In 2012, The Nash, a premier jazz education and performance venue, was founded in his honor in Phoenix, solidifying his impact on the jazz community.

A former member of Batiste’s Stay Human band, Kuehn has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and performed at the White House in 2022. His arrangements were featured on Christmas with Jon Batiste, a Billboard-charting album. Raised in a musical family, Kuehn began playing jazz professionally at 12 in Pittsburgh. “THE SHIRTS AGAINST THE BLOUSES”® MINI GOLF TOURNAMENT,
AT KISS WORLD MINI GOLF IN LAS VEGAS

The Musical Beginning Foundation (501c3)—a newly created organization for which Grammy Award-winning musician Micki Free and fashion designer Heather Roberts serve as the Founders/Directors—aims to provide musical instruments to children in underserved communities, helping them develop skills that foster creativity, social connection, and emotional well-being.

The foundation successfully wrapped its inaugural celebrity fundraising event “The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament, at KISS World Mini Golf inside the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas (February 25). It was attended by an array of rock and roll artists, including guitarist Bruce Kulick (KISS) and drummer Eric Singer (KISS), as well as the foundation’s sponsors. At the red-carpet event, The Musical Beginning Foundation Humanitarian Award was given to both KISS founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, accepted on their behalf by Kulick. See the list of attending celebrities and tastemakers as well as the sponsors below.

The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament pays homage to the iconic basketball game between Prince, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, and Micki Free, which was immortalized in a famous Chappelle’s Show sketch. For a glimpse into the original game, read this story from Esquire. At KISS World Mini Golf, two teams, The Shirts and The Blouses, competed against each other and the winning team was The Blouses: Count’s 77 band, Stoney Curtis, Jeff Tortora, John Zito, Barry Barnes, and Tommy Paris.

“Heather and I were truly honored and humbled as our celebrity guests, friends and family showed up and showed out at the fundraiser!” says Free. “Heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors…this is just the beginning at The Musical Beginning Foundation, we strive to make a difference musically in kids lives!! Remember always…Music is the Medicine.”

The event was catered by Lindy Lu’s Kitchen. One highlight of the culinary feast was the blueberry mini pancakes which were based on the pancakes Prince originally made after the original pick-up basketball game with Prince, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy, and Micki Free.

In many schools, art and music programs are often the first to be cut due to budget constraints. Roberts and Free believe music is not only a creative outlet, but also essential for childhood development and mental health. Participants in the event will be helping bring the power of music into the lives of children who need it most, inspiring young talent, and giving them the tools they need to thrive. “Our foundation believes that, whether using music as a therapeutic outlet or professionally, ‘Music is the Medicine,’ say Roberts and Free.

“I feel I’ve been blessed in my musical career,” says Micki Free, “and it’s time to give back. Most indigenous, urban and impoverished families, like mine when I was growing, didn’t have the means to buy instruments for their children. I was lucky my Uncle Frank came to my aid and bought me my first guitar. The Musical Beginning Foundation will be our Uncle Frank to many kids—that is our goal.”

“As a child I played clarinet in school, which was a meaningful experience for me,” says Roberts.  “Art has been incredibly important to me throughout my whole life.  As a graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC, and someone who has enjoyed a career in the world of celebrity costume design, I was lucky to have been immersed into fields that allowed me to express my creativity.  Children today don’t have as much access or opportunities when it comes to the arts, and I am hopeful that I can be a part of creating positive change in their lives through The Musical Beginning Foundation.”

ABOUT CJ SOLAR

With the fuel of Country, Southern rock and Delta blues pumping through his veins, CJ Solar is a natural at fusing all his influences with pure musical talent and vocal chops into a badass new sound. Already turning heads in Nashville, Baton Rouge and beyond, having been named one of the “New Artists You Need To Know” by Rolling Stone Country, and racking up over four million streams on Spotify, Solar says the driving force behind his untimely success isn’t fame nor fortune – it’s just a diehard infatuation with the music he grew up on.

Solar has released two popular EPs and just dropped his “Coming My Way” single and music video from his upcoming third EP of the same name on Sea Gayle Records.

His five-song Get Away With It EP was released in 2018, and he co-wrote all of the songs with the likes of Bob DiPiero, Rick Huckaby, Michael Hardy and others. Both singles from the EP, “Airplane” and “American Girls,” hit #15 and were two of the highest charting singles from an independent artist. Rolling Stone Country listed “Airplane” as one of their “10 Best Country and Americana Songs of the Week.” The chart success of both singles led to CJ being named “Independent Artist of the Year” at the 2019 Annual Music Row Country Breakout Awards ceremony in and being nominated for “Breakthrough Artist-Writer” at the 2019 Music Row Awards.

