BRIE
DEBUTS VIDEO FOR
BOUNCY SEDUCTIVE NEW SINGLE
“THE THRILL’

WATCH THE CLIP HERE

Singer songwriter BRIE is debuting a video for her new single, “The Thrill.” The video follows the late June single release and is the first track in a series of songs set for release via 12WIRED. Rendy Iskandar of Motionhouse ID provided the video concept and editing, AI artists Dwi Suharmoko and Edwo N. Rizky added their touch, while Fat Kartel handed production duties with additional creative input from BRIE, the high energy clip captures the many facets of the Indonesian R&B/pop singer/songwriter’s art alternating between live and AI footage. Watch it here and read BRIE’s thoughts on the clip below.

“When we were approached to reconstruct the music video to BRIE’s ‘The Thrill’ by implementing a different visual, I realised that it would be an exciting challenge for us to take on,” Rendy Iskandar says. “We opted to adopt a VFX approach that involved generating Stylised Artificial Intelligence, which would be applied to the music video footage. We believe that by combining video and stylised AI with BRIE as the talent in the clip, we would be able to create an impression that is free, dynamic, expressive, and imaginative, a visual representation of how the things that we see could evolve into something that is far beyond reality.”

“The Thrill” highlights Brie’s coming-of-age guilty pleasures with a sprinkle of attitude. Produced by Norwegian producer Peder Elthom-Idsøe, “The Thrill” is a bouncy, seductive R&B/pop track highlighting the underlying tension that boils beneath the allure of the forbidden fruit in one’s reckless youth. Simply put, people know they are attracted to things that would cause them more harm than good.

BRIE
TALKS ABOUT “THE THRILL” VIDEO

Q: What was the concept for “The Thrill” video?

BRIE: The video was an intriguing concept, following along with the nuance and the overall vibe of the track, it was a whimsical experience to say the least. Looking back at the final cut, I’d have to say that we ended up with a product that had a lot of imagery at play, highlighting an array of escapist tendencies that the storyline in the music represents. Much like the theme of the song, since the making of this video, I’ve come to learn a lot. Most importantly, I got to know the many different ways I’d prefer to represent both my work and my art. So, I hope everyone stays tuned for this one and many many more to come down the line.

Q: How was your experience in creating your first video?

BRIE: Given that it was my first proper music video shoot and the creative circumstances at the time, I think it was a learning experience and a necessary stepping stone in the process. I think the best way to describe it is that it’s artistically experimental; complex in the simplest ways, if anything. The finished product was both abstract and urban, classic yet modern.

What kind of creative challenges did you face in making the video?

Q: If I’m being candid, the challenges we faced handed us results that differed greatly from our initial vision. But if I remove all my personal biases and ideals, now that I’m seeing it with fresh eyes, I can still look at it and go, “Huh, maybe art’s not meant to be understood, just felt, “and this is me inviting you all to feel just as confused, frustrated, and chaotic as I did when I wrote the song and had a whirlwind of an experience, that re-introduces BRIE with me showcasing a chapter I’m glad I have now closed, ready to take the first step forward into the new.

Bay Area staple alt pop group FINISH TICKET have taken fans, and themselves, on a rollercoaster ride throughout their career with a whirlwind of highs and lows. After creating a wave with sold-out shows across the Bay Area and their debut album Tears You Apart, they were picked up by Atlantic Records who released their debut EP When Night Becomes Day and were seen touring alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy and AWOLNATION. The band also made key festival appearances including Bonnaroo, Life Is Beautiful and Kaboo, in addition to making their debut late-night TV performance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” In 2019, FINISH TICKET self-released their hit track “Dream Song,” which garnered over 2.7 million streams and saw the band embark on a successful headlining tour, selling out multiple venues across the country. Then COVID hit in 2020 and put everything to a halt.

