Multi-talented singer-songwriter, composer and producer ABBY POSNER embraces her genre-fluid blend of Americana, folk, indie pop and punk rock and frames it with her very own introspective “queer love story” on her upcoming second solo album SECOND CHANCES. Due out August 11, the self-written, recorded and produced album will mark the Los Angeles-based artist’s first release via Blackbird Record Label. It was inspired by a major breakup and relays themes of resilience, patience, acceptance, self-awareness, and rebuilding.

Today, June 7, ABBY has shared an in-studio performance video, recorded live and in one take, for the debut single “Simple Life” in advance of its digital release this Friday, June 9. Filmed at Sonic Boom Studios in Venice, CA during the album’s recording session with her live band, “Simple Life” takes the listener to a relaxed state of mind and allows them to be reminded of the simple things in life. As Glide Magazine noted, “Channeling the majestic folk of 70s’ singer-songwriters with a modern Americana edge…Abby Posner certainly has a way with words, images, and echoing a sepia-toned light with her tunes that evoke the forthright sounds of Aimee Mann, Lydia Loveless and Lucinda Williams.”

“We live in such a chaotic world right now, politically and socially, I believe that it is important to have art and music that can bring us back to earth…that can ground us in these unpredictable times,” says ABBY. “‘Simple Life’ is that song for me. Every time I play it, I am immediately transported to a different environment. Almost like a meditation.”

“We live in a material-focused, capitalist society…every man for himself,” she continues. “I thought, what would it be like to write a song about letting go? Letting go of material items and focusing on planting seeds, growing love, and leaning into a higher power. Simply surrendering.”

ABBY, who identifies as queer (they/she), will be celebrating LGBTQ Pride Month by hosting Los Angeles’ Hotel Café’s first-ever Pride Festival event on Saturday, June 1. All tickets sold will be donated to Campaign for Southern Equaliity, a non-profit organization working to address the intersections of race, class and gender in the lives of LGBTQ+ Southerners. The event will feature a headlining set by ABBY in addition to performances from Raya Yarbough, Praise Kink, Joseph Eid and Jessica Childress. Tickets are on sale now HERE.

“This is the first-ever Pride Festival at the famous Hotel Cafe in Hollywood CA,” exclaims ABBY. “I’ve been playing on this stage for over 12 years, and I have never seen an official Pride celebration held here. There are so many talented queer performers in Los Angeles–I wanted to highlight them at this iconic venue during Pride month. The tickets purchased at the door will go directly to Southern Equality. After being on tour in the South for the past month, I can’t think of a better organization to donate to. I feel extremely safe in Los Angeles being a queer person. Everyday LGBTQ people are fighting for their rights all over the South. This organization works hard to keep LGBTQ protected and safe.”

ABBY is also excited to announce she will be performing as an official showcase artist at AMERICANAFEST 2023 this September in Nashville, TN.

ABBY has held several early-career milestones including being featured on prime-time television on the hit series “Glee”; creating film scores for award-winning projects including the STARZ documentary “Lady Buds”; sharing the stage with acts including Sierra Hull, Dave Alvin, and iconic lesbian folksinger Phranc; and having her songs be used by Hulu, Netflix, Freeform and “This American Life.”

VOICE OF BACEPROT (pronounced ‘bah-che-prot’)—Marsya (vocals & guitar), Widi (bass) and Sitti (drums)—will be touring in support of their anticipated debut album RETAS due July 13 via 12WIRED (see cover artwork pictured below). The trio, who are all Muslims, sing in English, Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese, and have faced opposition from conservative Muslims, in their hometown of Garut, West Java due to the unique and contradictory combination of performing heavy rock/metal music and their wearing of the hijab on stage. They have turned heads with previously released singles “School Revolution,” “God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music,” “[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY” and “PMS” which has garnered attention from renowned global media outlets including New York Times, NPR, BBC and The Guardian, in addition to praise from iconic rock musicians including Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Vernon Reid of Living Colour and Slash who invited them to attend Guns N’ Roses show in Jakarta and met with them backstage. Ground-breaking Indonesian all-girl rock/metal trio VOICE OF BACEPROT (VOB) released their powerful single “The Enemy Of Earth Is You” on May 18– a call-to-action protest anthem against indifference to climate change–which Louder Sound praised for its “infectious grooves and nimble-fingered riffs.” Born out of the trio’s high school years, “The Enemy Of Earth Is You” is a powerful, passionate anthem wrapped in VOB‘s trademark ferocity and marks the debut single from VOB’s upcoming debut album RETAS due in July (exact date tba). In 2018, VOB released their globally acclaimed debut single, “School Revolution” which drew in support from media across the globe and featured appearance at several local and international virtual music festivals including the UK’s virtual WOW (Women of World) Festival where they were introduced to now Queen Camilla Parker-Bowles. Further hit singles including “God, Allow Me (Please) to Play Music,” “[NOT] PUBLIC PROPERTY” and “PMS” (short for “Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya which translates to “Wholly Independent Woman”) followed.