Solar’s critically acclaimed debut EP, Hard One to Turn Down, hit in 2016, and The Daily Country wrote, “Solar injects a hefty (and welcome) dose of Southern rock into his country, which melds perfectly with his gravelly vocals.” The Shotgun Seat welcomed the EP as “the perfect pairing of country storytelling and rocking rhythms, married by his dynamic vocals.” His “Tallboy” single garnered over two million streams on Spotify, and the music video hit #1 on the fan-voted CMT 12 Pack Countdown after spending 13 weeks in the countdown. The follow-up single, “Just Another Day in the Country,” was one of the fastest rising and highest charting debut singles for an independent artist.

In a business of dreams, one of CJ’s biggest ones came true on September 7, 2019, when he was invited to make his debut appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. The appearance held special significance to CJ. At the age of 12, CJ, his parents and two brothers attended an Opry show while on a family trip to Nashville. Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton performed that night, and CJ made the quality decision to follow in their footsteps.

CJ celebrated his first #1 country single as a songwriter with Morgan Wallen’s “Up Down” smash hit featuring Florida Georgia Line last year. The song garnered CJ an ASCAP Award and the Nashville Songwriters Award for “10 Songs I Wish I’d Written.” He co-wrote Jason Aldean’s “I Don’t Drink Anymore,” Jerrod Niemann’s Top 30 single “Blue Bandana” and “The Regulars” and Justin Moore’s “Between You & Me.” He also had writing credits on Mike Ryan’s “Damn Good Goodbye” and Kyle Park’s single, “What the Heaven,” which hit #1 on the Texas regional radio chart.

A road warrior at heart, CJ is growing his fan base opening for such artists as Chris Janson, Gary Allan, The Cadillac Three, Old Dominion and even his heroes like Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special and Hank Williams, Jr., as well as headlining his own dates across the country.

ABOUT COUNTRY REWIND

Get ready to rewind the clock at Stoney’s Rockin’ Country for Country Rewind – a throwback night filled with your favorite 90s and early 2000s country hits with DJ Manda. No cover for Military, Teachers, Nurses, and First Responders in gratitude for their service. Free dance lessons are at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., and free Mechanical Bull rides all night long. 21+ only.

ABOUT CASEY CHESNUTT

Casey has been playing music for more than 10 years. In high school, he played gigs at night and ran to class the following morning. He saw local success but put it on hold after enlisting in the Marines where he served five years as an Infantry Rifleman and went on his final deployment with Alpha Company, First Battalion, Second Marines. From there, he hit the same bars doing the same thing. Eventually, his daughter Annie was born. He then felt the need to release his own music but was shy with writing. He released the “Down Mexico Way” album with his first hit single, “Even Texas Couldn’t Hold Her,” which hit number 9 on the Texas Charts. Afterwards, he became more confident and started writing music more in line with his true self. Eventually, he found his way up on the legendary Billy Bob’s stage with his dad (Mark Chesnutt) in the beginning of 2023. He then secured a residency at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa the following month. After all that, he put together a personal album that he loves called “Tryin’ Out.”

ABOUT THE ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARTY

Get your green on and party like the Irish with a country twist for a night full of fun surprises featuring DJ Manda with beer and shotski specials!

ABOUT BRODIE STEWART

Brodie Stewart grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento and spent his summers in Red Bluff, California. At a young age, his favorite things to do were going to the rodeo, listening to country music, singing, and playing guitar. Soon enough, Brodie formed, fronted a southern rock band, and had the good fortune of touring the country, opening for big artists in front of sold-out arenas. His band even charted on Billboard.

With his southern rock roots, Brodie returned to what he loved the most, “country music”. While writing songs for his own album, Brodie also wrote and produced songs for various other artists, such as “Sweet Isabel”, recorded by Enrique Iglesias for his (Interscope Records) release entitled “Insomniac”. Shortly after placing Sweet Isabel with Enrique, Martin Kierszenbaum (President of Cherrytree/Interscope Records) signed Brodie to a song/production deal with the label. Quickly following, Brodie signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Publishing. Since that time, Brodie has written and produced several tracks for various artists.

Currently, 100% of Brodie’s attention is on his country music endeavors. On his debut album “Born American”, Brodie teamed up with guitarist/producer/songwriter “Adam Shoenfeld” (Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Jake Owen, Big and Rich, Florida Georgia Line and many more) to co-produce and play on the album along with several top players, including working with one great engineer, Aaron Chmielewski in Nashville. In addition to gearing up promotion for his “Debut Album”, Brodie’s “high octane show” has been touring the West Coast.

