Multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist ALDO NOVA today (April 19) releases the triple disc ALDO NOVA 2.0 RELOADED. It features 2.0 versions of nine classic songs from ALDO’s catalog, plus another disc with no lead vocal track and a third disc with no lead guitar track so fans can either sing along or play along with him (see the track listings below). This follows the April 1 release of the first chapter of the Montreal maverick’s larger-than-life rock opera, the 10-song EP titled THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE. “Nobody’s ever done this,” ALDO says of ALDO NOVA 2.0 RELOADED. “You can basically sing with me as your backing band or play along as a backing track. No other artist has given his tracks to fans in this way. I want to encourage kids to improvise and learn. You can play the record if you want, or you can be a part of it. It’s a new concept.”

On ALDO NOVA 2.0 RELOADED, rocks with a capital R and smokes his way through one turbo-charged hit after another. The physical CD, available for purchase on April 22, has a striking full-color 6-panel cover with an 8-page booklet with the lyrics to all the songs.

Talking about the third disc which has all the songs with no lead guitar on them, ALDO says: “Young guitar players can jam along with me as their backing band. This disc lets guitar players either play the solos like mine, but the reason I created this version is to let fledgling guitar players develop their own style.”

This 10-track preview EP with songs taken from his 25-song, two hours plus-long rock opera THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE proves equally relevant in terms of rock’s past, present, and future. ALDO tells a story like never before about Eddie Gage, a young musical prodigy that becomes the ultimate Rockstar but then gets drawn into the sordid reality of the darker side of the music industry where he then falls, and with faith and hope, is reborn. This is not your average story though, since it is also based in theology, and mysticism, where names must be decoded, and lyrics read to discover the true characters hidden in the story. Eddie Gage essentially doubles as the musician’s own avatar through all those years recording music under major label shackles to this point in his career where he releases this EP of all new material on the 40^th anniversary of the release of his multi-platinum top ten eponymous first album. all the songs were written, performed, produced, engineered and mixed by ALDO.

Multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist ALDO NOVA has today (March 22) released a new performance video for “The King Of Deceit.” It’s the latest single from his forthcoming larger-than-life rock opera THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE, which is out next week (April 1) Watch the video here and listen to the single here.

The songs on the 10-song EP mark the first chapter of the opera. For the recording of the “The King Of Deceit,” ALDO enlisted a 40-piece orchestra to flesh out the track. In the video, the multi-platinum Grammy® award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist is cast as “The King Of Deceit.”

Says ALDO: “‘The King Of Deceit’ is a pivotal character in the story of Eddie Gage. He is the antagonist, or the villain, and although there are many villains in Eddie’s life–they’re all under the thumb of M. F. Stophalis, ‘The King Of Deceit.’”

“As Eddie is good and is light, ‘The King Of Deceit’ represents darkness and evil,” ALDO elaborates. “Even though the physical side of Eddie’s life is slightly based on mine, the rock opera really has its roots in religion and theology, and all the names of the characters must be decoded so that it all makes sense. Everything–the whole story–the characters and their actions are in the lyrics, and the lyrics are set to music that represent them. Eddie’s not just a rockstar but a messenger, who, through his music, convey a message of faith and hope, and make them believe in themselves, and ‘The King Of Deceit’ will do anything to stop this. I chose to do a theatrical video, in makeup and costume, because I wanted to bring the character to life. to paint a picture of what evil looks like, at least in Eddie’s eyes.”

As ALDO explained in a feature with Misplaced Straws: “I wanted to make an album like when I was a kid when you used to have the LP and you open it up and I knew every credit and everybody…No one writes liner notes, so I figured since my whole album is like, I took all my influences from the past and then I brought them into the future, but I wanted to keep past so I made liner notes, they’re so detailed. Even every little piece of gear that we used on the album.”