Kovac—who’s also the founder and chief executive officer of 10th Street Entertainment, a world-class artist management company with Motley Crue, Blondie and other global names in their charge—is a renowned industry leader, continuously recognized by his peers. He was named in Billboard’s 2022 Indie Power Player list of executives credited for driving the success of the independent music industry. In 2019, Sir Richard Branson honored him with the Innovator Award at the AIM Association of Independent Music Awards with special recognition for his innovation in the music industry. Dan Waite (a Billboard 2022 International Power Player) has just marked his sixth year at Better Noise Music. Moving up from President to CEO, his new title as CEO represents his second promotion at the label. Waite is Chair of Impala’s Digital Committee and sits on the AIM Digital Committee and has a 360-background encompassing all the elements of the modern music industry. Prior to joining BNM, Waite was Head of Talent for Time Inc and NME; worked with screen talent at BBC Studios; and was Head of Programming for AEG at The O2 Arena. His background includes a role as manager/agent for Phil McIntyre in a joint venture with Simon Cowell, and at MTV, Waite’s responsibilities included looking after the major label relationships and working on the MTV Europe Awards, “Pimp My Ride,” “Diary of,” and “Making the Video” and overseeing talent for the MTV Networks Europe South Channels of France, Spain, Italy and Greece. His early major label career included Universal Music and Virgin Records.

Steve Kline is now the President of BNM in addition to retaining his title as COO, the position he has held since 2016. He has worked for 18 years under the Kovac Media umbrella, first at 10th Street Entertainment, and since its inception in 2006, Better Noise Music where he was SVP Marketing & Promotion. Kline’s experience encompasses label and artist management, marketing, promotion, and branding; he possesses an extensive network of relationships and experience across multiple media platforms within the entertainment space. Kline’s background includes serving as VP of Promotion of Clive Davis’ J Records as well as VP West Coast Promotion of Columbia Records/Sony Music.

Austin, TX-based rock group FIRE FROM THE GODS have today (May 19) released a new EP, SOUL REVOLUTION: ACOUSTIC VIBES, via Better Noise Music consisting of four newly recorded acoustic singles taken from their critically acclaimed recent 2022 album SOUL REVOLUTION. FIRE FROM THE GODS have also shared a heartfelt music video for the acoustic version of “Be Free” available today across all digital platforms. The video features a split screen with one side showing footage of the band recording the acoustic track in the studio, while the other side features a compilation of videos and photos submitted by fans including footage of meet & greet experiences, live concert clips and fans lip-synching to the song emblazoned with the band’s merch. “People often ask ‘who are your fans? What type of artist do you want to be?’ and I can never answer that question because honestly I don’t know,” shares CHANNER. “I’ve been to so many places and interacted with so many different people. That has had a profound effect on me. I am 100% sure that I only want to spread a message of inner strength and unity, and this song is that message. I’ve directed quite a few music videos but only one for FFTG. I knew I had to do this one because I wanted to give our fans a real shout out from a real place. I didn’t add any of the bells and whistles. We made them look like home movies because home is where the heart is and FFTG is about that. Having heart. Life is rough. Life is beautiful. There are good times and there are bad times, but no matter what you’re going through just breathe and be free.”

Channer went on to discuss the meaning of “Be Free,” stating: “If I had to pick one song from ‘Soul Revolution’ that fully embodied where my mental state was while writing this record, it would be “Be Free. Why? Because our music is essentially about freedom. Life is a struggle–I know about that struggle, and I know our fans do too. We love our fans because they are real people. They love this band because we’re real people. I’m honest and not afraid to talk about that everyday bullsh*t. I know, and they know, what it is to have your back pushed against the wall. No matter what you’re up against, sometimes you gotta let it go and just be free.”

