Squires’ latest has that close up production feel that will draw you into feeling like you are sitting right here listening live. The song [“Labyrinth”] itself is very fluid and flowy. Give it a listen and unwind.”
Americana Highways (8/6/20)

Many Moons lands well amongst the current state of things. Although the inspiration is more intimate, each of the ten-tracks covers relatable topics such as grief, loss, stress, mental illness, and change.”
American Songwriter (8/13/20)

On his 10th album overall, MANY MOONS, North Carolina-based alternative/folk artist JEREMY SQUIRES poignantly blends traditional folk roots with alternative-leaning sounds–an unexpected result which came about by the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist having written the album on his analog keyboard. Due this Friday, August 28 via Manda Mosher‘s California-based Blackbird Record Label, MANY MOONS takes listeners on an emotive journey across its ten tracks-which JEREMY self-recorded (including vocals, guitars, bass, drums, percussion, piano and synth)-as he shares the struggles he’s endured throughout his life from dealing with his own mental health issues and its effect on those close to him to losing his mother to opioid addiction. His friend and fellow musician Whit Wright (American Aquarium, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves) lends assistance on pedal steel guitar adding to the album’s unique sonic texture.

For MANY MOONS, JEREMY has received premiere coverage from outlets including American Songwriter (“Hazy“), The Bluegrass Situation (“Cast Spells“) and Americana Highways (“Labyrinth“). In the coming weeks, look for him to share a new music video for “Swan Dive” which is a deeply personal song that depicts his mother’s struggle with addiction and her untimely passing.

HARRY SHEARER Releases “Stormy Daniels,” Fourth Song in Donald Trump Series

DATE:      AUGUST 20, 2020

FROM:     MARCEE RONDAN

‘THE SIMPSONS’ AND ‘SPINAL TAP’ STAR
HARRY SHEARER

Releases Fourth Song in Donald Trump Series

“Paid her from my own account
Just for max clarity
Something I never did
For any school or charity
Despite what you may hear
There’s no similarity
I never need advice
She’s not a slut
I just helped her keep her pie hole shut
Stormy Daniels
Such a thrill doesn’t come in granules
She’s naughty
And oh so nice”

#DonaldTrumpSong

Today (August 20), star of “The Simpsons” and “Spinal Tap,” HARRY SHEARER releases the fourth track in his Donald Trump song series, which runs with a song a week throughout this summer and fall. “STORMY DANIELS” follows the old school R&B anthem to Jared Kushner, “SON IN LAW; the disco/plaintive folk number celebrating Trump’s consistent inconsistency in his approach to the pandemic, “COVID-180“; and “VERY STABLE GENIUS,” a low-power power ballad, in which the Leader of the Free World vaunts his self-proclaimed intellectual prowess combined with his calm and balanced disposition.

Written and performed by SHEARER in the style of a mid-sixties romantic ballad, “STORMY DANIELS” is a lush string-filled ode to passion, power and pay-off. Singing himself a soothing song of love and self-pity, the current occupant of The White House praises his former amour’s ample assets while bemoaning how his own assets were wasted in buying her silence.

HARRY SHEARER says of “Stormy Daniels”:
What good is hush money when it buys so little hush?”

“STORMY DANIELS” features SHEARER on vocals as Donald Trump. He is joined by CJ Vanston on piano, strings and bass and Greg Bisonette on drums. The trumpet and string arrangement is by CJ Vanston. The music and lyrics are by Harry Shearer. It is released by Twanky Records.

HARRY SHEARER has vocally portrayed every U.S. president of his lifetime. Donald Trump is the third he has portrayed physically, having previously played Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan on screen.

The first song in the Donald Trump series, “SON IN LAW,” was released on July 31 and is available here. “SON IN LAW” is an old-style New Orleans R&B number depicting Donald Trump in praise of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. The video of the track uses ground-breaking motion-capture animation to portray the U.S. President lionizing his senior advisor and husband of his daughter Ivanka. At one point it shows the spookily real Trump with his hand casually hovering over the nuclear button on his desk in The Oval Office, while extolling the virtues of his daughter’s curves.