Of “Burn Like The Sun,” ALDO, who’s spent more than four decades in music with dozens of classic songs and hundreds of shows, says: “The song describes Eddie’s life’s ups and downs and rebirth. In the opera, ‘Burn Like the Sun’ is the last song that Eddie sings and it sums up his life perfectly with everything coming full circle because it was the only song he had ever written that wasn’t owned by any publishing company or record company, so it’s fitting that the beginning becomes the same song that makes him reborn. ‘Burn Like the Sun’ describes Eddie’s long journey.”

Elaborates ALDO: “In the second verse he says, ‘Life, is given to you, with each step that you take there’s a chance you could win or lose, and love, yeah love’s been untrue, almost took the last beat of my heart but then there was you.’ When he says ‘you,’ he could be talking about a woman, or in his case, it has a more spiritual meaning since in the previous song, ‘Say a Little Prayer,’ he rediscovers his faith which gives him the strength to go on. He then literally ‘Burns Like the Sun’ when he performs this song as his last song in his concert.”

THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE rock opera tells the story of Eddie Gage, a prodigious ingénue who breaks into the music industry only to be preyed upon by a nefarious suit Andy Christos, manipulated by a corporate overlord M.F. Stophalis, and tempted by a succubus Rati Ayida. Drugs, alcohol, and excess plunge him into despair until he realizes redemption on his own terms.

The musical journey of THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE began in 2008, when ALDO started to assemble what would become 25 songs (which ALDO will eventually release). Throughout the work, ALDO distills his often-unbelievable musical journey into the allegory of the rock opera, which he wrote, produced, arranged, engineered, and mixed entirely. The recording includes a 40-piece orchestra, a full gospel choir, Lee Levin on drums and mastering from the legendary Bob Ludwig. Up first this year for ALDO–who has spent more than four decades in music with dozens of classic songs and hundreds of shows–is the release of the first 10 tracks (nine songs, one bonus cut) from THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE rock opera. It tells the story of Eddie Gage, a prodigious ingénue who breaks into the music industry only to be preyed upon by a nefarious suit Andy Christos, manipulated by a corporate overlord M.F. ALDO explains, “The date is July the 1^st of 1982, when only three months after the release of his 1^st album, simply titled Eddie Gage, Eddie has achieved superstar status. This is him playing in front of 10,000 fans and singing about the fact that it’s time for people to expand their minds towards a more spiritual side of reality because society has become corrupt, a direction that his record company, Daedalus Records did not want him to take. The lyrics say it all, and Eddie and his band show a level of musicianship far above the norm.

The musical journey of THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE began in 2008, when ALDO started to assemble what would become 25 songs (which ALDO will eventually release). “I feel really comfortable in my own skin, and my music is who I am,” ALDO says. “The record was done from pure inspiration he says, I felt like was connected somewhere. I was truly channeling some place away from myself. It was almost as if something above connected to me and gave me these songs.”

Following the release of THE LIFE AND TIMES OF EDDIE GAGE, ALDO will turn the page on the next chapter of this story with the three-disc ALDO NOVA 2.0 RELOADED. Ultimately, ALDO is no stranger to new concepts, and he continues to break ground.

“When you hear any of this, I want you to feel like I took it to another level,” he leaves off. “I didn’t just come back and do the same thing. I didn’t stay stagnant. I’m sixty-five-years-old, but I feel like I’m thirty-years-old. I’m bringing everything to a whole new universe. I’m comfortable. I’m happy in my independence. I am who I am. I’m Aldo Nova, because my real name is too hard to say,” he laughs.

About ALDO NOVA:

Born Aldo Caporuscio, he opened this channel forty years ago with his 1982 double-platinum top ten self-titled debut, Aldo Nova, and its definitive Hot 100 smash single “Fantasy.” On the heels of the platinum-selling Subject…Aldo Nova and Twitch, he emerged as a trusted collaborator for some of the biggest stars in the world. Not to mention, his discography also includes writing songs for everyone from Faith Hill, Carole King, and Clay Aiken to Garou and Blue Öyster Cult.