NYC-based modern rock quartet TEMPT’s latest single “Roses”—out digitally today, May 19 via Better Noise Music—is a genuine celebration of the human spirit and the power of positive energy captured through its irresistible groove, catchy chorus and a ripping guitar solo. Stream and/or download it now HERE. “Roses” was produced and mixed by Grammy Award-winner Chris Lord-Alge (Harry Styles, Foo Fighters, Muse) who commended TEMPT’s efforts, stating: “Working with TEMPT was a blast. TEMPT—Zach Allen (lead vocals), Harrison Marcello (lead guitar), Christopher Gooden (bass) and Nicholas Burrows (drums)—showcase their electrifying live performance in the music video for “Roses,” also out today. The video takes viewers on a visual journey reminiscent of a graphic novel, with high-contrast black-and-white silhouettes that explode into vibrant colors. Directed by Emmy-nominated Eric Steinhauser, known for his work on ‘Baileys in Tune: John Mayer and Paul Simon,’ the video captures the song’s concept of embracing people with positive energy and spirit, as social media influencer and choreographer Olivia Alboher playfully and elusively dances around the band, mesmerizing Allen with her vibrant energy. And for playing a damn good rendition of our ancient tune!!!” TEMPT were also featured on the soundtrack for Better Noise Film’s 2022 horror-thriller The Retaliators with their single “Living Dangerous (feat. Indonesian all-girl rock trio VOICE OF BACEPROT (VOB) have come forward with a galvanizing new single, “The Enemy Of Earth Is You,” a call-to-action protest anthem against indifference to climate change. In 2016 several natural disasters wreaked havoc across Indonesia—no less than 1,985 happened, breaking a 10-year record of the most natural disasters ever occurring in a calendar year. One of the most devastating of them was the flash floods that swept the regency of Garut in West Java.

Born and raised in a small village called Singajaya (found at the foot of a mountain in one corner of Garut), the band members were not directly affected, but the floods deeply emotionally impacted vocalist/guitarist Marsya, bassist Widi, and drummer Sitti, inspiring them to write “The Enemy Of Earth Is You.” The single expresses their broken hearts and agony following the above events.

Taken from their much-anticipated debut album RETAS due in July (exact date tba), “The Enemy Of Earth Is You” is available now at your preferred digital streaming platform HERE and can also be heard streaming below.

Coinciding with the release of “The Enemy Of Earth Is You,” VOB have aligned themselves with over 6,600 musicians and music industry workers worldwide by joining Music Declares Emergency (MDE), a global movement bringing together musicians, music industry professionals, and organisations to use music as a means for raising public awareness about climate issues and the protection of life on Earth. With their NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET campaign, MDE have garnered support from some of the world’s most renowned artists and bands, including Billie Eilish, Arcade Fire, The 1975, Imogen Heap, Fatboy Slim, Major Lazer, and Tom Morello.

In the aftermath of the flood and natural disasters, Marsya recalls: “At that moment, we came to think humans are the real Earth’s chief antagonists. We are the most foolish and gullible, spending our time synthesising and justifying all kinds of greed by destroying the world. We are the ones who have been ineptly killing ourselves!”

“It is a song that summarises our loathing towards anyone who becomes an enemy of the Earth,” she adds.” On the flip side, the single reminds us not to turn into one of them.”

With the help of producer and NTRL guitarist Coki Bollemeyer, VOB set about rearranging the song’s rhythm flow, initially based on some of the most prevalent nu-metal riffs from the late nineties and early noughties, to assert their collective anxiety and fury. The result is a composition articulating a sense of sadness yet wrapped in VOB‘s trademark ferocious sound.

ABOUT VOICE OF BACEPROT
VOICE OF BACEPROT (pronounced ‘bah-che-prot’) formed in Garut, West Java in 2014. Consisting of Firdda “Marsya” Kurnia (age 22) on vocals and guitar, Widi Rahmawati (age 21) on bass, and Euis “Sitti” Aisyah (age 22) on drums, the word “baceprot” from their band name comes from the Sundanese language meaning “noisy”. It was chosen to represent the style of music that they play.

VOB began to turn heads when a video of them performing a cover of a song by Rage Against The Machine in 2015 became popular on YouTube. The three-piece continued to produce more videos of them covering songs by their idols, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, and Slipknot, which garnered even more attention from both local and international media, and they quickly went viral.

Besides their obvious prodigious musical talent, it was also the unique and contradictory combination of heavy rock/metal music and their wearing of the hijab on stage that caught the eye of media from across the globe. The trio, who are all Muslims, have faced opposition from conservative Muslims, in their hometown of Garut. They sing in English language as well as Bahasa Indonesia and Sundanese, which has gained them a worldly fanbase outside Indonesia.

In 2018, VOB signed a deal with Jakarta-based booking agency Amity Asia. Not long after, they released their long-awaited self-written debut single “School Revolution.” Produced by Stephan Santoso–who also plays the guitar for Musikimia–the single propelled them to international stardom. They were personally invited by legendary guitarist Slash to meet him backstage when Guns N’ Roses held a concert at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta in November 2018. Further confirmation of their burgeoning reputation came via personal shout-outs from their idols Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea on social media, along with Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid. Shortly after they graduated from high school at Muslim Senior High School Madrasah Aliyah in 2020, Marsya, Sitti, and Widi relocated to Jakarta with the support from their new management agency, 12WIRED.

After several years of blood, sweat, and tears, VOB are set to unveil their greatest work yet in July 2023: debut album RETAS.