SON IN LAW” features New Orleans musicians David Torkanowsky of The Astral Project and Stanton Moore Trio on piano and organ, The Meters star George Porter, Jr. on bass, Raymond Weber of Dumpstaphunk on drums, leading saxophonist Brad WalkerScott Frock of Delfeayo Marsalis’ Uptown Jazz Orchestra, on trumpet, and one of New Orleans’ top trombonists, Jon Ramm. The track is mixed by long-time HARRY SHEARER musical collaborator C J Vanston at The Treehouse North Hollywood and produced by David Torkanowsky. The video was conceived and produced by HARRY SHEARER with Matt Hermans of The Electric Lens Company in Sydney, Australia. The on-set producer was HARRY‘s long-time collaborator, cinematographer Matthew Mindlin.

“COVID-180,” the second song, which was released on August 7hasThe Simpsons” and “Spinal Tap” star as Trump, alternating stanzas of pumped-up disco and plaintive folk rock to represent the alternating “up” and “down” approaches taken to the pandemic by the President.

“COVID-180” features “The Simpsons” star on vocals in an eerily accurate impersonation of the President of The United States. He is joined by Sharlotte Gibson and CJ Vanston on backing vocals, Marc Bonilla on guitar, Toss Panos on drums with CJ Vanston on piano, synths and all other instruments. “Covid 180″ was mixed by CJ Vanston at The Treehouse, North Hollywood CA and mastered by Peter Doell at Aftermaster.

Very Stable Genius,” the third song which was released on August 14,is a low-power power ballad, in which the Leader of the Free World vaunts his self-proclaimed intellectual prowess combined with his calm and balanced disposition. With vocals by SHEARER as Trump, it has CJ Vanston on backing vocals, Marc Bonilla on guitar, Toss Panos on drums, with CJ Vanston on piano, synths and all other instruments.

HARRY SHEARER says of the series of Trump-themed songs, which will be released on a weekly basis over the next seven weeks:

My Donald Trump is almost as eager for continued
public attention as the ‘real’ Trump.”

About Harry Shearer:

Actor…author…director…comedian…musician…political satirist…multi-media artist…radio personality…record company owner…and one of the best “voices” in the business (just ask “THE SIMPSONS”), HARRY SHEARER is a comic personality and modern-day renaissance man.

For the past three decades he has enjoyed enormous success and planted the fruits of his talents in the heads of millions worldwide thanks to his voice work for “THE SIMPSONS,” where he plays a stable of characters: most notably Mr. Burns, Smithers, and insufferable neighbour Ned Flanders.

Movie audiences will know SHEARER best for his collaborations with Christopher Guest and friends. The most famous of these is the granddaddy of all mock-umentaries, “THIS IS SPINAL TAP” (with Rob Reiner and Michael McKean). The film revealed the concepts of spontaneously combusting drummers and amps that go up to eleven. Spinal Tap–the band have enjoyed worldwide success performing live and in 2007 stole the show at the LIVE EARTH concert at Wembley, London. In 2009 Harry, Christopher and Michael reunited to tour an acoustic version of Spinal Tap songs as themselves in the UNWIGGED AND UNPLUGGED tour (which is available of DVD) and returned as Derek Smalls, Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbins to play Glastonbury and Wembley Arena with the volume turned up to eleven. Other Guest collaborations have included, “A MIGHTY WIND” and “FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION.” In 2017 SHEARER appeared in the film “FATHER FIGURE,” with Glenn Close, Ed Helms and Owen Wilson.

Shearer’s other film credits include “REAL LIFE” (co-screenwriter), “THE RIGHT STUFF,” “PORTRAIT OF A WHITE MARRIAGE” (director), “THE FISHER KING,” “GODZILLA,” “THE TRUMAN SHOW,” “SMALL SOLDIERS” and “DICK.” He has been a regular cast member on “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE” twice and, In 2001, wrote and directed his first feature film, “TEDDY BEARS’ PICNIC,” a lightly fictionalized satire of the summer retreat of America’s financial and political elite. In 2010 SHEARER wrote and directed “The Big Uneasy,” a documentary feature about the investigations into the causes of the 2005 flooding of New Orleans. The film has been selected for numerous film festivals and has won multiple awards including The Golden Eagle Award and The Visionary Award at The DC Independent Film Festival.

In 2013 SHEARER created a ground-breaking TV comedy drama series based on real-life recordings from President Nixon’s Oval Office. Written by and starring SHEARER as Richard Nixon, “NIXON’S THE ONE” is made by one of the most respected and prolific UK TV production companies, Hat Trick and was broadcast to great acclaim on Sky Arts.

