YACHT ROCK SYMPHONY is an unforgettable concert experience featuring a legendary lineup of iconic classic rock hitmakers. It’s set to debut with two initial shows, June 28 in Columbus, OH, (get tickets HERE) and October 11 in Ft. Worth, TX, with more dates to be announced. These extraordinary evenings will feature the original artists who shaped one of rock’s most iconic eras collaborating with a local orchestra. Reimagining classic hits in a symphonic setting, this musical journey will include performances from Ambrosia, John Ford Coley (of England Dan & John Ford Coley), Peter Beckett (the voice of Player). Although the previously announced billing included Elliot Lurie (of Looking Glass), he will be on board for future shows pending scheduling. See below for artist quotes.

Created by Steve Selak and booked by Randy Chaplin, the concept tour of Yacht Rock artists paired with a symphony is something that has never been done. “Yacht Rock has continued to explode in popularity and I was looking for ways to get into larger and more prestigious venues,” Selak explains. “It’s difficult to find a show that can sell tickets and something audiences haven’t seen before. Everyone I spoke to felt the next logical step was to add an orchestra. Fortunately, our gamble has paid off.”

Chaplin adds, “As the leading boutique agency in booking Adult Contemporary artists with Symphony Orchestras for their Pops series, I always look for new and exciting artist ideas to present to the artistic administrators at all the symphony orchestras. When Steve [Selak] approached me with the Yacht Rock Symphony show, I said yes right away.”

The set lists will include top Yacht Rock hits that continue to gain popularity, as they find new fans among younger generations, while still resonating with their core fans. Ambrosia, John Ford Coley, Peter Beckett (The Voice of Player), and Elliot Lurie (of Looking Glass) will take the stage to perform their chart-topping Billboard hits from the 1970s and 1980s, including favorites like “You’re The Only Woman,” “How Much I Feel,” “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight,” and “Baby Come Back.” With five Top 40 Billboard hits and five Grammy nominations, Ambrosia delivers their signature blend of progressive rock and soulful melodies. John Ford Coley brings chart-topping favorites like “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” and “Nights Are Forever Without You.” Peter Beckett returns with the #1 smash “Baby Come Back,” and Elliot Lurie revisits the timeless Looking Glass classic “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl).”

Here are some quotes from the YACHT ROCK SYMPHONY artists:

Q: So many Yacht Rock songs have held up and, in fact, they are reaching a whole new audience. What do you credit that to?

JOE PUERTA (AMBROSIA): “The essence of any hit record is the hook–the chorus that you can’t get out of your head. That lyric that strikes a nerve or touches the heart. These songs contain some of the strongest hooks of the era they came from. Beyond our diehard fans who grew up with the music, we’re equally excited that we’ve attracted a whole new audience! Seeing a lot of younger faces in the crowd—fans we never thought we would be reaching at this point in our career—speaks to the music and songs that have stood the test of time (over 50 years), and we are enjoying every minute of it!”

BURLEIGH DRUMMOND (AMBROSIA): “It was a great era for pop music, and especially songwriting. My children grew up hearing these songs and have made them part of their musical library. I believe that’s the case with most of the audience that come to our shows—you have some original fans alongside their children. Many of the fans have been listening to these songs for their whole lives. Every night, I’m impressed by how many of the younger audience members know all the lyrics of all these tunes.”

JOHN FORD COLEY: “So many Yacht Rock songs originally included strings or horns and other instruments on the recordings that touring artists weren’t able to include on the road.  To now be able to perform with a fuller sound brings a new dimension to the songs.”

PETER BECKETT (the voice of PLAYER): “I credit the longevity of these songs to the fact that they’re actually good. The music quality from the late 60’s to the early 80’s has stood the test of time. To be able to recreate that sound on this tour is really exciting.”

ELLIOT LURIE: “The term ‘yacht rock’ began as a bit of a joke. However, people got into the music as a genre, I think what stood out was the quality of the musicianship, songwriting, and recording. The fact that the songs continue to resonate with modern audiences is gratifying.”

Q: What can audiences expect at these upcoming shows?