After spending the past three years writing and recording their second full-length album (title TBA), FINISH TICKET signed a record deal with Better Noise Music. Today (July 21), they’ve released the first new music with the single, “Changing,” marked by an irresistible melody, nostalgic guitar riffs and affecting self-questioning lyrics. For the intimate sing-along styled lyric video, the trio—Brendan Hoye (vocals), Alex DiDonato (guitar), and Gabe Stein (drums)—took a full-sized bed out to one of their favorite beaches at Point Dume in Malibu, CA. The video can be streamed HERE or seen below. “Changing” is out now across all digital platforms at https://finishticket.ffm.to/changing.

“This song is about the fear of aging and feeling that you haven’t accomplished as much as you thought you would by now,” the band explain. “By letting those pressures get to you, you lose sight of why you chose this path and start making decisions from a place of desperation and not for the love of what you do. Pair that frantic disappointment with a pressing drum beat and nostalgic guitar riffs, alongside a languid halftime outro, and you’ve got ‘Changing.’”

FINISH TICKET toured earlier this spring across the West Coast with Canadian rockers The Beaches. The trio then kicked off a full U.S. run in early July with Arrows in Action and Honey Revenge which stretches through August 11, during which the band will bring their passionate and heartfelt live show to Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 3 alongside headliners Billie Eilish and Karol G. Full dates can be found below. Tickets are available at https://finishticket.com.

Platinum-certified hard rock heavyweights BAD WOLVES fuse unpredictable metallic intensity and impressive musicianship with arena-ready hooks. The group are excited to today (July 21) release across all digital platforms the first single, “Bad Friend,” from their highly anticipated studio album (title TBA) due later this year via Better Noise Music. Stream “Bad Friend” now HERE. “Bad Friend” brings awareness to recognizing the importance of cutting out people in your life who show toxic behavior and moving on from them. BAD WOLVES enlisted director Wombatfire (Asking Alexandria, Dream Theater) for its dark-themed music video which can be seen streaming below or directly HERE via YouTube.

‘Bad Friend’ exemplifies exactly where Bad Wolves always wanted to be as a band,” relays vocalist Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz. “It lives dead center of being melodically catchy as well as crushingly heavy and is a great representation of our new upcoming album. This song reminds us that TRUE friendship is not about being perfect or always saying the right thing but being there for each other through the good times and the bad. It’s also to be willing to acknowledge one’s own mistakes and make things right. If you can’t do that, you might be a bad f*cking friend.

Since 2018, BAD WOLVES, whose lineup consists of John Boecklin (drums), Doc Coyle (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Kyle Konkiel (bass, backing vocals), have earned a platinum plaque, topped iTunes, and continued to rule Active Rock radio charts with six #1 singles (“Hear Me Now,” “Killing Me Slowly,” “Lifeline,” “Remember When,” “Sober” and “Zombie”) and two Top 10 singles (“If Tomorrow Never Comes” at #2 and “Learn To Walk Again” at #10). Their debut album, Disobey, made a Top 25 debut on the Billboard Top 200 and saw BAD WOLVES perform to sold-out audiences on multiple continents with heavyweights such as Five Finger Death Punch and Megadeth. 2019’s N.A.T.I.O.N. brought their total stream tally past the half-billion mark—unprecedented for a modern rock band. On top of that, Loudwire hailed it among the “50 Best Rock Albums of 2019” as Billboard and Consequence of Sound chronicled their rise. In the midst of 2021, they welcomed Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz—previously of The Acacia Strain—as lead vocalist, ushering in a new chapter with their third full-length offering, Dear Monster.

BAD WOLVES are currently on a headlining tour with support from For The Fallen Dreams, The Funeral Portrait and Inimical Drive until July 28. Next, they head out with Asking Alexandria and The Hu on their co-headlining “Psycho Thunder” tour across the U.S. from August 30 to October 8. Tickets are on-sale now at https://badwolvesnation.com/pages/tour. See full dates listed below.

