MELODIC DOOM/SYMPHONIC METAL ARTIST
IVA TORIC
SHARES VIDEO FOR COMPELLING SECOND SINGLE
“ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER”

San Francisco-based melodic doom/symphonic metal artist IVA TORIC has conjured a second track from her upcoming debut album, THE DEVIL’S MARK, due later this year. The “explosive and melancholy” (Ghost Cult Magazine) single “Actions Speak Louder” comes with a bewitching music video (seen below) directed by Matt Akana (Asking Alexandria, The Unlikely Candidates). “Actions Speak Louder” was produced and mixed by Jim Kaufman and features guest musicians Gregg Cash (Josh Todd and the Conflict, ex-Dorothy) on bass, Kemble Walters (Juliette & The Licks, Aeges) on guitars, Dylan Howard (Aeges) on drums and Sasha Smith on keys.

“‘Actions Speak Louder’ is about honesty,” declares IVA. “It’s about speaking truthfully and acting on your words. Do what you say you’ll do especially when it’s hard or inconvenient. When emotions are high and chaos reigns, we display our true character.

“I realize more and more each day how meaningless words are when they’re not accompanied by congruent actions–from those we love and from our leaders. Actions Speak Louder is my mantra today.”

Described by Kerrang! as a “syncretic approach to dark culture, mixing the organic darkness of Uada, the psychedelic hues of Soundgarden, and the goth elegance of Maria Brink” (January 14, 2020), IVA uses her music to overcome personal challenges and relate to those who share the same issues.

IVA‘s debut single “DARK SIDE OF ME” was released earlier this year and depicts her lifelong struggle with chronic depression while itsethereal video shares her connection to nature with dark, mysterious elements and pagan aesthetics. “The lyrics are honest and raw,” says IVA, “and for anybody who has struggled with their own mental health, self-esteem or body image, you’ll find a part of yourself gazing back at you from within this song. THE SOULFUL AMERICANA/COUNTRY-ROCK ARTIST
SHARES Q&A ON LIFE AS A MUSICIAN
DURING QUARANTINE IN LOS ANGELES

Soulful and fearless Americana/country-rock artist HEATHER ANNE LOMAX (formerly known as Michael-Ann) is previewing her upcoming second album ALL THIS TIME (due May 1) with “Heart Don’t Lie.” A bittersweet country song about love and loss with the moving line “Cause heaven knows/That the heart don’t lie,” the song is available today (April 10) across all digital platforms following its premiere yesterday via The Bluegrass Situation. Listen to “Heart Don’t Lie” now here:

“It’s a song about love and longing,” shares the Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and guitarist. “It’s a song of yearning and of the unseen ties that bind two souls regardless of space and time. It’s about ‘memories, pressed between the pages of my mind.”

“Heart Don’t Lie” comes on the heels of HEATHER‘s riveting and colorful performance music video for the album single “Better Luck” which debuted last month on DittyTV. The uplifting self-empowerment manifesto “Better Luck” was initially premiered via American Songwriter. “One of the most expressive vocalists around,” noted the outlet’s Paul Zollo, “she combines the sweet folky purity of Joan Baez with the rocking soul of Janis Joplin with hints of Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt.” “Better Luck” was also picked by The Alternate Root as one ofThe Top Ten Songs of the Week” (2/19/2020). HEATHER recently spoke to Guitar Girl Mag whom lauded her as “a bold and daring voice in today’s Americana scene. She is creating music that brings the raw roots of country, blues, and gospel into a modern language that is firmly grounded in time-honored tradition.” (April 6, 2020)

HEATHER has brought her fiery energy to stages across the U.S. opening for acts including Wynonna and The Big Noise, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Bridges, John Hiatt, Richie Furay, Don McLean, Judy Collins, Marshall Tucker Band, Joan Osborne, Melanie, WAR and Blood Sweat & Tears.

Originally hailing from Kansas City, HEATHER is now based in Los Angeles where she recorded ALL THIS TIME with producer/mixer Jason Hiller along with enlisting an all-star team of renowned musicians to guest on the album including Zachary Ross, Ty Bailie, Ben Peeler-Weissenborn, Aubrey Richmond, David Goodstein, Chris Joyner, Rob Humphreys, Rosa Pullman-Wurlitzer, Maesa Pullman, Ronee Martin, John “JT” Thomas, and Danielle Fife.

