Las Vegas-based PAPER COWBOY—an original music band exploring the space where Country, Americana, Southern Rock, and Rock n’ Roll collide—have just rolled out their latest single “Save Me” (Paper Cowboy Version)” in advance of their self-titled debut album out November 1 on all digital platforms via Lovedozer Records. Listen to the urgent country rocking song, the band’s fifth single, HERE.
The band—a parallel project to the Patrick Vitagliano-led rock group THE BONES—have also announced three shows in Las Vegas: October 7 (Piazza Lounge inside Tuscany Suites & Casino, 7–10pm), November 21 (Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, 5–9 pm), and November 25 (Piazza Lounge inside Tuscany Suites & Casino, 7–10pm), the latter of which will mark the official album release party. The band’s lineup consists of Patrick Vitagliano (lead vocals, guitar); Mike Campion (bass), O.B. Womack (lead guitar), Sean Koos (piano), and Daniel Margasa (drums). Follow the band via YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
“Save Me”— recorded at The Tone Factory in Vegas and written by Vitagliano who co-produced it with Vinnie Castaldo—is a deeply felt song whose protagonist is caught between the demands of the touring life and the love he’s put on hold: “I was searchin’ for a silver lining/But the neon lights keep blinding/Losin’ my grip, I hold tight on the slippery reins/Every moment is real, and I can feel it slippin’ down the drain.”
“It’s about a performer who has spent a lifetime on the road, and he’s at the stage in his life where he starts to question the sanity of staying on the treadmill,” explains Vitagliano, whose expressive and gritty vocal delivery highlights the track. “You read about your favorite performers ‘retiring’ from touring, and our outsider’s reaction to that is almost always disappointment, as if they are something that we either own, or are there solely for our entertainment.”
He adds: “But these are human beings, who deserve to make human choices for the good of their own well-being, just like anyone at any other profession—like a cop, firefighter, accountant, ditch digger, etc.—that has given their like to their profession and just wants to exhale for the first time in their life. At the end of the day/week/month/year/career, all he can think about is the love that he continues to put on hold for this grind, and he has a moment of clarity.”
