Rising Alt-Pop Artist ELIZMA Releases New Single/Video, “Modern Life”; Emotionally Charged Song Doubles As Both A Plea + Prayer In Face Of Global Crisis Set Against Recent Scenes Of Chaos In LA

MUSIC VIDEO “MODERN LIFE”

LISTEN TO THE SONG HERE

HER CINEMATIC MUSIC VIDEO CAPTURES THE SONG’S MESSAGE—
A PLEA AND A PRAYER IN THE FACE OF GLOBAL CRISIS

“This song is a prayer as much as it is a plea. It’s about feeling, overwhelmed by the state of the world—and daring to care anyway.”
ELIZMA

Rising alt-pop artist ELIZMA just unveiled her debut music video, the urgent and soul-stirring “Modern Life”—the emotionally charged song doubles as both a plea and a prayer in the face of global crisis. Watch the video HERE listen to the song HERE, and read a Q&A with her below.

The American singer-songwriter is captured front and center with a cinematic, short-film style music video, filmed by award winning director Alessandro Gentile (Tim Burton Visionary Award). The guerilla-style video is set against recent scenes of chaos throughout Los Angeles: the wildfire-scarred hills in Altadena, the iconic 1st Street Bridge, ICE raids, and MacArthur Park.

The song and video mirror the themes of destruction, resilience, and human disconnection at the heart of “Modern Life.” ELIZMA watched from Louisiana, as the never-ending headlines of war, climate collapse, and political unrest rolled across her feed. Feeling completely saturated and anxious, she wrote “Modern Life” as a way to cope.

Blending atmospheric soundscapes with poignant, truth-driven lyricism, “Modern Life” explores themes of disconnection, injustice, and spiritual reckoning. The song was produced by Jeff Glixman (Kansas, Black Sabbath) and mastered by Grammy-nominated Vlado Meller (Metallica, Celine Dion), adding sonic depth to its already powerful message.

The track culminates in a striking final chorus, layered with haunting harmonies of “Ave Maria”—a last-minute addition inspired by a personal moment of prayer for immigrant mothers separated from their children. The chant, woven into the fabric of the song, transforms “Modern Life” from protest into prayer.

Rooted in raw vulnerability and resilience, ELIZMA’s genre-fluid style merges alt-pop, rock, and spiritual undertones. Her music reflects a journey through addiction, healing, and self-discovery—using art not just to entertain, but to awaken.

ELIZMA elaborates on “Modern Life”:

Q: What inspired you to write “Modern Life?”

A: “I couldn’t stand seeing our people allow corruption to win against truth or being too distracted to care. Watching families being torn apart by ICE; knowing our food is filled with micro plastics and harmful additives; people buying cheap clothes they don’t need, while the people who make them get paid $5 a day in a foreign country like China—all just to throw it in a landfill and pollute the Earth for generations to come. My heart was heavy with the awareness of it all and the great sadness that we (our country) aren’t doing enough to help our brothers and sisters. This song is a prayer as much as it is a plea to humanity’s conscience packaged into something more digestible. We say, ‘what can I do, I’m just one person?’ But Jesus would not accept that answer.”

Q: Why was the decision made to include an “Ava Maria” chorus at the end of the song?

A: “The idea to write about Mary came after the song was already almost completely produced. We were thinking about adding some sort of chant in the end but weren’t sure what to fill the space with. The day before Mother’s Day, I prayed a rosary with some friends from church asking for Mary’s intercession specifically on the mothers who are being separated from their children during ICE raids. As we prayed the rosary, we sang the short ‘Ave Maria’ part from ‘Immaculate Mary’ during each stage of the sorrowful mysteries. A few days later that same melody found its way into my head while I was listening to the song. I realized it was almost the exact notes I already recorded for the harmonies on the chorus, so I tried the ‘Ave Maria’ part at the end of the song. Jeff [Glixman] and I agreed it was perfect for the song, so we stacked the harmony vocals at the end. We had no AC in the studio as we recorded those parts…we couldn’t even crack the windows as temperatures reached 90 degrees in the office. We were not letting that stop us from getting this song done before we made the trip to Vlado’s to get it mastered.”

