UNESCO “Artist of Peace” designees THE HU have become a global sensation with their groundbreaking blend of traditional Mongolian throat singing and native instrumentation with modern western rock which they describe as “hunnu rock.” Their namesake, “Hu,” corresponds to the root of the word “human being” in Mongolian and represents their commitment to spread awareness for cultural diversity, respect for nature and equality for humankind throughout their music. To celebrate World Earth Day (April 22), THE HU have announced plans to plant 12,000 Siberian Elm trees in the desert-barren area of Southeastern Mongolia in the shape of their logo–a one-horned leopard, based off an ancient symbol used by the Hun tribes. The LandArt campaign is in partnership with the environmental institution, SHAMBALE2056 Engineering Campus, LLC, which has been relentlessly working in the area on several restoration projects and eco-friendly irrigation and energy systems. The trees being planted are Siberian Elms due to their strong root system and low water requirements which will help fight the rapid deforestation of the Gobi because of sandstorms and climate change. Digging efforts will begin in May and THE HU will offer fans the opportunity to purchase a tree to help fund the cause, details of which will be announced in the coming weeks.

As midnight strikes in Ulaanbaatar on World Earth Day, THE HU have shared the English-translated lyric video for their environment-focused single “Mother Nature,” taken from the forthcoming deluxe version of their 2022 album RUMBLE OF THUNDER due June 30 via Better Noise Music.

“Everyone in this world belongs to a mother and this song narrates the similarities between one’s relationship with their mother and the connection between humans and the Earth,” describes THE HU. “In a way, Earth is another mother that bore us to this world. In Mongolia, mothers are highly regarded and respected and we believe that even after death, their soul protects their child as their love is limitless.”

To date, THE HU have amassed over 329 million combined streams across digital platforms, 290 million video views, two Top 5 Mainstream Rock charting radio singles, sold-out worldwide headlining tours and appearances at the world’s biggest music festivals (Download, Coachella, Lollapalooza). For the RUMBLE OF THUNDER: DELUXE ALBUM, the band will add four acoustic renditions and three newly recorded singles featuring guest appearances and English vocals from some of the genre’s top acts including William DuVall (Alice In Chains), Serj Tankian (System Of A Down), LP and DL (Bad Wolves). DATE: APRIL 20 ,2023

FROM: MITCH SCHNEIDER/MARCEE RONDAN/ANDREA FAULK

BRIT FLOYD—THE WORLD’S GREATEST PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE—
CONFIRM TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO HISTORIC
RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE
WITH SOLD-OUT
JUNE 9 SHOW

SHOW IS PART OF THE GROUP’S
ONGOING “50 YEARS OF DARK SIDE”
100-DATE 2023 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

BRIT FLOYD—The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Experience—have confirmed their annual appearance at the historic RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATRE with a sold-out June 9 show. This marks the group’s 11th consecutive appearance at the venue (with many sold out); their previous appearances at Red Rocks have been captured on a DVD, CD and PBS special. The June 9 performance–produced in partnership with PBS12–is part of Brit Floyd’s “50 Years of Dark Side” ongoing 2023 North American Tour. The 100-date tour kicked off April 12 (see full list of dates below).

“50 Years of Dark Side” celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s album masterpiece The Dark Side of the Moon. For this year’s world tour–featuring over two and a half hours of Pink Floyd music encompassing the band’s iconic career–the team have created a show that includes state-of-the-art visuals (lights, lasers and animation) which are all presented with immersive soundscapes and virtuosic musicianship.

Formed in 2011, Brit Floyd features performances supported by an immense, immaculately curated state of the art production, reverently emulating the stunning soundscapes and visuals of Pink Floyd’s iconic catalog. Brit Floyd is a celebration of authenticity, featuring musicians handpicked by Damian Darlington. The 2023 touring band includes Darlington (Guitarist, Vocalist and Musical Director), Ian Cattell (Vocals, Bass), Edo Scordo (Guitars, Vocals), Matt Riddle (Keyboards, Synths, Hammond, Vocals), Arran Ahmun (Drums, Percussions), Ryan Saranich (Saxophone, Percussions, Guitars, Bass, Keyboards), Randy Cooke (Drums and Percussion), Eva Avila (Lead and Backing Vocals), Genevieve Little (Backing Vocals), Jessie Lee Houllier (Backing Vocals) and Chess Galea (Backing Vocals). Historically, the shows have featured guest appearances from musicians from Pink Floyd’s studio and road line-ups: bassist/vocalist Guy Pratt joined Brit Floyd onstage at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in 2013 and Pink Floyd saxophonist/guitarist Scott Page has performed with the band on numerous occasions, as have Pink Floyd backing vocalists Roberta Freeman and Durga McBroom.

