Anyone who’s been attending the “Hot Vegas Nights” residency by FRANKY & THE ALL NIGHTERS since its launch this past June at Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas knows that band frontman FRANKY PEREZ specializes in raising roofs. The charismatic singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and Vegas native FRANKY PEREZ—along with his eight accomplished musicians including ace guitarist Christian Brady, two background vocalists, and three dancers—are set to bring the house down again for the final and seventh show of their residency on Friday, October 18 at 9pm in the hotel’s Rocks Lounge showroom. Doors are at 8pm and admission is free.

“I’ve been doing this for a while, and one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to listen to and observe your audience,” says FRANKY. “You figure out what works and what doesn’t, then you trim the fat. Sometimes it requires tough decisions, like cutting songs you may love because they don’t fit the scope of a particular set. I enjoy it when a show takes you on an emotional journey, making you feel like you’re in it with the band for 90 minutes. I think we’ve achieved that, but we continue to tweak the show, as I firmly believe you can always do better—the audience deserves your best. On October 18, you can expect to see a band that wants nothing more than to blow you away! And we have some special guests who’ll be joining us.”

She outdid herself on that one, and it’s honestly something to be seen! As far as covers go, our take on ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is something else! Take Zep, Ike and Tina, Santana, and Tower of Power, throw them in a blender, pour it over ice, and you have our version. It’s a showstopper!”

•In what ways has the band grown as a musical unit during the residency?

When you have a band this size, it can be challenging to manage, but somehow, we make it work. I’m very selective about who I bring on stage—not only do you have to be an exceptional player, but you also need to see the bigger picture and carry yourself as if you have no doubt that you’re part of something special. I love and believe in every player and dancer in this band. What you see on stage is genuine; everyone is here for the right reasons.

•The audience response has been ecstatic, with plenty of love from locals who know you as well as hotel guests. Can you shed some light on how that audience response has galvanized you and the band?

This is my hometown, where I cut my teeth as an entertainer. The fact that people still come out after all these years, and that the audience continues to grow, means the world to me. All the hard work and dedication is paying off! This residency has been a dream.

•Are you able to talk about what Franky & The All Nighters have coming up?

“We love playing Red Rock! It’s been my home base for a long time, and I will play there as long as they’ll have me. However, we also have our eyes set on a national audience and a showroom on the Strip!”

Buzzed-about UK band KillerStar is led by Rob Fleming (vocals, guitar, synths) and James Sedge (drums) which features an array of David Bowie’s most trusted collaborators. The band will make their U.S. concert debut on Saturday, November 2 at the Cutting Room in NYC. Watch a sizzle reel for the show HERE.

At this NYC show, Fleming and Sedge will perform with Bowie band alumni Mike Garson, Mark Plati, and Gerry Leonard. They will be joined by Dom Beken (from Nick Mason‘s Saucerful of Secrets) and Grammy Award winner and saxophonist Andy Snitzer as well as Ulrika Bergelind and Nicki Richards on backing vocals. Rob Fleming says, “We’re excited to be playing our first KillerStar USA live show in NYC. Whilst it’s a first for KillerStar, it’s a city where some of the band live and many of them have gigged before, like the David Bowie band alumni Mike Garson, Mark Plati, and Gerry Leonard, plus, Dom Beken with Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets and of course New York locals Nicki Richards and Andy Snitzer. NYC is such a vibrant city with an amazing musical legacy, and we can’t wait to play the Cutting Room on Nov 2.”

KillerStar released their self-titled debut album on March 1, 2024, receiving critical acclaim with 4★ reviews in The Times, MOJO, and RNR Magazine and was named one of “The 12 most exciting acts in the world right now” by Q magazine. They followed it with a headlining packed-out album launch show (March 16) at London’s 100 Club. Almost one year later on March 8, 2025, they will return to The 100 Club and musicians joining Fleming and Sedge are Mike Garson, Mark Plati, Dom Beken, Kevin Armstrong, Ulrika Bergelind with guest Simon Bates.

Last month, the band rolled out the video for a new version of the track “Falling Through” from their upcoming KillerStar Reimagined album, due out October 11 on vinyl and digitally. “The songs on the album are a mix of quite radical new versions of the original album and remixes, for which Mark Plati did much of the production work,” says band co-founder Rob Fleming. KillerStar express timeless ‘70s musicianship and art-rock invention through a contemporary prism, highlighted by the singles “Got Me All Wrong,” “Falling Through,” You’re A Chameleon and “Should’ve Known Better.” The band was formed by Fleming and Sedge to capture a sound that they felt was missing: one that linked the current resurgence of psychedelia, the contemporary indie and alternative scenes, and the primal rush of early ‘70s rock ‘n’ roll. With songs exuding gritty rock ‘n’ roll and time-honoured glamour, the record was full written and arranged by Rob and James before being completed by some suitably top tier collaborators. Mixing was provided by Dave Eringa, best known for his long-term creative connection with Manic Street Preachers, while digital mastering was provided by Joe La Porta and vinyl mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. ROSS VALORY has just debuted a performance video series—via the original Journey bassist and songwriter’s YouTube channel—with a cover of Jimmy Smith’s “Root Down.” Watch the “Root Down” performance HERE.

The series was filmed at ROSS’ Northern California studio and features VALORY, bass; Bobby Strickland, sax; Paul Spina, drums; Eric Levy, keyboards; and Vernon “Ice” Black, guitar, vocals. This initial video will be followed by new ones every Thursday for the next three weeks.

“Until I play out, I’m Playing In!” ROSS says when asked if he’ll be doing live shows.

Earlier this year, VALORY released his debut solo album ALL OF THE ABOVE (OID Music). Produced by VALORY and co-produced by Eric Levy and Jacob Stowe, the nine tracks on the album represent the full maturity of VALORY’s musical gifts, cutting a broad swath through the instrumental territory the music travels. He plays keyboards, guitar, and, of course, many basses in a display of cultivated virtuosity across a palette far broader than could be found in his work with Journey.

He is stepping out from behind his bass and, for the first time in his more than half-century as a professional musician, representing his vision and his compositions. The album has been accompanied by five videos so far, all directed by Michael Cotton: “Tomland” (the album’s hypnotic first single), “Wild Kingdom (with its Latin-fired intensity), and “Windmill” (defined by its Brazilian flair), his interpretation of War’s classic cruising anthem “Low Rider” and “Nightflower” (a pastoral ribbon of music featuring Journey founding member George Tickner and Steve Roseman of Cold Blood).

THE HU released a live recording of their groundbreaking debut performance at the legendary Glastonbury festival in Somerset, UK in 2023, THE HU LIVE AT GLASTONBURY, earlier this year via Better Noise Music It includes popular tracks from their 2019 breakthrough debut The Gereg—which debuted at #1 on the World Album and Top New Artist Charts—and its 2022 follow-up album Rumble Of Thunder, both released via Better Noise Music.

THE HU have received critical acclaim from the likes of Billboard, NPR, GQ, The Guardian, The Independent, Revolver, and even Sir Elton John himself. The journey to bring Dimebag Darrell’s Cannabis From Hell to life began three years ago at Aftershock. Scott “SVH” Von Heldt, CEO of Higher Vibes Solutions and Co-Founder of Dimebag Darrell’s Cannabis From Hell brand recalls a fateful conversation with Rita Haney, trustee and widow of Dimebag Darrell. “I was there representing one of my cannabis clients when I met Rita and asked if she’d ever considered doing a cannabis brand in Dime’s honor.