While quarantined at home in Los Angeles due to the coronavirus pandemic, HEATHER shared some of her thoughts on its impact on artists and what she’s been doing to keep busy while staying at home in the below Q&A.

QUARANTINE Q&A with HEATHER ANNE LOMAX

What are some of the changes you’ve seen around you following the spread of the coronavirus pandemic?

LOMAX: “I think one thing that is GOOD that has transpired with this pandemic, is that it has heightened people’s compassion for others. I see people willing to do favors for others, donate time, resources, etc. for the common good. It’s tragic that sometimes we need a wakeup call like a pandemic, or 9/11 to remember those noble qualities in our species.”

While staying at home, what are some of the activities that you’ve been doing to keep busy?

“I have been binge watching (thanks to my friend Aubrey Richmond) ‘The Outlander.’
It’s a truly romantic escape to the shores of Scotland. At its core, it’s a love story set in the mid-1700’s during the Jacobite uprising against England. It’s full of dramatic twists and turns, passion, loyalty, and the undying, unbridled love of two soulmates that weather the test of time. Do I believe in this kind of love? Absolutely.”
“I’ve also been reading a lot of books. I am currently reading ‘My Symphony’ by William Henry Channing and there’s a quote in the book that really stands out to me in these times because it is easy to become fearful, and not mindful:
‘To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, to all bravely await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.’

What it’s been like as an artist surviving during these times?

“I had shows and a record release lined up, but like so many other musicians, have had to cancel or postpone those performances. For so many musicians, touring is a big part of their financial equation to support their work. This situation is causing a paradigm shift. Now musicians are performing online just to stay in the public eye. This music offers much needed comfort, support and healing. Hopefully it puts some money in musicians’ pockets as well via online views. I have my own financial concerns, but I am better off than many of my friends who tour exclusively to support themselves. My heart really hurts for them.”
“I’m hoping this situation cracks open our hearts to be more aware that we are ALL struggling–financially, emotionally, spiritually and physically. This virus does not discriminate based on status, race, sex or religion. Perhaps we will be more keenly aware that we are all just trying to survive on this planet. I think that it has also made me aware that this life IS truly a gift, and it’s best to take time to ‘stop and smell the roses.'”

TASH SULTANA New Song And Video For “Pretty Lady” Features Clips From A World In Isolation

DATE:        APRIL 9, 2020

FROM:       MARCEE RONDAN/MITCH SCHNEIDER

TASH SULTANA
RELEASES SEDUCTIVE NEW SONG
‘PRETTY LADY’
AND EXPLOSIVE VIDEO CLIP
AVAILABLE TO STREAM OR PURCHASE NOW

After a world premiere on Australia’s “The Breakfast Show” (via national broadcaster triple j), multi-instrumentalist and global sensation TASH SULTANA has released her seductive new song “Pretty Lady,” out today (April 9) on Mom + Pop Music. Listen to the song here and watch the video here.

The video was created using clips of friends, family, and fans all around the world in isolation to spread positive energy into the world. All the participants will continue to spread the word with the #PrettyLadyChallenge on social media. To coincide with the single’s release, TASH also performed live on YouTube as part of their #Stayhome series through the pandemic on TASH‘s YouTube page.

“Pretty Lady” was co-written and made by TASH with Matt Corby and Dann Hume in TASH‘s own studio. The song is an exquisite showcase of storytelling that TASH has become known for, while also showcasing TASH‘s soulful and intimate vocals.

Reflecting on the track, TASH explains, “I’ve been trying to figure out how to write this song for like six years. I used to loop it and just free style to it when I was busking years ago, but I always got stuck on the same parts. I put the song in a box at the back of my mind and revisited it in November 2019. I had Dann (Hume) and Matt (Corby) spend some time in my studio and that’s when I decided to show them this song. It’s my first song I’ve collaborated with other players on.”

About TASH:

TASH SULTANA is an explosive live artist who has commanded global attention since homemade videos went viral. Tash was soon selling out major arenas globally and playing at the world’s biggest festivals – no mean feat for an artist who just a year before was recording songs on a go pro in a bedroom.

Since Tash’s grandfather gifted a guitar at the age of three, the self-taught artist quickly developed a unique style that has seen Tash breaking record attendances around the globe. Tash has mastered over 12 instruments, has a vocal that shines with a magical quality and a live show that needs to be seen to be believed.