The first leg of the 2023 tour dates are as follows with additional shows to be announced in the coming weeks.

Comprised of veterans of all four branches of the military, alternative rock outfit SILENCE & LIGHT were formed out of Raleigh, NC in 2017 by former Army Ranger and Special Forces soldier and rhythm guitarist Jason Everman (ex-Nirvana, Soundgarden) and former Delta Force Operator and lead guitarist Brad Thomas. The band has now announced their sophomore album COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA… will be released on June 23 with a portion of profits being donated to non-profit organizations that support veterans and first responders. To date, the band has donated over $5,000 in royalties to organizations including Warrior’s Heart.

The album’s debut single “Slinky” will be available to stream and/or download across digital platforms tomorrow, April 21; pre-save it HERE. SILENCE & LIGHT have shared the music video for “Slinky” today (April 20) which features behind-the-scenes clips taken during the COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA… recording sessions with co-producer Dick Hodgin (Hootie & The Blowfish, Corrosion of Conformity). Watch it streaming below or on YouTube HERE.

“’Slinky’ is an angsty but upbeat song that taps into the bands roots in the 1990’s grunge movement,” shared SILENCE & LIGHT collectively. “It’s a sonic throwback.”

SILENCE & LIGHT–which in addition to Everman and Thomas includes former Marine Raider Tyson Stahl on bass, Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Fred Cowell on vocals and Navy veteran Justin Myers on drums—have performed across the US with acts including Lenny Kravitz, Old Dominion Band and Third Eye Blind as well as having appeared at several fundraising concerts for veteran causes. The band will be seen performing at The Eagle’s Dare in downtown Wilmington, NC as part of the city’s “Free Concert Friday” music series on June 23. The show is free and proceeds from the event will be going to support the Marine Raider Foundation.

Lineup (l-r): Kevin Figueiredo, Gary Cherone, Pat Badger, Nuno Bettencourt

Multi-platinum hard rock icons EXTREME’s latest single “Rise” has seen unprecedented success following its debut on March 1 alongside a fiery music video which has received over 2 million views to date. The critically acclaimed song, from their new album SIX out June 9 via earMUSIC, has earned praise from international top tier media outlets including Consequence, Classic Rock, Music Radar and Guitar World in addition to accolades from such fellow musical peers as Brian May and radio personality Howard Stern while peaking at #3 on the Classic Rock charts.

The band—Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Badger (bass), and Kevin Figueiredo (drums)—have today (April 19) shared two new singles along with dazzling videos to accompany each: “Banshee” and “#Rebel.” Watch both streaming below or visit HERE for “Banshee” and HERE for “#REBEL.”

Banshee” is a seductive classic hard rock tune with a chugging rhythm section, playful guitar wizardry and electrifying vocals that testify to the power and inspiration of the female form and spirit.” “#REBEL” takes on scathing so-called keyboard warriors with its head-nodding beat and searing dive bomb lead guitar runs catering to the harder edges of EXTREME’s sound. “We’re calling out those trolls who can’t back up their words,” explains Cherone.

EXTREME are also excited to announce they will bring SIX’s music to audiences across the globe on the “Thicker Than Blood Tour.” The tour will see the band visit North America from August 2-29 and Australia from September 6-13 where they will be joined by special guests Living Colour. EXTREME will also continue to bring the “Thicker Than Blood Tour” to audiences in Japan from September 17-26. Tickets for Japan will go on sale April 22. GA tickets and VIP upgrades–which include access to the band’s soundcheck–for the North American dates will go on sale Friday, April 21 at 10:00 A.M. local time as well as tickets for Australia.

On SIX, EXTREME swing between unapologetic fits of fret-burning hard rock and intimately introspective balladry. For the recording of the Bettencourt-produced 12-track album, the members buckled down at his home studio in Los Angeles to channel the electrifying eclecticism that defined their seminal output with a 21st century twist.

This dynamic affirms the iconic Boston quartet as one of rock’s most unpredictable, undeniable, and unbreakable groups whose songs course through the very fabric of popular culture. They’re the rare band whose music has appeared in an actual cult series a la Bill & Ted as well as the Netflix juggernaut “Stranger Things.” They’ve sold 10 million records, topped the Billboard Hot 100 at #1, packed major venues on multiple continents, memorably performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in London, and regularly average over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. However, their dynamic approach hits harder than ever on their 2023 full-length offering, SIX.

