A&E Network’s Emmy Award winning “Biography” banner will premiere a new documentary special celebrating one of rock’s biggest stars. Featuring exclusive interviews and archival footage, “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” delves into the many lives and incredible career of the man who has personified rock and roll rebellion for decades. “Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” will premiere on Labor Day (Monday, September 7) at 9:00 PM (ET/PT).  Watch a preview here.
 
“Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” traces OZZY‘s life from his childhood in poverty and time in prison, to fronting the iconic Black Sabbath and a successful solo career, to one of rock’s elder statesman and a loveable 21st century television dad. The two-hour documentary explores how OZZY has continually reinvented himself and his career to propel himself toward greater success. As the Grammy-winning artist turns 70, he reflects on the intimate details of his successes, failures, and his unique ability for survival and perseverance-including never-before-seen interviews about his recent Parkinson’s diagnosis. The documentary, a selection of the 2020 SXSW Film Festival, also features interviews with Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne as well as friends and fellow musicians including Rick Rubin, Ice-T, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Jonathan Davis, Post Malone and more.
 
The documentary follows a busy 2020 for OSBOURNE. His critically acclaimed ORDINARY MAN album–released in February–marked OSBOURNE‘s first new solo music in almost 10 years. It was the #1 rock album in the world, topping multiple charts in its triumphant first week of release. Worldwide, ORDINARY MANentered the charts in the Top Ten in seven countries making it the highest charting album of OZZY‘s career. Recorded in Los Angeles, the album features producer Andrew Watt on guitars, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) on bass and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums. Beyond the core band, ORDINARY MAN, features a who’s-who of OZZY friends and collaborators including Elton John, Slash, Post Malone, and Tom Morello.
 
“Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne” is produced by Osbourne Media and Critical Content for A&E Network. The documentary is produced and directed by R. Greg Johnston. To mark one of the biggest gaming title launches of the year, PlayStation®4 exclusive The Last of Us™ Part II, PlayStation Australia worked with multi-instrumentalist and global sensation acclaimed artist TASH SULTANA to re-record “Through The Valley”–the iconic track from the game’s reveal trailer that went viral in 2016. Due to overwhelming demand, the release of TASH‘s cover of “Through The Valley” is available now on Mom+Pop.
 
“This is the first time I’ve done a collab like this,” TASH says. “Usually, it’s kinda just like writing sessions with other musos but this is for a game and it’s different as it’s not my usual style to venture into so I’m completely honored to be asked to do something like this. The reaction has been amazing and it’s been great hearing all the positive messages from everyone so I wanted to make sure the song was available everywhere.”
 
The original track by U.S. blues and folk artist Shawn James is sung by lead character Ellie in The Last of Us™ Part II reveal trailer and tells a dark tale of struggle and someone who, by the grace of their own killer instinct, does not fear. The song is reminiscent of Ellie’s experience in a cruel post-pandemic world.

SINGLE MUSIC, the leading music distribution toolkit for Shopify, continues to expand boundaries with their innovative app that allows direct-to-consumer sales for artists, labels and merch companies as they introduce a new feature–bringing ticketed live streams into an artist’s existing store.
Artists are now able to sell tickets to and perform a live stream along with a built-in moderated fan chatroom, directly from their store. Tickets can be bundled with a merch item or to raise money for a charitable cause.

Los Angeles alternative rock group SONS OF SILVER today (July 17) released “Rude Awakenings,” a new video from their DOOMSDAY NOISES EP. The propaganda art clip captures sentiments that reflect the current state of the world with political imagery alongside the song’s strong lyrics. Watch the video here.
 