JOE PUERTA (AMBROSIA): “We have carefully chosen the songs we felt had the biggest impact on our audience. The show features many iconic songs from the ‘yacht rock genre.’ We’re hoping that when people come to the shows, they will take a trip down memory lane as they listen to the soundtrack of their lives.”

BURLEIGH DRUMMOND (AMBROSIA): “They can expect non-stop hits from an era of iconic songwriting with talented artists performing their own songs. Beautiful orchestrations, YACHT ROCK on steroids!”

JOHN FORD COLEY: “Reaching a new audience was the biggest surprise for me. It’s impossible to tell you the thrill of hearing and seeing an audience singing the songs, sometimes louder than we are playing.  If I could wish one thing for people, it would be experiencing the sheer joy of having people sing your songs back to you.  Nothing like it.”

PETER BECKETT (the voice of PLAYER): “We’re hopeful that the audience will hear the tunes they grew up listening to, with a whole new dimension. In a sense, a new take on the soundtrack of their youth.”

ELLIOT LURIE: “Audiences can expect to hear the yacht rock songs performed by the original artists with symphonic accompaniment tailored to those songs, with an added layer of smoothness from the symphony!”

Stay tuned for additional YACHT ROCK SYMPHONY tour dates.

#1 FINNISH ROCKERS THE RASMUS

TO PLAY CHARITY GIG IN UKRAINE AT ATLAS FESTIVAL

One of Finland’s most internationally known bands, The Rasmus, will play a charity gig in Ukraine this summer on July 19 as the headliner of the Atlas Festival, as the only foreign artist at the event.

The band wants to do their part to help Ukraine.

It’s scary to play in the middle of war, but we want to show our support for the Ukrainian people. We have a massive fan base in Ukraine and we’ve also previously done a joint song with the Ukrainian Eurovision winner Kalush Orchestra” – frontman Lauri Ylönen.

Over 60,000 people are expected to arrive at the festival. The festival has a comprehensive security system and the event is prepared to evacuate the audience and performers in just a few minutes if necessary.

Last year, the festival raised over two million euros for charity. The artists can choose to direct their charitable funds to any Ukraine-related cause, such as supporting children’s hospitals, purchasing ambulances, or helping combat medical personnel.

The Rasmus recently released the electrifying new single “Creatures of Chaos” via Better Noise Music and Playground Music. With their signature blend of dark atmospheres and anthemic melodies, the band once again proves why they remain a force to be reckoned with in the rock world. In their native Finland, where they are the reigning #1 rock band, The Rasmus stands at #1 on Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and Deezer as far as followers, views, likes and streams.

The video for “Creatures of Chaos” can be seen on the band’s official YouTube page HERE.

The Rasmus is currently on tour in the United States. View the dates HERE.

ABOUT ATLAS FESTIVAL

The first edition of Atlas festival dates back to 2015 and ran successfully until 2019. In 2024 the organizers bravely brought it back, creating the biggest music event to take place in Ukraine since the invasion started, with 63,000 people in 3 days. The festival had a robust safety framework to ensure the artists’ and audience’s safety. The new venue – Blockbuster Mall – has the biggest underground parking in all of Ukraine (50000 m2), which can quickly become a shelter. In fact, in case of alarm, the entire festival can be evacuated to the shelter in a matter of minutes. The organizers worked and continue to work with the State Emergency Services, regional military administration and city administration to ensure the mitigation of all risks and the preparation for any threats without any danger to the people.

The festival entirely revolves around a big charity goal – to raise 100mln UAH (2.3 M EUR) to help the country. In 2024 Atlas Festival reached the goal with the help of its audience, artists, influencers and everyone who was involved. The whole festival was built around raising these funds with the help of our artist, sponsors, audience and all the country’s volunteers, influencers and opinion leaders.