“PURE CHANTS” TOUR INTRODUCES

For over 20 years, more than three million people in 31 countries have been enchanted by GREGORIAN’s live performances. These eight classically trained English vocalists have never failed to bring their audiences to their feet…multiple times…at EVERY show.

Nemo Studio is proud to announce that GREGORIAN is bringing its first-ever North American tour to theaters and performing arts centers in the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024, with 30-45 concerts currently being planned in the U.S., Mexico and Latin America, featuring special guest performers Amelia Brightman and sensational male sopranist Narcis.

“It is always a big challenge for an act to tour new markets, “says Michael Kelley, VP Performing Arts, New Frontier Touring. “For me, it is an honor and a privilege to be booking this unique music project for the first time in the US.”

In 1999, the GREGORIAN triumph began with their initial album Masters Of Chant, which earned multiple gold and platinum awards across Europe and Asia.  The project’s creator, renowned producer Frank Peterson, who had previously broken ground as co-creator of the Enigma project, consequently pursued his idea of merging pop/rock music with chorale in the style of medieval chants.

With GREGORIAN, Peterson created and established a unique music genre. GREGORIAN’s 20-year success-story has resulted in more than 10 million albums sold, sold-out arena concerts and a constantly growing worldwide fan base.

Peterson, who has produced all of Sarah Brightman’s albums over the past 30 years and brought Andrea Bocelli to international fame, says, “I am extremely excited about finally touring my pet project GREGORIAN in North America, and I hope that in the next few years we can build an equally ecstatic audience like we did all over Europe and Asia.”

In times that leave little room for reflection, GREGORIAN have become a global phenomenon. Their music and concerts are spiritually uplifting and their unique presentation allows their audience to escape from everyday life in a wondrous way–the current CD PURE CHANTS and the planned World Tour 2023-2024 continues this legacy.

The tour will be supported by the PURE CHANTS I and II album releases, plus GREGORIAN plans to film a spectacular television special in a very unique venue for world-wide broadcast and streaming to support the global tour dates.

Local public television stations have also been supporting the upcoming tour with a broadcast of a television special showcasing some of the best live moments from the European shows over the years, and offering premium items only available via the stations, including VIP concert tickets with a meet & greet, PURE CHANTS I & II box set, PURE CHANTS DVD, and the Gregorian EarBook coffee table book.

With four Top 10 singles, over 600 million all-time streams and more than 75 million video views to date, FROM ASHES TO NEW deliver a distinctive blend of hard rock, hip-hop, electronic and alternative music which will be further highlighted on their forthcoming album BLACKOUT due July 28 via Better Noise Music. The Lancaster, PA-based group will be giving fans across the U.S. a sneak preview of new material as they continue their current tour alongside rock luminaries Shinedown and Three Days Grace throughout May 9, followed by a short run of dates alongside Bullet For My Valentine surrounding festival appearances including Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple.

General public tickets go on sale today, Friday, April 14 at 10:00 A.M. local time at https://fromashestonew.com/tour. A full list of upcoming tour dates can be found at the bottom of this page.

BLACKOUT conceptually acts as a prequel to FROM ASHES TO NEW’s 2016 debut album DAY ONE and encapsulates the distress of a pre-apocalyptic world mirroring the frame of mind the world felt during the 2020 pandemic at which time the album was written. The 12-track album was recorded with FROM ASHES TO NEW’s longtime collaborators and producers Grant McFarland and Carson Slovak to deliver a fresh spin on the sound that broke them onto the scene. With previously released tracks including “Until We Break (feat. Matty Mullins of Memphis Mayfire),” “Nightmare,” “Heartache” and their latest single, “Hate Me Too,” FROM ASHES TO NEW captivate listeners with heavy driven music and angsty lyrics that all walks of people can find common ground with. Modern blues rock band DUSTIN DOUGLAS & THE ELECTRIC GENTLEMEN today (April 12) roll out the video for the moody acoustic ballad “Change” ahead of this Friday’s release of their third album BLACK LEATHER BLUES on MoMojo Records. Watch the video, directed by Jonathan Edwards and filmed on location in the band’s home state of Pennsylvania, HERE. Pre-save the album HERE.

DUSTIN’s soulful vocals and aching electric guitar lines in “Change” underline the song’s blunt lyrics about wanting to move beyond a life that has become stagnant. “It was one of those times in life when the same daily routine, same scenery, same songs on the radio, same everything just became monotonous and boring,” reveals the singer, songwriter and guitarist about what inspired him to write the song. “Lyrically it really doesn’t beat around the bush—I just wanted a change from it all. I think a lot of people can relate.”