The one-person powerhouse started out playing open mic nights on a fake id and busking on the streets of Melbourne, Australia. Recent accolades include over 1 Billion combined streams, an ARIA award for Blues and Roots Album of The Year with ‘Flow State’, smash single ‘Jungle’ coming in at #3 in triple j’s Hottest 100, achieving platinum sales for the Notion EP, double platinum sales for ‘Jungle’ and platinum sales for ‘Notion’ along with numerous gold certified singles. Tash’s live show has seen her become the only artist to sell out 3 Brixton Academy shows before their debut album along with selling another 500,000 tickets worldwide which recently culminated in a sold out performance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with noted stand out sets at Coachella & Lollapalooza.

GODSMACK Release “Unforgettable” Music Video Highlighting Two-Year Journey with Young Musicians

DATE:          APRIL 8, 2020

SULLY ERNA AND GODSMACK
TAKE 400+ NEW ENGLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ON THE MUSICAL ADVENTURE OF THEIR LIVES

BAND’S NEW MUSIC VIDEO “UNFORGETTABLE”
OUT TODAY (APRIL 8) DOCUMENTS THE TWO-YEAR JOURNEY

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

Multi-platinum hard rock titans GODSMACK today (Wednesday, April 8) have released the video for their new hit single “Unforgettable” from their latest smash album WHEN LEGENDS RISE (BMG).

With music programs continuing to be at risk in schools across the country, it was important for the band–Sully Erna [vocals, guitar], Tony Rombola [guitar], Robbie Merrill [bass] and Shannon Larkin [drums]–to make a video about the power of music to uplift lives. They invited 400+ aspiring musicians from all over New England to join them at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, NH for the shoot.

The “Unforgettable” video (directed by Noah Berlow) culminates a two-year process where the band involved students, starting with the recording of the song when 20 students joined them in the studio to provide vocals on the chorus. These same students were also invited to perform the song live onstage with GODSMACK at their show in Gilford, NH on August 22, 2018 at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion. Earlier this year, the band returned to the Gilbert H. Hood Middle School and enlisted students to rehearse with them the day before the shoot to prepare them for the filming. As part of the band’s visit, SULLY talked to the students about his life–the challenges, blending in, how music saved him–and encouraged the young musicians to continue to pursue their dreams.

“We took these middle school students on a two-year long journey to show them how important music truly is to us all,” SULLY says. “Throughout 2018, we continued to include these kids in all aspects of the process by showing up at their school and personally teaching them the song, including them to join a part of our world tour inviting them to perform live onstage with us, taking them to NYC to further educate them on the business side of the music industry, visiting them at their schools to talk to them about the gift of music, and ultimately inviting them to shoot their first ‘official music video’ with the band.”

“Unforgettable” comes on the heels of last year’s career first for the band when they scored three #1 singles from GODSMACK‘s critically acclaimed and seventh studio album WHEN LEGENDS RISE. The song is currently at #11 on the active rock charts. It follows “Under Your Scars,” which was the group’s third #1, and the album’s two previous tracks that were #1 active rock hits: “When Legends Rise” and “Bulletproof,” the latter of which was recently certified Gold in the U.S. and was also the most-played song at rock radio in 2018. WHEN LEGENDS RISE entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart in the top ten (#8), with four #1 placements on other charts: Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Music Albums, Top Independent Albums and Top Alternative Albums.

WARDRUNA Postpone ‘Kvitravn’ Release Until January 2021; Fall N. American Tour Remains Scheduled

DT: APRIL 7, 2020

FM: KELLY WALSH

WARDRUNA
POSTPONE ‘KVITRAVN’ ALBUM RELEASE TO
JANUARY 22, 2021

NORDIC FOLK OUTFIT TO PROCEED WITH
NORTH AMERICAN FALL TOUR DATES

KVITRAVN cover artwork
Due to the effect of the coronavirus pandemic forcing the closure of warehouses and production facilities, Nordic folk outfit WARDRUNA have made the decision to postpone the release of their fifth full length album, KVITRAVN–which translates to ‘White Raven’–from its originally scheduled release date of June 5, 2020 until January 22, 2021 via BY NORSE MUSIC in the U.S. and SONY MUSIC / COLUMBIA RECORDS (worldwide excl. U.S.). It will remain available for pre-order during this time (links below). WARDRUNA will proceed to keep plans for their anticipated return to North America this Fall on a solo run from September 24 to October 20, dates of which are listed below. The band will continue to reveal new music throughout the year.