Boecklin shares: “Playing new material from our upcoming record with our label mates Asking Alexandria and The HU is exactly what we want to be doing this Fall. See y’all there!”

Creative sparks and killer riffs are flying everywhere on BRIAN SETZER’s new album THE DEVIL ALWAYS COLLECTS out September 15 via Surfdog Records digitally, on CD and vinyl. Today (July 21), the iconic 3-time Grammy award-winner has rolled out the album’s first track and video, the blazing “Girl On The Billboard.” Listen to the song and pre-order the album HERE and watch the animated video HERE. BRIAN will support the album, his first since 2021’s Gotta Have The Rumble, this fall on his U.S “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour starting September 27 (the dates are below).

SETZER’s guitar work is virtuosic on the new album’s 11 tracks, and his vocals deliver the clever storylines of catchy songs like “The Devil Always Collects,” “Girl On The Billboard,” “Black Leather Jacket” and “Rock Boys Rock.” Add in non-stop freight train rhythms, and you have an album—produced by BRIAN SETZER and Julian Raymond and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge—that stands with SETZER’s best. It’s always been BRIAN’s special talent to inject the roots of rock with a contemporary freshness that unites fans of rock, Americana, rockabilly, and punk.

“Girl On The Billboard” hits fast and hard. “It’s an old truckers song,” says BRIAN about the song popularized in 1965 by country music singer Del Reeves. “At first I wasn’t getting the sound I wanted until I picked up my Gretsch 1957 Duo Jet 6131 Firebird. I mean, the sound is monstrous, dirty and twangy.”

Marking his first live shows in over four years, the “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour will kick off September 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ and includes stops in Nashville, TN (at the historic Ryman Auditorium), Foxwoods Casino, Cincinnati, Chicago (Waukegan) and others before wrapping in Minneapolis (his adopted hometown). For these dates, SETZER will be joined by, in his words, an “international rockabilly band, Chris D’Rozario from Melbourne, Australia and Juan Laurios from Mexico City, Mexico.” Although BRIAN has a 40-year career as a solo artist, leader of The Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a Stray Cat, he continues to play with a jaw-dropping level of vigor. Tickets are on sale at: www.briansetzer.com

“I’ve had a pretty long break, and I needed it,” says BRIAN. “I’m renewed and really want to play live again. I want to just get out on the road with this kick-ass little 3-piece band and start playing.”

He adds, “I think fans can always expect that I’m going to play the hits. I also want to play some solo guitar and little things I’ve worked out by myself. I’ve never really gotten to do that, so it’s going to be something new.”

His set lists will include “some of the favorite covers I’m doing now. I haven’t recorded it, but I really like playing my version of ‘Georgia On My Mind.’ And then with the band, I want to play a new song ‘Girl On The Billboard’ because it tells a fun story.”

Here’s the track listing for THE DEVIL ALWAYS COLLECTS:

3. Girl On The Billboard

He’s sold millions of albums and is a “Musician’s Musician” credited with continually taking chances with innovative and daring musical styles. Along the way, he has scored chart-topping hits, sold 13 million records and received the Orville H. Gibson Lifetime Achievement Award throughout his decorated career as founder/leader of the Stray Cats, his 19-piece Brian Setzer Orchestra, and as a solo artist. He is consistently cited as one of the world’s greatest living guitarists, and has a best-selling, extensive line of elite Gretsch signature model guitars bearing his name. That same year, SETZER was personally requested to induct Chet Atkins into the 17th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. SETZER had the honor of being invited in 2006 to perform at the White House for the President of the United States. Also in 2006, he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame with the Stray Cats. In 2014, SETZER received the distinct honor of being asked by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. to donate a replica of his original 1959 Gretsch 6120 “Stray Cat” guitar, joining an elite collection of iconic treasures at the museum.