“Same old town
Same old regrets
Same old dreams
Ain’t come true yet
Same old show
On the same old TV
Same old you
Same old you and me
We need a change
We could use a little, change”

“I’ve always had a soft spot for a good ballad—I always try to throw at least one on every record,” explains DUSTIN. “The funny thing is, I didn’t set out to write a slower song for Black Leather Blues. I was almost against it, but something happened when I strummed those opening chords of what is now ‘Change.’ It just wrote itself and I’m very proud of it. Although it’s slower than some of our other material, I think the fans will be able to relate to the song and find the acoustic vibe a bit refreshing.”

DUSTIN continues, “This was the first non-performance video I’ve shot, and I certainly felt vulnerable at times not having a guitar or band to hide behind. Most times great things lie beyond that fear of vulnerability.”

To capture the song’s introspective mood, director Jonathan Edwards filmed the “Change” video in black and white. Most of the scenes were lensed, says DUSTIN, “in Pringle, PA in a remote area and a friend’s house and property. Other scenes were shot in Pittston PA. The diner scene was at my friend Victor’s Pizza Joint named Tony’s Pizza (shout out to Victor for the support!).”

The female role in the video is played by Amber Lynn Fisk. “That’s my wife” reveals DUSTIN. “This is her onscreen debut. After some convincing and bribery, I was able to convince her to be the lead role in the video. She killed it!” DUSTIN adds: “The viewer is led to believe the female character is walking away and changing her life, but the twist comes where the actual change involves the couple leaving together.”

Meanwhile, look for DUSTIN DOUGLAS & THE ELECTRIC GENTLEMEN to celebrate the release of BLACK LEATHER BLUES with a local show at River Street Jazz Café (667 N River St, Plains, PA 18705) on Saturday, April 22. Doors are at 8:00 PM.

Featuring 10 songs all written by Douglas, BLACK LEATHER BLUES highlights their dynamic, heavy, swagger-injected, sexy & dirty, blues-influenced rock n’ roll and captures the band’s vintage sound and vibe to modern ears. It was launched with the first single/video Brokenand followed by Why Would You Say Such A Thing”; watch it HERE. Rock & Blues Muse described the song as “a tough-toned blues/rock track with a big riff, a danceable beat, and a hard-nosed attitude.”

Fronted by the impressively fluid lead guitarist/singer/songwriter Dustin Douglas, The Electric Gentlemen—rounded out by drummer Tommy Smallcomb and bassist Matt “The Dane” Gabriel—command the stage with virtuosic musicianship and classic-rock spirit mixed with punk rock attitude. All I’m trying to do is continue the tradition of The Stones, Zeppelin and The Faces,” says Dustin Douglas. “Take the traditional blues spirit, mix it with some heavy rock n’ roll and play it for a new generation.

“But it ain’t your poppa’s blues,” he adds. “I listen to Rage Against the Machine as much as I listen to Muddy Waters. That blend of influences is what makes it unique.”

BLACK LEATHER BLUES was recorded at Eight Days a Week Studios in Northumberland, PA by Paul Smith (Badlees) who engineered and co-produced the album with Douglas. It was mixed by Brian Moncarz (Alice Cooper, Our Lady Peace, Phillip Sayce) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Black Keys, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, Buddy Guy, Doyle Bramhall II, Green Day, Liam Gallagher, Elvis Costello.) “Warmest congratulations to Bob McDill on receiving this great honor as one of the 2023 inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame. We also extend our congratulations to Bob’s co-inductees, Patty Loveless and Tanya Tucker.”

The Dan Seals Estate- immediate family: widow Andrea, children: Jim, Holley & Jesse.

“Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold),” a song co-written by Dan Seals and Bob McDill, is described as having been Dan’s personal anthem and probably the most important song they wrote together. Seals was once quoted as saying: “Working with McDill is like sitting at the master’s feet. He’s incredible.” (Deseret News, Mar 15,1991)

Watch this live performance HERE of Dan Seals singing “Everything That Glitters (Is Not Gold),” as part of the “Ryman Country Homecoming” show.

Producer Kyle Lehning says: “Every time Danny would come back from writing with you, Bob, we knew it would be special. ‘Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold,’ among many others, being the proof. Congratulations on your induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Well done and well-deserved.”

Tony Gottlieb, Dan’s longtime manager, recalls that “Dan would often say ‘writing with Bob was so easy, that it felt like God finished the songs for them.’ But often, I couldn’t figure out what Dan and Bob liked better, writing songs or going fly-fishing together.”

Additional songs co-written with McDill and recorded by Seals are:

  • “My Baby’s Got Good Timing – (1984, Capitol Records, Album: San Antone – Peaked at #2 on US Hot Country Songs (Billboard) and in #2 Canada)