In 2014 he starred opposite Maureen Lipman in both the West End and on a national UK tour of Oliver Cotton’s acclaimed play “DAYTONA.”

HARRY SHEARER is also known for his bitingly satirical songs and impersonations. He was nominated for a Grammy for his CD SONGS POINTED AND POINTLESS. His album SONGS OF THE BUSHMEN (also Grammy nominated) was an incisive musical impeachment of the Bush administration with impersonations in song of the likes of Cheney, Rumsfeld and Colin Powell. In 2009 he released GREED & FEAR–a searing satirical attack on Wall Street in the wake of the world economic meltdown. In the autumn of 2012 he released CAN’T TAKE A HINT, an album of duets featuring the like of Jamie Cullum, Jane Lynch, Fountains of Wayne, Dr John, Rob Brydon and others. SHEARER‘s musical collaborations with his wife singer/songwriter Judith Owen led to the launch of Courgette Records (a nod to the infamous airport scene from THIS IS SPINAL TAP). SHEARER and Owen have recently returned from a critically acclaimed tour of Australia to debut THIS INFERNAL RACKET, a collaborative comedy and music exploration of fame, celebrity, politics, religion and relationships.

In July 2017, at a ceremony in Nashville, SHEARER was honoured by National Music Council with American Eagle Award in recognition of his contributions to American and Global Musical Culture as a Writer, Humorist, Musician, Composer, Social Commentator and tireless advocate for the rights and fair treatment of Music Creators in the United States and throughout the World.

In 2015 Shearer wrote and presented the BBC Radio 4 documentary, NEW ORLEANS–THE CRESCENT AND THE SHADOW, which was broadcast to mark the tenth anniversary of the flooding of the city that took place following Hurricane Katrina.

A child of Hollywood, Shearer made guest appearances on a variety of A-list television series while still in his teens. Credits include “THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM,” “GENERAL ELECTRIC THEATRE” and “ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS.” He was cast and appeared in the pilot of “LEAVE IT TO BEAVER” as the original Eddie Haskell. His parents, not realizing that the show could be picked up were horrified when it was and removed him so he could attend school.

He attended UCLA as a political science major, where he edited and wrote for the school humor magazine. He pursued graduate work at Harvard University and served a political internship in Sacramento before turning to freelance journalism, most notably covering the Watts riots for Newsweek. In 1968, Shearer auditioned for a satirical news team at KRLA-AM called The Credibility Gap. The crew developed a fanatical following, engaging in guerrilla comedy actions like alternative live running commentaries to the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena. The classic Gap lineup including Shearer, future band mate Michael McKean, David Lander, and Richard Beebe began to play local clubs and eventually recorded a number of hilarious – and now scarce–albums, including A GREAT GIFT IDEA, THE BRONZE AGE OF RADIO and FLOATS.

SHEARER collaborated with writer Tom Leopold and composer Peter Matz to create the book and lyrics for an original musical film about J.Edgar Hoover titled “HERE COMES J EDGAR” now in development.

A published novelist (NOT ENOUGH INDIANS), exhibited artist (TELETHESIA at the Fullerton Museum Center and WALL OF SILENCE at MOCA) and celebrated broadcaster (his satirical sandbox LE SHOW, which has recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, is heard weekly on stations around the world), SHEARER is a multi-talented entertainer, artist and communicator. His writing has been published in, among other periodicals, the New York Times, Film Comment, and the New York Review of Books.

His good friend and colleague, Derek Smalls, recently released his first solo record since the dissolution of Spinal Tap, SMALLS CHANGE (MEDITATIONS ON AGING). The record features guest performances by the cream of rock artists (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Donald Fagen, David Crosby, Rick Wakeman among many others). The live show supporting the record LUKEWARM WATER LIVE received its world premiere in New Orleans 2018, featuring the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and was followed by a special concert 2019 which featured an array of guest talent including, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Dweezil Zappa, Paul Shaffer and Tenacious D (Jack Black, Kyle Gass) as well as live link ups with Donald Fagen, Jane Lynch, The Snarky Puppy Horns and The Budapest Symphony Orchestra. In November this year, Derek staged LUKEWARM WATER LIVE at The Wiltern Los Angeles in a live concert that featured Billy Idol, Steve Lukather, Waddy Wachtel, Dweezil Zappa, Paul Shaffer and Judith Owen as well as live link up performances from a star-studded list that included keyboard legend Rick Wakeman.