DD VERNI & THE CADILLAC BAND Second Album “Buckle Up” Out September 19; Album Launches Today With “Lucky 13” Single/Video

FROM: MITCH SCHNEIDER/MARCEE RONDAN

DD VERNI & THE CADILLAC BAND
TO RELEASE SECOND ALBUM
‘BUCKLE UP’
SEPTEMBER 19 VIA DEKO

ALBUM LAUNCHES TODAY WITH FIRST SINGLE/VIDEO
“LUCKY 13”
LISTEN TO THE SONG HERE

AND WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

On their upcoming second album, BUCKLE UP, DD VERNI & THE CADILLAC BAND make big band music more accessible and relatable than ever before, marrying rock ‘n roll’s visceral energy and succinct songwriting to suave, swinging throwback arrangements and aesthetics. Out September 19 via DEKO, the 14-track album launches today (July 18) with the first single/video “Lucky 13.” Listen to the song HERE and watch the video HERE. Pre-order the album HERE. [The album’s full track listing is below.]

As the album’s opener “Lucky 13” sets the tone for the album, its blazing riff, blistering guitar solo and rapturous horns complemented by a similarly irresistible video featuring the full 13-piece band.

“This was the first song I had written for this new album and kinda set the tone,” says DD, primarily known as bassist/songwriter with thrash metal pioneers Overkill. “Everything the band is about, cool riffs, great horn arrangements by Jim McMillen.  Really wanted the first song and video to let people know again where the heart of the band is.” For the video, he adds, “This is really where this music comes alive…on stage!  I can just feel the energy and vibe.  So fun to be a part of!  This was a really fun day, lots of laughs with a good bunch of guys and gals.”

“I was watching ‘Casinoor maybe an old Dean Martin movie,” DD adds of the song’s inspiration. “I love the idea of being at the craps table with your girl and she’s blowing on the dice, you’re having a few drinks, and your buddies are around. You really don’t care whether you win or lose–you just want to be with the girl!”

BUCKLE UP brings the storm-the-stage ethic of Overkill to DD’s lifelong love of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Fats Domino and, more recently, the Brian Setzer Orchestra. BUCKLE UP picks up and goes further than their exciting 2021 debut album Let’s Rattle, on which DD sang and played red hot guitar. BUCKLE UP retains all its predecessor’s verve and vitality while adding more evolved horn arrangements written by Jim McMillen, known for his work on TV’s “Beverly Hills 90210 and “Bridgerton,” and with Grammy-winning artists Christina Aguilera and Ricky Kej.

“When I’m writing and demoing these songs, it’s just a guitar and me,” DD explained. “And they should be able to have that energy with just that, before anything else is added.”

Indeed, DD’s fun-first rocker’s approach and robust songcraft has attracted a who’s-who of musicians to the Cadillac Band, intrigued by its stylistic nuances and go-for-broke ethos. BUCKLE UP features longtime Brian Setzer drummer Bernie Dresel and slap bassist Johnny Hatton; horn players with Paul McCartney’s band and The Eagles; pianist Or Matias (Josh Groban/Broadway music director); guitarist Angus Clark (Trans-Siberian Orchestra); and backing vocals by acclaimed pop-rock duo Kingston and GreyStarr. Recorded in New Jersey and Los Angeles, BUCKLE UP was produced by DD and mixed by Michael Frondelli (Billy Idol, Pat Benatar etc.)

“So psyched for you to hear round two!” DD says. “I worked with so many great people on the last record I couldn’t wait to do another. BUCKLE UP means just what it says…this record brings together all of the experiences I got writing and recording the first record, as well and the shows we did to support it, and takes it to a new level.

“This is timeless, fun music. And for me, in a world that seems so chaotic every day, it’s a joy to have something that’s just plain fun, simple and energetic. To just leave your troubles behind, grab a drink and your girl and go out to a show like ours and have fun! Hoping to get to your town later in the year with the band!…and bring some of that energy.”

