NYC-based trio NEVRLANDS are excited to share a second track “Chemicals” from their forthcoming debut full-length LP TIMELESS due this fall via Better Noise Music. The trio—vocalist OKAN KAZDAL, guitarist LOUIE MALPELI, and drummer MIKEY PITTELLI—have today (August 11) released “Chemicals” across all digital platforms HERE and released a lyric video for the song which can be seen HERE or streaming below.

“‘Chemicals’ is about catching yourself in the heat of the moment,” shares NEVRLANDS collectively. “About painting a portrait of passion and finding that distinction between love and lust in real-time. There’s a very fine line that can sometimes be blurry, or sometimes it’s crystal clear. Is this real? Or is it just another fugazi? ‘Chemicals’ is all about questioning whether or not that perfect chemical connection will last once the moment ends.”

Aiming to provide listeners with relatable lyrics that provide a positive escape from life’s struggles, NEVRLANDS deliver a sonic blend of in-your-face rock n roll with grooving alternative rock and captivating pop-punk melodies. The group issued the LP’s debut track “Stay” in late June which Wolf In A Suit praised stating, “There’s something about the track that just hits the spot from the moment you press play…It’s a one-of-a-kind soundscape bound to be a fan favorite and a perfect way to explore the magic of their infectious sound.”

NEVRLANDS produce, compose and write their own music, finding inspiration from their own personal introspective experiences including love, loss, struggle, triumph, strength, mental health, and self-acceptance. The trio embrace forward-thinking adaptions and methods to create their music such as using nontraditional instrumentation and samples as heard on their 2016 debut single “Rescue Me.” The band have captivated audiences online with their unique live recorded video versions of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” covering artists such as Dua Lipa and The Weeknd in a Tesla using real instruments and Tesla Trax software. With her new solo album SECOND CHANCES coming out this Friday, August 11 via Blackbird Record Label, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer ABBY POSNER provides an anthem for all of the “outsiders” with her single “The Starting Line.” The music video for “The Starting Line” was exclusively premiered yesterday (August 8) via The Bluegrass Situation. ABBY has shared the clip publicly today (August 9) via her YouTube channel HERE and it can also be seen streaming below. The video presents “The Starting Line” in a stripped-down live setting filmed with Los Angeles’ serene Temescal Canyon in the background. ABBY performs vocals/ banjo and is accompanied by Paula Fong on backing vocals/guitar and Phil Glenn on fiddle/backing vocals.

“I really wanted to do a stripped-down live version of this song, because I didn’t want it to be perfect or overproduced,” shares ABBY. “The rawness is an important part of the song’s overall message. I have spent a lot of time in Temescal Canyon meditating, hiking and unplugging from the sometimes-chaotic hustle and bustle of LA! This is a place where I have always been able to self-reflect and see things more clearly.”

Reflecting on the message behind “The Starting Line,” ABBY, who identifies as queer (they/she), says: “I hope that other artists, queer people, and non-conforming/unconventional folks will be able to hear this song as an anthem for being able to let their freak flag fly and be proud of marching to the beat of their own drum.”

“I have always been torn between being an artist and having a family, and a part of this song is about working through some of these complicated feelings. ’The Starting Line’ is also about feeling like an outsider, and ‘falling behind’–it is a journey toward cultivating a new relationship and new perspective with that part of myself.”

ABBY will celebrate the release of SECOND CHANCES on Saturday, August 19 with a sold-out headlining show in Santa Monica, CA at McCabe’s. She will then be seen performing as an official showcase artist at AMERICANAFEST 2023 in Nashville, TN on September 21 at 7:00 PM at The Vinyl Lab along with a performance the following night, September 22, at The California Country Show AMERICANAFEST Special Event at ACME Feed & Seed which takes place from noon – 7:00 PM.

SECOND CHANCES was produced, mixed and wrote by ABBY who also performed guitar, bass, drum, keys, banjo, mandolin, percussion and vocals for all 12 tracks at Sonic Boom Room Studios in Venice, CA with engineer Kevin Jarvis. Inspired by a life-changing breakup and the introspective soul-searching that followed, SECOND CHANCES embraces her genre-fluid blend of Americana, folk, indie pop and punk rock. The album’s debut track, “Simple Life,”was premiered via Glide Magazine who noted, “Channeling the majestic folk of 70s’ singer-songwriters with a modern Americana edge…Abby Posner certainly has a way with words, images, and echoing a sepia-toned light with her tunes that evoke the forthright sounds of Aimee Mann, Lydia Loveless and Lucinda Williams.” Her second single, “Quiet On Sunset,” was featured as one of CMT’s weekly music videos and was premiered via Guitar Girl Magazine.

Grammy-nominated acoustic guitarist extraordinaire, composer and global touring artist TOMMY EMMANUEL has shared the video for “Far Away Places” featuring Raul Malo who today (August 7) is celebrating his birthday. Watch the video HERE.