In advance of the EP, TASH recently released (July 5) a new track, “Bitter Lovers.” The song–which follows two previous singles, “James Dean” and “New York”–takes a different turn with a collaboration featuring American soul R&B artist BJ The Chicago Kid. The song showcases their combined exceptional chemistry and creative synergy. The journey began when BJ shared a demo with Tash during their tour in September 2022.

SUGAR was co-engineered, produced, composed and arranged by TASH who played every single instrument on the EP. TASH–who withheld releasing any new projects for over two years–came into the EP with a refreshing perspective, described as a combination of past, present and future workings. The new release embodies their commitment to innovation and artistic exploration. Fans will hear this as a teaser of an “album cut in half.”

TASH reveals that the EP’s theme serves as a reflection piece, encapsulating their life from 2021 to 2023. It is a captivating storytelling experience incorporating cryptic wording and musical style, leaving the true message open to interpretation. TASH ensures that no one will ever fully discover the true meaning of the message.

TASH wrote the songs for the SUGAR in the comfort of their own home, studio, and mind, with their notebook serving as a creative companion throughout the journey. This intimate environment allowed TASH to explore their musical vision and fully bring it to life.

Famed music personality RIKI RACHTMAN—former host of MTV’s “Headbanger’s Ball and co-owner of the iconic Hollywood rock club “Cathouse”—has been touring across the U.S. and Australia including sold-out dates in NYC, Nashville, Charlotte, Chicago, and Sydney. In his one-man show “One Foot In The Gutter,” named after his trademark phrase, RACHTMAN shares uncensored, never-before heard stories along with previously unseen photos and videos from his experience of being at the epicenter of the most decadent era of rock & roll history throughout the late 80’s and early 90’s. “We were not sure what to expect,” shared Kevin Zink (owner of Flint, MI’s staple music venue Machine Shop). “We don’t normally do storyteller type shows but every person in attendance was engaged for the whole two and a half hours and left having the best time. ‘One Foot In The Gutter’ was one of our favorites shows ever.”

“The show is hilarious at times but also takes a serious turn and shares my battle with drugs, time in jail, pornstar girlfriends and some rock star feuds,” says RIKI. “It’s a rag to riches to rags story like no other. The show also recounts through videos and photos some of the most iconic moments of ‘Headbangers Ball.’ It might be the episode with Nirvana or going to the waterpark with Alice In Chains. It’s all there but also filled with many unexpected twists and turns.”

RIKI elaborates: “I’ve had a pretty incredible career but nothing has been as rewarding as these shows. I have revealed stuff on stage that I have never told anyone. I don’t know why I feel so comfortable up there. To meet people across America and Australia that truly enjoyed the show is one of the coolest things I have ever experienced.

RACHTMAN will bring back the show one last time across the Southwest starting August 2 in New Orleans, LA at House of Blues and including a special homecoming show on August 13 in Hollywood at the Bourbon Room, just down the street from where Cathouse was located.

“The Hollywood show will be unique because there will be stories in my show that involve people that are out in the audience,” RIKI reveals. “I’ll also have family members at the show that don’t know the true stories of my debaucherous past.”

Tickets and limited “VFI” (very f*cking important) packages which include a private Q&A plus 30-minute hang with RIKI along with a signed poster, exclusive merch and early entry are on sale now at https://www.cathousehollywood.com/ofitg.html. See full dates below.

YES
ANNOUNCE THE NEXT U.S. TOUR OF THEIR ONGOING CONCERT SERIES
“CLASSIC TALES OF YES”

Following last year’s sold-out U.S. tour, YES, who are Steve Howe (guitars, vocals), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Jon Davison (vocals, acoustic guitar), Billy Sherwood (bass guitar, vocals), and Jay Schellen (drums), have today (July 17) announced their “Classic Tales Of Yes” tour in the U.S. starting September 24 in Bethlehem, PA and ending November 4 in Riverside, CA. Look for the tour—which is the latest presentation of their ongoing concert series illuminating their classic music—to include many iconic tracks from the influential and pioneering Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ catalog covering 50-plus years as well as music from their acclaimed new album MIRROR TO THE SKY (released May 19 on InsideOutMusic/Sony Music).