“It is with heavy hearts and great disappointment that we announce that our upcoming album ‘Kvitravn’ will be moved to January 22, 2021,” says founder/composer EINAR SELVIK. “Closed-down production factories and heavily reduced logistic services due to the COVID-19 situation makes it impossible to go forth with the release as planned. Nobody knows how long this situation will last and therefore we feel it is best to set a realistic date with a higher certainty of us being able to execute the release in the manner needed. On a more positive note, we plan to release a good handful of songs in the time to come before the full album comes out, so stay tuned!”

Pre-order options for KVITRAVN are available via digital download at https://wardruna.lnk.to/Kvitravn_Album. The album is also available on CD and 180-gram 2LP gatefold vinyl (black or ltd. Edition white) at https://wardruna.aisamerch.com/.

Since their formation in the early 2000’s initiated by SelvikWARDRUNA have transcended genres, cultures and language barriers worldwide with their musical ode to ancient Nordic traditions with a #1 Billboard World Music album (2016), massive music contributions to the History Channel’s Vikings” and a 2018 sold-out headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado.

Beyond genre, theirs is a sound that must be truly experienced. WARDRUNA‘s first-ever concert was held in front of the 1,500-year-old Gokstad Viking ship in Oslo, NO and they’re the only band to have ever been allowed to hold an amplified concert at the Viking ship museum. Since then they’ve performed sold-out shows worldwide, including major festival headlining appearances (Hellfest, Roadburn, Summer Breez, Castle Fest, Echoes & Merveilles, Rock oz Arenes, Rock The Coast, etc.).

Indie Folk/Americana Artist DYLAN HARTIGAN Shares Debut Single “My Island”

SOULFUL INDIE FOLK/AMERICANA ARTIST
DYLAN HARTIGAN
LAUNCHES FIRST SINGLE “MY ISLAND”

In a time where there’s so much uncertainty going on in this world, many are turning to music to help cope. For Dylan Hartigan, he’s releasing new single ‘My Island’ for people to enjoy while also bringing the current condition of the world to light.”
-Brad Curry, American Songwriter (4/2/2020)

DYLAN HARTIGAN‘s soul-warming vocals resonate a feeling of being at one with nature and self as he shares a vulnerability in his debut single “My Island,” which is available now across all digital platforms following its premiere yesterday (April 2) via American Songwriter. The heartfelt single will be included on DYLAN‘s debut 10-track album (as-yet-untitled) due later this fall. The album was co-produced by Grammy-nominated producer Bobby Holland (ZZ Ward, Kesha, Drake White) in Nashville alongside rock n soul artist Maggie Rose.

On “My Island,” DYLAN‘s distinctive Americana-inspired indie folk melodies and thought-provoking lyrics shine as he tells the story of the world as if it were a person.

“I wanted to create a song that humanizes the world by bringing awareness to the planet as a living being–by turning myself into it. It is the story of a stolen heart,” shares DYLAN. “A woman washes up on shore and comes into this man’s life and steals him away from the woman he loves. However, with her success comes the fear of the same thing happening to her. So…unfortunately, the island gets taken over.”

Listen/download “My Island” on your preferred digital platform here.

DYLAN was raised in a family of musicians that played for nothing other than the love of music. He says that “music is something my family has built happiness on. I grew up surrounded by love every second music was on.” He has been an entertainer since childhood, having pursued acting at an early age with supporting roles in The Stepford Wives (2004) aside Nicole Kidman and Matthew Broderick and the coming-of-age film Funeral Kings (2012) plus appearances on TV shows including “The Black Donnellys” (2007) and “Law & Order”(2008). With a desire to explore his passion for music, he tried out for Season 14 of NBC’s “The Voice” reality singing competition and made it all the way to live performances, earning praise from such national outlets as the Hollywood Reporter which described him as “soulful and charming [with] impressive range.”

Stay Fresh and Wash Ya Hands graffiti

Stay Fresh and Wash Ya Hands graffiti, 3/29/2020

Pandemic graffiti in front of the Majestic Repertory Theater in the Arts District of Las Vegas, our new home. Rana and I today drove around there and cruised up and down the ghost town Strip. Then we headed west to downtown Summerlin to pick up food curbside at Shake Shack. Times like these are made for fried food…