Twanky Records was co-founded by Harry Shearer and Judith Owen in 2013 as the recording label to release their personal recording projects.  The company has since established itself globally with local representation in over twenty countries and distribution via Absolute Label Services alongside Amped/Alliance/AWAL for USA and Canada. Judith Owen’s internationally critically acclaimed that have been released under the label comprise Ebb & Flow (2014) – “One of the albums of the year” – The Independent – UK,  Somebody’s Child (2016) and redisCOVERed (2018) – both “Top 100 Albums Of The Year” The Sunday Times –  UK. Twanky Records – We’re Behind You, Inc is based in California USA.

Spearheaded by wunderkind Matt Hermans, Electric Lens Company is a studio and creative laboratory featuring a collective of Australia’s brightest creative and technical artists. Their work has screened on the sails of the Sydney Opera House and they have conjured up virtual reality roller coasters, public installations, holograms and ground-breaking visual effects for international film and television projects.

8/14/20 Arts District

Bounced around the Arts District last night in our recently adopted Las Vegas hometown. Started with excellent tacos + tostadas at Casa Don Juan (a shrine,  inside + out, to Frida Kahlo), window shopped at the vintage stores (Antique Alley Mall, Retro Vegas), picked up a menu at the all-vegan Tacotarian, and walked by other eateries we gotta try like Esther‘s Kitchen and Cornish Pasty Co

Los Angeles alternative rock group SONS OF SILVER–led by Peter Argyropoulos alongside original Pearl Jam drummer Dave KrusenCandlebox bassist Adam Kury, Skillet guitarist Kevin Haaland and keyboardist and esteemed engineer Brina Kabler–have premiered the lyric video for their single “Deep Division” today, August 13. The track is featured on the band’s new EP DOOMSDAY NOISES which was released on July 26 via Universal Music Group/4L Entertainment.

Watch the artfully animated lyric video for “Deep Division” exclusively via Consequence of Sound who proclaim: “The song ‘Deep Division’ highlights Argyropoulos’ soulful vocals as a post-punk guitar riff powers the verses, leading into a melodic alt-rock chorus” here.

Argyropoulos
explains how SONS OF SILVER‘s collaborative songwriting style, signature sound and collective years of experience make this track standout: “The lyrics to this song really speak for us as a band. We write and create our music, collectively. We celebrate collaboration. We’re careful to be inclusive and open to all thoughts and ideas. We embrace our differences. We respect and protect each other no matter how much we might disagree. We move forward together. We’ve learned that division is very destructive, and it begins when listening ends. So, we’re always listening.”

“Deep Division” follows three singles from the DOOMSDAY NOISES EP including the propaganda-driven lyric video for “Rude Awakenings and powerful music videos for World On Fire” and Read ‘Em Their Rights, the latter of which has garnered nearly a million views so far. The band also wrote, recorded and released a remotely recorded single and music video during the global pandemic, “Quarantined In California.”

SONS OF SILVER carries on the rock ‘n’ roll tradition that stirs up dialogue and discourse, with rip-roaring riffs, bluesy rhythms and provocatively poetic lyrics. Under the previous name of Pete RG, the group built a catalog of two EPS–Lightning Strikes [2016] and Reaching for the Moon [2016]–and the 2017 full-length Tender Souls. Recharged as SONS OF SILVER in 2019, they served up the singles “Never Enough” and “Down.”

Dark Pop/Trap Goth Artist BELLA KELLY Reveals Debut Single/Video “Throat”

DT: AUGUST 11, 2020

DARK-POP/TRAP GOTH SINGER-SONGWRITER
BELLA KELLY
REVEALS HORROR-THEMED, FEMME FATALE MUSIC VIDEO FOR
DEBUT SINGLE
“THROAT”
DIRECTED BY VICENTE CORDERO (INDUSTRIALISM FILMS)

“Loving you is like a suicidal pill/
But touching you brings to me/
Hella chills”