See below for the full list of tour dates, which will go on sale July 21. Go to www.yesworld.com/live for ticketing information.

Looking forward to the “Classic Tales of Yes” tour, STEVE HOWE said: “We’re putting together a great setlist covering the length and breadth of Yes’ career.”

“As always, we are committed to pushing new boundaries and are very excited to be performing another chapter in the rich legacy of the band,” added GEOFF DOWNES.

The evening will begin with an on-site presentation by world-renowned English artist and designer Roger Dean, whose masterful artwork of striking other-worldly landscapes has graced classic album covers and posters, most prominently by YES and Asia. Every show will feature a Roger Dean gallery in the venue’s reception/foyer area. His work—which also appears on the cover of MIRROR TO THE SKY—has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide.

MIRROR TO THE SKY features not one, but four tracks clocking in at over eight minutes, with the sweeping and cinematic title track coming in just shy of fourteen minutes. What’s more, the tracks, like Yes’ best, take the listener on a wide dynamically ranging journey of soundscapes which also showcase Steve Howe’s dazzling guitars, Jon Davison’s angelic, crystalline vocals, Billy Sherwood’s deftly dancing bass, keyboard wizard Geoff Downes’ impeccable sounds, exquisite melodies and fills, and Jay Schellen’s masterfully controlled explosions, on drums. Jay Schellen, who has been touring with the band since 2016 as an additional drummer, was hand-picked to step into his mentor and friend Alan White role when White sadly passed away in 2022.

These are the videos released from MIRROR TO THE SKY:

“All Connected” HERE
“Circles of Time” HERE

Ultimate Classic Rock raved that “Mirror in the Sky breezes from one musical highlight to the next so deftly that you’re wanting more.” (May 17). Glide Magazine observed thatMirror to the Sky” succeeds at proving the idea that Yes music will carry on long after the original members pass in a very special way. As the producer of this twenty-third studio album, [Steve] Howe has stepped in and helped create a soundscape in the vein of their classic material.” (May 18). Guitar World noted that “There’s a lot of classic prog keyboard and guitar interplay across “Cut From The Stars,’ but there’s lovely stuff from about 4.30 where Steve Howe and Geoff Downes exchange melodic pot shots.” (3/16).

ABBY POSNER showcases her jack-of-all-trades skillset as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer with her newly released single, “Quiet On Sunset,” taken from her upcoming sophomore solo album SECOND CHANCES due August 11 via Blackbird Record Label. Available now across all digital platforms HERE, the music video for “Quiet on Sunset”—filmed on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, CA–was exclusively premiered via Guitar Girl Magazine last Wednesday and is currently featured on CMT as one of their weekly highlighted music videos. Read more about the making of “Quiet On Sunset” in a Q&A with ABBY below. Stream the video for “Quiet On Sunset” below or via YouTube HERE.

“I wanted to create an electronic/folk song with lots of dark synths and basses blasting at the end,” says ABBY. “The organic elements I tracked with was the banjo and the marching drum…I love playing with texture when I produce, and I think there is something interesting in there about the two drastically different genres blending together–the duality of wants and needs within a relationship clashing.”

SECOND CHANCES marks ABBY’s debut release on Blackbird Record Label. ABBY produced, mixed, wrote and performed guitar, bass, drum, keys, banjo, mandolin, percussion and vocals for all 12 tracks at Sonic Boom Room Studios in Venice, CA with engineer Kevin Jarvis. Inspired by a life-changing breakup and the introspective soul-searching that followed, SECOND CHANCES embraces her genre-fluid blend of Americana, folk, indie pop and punk rock. The album’s debut track, “Simple Life,” (released June 7) was premiered via Glide Magazine who noted, “Channeling the majestic folk of 70s’ singer-songwriters with a modern Americana edge…Abby Posner certainly has a way with words, images, and echoing a sepia-toned light with her tunes that evoke the forthright sounds of Aimee Mann, Lydia Loveless and Lucinda Williams.”

