DATE: JULY 12, 2022

Leading Midwest promoter MAMMOTH, INC. has announced another new partnership, this time with industry veteran and former Live Nation exec Tommy Ginoza and his newly formed Los Angeles-based company Sugar Monkey. Additional details on the new venture will be announced in the coming months.

Ginoza got his start at Goldenvoice in 1996 and his experience includes stints at Live Nation, Universal Concerts and House of Blues Concerts. Throughout his career he’s worked with artists of all genres at venues from local clubs to arenas, as well as on North American tours.

“I have known and worked with Jeff and Josh for nearly 20+ years and we have become good friends during that time,” Tommy Ginoza says. “In my career, I’ve been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with several great people who have become great friends. I have always admired the work ethic, integrity and entrepreneurial drive of Jeff, Josh and Streigs (Sean Striegel) and I’m thrilled that I get to continue that by joining forces with them and the entire Mammoth team.”

“Tommy is a reputable talent and booking executive and an expert in the event operations field,” MAMMOTH’s Jeff Fortier says. “When he shared that he was creating his own company, Sugar Monkey, we knew this would be a great opportunity to closely work with Tommy. We’re excited to be partnering with him.”

This continues MAMMOTH’s expansion and follows the announcements of a merger with Portland, Oregon’s Mike Thrasher Presents and the opening of Mammoth Northeast headed by Sean Striegel.

Launched in 2006, MAMMOTH produces a wide array of live events including concerts and festivals, as well as national tours. MAMMOTH’s events range in size from small club shows to amphitheaters and arena shows (including more than 50 historic indoor theaters). The company is headed by Jeff Fortier and Josh Hunt, who together have over 55 years of combined music industry experience. With home offices in Lawrence, KS and Kansas City, MO, MAMMOTH produces more than 1,000 concerts and live events across the country per year.

Leading Midwest promoter Mammoth, Inc. is expanding their footprint by opening a New York City branch and launching Mammoth Northeast. The New York office (in the city’s historic South Street Seaport area) will be headed by industry veteran Sean Striegel.

“The Mammoth team has worked hard at creating a forward-thinking, artist friendly business that serves the customer,” Sean Striegel says. “Adding my decades of experience in the live music industry to what Mammoth has built is a natural fit. Mike Thrasher Presents And Mammoth Join Forces To Create A Midwest/West Coast Alliance

Having already established themselves in their respective markets of the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest, Mike Thrasher Presents and Mammoth, Inc. will join forces uniting the Portland, OR and Lawrence, KS based companies. The companies will be aligned under one umbrella with a combined 41 years of experience. This news comes on the heels of the March 2020 devastating loss of industry veteran Mike Thrasher.

Originally founded in 1994, Mike Thrasher Presents was founded by local musician Thrasher, who is considered to be one of the principal promoters in the Portland, OR area. Thrasher oversaw the company’s growth which includes a 2009 partnership in the Hawthorne Theater; the company now books 450+ shows a year across the Pacific Northwest. Thrasher worked with a top-level team including Gordon Cross (who first served as the company’s CFO in 2012 and was named CEO in 2013, managing all aspects of operations and personnel) and Sean Major (who was recruited from the William Morris Agency in Los Angeles in 2014 to serve as a talent buyer).

Mammoth launched in 2006 and produces a wide range of events including concerts and full-scale festivals, along with tour booking. Venues include amphitheaters, arenas, small independent clubs, numerous boutique theaters, and 50+ historic indoor theaters as well as an independently owned venue portfolio. The company is co-owned by Jeff Fortier and Josh Hunt who together have over 55 years of combined music industry experience. Based out of Lawrence, KS and Kansas City, MO Mammoth produces 700+ concerts and live events across the country per year.

“Learning from one of the best independent promoters in the country provided me with invaluable insights into the music business,” said Sean Major. “Mike’s innate sense of assessing talent along with his business acumen provided a strong foundation for what has become a very successful company. It is my privilege to assume the Head Talent Buyer role for the Mammoth/Thrasher alliance as we move forward into the future.”

Together in partnership with Mammoth, Cross and Major will continue to lead the development of the businesses. “We were all devastated by Mike’s death,” says Gordon Cross. “Mammoth has given us an exciting and fresh perspective of what the future may look like, and we look forward to working with Jeff and Josh to bring great music to the Pacific Northwest.”

“Mammoth is thrilled to partner with the Mike Thrasher organization, bringing great music to the Pacific Northwest”, said Jeff Fortier. “My partner, Josh Hunt and I had known Mike for 25 years and we were both devastated to hear of his sudden death last March at age 48. Knowing that we can continue Mike’s legacy under the Mammoth name is an honor that we take very seriously, and we are committed to keeping his memory alive.”

Looking to fill the gap of a medium-sized venue in Omaha’s metro’s music scene, City+Ventures along with live music and entertainment businesses One Percent Productions and Mammoth, Inc have joined forces on a new music venue: The Astro Theater. The official groundbreaking for the venue is set for Wednesday, September 29 at 11:00 AM with La Vista Mayor Douglas Kindig, city council members, city staff, project partners, and developers all on hand.

The Astro Theater is designed as the focal point of the mixed-use La Vista City Centre development. The 2,500-person, 52,000-square foot indoor theater connects to an outdoor grass amphitheater, hosting 5,000 attendees and overlooking a 34-acre public park. The indoor venue and adjacent amphitheater are located in La Vista City Centre (8302 City Centre Drive, La Vista, Nebraska) and construction is set to begin the week of groundbreaking with plans for The Astro Theater to debut in January 2023.

“The Omaha market has always needed an all-purpose multi-format theater and a proper boutique amphitheater,” said Josh Hunt, Mammoth, Inc. “At times, Omaha has been skipped over by tours because venues are too small, too big, or don’t have the necessary production capabilities. We believe The Astro Theater will not only alleviate those concerns but go above and beyond, creating a top-tier experience for artists and fans alike.”

“We’ve created a venue that provides the flexibility we know artists want in a new lifestyle development that brings the ultimate customer experience for their fans,” said Jim Johnson, One Percent Productions.

“Our goal is to create a mixed-use community space that brings a dynamic, large-scale urban destination to La Vista and Sarpy County,” said Chris Erickson and Danny White of City+Ventures. “The addition of The Astro Theater means you can enjoy dinner, a concert and post-show entertainment in one location.”

Once the venue opens, One Percent Productions and Mammoth, Inc. will manage bookings for the facility.  The two companies enjoy a long history together having booked shows for CHI Center, Baxter Arena, Ralston Arena, Sokol Auditorium, Sumtur Amphitheater, The Waiting Room, Reverb Lounge, and more.

One Percent Productions

One Percent Productions, formed in 1997 by Marc Leibowitz and Jim Johnson, opened The Waiting Room Lounge in 2007 and Reverb Lounge in 2014 producing hundreds of shows including those for other venues in Nebraska and Iowa. The company believes in investing in the community and has been a part of Omaha’s accelerating cultural growth.

Mammoth, Inc.

Mammoth, Inc. was started in 2006 by Jeff Fortier and Josh Hunt, who together have over 55 years of combined music industry experience producing a wide range of events including concerts, full scale festivals, and tour booking. Their venues include arenas, large amphitheaters, independent clubs, numerous large amphitheaters, over 50 historic indoor theaters throughout the country, as well as an independently owned venue portfolio
