Stray Cats, his 19-piece Brian Setzer Orchestra, and as a solo artist. He is consistently cited as one of the world’s greatest living guitarists, and has a best-selling, extensive line of elite Gretsch signature model guitars bearing his name. SETZER is also, fittingly, in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. On the live front, Setzer has headlined venues and festivals worldwide, including a 1983 headlining slot on the iconic US Festival in California, The Playboy Jazz Festival, a three-night, sold-out headlining run at the Hollywood Bowl with the 98-piece Philharmonic Orchestra, Woodstock ’99, and performing in front of more than 150,000 people as headliner of the Montreal Jazz Festival. His reach also includes films and TV, where his roles include portraying rockabilly pioneer Eddie Cochran in the 1987 film, La Bamba, Fox’s “Beverly Hills 90210,” among many others, and he is one of the few musicians to be animated in an episode of “The Simpsons” in 2002. That same year, SETZER was personally requested to induct Chet Atkins into the 17th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. SETZER had the honor of being invited in 2006 to perform at the White House for the President of the United States. Also in 2006, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame with the Stray Cats. In 2014, SETZER received the distinct honor of being asked by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. to donate a replica of his original 1959 Gretsch 6120 “Stray Cat” guitar, joining an elite collection of iconic treasures at the museum.
