ABOUT “A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS”

The Las Vegas Jazz Syndicate is a collective of musicians based in Las Vegas, Nevada. This group of performers, composers, and band leaders was formed by graduate students in the doctoral program of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Department of Jazz and Commercial Music. Founding members Tristan Selzler, Edoardo Lacala and Andres Montero perform regularly in and around the Las Vegas Strip and Arts District, and are dedicated to both the local music scene, as well as the production of award-winning material performed and recorded at the UNLV School of Music. The LVJS is excited to bring to life the music of Vince Gauraldi’s “Charlie Brown Christmas,” a holiday favorite for every generation, as we celebrate classics like “Christmas Time is Here,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, “O Tannenbaum,” “Skating,” and of course, the iconic ‘Snoopy’ song, “Linus and Lucy.” The group looks forward to bringing these classics to life alongside a specially selected children’s choir from The Meadows School.

ABOUT MIKE JONES

Renowned jazz pianist Mike Jones has performed for over four million people worldwide as music director and opening act for Penn & Teller, blending virtuosic swing with the duo’s signature wit and showmanship. His piano work has been featured on Penn & Teller’s BS, Penn & Teller Tell A Lie, and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, earning him fans well beyond the jazz world.

A Berklee College of Music graduate, Mike, began as a studio musician and TV music director in Boston before becoming a fixture in top jazz clubs in New York, Boston, and Chicago’s famed Green Mill. His acclaimed recordings on Chiaroscuro and Capri Records include The Show Before The Show, featuring Penn Jillette on bass.

For this special one-night engagement, Mike will record a live album celebrating the classic jazz trios of the 1940s and ’50s — honoring legends like Nat King Cole, Art Tatum, and Oscar Peterson with performances that capture the timeless spirit of live jazz.

With a career performing with legends like Mel Tormé, Dizzy Gillespie, and The Charlie Byrd Trio, and appearances at top venues from Carnegie Hall to Birdland, Chuck brings world-class artistry and warmth to every note.

This special holiday program blends jazz tradition with Christmas classics—an experience that feels like coming home for the holidays, only with a world-class jazz soundtrack.
