THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT are firing on all cylinders with GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY, their second full-length album and debut for Better Noise Music, out today, Friday, September 13. The rising Emo rock band will celebrate the album’s release and Friday the 13^th holiday with a special acoustic performance at Silver Scream Con (Ice Nine Kills’ annual horror convention) R.I.P. Party alongside stand-up comedian/actor Jamie Kennedy tonight in Worcester, MA. THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s current single, “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills),” has jumped into the Top 10 Active Rock radio charts at #8 via Billboard and #9 via Mediabase, marking it the band’s highest chart showing to date. The song also entered the Top 10 Rock Radio Charts in Germany at #9 showcasing the project’s international impact.

GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY—available now via digital download, CD, and vinyl HERE—consists of 14 tracks of theatrical, dramatic, unapologetic, full-throated flair with guest appearances from Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Eva Under Fire. GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY presents a refuge for THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s devoted fanbase, ‘The Coffin Crew.’ The band partnered with The Hot Topic Foundation to further their support of non-profit music, art, LGBTQ+ and mental health organizations for youth and teens with the release of their 2023 cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” The band have continuously supported mental health awareness and advocacy across their music and social media platforms. This week, as part of National Suicide Prevention Month, JENNINGS shared his own story of overcoming depression on World Suicide Prevention Day (September 11). Read it HERE.

ABOUT DAVE DAMIANI

Dave Damiani is an American singer, songwriter, producer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Having started as a bartender at the famed Charlie O’s Jazz Club in Valley Village, CA, Dave Damiani had the opportunity to work, learn and become friends with some of the best musicians on the planet. Legends like Earl Palmer, Marty Harris, Ross Tompkins, Sam Most, Teddy Edwards, John Heard, Roy McCurdy, Frank Capp, Ernie McDaniel, Dini Clarke, Danny Grissett, George Gaffney, Mark Murphy, and Richie Cole (just to name a few) took time to mentor Dave Damiani, share stories and chord changes.

ABOUT BENNY BENACK III

By age 33, Emmy-nominated Trumpeter and Vocalist Benny Benack III has already become a leading voice in Jazz for his generation, headlining clubs and festivals around the world on the heels of his latest critically acclaimed album “Third Time’s the Charm” which ascended to #2 on the JazzWeek International Radio Charts in 2023. He is the rare talent who is just as formidable as a fiery trumpeter ranging from Freddie Hubbard to Louis Armstrong and everyone in between, while as a singer he delivers sly, mature, naturally expressive post-Sinatra vocal stylings.

His sophomore album “A Lot of Livin’ to Do” (2020) featured the likes of bass luminary Christian McBride, achieving viral online fame w/his vocalese rendition of “Social Call” ft. Veronica Swift that’s been transcribed and covered by singers around the world. He has crooned his way to millions of more listeners alongside groups such as the Grammy-winning “8-Bit Big Band” and YouTube sensation “Postmodern Jukebox”.

His double-threat credentials were first apparent when he was a finalist in the 2014 Thelonius Monk Competition on trumpet, and then won Third Place in the 2021 Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. ABOUT JOE LANO

Joe Lano is one of the jazz world’s best-kept secrets. As a world class guitarist, arranger and composer, Joe has been a mainstay of the Las Vegas and West Coast music scene for 50 years. Say the name Joe Lano in this part of the world and everyone immediately renders the highest accolades as to his expertise and unique qualities as a player. He has performed with nearly every major act in show business since moving to Las Vegas in 1964 including Frank Sinatra, Lena Horne, and Steve Lawrence, and has worked with a multitude of jazz greats, having performed for years at Alan Grant’s “Jazz at the Four Queens.” He was a student of guitarist and educator Dennis Sandole, who is noted for having been John Coltrane’s teacher.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Joe discovered his passion for music at a young age. He began playing the guitar when he was just 10 years old and quickly showed immense talent and dedication to his craft. He began working with bands in Philadelphia before he turned 13 years old.

With his group, “The Joe Lano Trio,” Joe showcases his abilities as both a soloist and arranger. The music is both old school and modern at the same time and features interesting arrangements of familiar and more obscure standard tunes. The group’s repertoire features not just great solos but also reharmonizations of these classic standards that are eminently listenable and swinging. One of the more enjoyable aspects of Joe’s writing that has become a band trademark are the challenging guitar/bass ensemble passages which are featured in several of the tunes. Also featured are several beautiful ballad arrangements in which Joe displays his unique interpretations of these timeless compositions.

Joe is accompanied by two longtime trio members and in-demand players in their own right: Jess Gopen on drums and Jeff Davis on bass. Together, they interpret Joe’s arrangements in an intuitive and swinging way. Jess, a graduate of Berklee College of Music, has played with Freddie Hubbard, Dave Valentine, Michael McDonald, and Ronnie Foster, among many others. Jeff is a longtime Vegas bassist and graduate of the University of Nevada Las Vegas Jazz Studies program and has performed with Pete Christlieb, Richie Cole, George Garzone, Brandon Fields, as well as numerous other big-name acts and shows.

ABOUT JOHN PROULX

John Proulx is an LA-based jazz pianist, vocalist, educator, composer and recording artist. He has four albums to his credit, and has performed with the likes of Anita O’Day, Natalie Cole, Melissa Manchester, Michael Feinstein, and Marian McPartland.

As an educator, he has taught jazz piano and jazz voice at Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Fullerton, and Azusa Pacific University. Currently, John creates content for an online jazz piano education website called pianowithjonny.com.