ABOUT LEWIS BRICE

With a sound rooted at the intersection of country, southern rock, and R&B, Lewis Brice comes at you with high-energy stories; sounds that catch your ear and make you want to move. Born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, he grew up singing in church choir and praise bands. Lewis eventually moved to Charleston, where he began performing his first live shows and presenting his own music to a new crowd.

Emo rock revivalists THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT—Lee Jennings (Vocals), Cody Weissinger (Guitar), Caleb Freihaut (Guitar/Auxiliary), Robert Weston (Bass), and Homer Umbanhowar (Drums)—will release a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed second album, GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY, on June 13 via Better Noise Music.

Ahead of the album’s release, they’ve today (February 28) unveiled an instant grat track with pre-orders of a new version of “Holy Water.” It now features guest vocals by Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch, with whom THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT toured in 2024.  Moody’s powerful and distinctively rugged vocals bring an exciting new element to the track. Listen to the song HERE, which has been making a huge impact at radio in its first week and debuting on Billboard’s “Mainstream Rock Tracks” chart at #21, while a video for the song will be released Friday, March 28.

Pre-orders for the digital, CD and vinyl copies of the deluxe edition of GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY are available today here. The digital deluxe collection will include 24 songs, including “Holy Water” feat. Ivan Moody, songs from the CASSANOVA EP and the FROM BEYOND THE ABYSS EP, as well as the recently released version of “Hearse for Two” feat. Lilith Czar and three brand new songs, “Skinny Lies,” “Evergreen,” and “Lost Boy.” The vinyl and CD two-disc deluxe packages feature 21 tracks, one of which is exclusive to the physical formats (“Friends Like These”).

‘Holy Water’ has always been one of the most personal and cathartic songs I’ve ever written,” explains THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT’s Lee Jennings. “It’s about confronting your darkest moments and finding the strength to cleanse yourself of the weight they carry. Seeing the connection its made with fans, especially during our live shows, has been beyond powerful—watching the crowd scream the lyrics back at us is proof that music really can heal. Having Ivan Moody join us on this track took it to another level. His energy, passion, and personal story made him the perfect voice to help tell this chapter, and we couldn’t be more honored to have him be part of it.”

“Before our tour together, I wasn’t too familiar with The Funeral Portrait’s music, so I didn’t know what to expect,” says Ivan Moody. “But after watching them night after night, seeing how they commanded the stage and connected with the crowd, I was absolutely hooked. The passion, intensity, and raw emotion they bring to their performances make them one of the most exciting new bands out there. And Lee’s voice? Absolutely incredible—one of my favorite new singers! We had talked about collaborating before the tour, but the timing never worked out. Then, while speeding down the highway, I heard ‘Holy Water’ on the radio and couldn’t help but sing along. What an amazing track! It immediately brought back the idea of working together, so I hit up Lee about the possibility of me redoing the song with them. Luckily, he was all in—and here we are….The rest is history.”

“Holy Water” was described by MetalPlanetMusic.com in a September 8, 2024 review as “a full-on arena anthem sound that hits straight between the ears. The beat is hard and uncompromising, with the dual guitar riffs forcing the emotion down your throat. The choral harmony during the bridge gives the track a ‘it’s our song, and we’re going to do what the fuck we want to’ vibe. It’s a real monster of a track.”

GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY, released September 13, 2024 via Better Noise Music, consists of 14 tracks of theatrical, dramatic, unapologetic, full-throated flair with guest appearances from Bert McCracken of The Used, Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and Amanda Lyberg of Eva Under Fire. Get a copy of GREETINGS FROM SUFFOCATE CITY on CD or digital download now at https://thefuneralportrait.ffm.to/gfsc.

Last November THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT landed the #1 spot on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay and Mediabase’s Active Rock radio charts with their hit single “Suffocate City (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills).” This marks the band’s first-ever #1 radio single and first entry onto any Billboard chart. The single has garnered over 6.5 million streams globally and over 600k views for its prom-themed music video.

Meanwhile, Pandora named THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT as one of their “Artists to Watch 2025: The Pandora Ten,” which spotlights a group of ten emerging artists across all genres that it believes will break through in the coming year.

In touring news, THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT has been bringing their message to the masses with an aggressive touring plan that continues throughout 2025. The band is on the road now throughout the U.S. and Canada with Catch Your Breath & Archers. Next up will be a nationwide tour with Ice Nine Kills, as well as an appearance as part of the Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach, CA on July 26 and 27.