He has helped to drive his band, over the course of five decades, to sales of more than 150 million albums, critical acclaim, four Grammy Awards (one of which includes the guitar-based instrumental “Boogie Man”) and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. JOE ’s work with Aerosmith has resulted in an unending array of accolades and honors. Beyond their Grammy Awards and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, other key milestones over the past 50 years include: 12 MTV Video Awards; two People’s Choice Awards; six Billboard Music Awards; eight American Music Awards; 23 Boston Music Awards; and an Academy Award nomination for Best Song, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (from the soundtrack to Armageddon). One of the world’s true Guitar Hero’s, he was immortalized in 2008, when AEROSMITH made history and created a cultural firestorm with the Activision released Guitar Hero®: Aerosmith®, an epic collaboration that marked the first music-based game to feature one band. As a solo artist, PERRY has released six albums including his 1980 debut, the critically acclaimed Let the Music Do the Talking, which landed at #47 on Billboard’s album chart. Most recently, PERRY released SWEETZERLAND MANIFESTO in 2018 and SWEETZERLAND MANIFESTO MKII in 2023 (which included six tracks with alternate vocal appearances and mixes from the 2018 album). TOMMY EMMANUEL is a noted acoustic fingerstyle guitarist who frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. The composer, global touring artist, and Grammy® Award winner is no stranger to iconic stages from Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to London’s Royal Festival Hall, Paris’ L’Olympia, and Sydney’s Opera House. His most recent album is 2025’s Live At The Sydney Opera House (C.G.P. Sounds), recorded at the Sydney Opera House in his native Australia, HERE. Stream the album HERE. The companion film features performance highlights from his sold-out residency at the venue. Watch it HERE.

Here are quotes from TOMMY:

  • “I’m looking forward to sharing the bill with Richard Thompson at Carnegie Hall!  I am a big fan, his music and humor are so different to mine, I think we will get some sparks happening!”
  • “Richard’s style is so crafted by decades of working, touring all while honing his craft.   It’s a joy to be around someone of his talent!”
  • I am thrilled to be playing Carnegie Hall, what a place to stop and look where you are! I have played there once before with Les Paul for his 90th Birthday.  I loved the sound, the atmosphere, the people and the MOJO of standing on sacred ground! See you there! Tommy CGP.”

RICHARD THOMPSON has been on a singular musical journey for over a half century, from his days in the ‘60s as a pioneer of British folk rock with Fairport Convention, to his seminal ‘70s duo work with Linda Thompson, to the exploratory, deeply emotional music of the solo career that has been his primary concern ever since. Thompson’s genre defying mastery of both acoustic and electric guitar along with engaging energy and onstage wit continue to earn him new fans and a place as one of the most distinctive virtuosos and writers in Folk Rock history. His most recent album is 2024’s Ship To Shore (New West Records). The 12-song set was produced by Richard Thompson and recorded in Woodstock, NY. Stream the album HERE. It follows his 2018 studio album 13 Rivers and his 2021 memoir Beeswing: Losing My Way and Finding My Voice 1967-1975 which was published by Algonquin Books. Met with overwhelming critical acclaim, Pitchfork said 13 Rivers “may be his best album this century,” while Uncut Magazine awarded it a 9/10 rating, calling it “his best album in decades.”

Here are quotes from RICHARD:

  • “Pound for pound, I think Tommy is the most accomplished acoustic steel-strung guitarist on the planet.”
  • “Carnegie Hall is one of the world’s most famous venues—and founded by a Scotsman!”

ABOUT IN THIS MOMENT

Since coming to life in 2005, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated act In This Moment have presided over a diehard fan base under the watch of “mother” figure and frontwoman Maria Brink—joined by co-founder and lead guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimmel. As millions convened upon the group’s otherworldly and unforgettable concerts, they quietly emerged as one of the most influential and impactful bands of the 21st century.

To date, in addition to the Gold-selling album, Blood [2012], the quintet have garnered six Gold and Platinum singles, followed by a trifecta of Top 25 entries on the Billboard 200 with Black Widow [2014] and Ritual [2017]. With a total stream tally well past 200 million as of 2020, Ritual elevated them to new creative and critical peaks as well. Between selling out headline tours coast-to-coast, the group performed in arenas everywhere alongside Disturbed and appeared at countless festivals from Lollapalooza to Sonic Temple. Along the way, they assembled their seventh full-length, the aptly titled Mother [Roadrunner Records] with longtime trusted collaborator Kevin Churko [Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch]. Whereas Ritual hinted at a bluesy sonic sorcery, Mother breathes the activating mantra of an unbreakable spell, commenced on first single “The In-Between.”