As a composer, John has co-written songs that have been recorded by many notable singers including Nancy Wilson, Melissa Manchester, Al Jarreau, Mary Stallings, and Deana Martin. John has written arrangements for Ann Hampton Callaway, Antonia Bennett, and Linda Purl. John has a new book of original piano pieces called “Soundscapes”, tailored to intermediate pianists interested in learning more about jazz harmony through beautiful and accessible songs. Buzzed-about UK band KillerStar today (September 11) roll out the video for a new version of the track “Falling Through” from their KillerStar Reimagined album, due out October 11 on vinyl and digitally. “The songs on the album are a mix of quite radical new versions of the original album and remixes, for which Mark Plati did much of the production work,” says band co-founder Rob Fleming. KillerStar is a new band led by Rob Fleming and James Sedge which features an array of David Bowie’s most trusted collaborators: Mike Garson on piano, Earl Slick and Mark Plati on guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey and Tim Lefebvre on bass, Emm Gryner on backing vocals, and Donny McCaslin on saxophone. Collectively they have crafted a sound which fuses the scale of classic rock with sophisticated harmonies and elements of art rock.

KillerStar released their self-titled debut album on March 1, 2024. It received critical acclaim with 4* reviews in The Times, MOJO, and RNR Magazine. They followed it with a headlining packed-out album launch show (March 16) at London’s 100 Club. The band’s founders Rob Fleming (vocals, guitar, synths) and James Sedge (drums) were joined by three of the album’s key musicians: keyboardist Mike Garson, guitarist Mark Plati, and vocalist Emm Gryner along with keyboardist Dom Beken (Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, The Orb) and guitarist Kevin Armstrong.

“There was so much music recorded for the KillerStar album we felt there were some alternate approaches to versions of the songs that would be exciting to hear. With that in mind, we set about working with Mark Plati to reimagine some of the songs. This meant in some cases adding some additional instrumentation, in others it meant remixing the tracks with new approaches in mind, sometimes bringing to the fore instrumental parts that were already recorded. Many of the songs sound radically different from the original KillerStar album.”

“We were excited to work with such a renowned producer as Mark who is already part of the KillerStar family, playing bass at our live shows. You can hear why Mark Plati was a producer of choice for bands such as The Cure and of course David Bowie. We also asked Catherine Anne Davies (also known as The Anchoress) to do a remix which is a really radical revamp of one of our songs (‘Should’ve Known Better’). We are really pleased with how the album turned out and we think Reimagined will be exciting for existing KillerStar fans to hear and also for people new to our music.”

KillerStar express timeless ‘70s musicianship and art-rock invention through a contemporary prism, highlighted by the singles “Got Me All Wrong,” “Falling Through”, You’re A Chameleon and “Should’ve Known Better.” The band was formed by Fleming and Sedge to capture a sound that they felt was missing: one that linked the current resurgence of psychedelia, the contemporary indie and alternative scenes, and the primal rush of early ‘70s rock ‘n’ roll.

With songs exuding gritty rock ‘n’ roll and time-honoured glamour, the record was full written and arranged by Rob and James before being completed by some suitably top tier collaborators. Mixing was provided by Dave Eringa, best known for his long-term creative connection with Manic Street Preachers, while digital mastering was provided by Joe La Porta and vinyl mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.

BILLY MORRISON, COREY TAYLOR, and STEVE VAI have joined forces on “Incite The Watch,” the new single and cutting-edge animated video from Billy’s recently released solo album THE MORRISON PROJECT via TLG | ZOID | Virgin Music Group. Today (September 10), a striking video for the song has been released. It depicts “flying superhero rockstars fighting against the corporate hordes and freeing music, creativity, and the enslaved masses!!” explains Billy. Watch the video—directed by Brett Boggs, whose credits include numerous Disney movies—HERE and see the quotes below from all three artists. It premiered yesterday via Revolver.

“Incite The Watch” is an intense, ominous rock track fueled by Taylor’s gripping vocals and Vai‘s massive, virtuosic guitar solo. It was written by Billy, Erik Eldenius, Jeordie White, and Taylor. The release of the single follows Billy’s seismic #1 Active Rock Song and smash video “Crack Cocaine” featuring OZZY OSBOURNE and STEVE STEVENS and co-written by the three artists.

The “Incite The Watch” video was produced utilizing a revolutionary combination of artist- created character animation with a state-of-the-art application called CineTech to create AI-generated backgrounds and visual effects. This concept led to the advent of distinct, art-directed imagery on a tighter deadline. By utilizing human creativity with concept driven CineTech imagery, the video has a unique look that matches the brilliance of the music and allows the listener to visually join the story.

Alt rock group FINISH TICKET are excited to release their second full-length album ECHO AFTERNOON today, September 6, via Better Noise Music. FINISH TICKET—Hoye, Alex DiDonato (guitar), Gabe Stein (drums), and Ryan Blair (bass)— made their debut late-night TV performance on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien” following the release of their 2014 debut album Tears You Apart (Atlantic Records) and a wave of sold-out shows across the Bay Area.

In 2019, FINISH TICKET self-released their hit track “Dream Song,” which garnered over 4.2 million streams and saw the band embark on a successful headlining tour, selling out multiple venues across the country. Then COVID hit in 2020 and brought everything to a halt.

After spending the past three years writing and recording their second full-length album, Echo Afternoon, FINISH TICKET signed a record deal with Better Noise Music.