The acoustically performed song is a tender and aching expression of longing. It appears on EMMANUEL’s current album ACCOMPLICE TWO (the follow-up to 2018’s Accomplice One album) that was released this past April via CGP Sounds. “Far Away Places” is an American standard, written by Joan Whitney and Alex Kramer, first popularized by Bing Crosby and then Vera Lynn. Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard (for Neighborhoods Apart) directed and edited the video, which captures EMMANUEL and Malo recording the song live together at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, TN. The video was premiered earlier today by Glide.

“When you work with Tommy, anything is possible,” says Malo, who turns in a masterfully subtle and emotionally stirring performance. “His command of arrangements and melodies allows you to dig deep into a treasure chest of songs that only a few on the planet dare play. He is that kind of musician.”

“I chose to put this song as the final one on this album because it leaves us with a feeling of comfort and lets us marvel over such a great vocal performance,” says TOMMY. “It was my honor to record with Raul—he’s in a league of his own!”

Q&A with TOMMY About “Far Away Places”:

What inspired your collaboration with Raul Malo on “Far Away Places”?

“When I asked Raul to sing a song with me for this album, he sent me three choices of Sam Cooke recordings. We knew it had to be a song that would suit just voice and guitar, not a big production. I chose “Faraway Places” for its beautiful melody, simple structure and Raul’s fabulous style of singing it! As you can see by the video, it was a stunning and perfect vocal performance by Raul—I am so proud to be his accompanist!”

“Far Away Places” is an American standard, written by Joan Whitney and Alex Kramer, and first popularized in 1948 by Bing Crosby (peaking at #2 on the Billboard chart). What led you to interpret the song?

“I didn’t hear the original Bing Crosby version; I heard Sam Cooke singing it and knew Raul would smash it out of the park! With a tight schedule to keep, I had to choose a song that I could arrange quickly and get a recording / performance in one or two takes. Raul and I did two takes and the second one is the one we thought was the best.”

On this track, you play with nylon string and steel string guitars. Can you talk about the dynamic of playing these two different guitars and what it brings to the song?

“I played my Kirk San Nylon-string guitar for the main accompaniment, then overdubbed the solo on my Maton Steel String. I kept it simple and tried to stay on the melody in my solo, an obvious choice to me.”

ABOUT TOMMY EMMANUEL:

TOMMY EMMANUEL has achieved enough musical milestones to satisfy several lifetimes. At the age of six, he was touring regional Australia with his family band. BRIAN SETZER today (August 4) has released “Black Leather Jacket,” another new track from his forthcoming THE DEVIL ALWAYS COLLECTS album out September 15 via Surfdog Records digitally, on CD and vinyl. The single follows “Girl On The Billboard,” which Guitar World (7/28/23) praised as “pure roadside bar sleaze in the best way—with strutting Chuck Berry-by-way-of-the-gutter riffs, and even a Route 66 namecheck. You’ll want to put the pedal to the metal with this coming through your speakers.”

The iconic 3-time Grammy award-winner discusses his self-written “Black Leather Jacket,” saying, “‘Black Leather Jacket’ is the story of my black leather jacket I bought when I was 18. It followed the guy through his whole life. He wore a black leather jacket when he met his girl and then got into a crash. Til the very end he had a black leather jacket. I like the idea of it. Black leather jackets are very personal things. They’re something you keep. You don’t get rid of those. So one of the first ones I bought was probably down at St. Mark’s Place [in NYC]…But I still have one from England from the 80’s. Surprisingly it’s a little small,” he adds jokingly. “It must have shrunk. But I still take it out for a ride.”

Marking his first live shows in over four years, the “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour will kick off September 27 at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ and includes stops in Nashville, TN (at the historic Ryman Auditorium), Foxwoods Casino, Cincinnati, Chicago (Waukegan) and others before wrapping in Minneapolis (his adopted hometown). For these dates, SETZER will be joined by, in his words, an “international rockabilly band, Chris D’Rozario from Melbourne, Australia and Juan Laurios from Mexico City, Mexico.” Although BRIAN has a 40-year career as a solo artist, leader of The Brian Setzer Orchestra and as a Stray Cat, he continues to play with a jaw-dropping level of vigor. Iconic guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and 3-time Grammy award-winner BRIAN SETZER has achieved one career milestone after another. 21st-century rock vanguards FROM ASHES TO NEW’s explosive blend of hard rock, hip-hop, electronic and alternative music has driven their brand-new album BLACKOUT to the #1 spot on several iTunes and Spotify Rock and Metal charts across the globe. The 12-track album, released via Better Noise Music last Friday, June 28, was produced by vocalist Matt Brandyberry, alongside longtime collaborators and producers Grant McFarland and Carson Slovak. Conceptually it acts as a prequel to their 2016 debut DAY ONE and mirrors the angst and unrest the world felt during the 2020 pandemic at which time it was written.

Featuring their fifth-ever Top 10-charting rock radio single “Hate Me Too,” which peaked at #8 on Mediabase charts, and their latest anthemic single “Nightmare,” now climbing the charts at Active Rock radio, BLACKOUT has made waves with seven #1 iTunes Metal albums chartings and four #1 iTunes Rock albums placements including four dual #1’s globally.