In 2022, the band released Blood 1983 [BMG], a reimagined EP commemorating the ten-year anniversary of Blood. Then in 2023, the longtime staples of heavy music released their eighth studio album GODMODE [BMG], a 10-song record featuring the powerful lead single “THE PURGE,” the band’s stunning cover of Björk’s “ARMY OF ME,” the collaborative track “DAMAGED” which features Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “I WOULD DIE FOR YOU,” which appears on the soundtrack for John Wick: Chapter 4.

TASH SULTANA has joined forces with City and Colour for a special collaboration: ‘Ain’t it Kinda Funny ft. City and Colour,’ the much-anticipated third single from TASH’s upcoming six-track EP RETURN TO THE ROOTS.

Out today (April 30), the track has a rich history and it’s been years in the making. Originally written by TASH as a teenager, it’s one of the earliest songs in their catalogue—a raw acoustic piece born from a deep love for artists like Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver, and, fittingly, City and Colour.

Fast forward to now, and the track has been reimagined, reshaped, and revived—not just to suit where TASH is today as an artist, but as a person on the edge of turning 30.

“That looming milestone makes you reflect,” TASH says. “There’s this pressure that you’ve somehow ‘aged out’, but it’s all bullshit. Thirty’s young. Life’s only getting better. I wouldn’t relive my early 20s for anything—and that realization bled straight into this song.”

“Ain’t It Kinda Funny” sees both artists contribute contrasting yet complementary verses—SULTANA’s leaning into sentimentality, and City and Colour’s offering a reflective, seasoned perspective. Together their vocals balance like yin and yang, bridging generations of experience and emotional insight.

“Working with Tash was an absolute joy,” Dallas Michael John Albert Green, who is City and Colour, comments. “We first connected last year and hit it off right away. That first impression led to me visiting their studio in Australia and eventually creating this song together. Tash is one of the most impressive people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Their passion and work ethic was inspiring. I’m truly grateful to have been invited to be a part of this.”

The result is a track that honors its roots while embracing the present—a poignant and powerful evolution of a song that has travelled with SULTANA for over a decade.

True to form, the recording process also had its moments of levity. As the final touches were being added, including bass guitar, there was an unexpected interruption from TASH’s dog.

“Right as the bass kicked in my dog went into the next room and took a massive stinking hot shit on the floor the size of an AFL football. Talk about a brown note, we were bonded” SULTANA recalls.

RETURN TO THE ROOTS is a raw, unfiltered dive back into the heart of their artistry. Stripping away the pressure of commercial success, this six-track collection rekindles the spirit of spontaneous creation—the very essence that first ignited their career.

The EP was rolled out with first single “Milk & Honey”—which earned rotation on triple j, topped the AMRAP Metro Charts, received praise from Rolling Stone (Australia), and landed on key DSP playlists like Spotify’s The Local List and Apple’s Heaps Indie. This momentum is continued with the latest release “Hold On,” with support from triple j, DSP playlisting across Spotify’s Pop’N’Fresh and Apple’s New in Indie, and online love from The Music, Rolling Stone, and AU Review.

Fresh from selling out Red Rocks in Colorado in minutes, TASH SULTANA has recently announced a massive 2025 U.S. tour. Bringing their signature electrifying energy and genre-blurring sound to fans nationwide, this tour is set to be nothing short of unforgettable. Tickets are available now via tashsultana.com

With a career spanning over a decade, TASH SULTANA’s accomplishments speak volumes: selling out shows at global arenas and iconic venues, headlining major festivals, 15 ARIA nominations, and the 2023 Rolling Stone (Australia) Global Artist Award. Yet, for TASH, the journey is far from over. With their unwavering drive to push creative boundaries and a focus on building a broader legacy as an entrepreneur and mentor, TASH continues to shape the industry on their own terms.

RETURN TO THE ROOTS is a fearless declaration of resilience, reinvention, and the boundless power of self-expression.