17-yearold Georgia-raised, Los Angeles-based dark pop singer/songwriter BELLA KELLY is elated to share her first-ever single “Throat” alongside its riveting horror-themed music video which premiered last Friday (August 7) via Outburn Magazine. The video, seen below, was directed by Vicente Cordero (3Teeth, Skold, Julien-K) along with makeup and propsby Laney Chantal (Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Rob Zombie) and shows BELLA‘s villainous side while paying homage to the vintage horror films she grew up on.
BELLA moved to Los Angeles at the age of nine after being cast in a television commercial by a talent agent who discovered her at the mall. She spent the next four years pursuing an acting career which saw her appear in several short films, series, and feature-length movies. She was then introduced to producer David Gnozzi (MixbusTV, MC SOLAAR) who saw her potential and spent the next two years sharpening her sound and musical identity.
Having battled against adversity from birth by surviving a heart condition that nearly killed her days after she was born, BELLA has always resonated as an outsider who felt unable to connect, so she turned to writing short stories and songs to replace feelings of isolation and sadness. Conjuring strength and resilience from the depths of anxiety, depression, and despair, her music allows safe passage from the real horrors of modern everyday life beckoning those who’ve struggled with anxiety, depression or hardships.
“This is my first single, I’m very excited and happy to finally see it released,” exclaims BELLA. “The video for ‘Throat’ was David’s idea–he knows me better than anyone and this song is very different from my others which are more mellow and emotionally driven. He wanted a strong image for me that counterposed the two sides of me–I’m a sweet girl but I also have had to learn to be strong, so I loved when he came up with the idea of me being a powerful woman in control.”

On making the video and finding the right team, BELLA shared, “We had to work around quarantine but the limitations just made us work harder to come up with new ideas and I couldn’t be happier with the result. David had previously met the director Vicente Cordero on the set of a 3Teeth video and knew he’d be the perfect fit for the ‘Hellraiser’/ horror movie vibe we were going for.”

Cordero adds, “When I was brought on board to direct this music video by David and heard Bella’s new track ‘Throat,’ I became absolutely excited, not only because the track was great but I knew the potential of this new artist and knew that we would make a beautiful dark piece together. Together we all came up with a treatment that met the vibe and tone–true to the track and the artist. In the end we created an artistic, expressionistic, dark chaos that showcases Bella’s tough as nails, femme fatale-like persona encased in a high-quality music video. I am excited to see where her musical journey will take her and the continuation of the story she will tell the world.”

“Because of the lyrics, we knew we wanted to have hands around someone’s throat, and that’s where the prosthetic hand came in,” says BELLA. “David immediately thought about Laney Chantal, one of the best makeup/SFX artists in the industry, and she did an amazing job. She also had to work around quarantine to find materials so everything in the video has a story and a unique look because of it.”

“To release this single for me means a lot,” BELLA divulges. “I don’t write music looking for fame and glory, I use music to purge my emotions and with all my other songs, to help people who hopefully will relate with my stories. I feel blessed that I have people around me making this possible.

North Carolina-based alternative folk artist JEREMY SQUIRES pours out his innermost feelings in his new single, “Labyrinth,” taken from his upcoming August 28 album release MANY MOONS via Blackbird Record Label. With each pluck of his guitar string, the singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist captivates listeners’ hearts as he soothingly croons lyrics that reminisce of a time that once was. “Labyrinth” was premiered yesterday (8/6) at Americana Highways which noted its “close up production feel that will draw you into feeling like you are sitting right here listening live” while describing the song as “very fluid and flowy.”

“‘Labyrinth’ is one of my favorite songs from ‘Many Moons’ and one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written,” shares JEREMY. “I experimented with alternate tunings for the song and came up with a textured/dreamy sound. The lyrics are very close to my heart as well. This song is about living in the same place where you grew up and watching everything change around you. This line from ‘Labyrinth’ conveys what I try to express in the song: ‘The neighbors were building a treehouse for the kids in the yard where I used to play for hours dreaming.’ I tried to write and sing it in a way that paints a vivid portrait.”

MANY MOONS was produced and mixed between JEREMY‘s home studio and a nearby abandoned church. JEREMY recorded all instrumentation including vocals, guitars, bass, drums, percussion, piano and synth aside from a few select tracks that feature Whit Wright (American Aquarium, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves) on pedal steel guitar. Across its 10 tracks, JEREMY does not shy from revealing his true heart as his lyrics revolve around intense life experiences he’s endured–from being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the feeling of guilt for passing it on to his son to memories of his mother, who he lost due to opioid addiction. The result is haunting melancholic melodies that create a unique sonic texture embellished by his experimentation of originally writing the songs on his analog keyboard and citing influences from Paul Westerberg to Mark Kozelek / Sun Kil Moon to The Cure