ABBY, who identifies as queer (they/she), recently hosted Los Angeles’ Hotel Café’s first-ever Pride Festival event in June and will celebrate the release of SECOND CHANCES on Saturday, August 19 with a special headlining show in Santa Monica, CA at McCabe’s. Tickets are on sale now HERE. ABBY is also excited to announce she will be performing as an official showcase artist at AMERICANAFEST 2023 in Nashville, TN on September 21 at 7:00 PM at The Vinyl Lab. She will appear the following night, September 22, at The California Country Show AMERICANAFEST Specia Event at ACME Feed & Seed which takes place from noon – 7:00 PM.

Abby Posner “Quiet On Sunset” Q&A

–“Quiet On Sunset” is about romantic abandonment and the challenge of moving on when one is unwanted. Can you give us some background about the song? It is based on something you’ve gone through?

“Quiet on Sunset” was written after I went to my friend’s birthday party in a neighborhood that my ex-partner lived in. A neighborhood where we created a lot of memories together. I stepped outside and Sunset Blvd was so quiet for a moment. It felt like the world stopped, and I wanted to go by and see her, but I knew that our relationship wasn’t in a place where I could just show up at her door, so I went home to write this song instead.”

–It’s interesting that “Quiet On Sunset” is a gently strummed and softly sung lover’s plea, and that the final third of the song musically takes an upbeat turn, perhaps suggesting that you’re getting closer to the idea of moving past a fractured relationship—you’re also seen confidently smiling at this point in the video. As the album’s producer, can you talk about your production choices to accentuate the song’s sentiments?

“I think most importantly, I wanted the song-form to feel a little bit herky jerky on purpose, because that was an aspect of the relationship. There were a lot of push/pulls and ups and downs. I wanted to mirror that in the song structure. It is one of the only songs I have ever written where the chorus occurs once throughout the entire piece. The ending is the explosion. It was me letting out my frustration and anger that we could never get back to where we were. I wanted to create an electronic/folk song with lots of dark synths and basses blasting at the end. The organic elements I tracked with was the banjo and the marching drum…I love playing with texture when I produce, and I think there is something interesting in there about the two drastically different genres blending together–the duality of wants and needs within a relationship clashing.”

The “Quiet On Sunset” video shows you walking down one of the most famous streets in America, playing the song’s various instruments (acoustic guitar, bass guitar, banjo, snare drum, rhythm machine) which highlights your multi-instrumentalist skills. Can you talk the video’s concept and the stretch of Sunset Blvd where it was shot?

“I originally wanted to shoot this video in the exact neighborhood, but I didn’t want to take the risk of running into her–haha! So we changed location at the last minute and shot about 7 miles away in Los Feliz…still on Sunset Blvd, just not at the scene of the crime.”

–During the shooting of the video on the streets, did any unexpected things happen?

“If you watch at the very end of the video there are two women that run out of a store…I think it was on purpose, so they could be on camera. The funny thing was that they seemed really embarrassed after making that decision. it is hard to miss that shot, and it is actually one of my favorite moments of the music video.”

–The Second Chances bio says the album was “inspired by a life-changing breakup and the introspective soul-searching that followed.” What advice might you have for others who find themselves in a painful, angry place when a romance deteriorates?

“My advice is to feel all of the feelings. Do not avoid or push them away! Feel them deeply, feel the anger, feel the grief and sadness…you will be able to move on in a much healthier way. Repressing and rebounding too quickly never ends well. I am so grateful that I have my music to help me sort through all of the emotions. Everything becomes much clearer after I write a song, and I hope that others can use art and creativity in the same way.”