“WASH IT ALL AWAY” PREMIERES TODAY

[Las Vegas, NV – July 18, 2025] — Multi-platinum hard rock powerhouse FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH (@5fdp) is celebrating their 20th anniversary with the release of a new album, “Best Of – Volume 1”, a collection of re-recorded versions of the band’s most iconic chart-topping hits, available everywhere now. The move to re-record the songs comes in response to the recent sale of the band’s original master recordings by their former label, an action made without their knowledge or the opportunity to reclaim their own work.

When this unexpected curveball was thrown the band’s way, they chose to turn it into something positive and powerful. Rather than settling for a remix or remaster, the members of Five Finger Death Punch decided to fully re-record the album for a 2025 edition—an homage to the songs and to the fans who’ve made them matter by standing with the band every step of the way.

While Five Finger Death Punch holds deep respect for the original recordings and the people who helped create them, the band is excited to breathe new life into fan favorites like “The Bleeding,” “Bad Company,” and “Wrong Side of Heaven,” and to share this next chapter with fans around the world. See the full album track list further below.

Coinciding with today’s release, Five Finger Death Punch dropped a brand new lyric video for the re-recorded version of live staple “Wash It All Away” from the band’s platinum certified 2015 album, Got Your Six that can be watched HERE.

The first single from the 20th Anniversary Edition, in a poetic coincidence titled “I Refuse,” a long-standing fan favorite that was always meant to be a single, now features guest vocals from Maria Brink of In This Moment. The reimagined, re-recorded version of “I Refuse” hits #1 this week on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart.

With over 12 billion streams, numerous #1 hits under their belt and multiple gold and platinum certifications, Five Finger Death Punch has firmly cemented their place as one of the most successful rock acts of the 21st century. “20 Years of Five Finger Death Punch” (Best of – Volume 1), released via Better Noise Records, is out now. The collection includes 14 re-recorded fan favorites—including smash singles like “Wrong Side of Heaven,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” and “Bad Company”—alongside three previously unreleased bonus live recordings of “Trouble,” “Welcome to the Circus,” and “The Bleeding.” “Best Of – Volume 1” is available across all streaming platforms now and is also available worldwide in a variety of configurations including a standard CD and a Walmart exclusive CD, as well as standard vinyl. The album also comes in several limited-edition collectible vinyl versions, such as a Walmart exclusive, a Best Buy exclusive version, a special Five Finger Death Punch web store vinyl LP, an indie retail exclusive, and a limited edition through Revolver Magazine. Stream the album HERE. All CD and vinyl editions are available HERE.

To commemorate the band’s 20th anniversary, a special merchandise collection is also available now in the official webstore.

For those who like dark and intense music with a distinctive point of view, IN THIS MOMENT have always supplied the goods, and their new single “Heretic (feat. Kim Dracula)” is as uncompromising as ever. It combines haunting modern soundscapes, ferocious vocals, and a doomsday metal assault, with unflinching lyrics like “I am not your pain or your remedy/I am not your faith or your vanity/I don’t want your gold or your filth/That you give and you take.”

Heretic (feat. Kim Dracula)” marks the first new music to be released from the GRAMMY® Award-nominated Los Angeles band’s upcoming as-yet-untitled ninth album and debut for Better Noise Music (exact release date TBA). Listen to the song HERE and watch the video HERE.

“We are so excited to unveil our new song ‘Heretic,’ featuring the incomparable Kim Dracula,” says IN THIS MOMENT in a combined statement. “From the first time we heard that incredible voice, we knew we wanted to collaborate. We cannot wait for the world to hear what happens when we join forces on a song like ‘Heretic.’”

The release of “Heretic (feat. Kim Dracula)” coincides with their “Hell Hath No Fury” tour with Wargasm and Kat Von D and The Pretty Wild launching today (July 16) in Green Bay, WI and lasting through August 16 in Atlantic City, NJ. Along the tour route, IN THIS MOMENT will make appearances at the Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, OH on July 20.

Later this year, the 23-city Black Mass Tour featuring special guests Dayseeker on select dates, The Funeral Portrait, and DED commences on September 18 in Johnstown, PA, making stops across the U.S. in Dallas and Atlanta as well as a hometown show, before wrapping in Bethlehem, PA on October 24. Tickets for all the shows can be purchased on the band’s official website HERE.