“I was stockpiling song ideas when I came up with the basic ideas for ‘Rude Awakenings,” the band’s frontman Peter Argyropoulos explains. “I wasn’t looking to finish anything. In fact, I was only looking for incomplete ideas that we would finish together. But then the basic foundation for ‘Rude Awakenings’ just came out. I played it for Brina along with a few other ideas the next day. She was really into it. But, I back-burner’ed it. I was unsure if it fit with the other songs we were in the middle of. Nonetheless, she persisted and won out. When the guys heard it, they said, ‘why didn’t we hear this sooner?’ I think it took us about twenty minutes to put it all together and take it to a completely different level than I’d originally expected it could be at. It really highlights each of our influences from the rockabilly rhythm section to the punk-bluesy guitars, to the Stonesy woo-hoos. A great team effort. Credit Brina [Kabler, the band’s keyboardist and engineer] especially for not letting the song slip through the cracks.”
 
SONS OF SILVER’s collaborative songwriting style, signature sound and collective years of experience is what make them such a standout phenom in the alt rock scene. Led by Peter Argyropoulos, SONS OF SILVER features original Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen, Candlebox bassist Adam Kury, Skillet guitarist Kevin Haaland and keyboardist and esteemed engineer Brina Kabler. Logging nearly 80 shows per year, the musicians were more united than ever back in the studio. On DOOMSDAY NOISES, songs spun off from jam sessions as a unit and the writing process relied on their musical interplay.
 
“Rude Awakenings” marks the third video released from the DOOMSDAY NOISES EP. It follows two powerful singles and videos: World On Fire” and Read ‘Em Their Rights,the latter of which has garnered nearly a million views so far and is climbing the rock radio charts. Listen to the EP here.

With his debut album in final preparations, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, musician ERIC HIRSHBERG has released a song suited for these tumultuous times. “(Keep Mar-a-Lago But) I Want America Back” is from HIRSHBERG‘s forthcoming debut album, SPARE ROOM, due out later this summer. “(Keep Mar-a-Lago But) I Want America Back” was written over the past few years since Trump took office. The song’s propulsive energy and lyrics mince no words, articulating the frustration that Hirshberg–and the majority of Americans–feel with the current occupant of The White House. The song’s powerful chorus states, “Keep Mar-a-Lago, but I want America back.”
 
ERIC explains, “”With a chorus like ‘Keep Mar-a-Lago, but I want America back,’ I don’t think there’s any way for me to sugar coat–this is an anti-Donald Trump song. I’m not trying to convince anyone who disagrees with me to agree with me. I’m just trying to create a sonic release valve for my unspeakable levels of frustration at the current state of things in America, and offering it up to those who do agree with me. The photos which serve as the foundation for the video were taken at The Women’s March in both New York and LA, the March for Our Lives in LA, and at various Black Lives Matter protests around the country–all since Trump took office. It works as a sort of sad scrapbook for the near constant state of protest we’ve been in for the past three and a half years.”

To coincide with today’s release of her new EP LIVE AT THE VILLAGE, singer-songwriter SUNNY OZELL has released a video for her personally poignant cover of Los Lobos“The Valley.” Watch the clip here.
 
“I believe Los Lobos to be one of America’s greatest living rock bands,” SUNNY says. “Their body of work is wide and remarkable, with composition and musicianship that is acutely human, organic, and intelligent. But their approach to the actual ‘auditory experience’ of their music adds layers of meaning for me as listener, and I find that their sonic choices only serve to push their music into that realm of the ineffable, where you can’t quite put your finger on why you’re crying, you just know that you’re deeply moved.  And to my mind, ‘The Valley’ is a great example of this kind of profound synthesis between form and content.”
 
The all-acoustic LIVE AT THE VILLAGE EP is comprised of “The Valley” and raw and affecting versions of four songs from her OVERNIGHT LOWS album (released earlier this year). The EP was recorded live at the historic Village Studios in Los Angeles. Listen here.
 
The tracks on LIVE AT THE VILLAGE all hold a very meaningful sense of place both geographically and spiritually. “Driving Highways” references the landscape of SUNNY‘s home state of Nevada, and the English countryside is conjured in “The Garden.” The themes of the transience of travel and memory factor into “Comes And It Goes.”