Since coming to life in 2005, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated act IN THIS MOMENT have presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of “mother” figure and frontwoman Maria Brink—joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel. As millions convened upon the group’s otherworldly and unforgettable concerts, they quietly emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.

To date, in addition to the Gold-selling album, BLOOD [2012], the quintet have garnered six Gold and Platinum singles, followed by a trifecta of Top 25 entries on the Billboard 200 with BLACK WIDOW [2014] and RITUAL [2017]. They’ve amassed a total stream tally well past 2 billion.

Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas everywhere alongside Disturbed and appeared at countless festivals from Lollapalooza to Sonic Temple. Along the way, they assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled MOTHER [2020] with longtime trusted collaborator Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch]. Whereas RITUAL hinted at a bluesy sonic sorcery, MOTHER breathes the activating mantra of an unbreakable spell, commenced on first single “The In-Between,” which received a GRAMMY® nomination in 2020 for “Best Metal Performance.”

In 2022, the band released BLOOD 1983 [BMG], a reimagined EP commemorating the ten-year anniversary of BLOOD. Then in 2023, the longtime staples of heavy music released their eighth studio album GODMODE [BMG], a 10-song record featuring the powerful lead single “The Purge,” the band’s stunning cover of Björk’s “Army Of Me,” the collaborative track “Damaged” which features Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “I Would Die For You,” which appears on the soundtrack for John Wick: Chapter 4.

ROCK AND ROLL GALLERY Debuts Exclusive Interview With Legendary Photographer James Fortune

DATE: JULY 15, 2024

ROCK AND ROLL GALLERY
DEBUTS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH
LEGENDARY PHOTOGRAPHER JAMES FORTUNE
ON ITS “SHOT TALK” CHANNEL
VIEW IT HERE

ROCK AND ROLL GALLERY—a one-stop online photographic wonderland for classic rock lovers, offering a treasure trove of iconic images and limited-edition prints—continues its 25th anniversary celebration this year. Following an exclusive interview on its “Shot Talk” channel with legendary photographer Neal Preston, Rock and Roll Gallery just debuted iconic photographer James Fortune’s first-ever in-depth on-camera interview featuring never-before-seen photographs of some of rock and roll’s biggest legends. View the interview HERE and read select quotes from Fortune below.

The interview was captured earlier this year by Rock and Roll Gallery owner Chris Vranian at Fortune’s Virginia home. Fortune reflects on his extraordinary career and the unforgettable moments he captured. Rock and Roll Gallery will be offering 25% off all of Fortune’s prints through Labor Day. View his work HERE.

Fortune is a photojournalist best known for his work documenting anti-war protests on the Sunset Strip to music and culture of the 1960’s and ’70s. (He had to pause his music photography from ’68-‘69 because he volunteered to serve in Vietnam and was a photographer for the U.S. Navy.) Beginning in college in the late ’60s, Fortune spent more than a decade capturing candid and behind-the-scenes images of rock and roll icons including The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Jim Morrison, Elton John, and many others.  James’ work can be seen on album covers such as Led Zeppelin’s “How The West Was Won” and in books as recent as “The Doors, Night Divides The Day” by Genesis Publications. Fortune’s work is highlighted by the famous Robert Plant “Dove Shot” that became one of the most iconic posters in the 70’s. Many of his images appearing on posters that adorned the walls of American teenagers throughout the 1970’s and early ’80s, helping to define the visual language of a generation.

Here are a few highlights from Fortune’s interview on “Shot Talk”:

LA Riots 1966:

“I called UPI and they said we already have photographers with film, I said they don’t have what I have!”

Led Zeppelin Hyatt House Hotel Sunset Strip 1973:

“Peter Grant picked up Jimmy Page and said where do you want him, I said I want the group in that chair!”

The Who “Tommy” premier party Hollywood 1975:

“He was a heavy partier; I loved to be around him because things just happened when Keith Moon was in front of your camera!”

Chris Vranian says that interviewing Fortune was “a truly long overdue labor of love. He is very private and a bit reclusive but he trusted me and knows that I always have good outcomes for him. We have done a lot over the years with licensing his images and the cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘How The West Was Won’ album cover which he talked about in the interview. James was open, honest, and told it like he saw it—and he saw it!”
