Looking for a fresh modern-sounding recording with roots in the golden California sound that’s highlighted by two voices which often soar in tight harmony? Singer, songwriter, and mainstay of the Bay Area music scene Jeff Larson and longtime collaborator Gerry Beckley—known mostly as half of the Grammy Award-winning multi-platinum-selling rock group America with co-founder Dewey Bunnell—have created exactly this with the album JEFF LARSON WITH GERRY BECKLEY. It’s out today (October 24) on the Nashville-based Melody Place label and contains the irresistibly melodic new single “Oh Wow!” with Brian Young (Fountains of Wayne) guesting on drums. Listen to the album and single HERE.

“‘Oh Wow!’ is a song about discovery, wonder, innocence, and fun! I tried to keep it free from ‘grown-up’ concerns and to approach it more from a child’s perspective,” says LARSON. “I’m sure that, when it was written, I had probably worked on too many songs in a row where the mood was melancholy or resigned. Musically, it is a harmony-driven slice of power pop, inspired by various influences from that genre.

“Once the basic song was in place,” he continues, “I sent it to Gerry, and he added bass, piano, backing vocals, etc. We had Brian Young (Fountains of Wayne) on drums, which was right up his alley. Gerry did the final mix so it would share the same feel as the other songs on the album. Fun is a good thing.”

“Oh Wow!” follows the album’s first single “C’mon Home” (released in mid-September).

The Beckley-Larson composition possesses distinctive twin lead vocals, glistening harmonies, ringing guitars, and lyrics that movingly offer a guiding hand to someone who’s lost their way: “Where you gonna run to now boy/When you’re all alone?/Riding like a lonesome cowboy/You were born to roam/…Why don’t you come on home.”

“‘C’mon Home’ was the last song to be added to this project,” says Larson.  “I think we knew we had a strong set of songs but maybe lacked one more to fill it out.  Gerry sent me a track he was working on that I could tell already had a vibe and a hook with the slide part he did.  He had the initial verse lines and chorus idea, so he asked if I would fill the lyric in and sing it.  To me this is classic Gerry Beckley production with hooks all over.  It seems to have almost written and sung itself.”

Beckley says that “after retiring from my life of touring a couple years ago, I discovered that my love for writing and recording has not abated. If anything, this extra daylight in my schedule has allowed me to focus even more on this part of my creativity.   This latest collaboration with Jeff I think stands as a great example. We have been writing and recording together for years now and I feel this is some of our best work ever.”

The eleven compositions on JEFF LARSON WITH GERRY BECKLEY extend the longtime collaboration that began in 1998 when Larson recorded a song by America co-founder Beckley. Not long after, Gerry returned the favor and sang on one of Jeff’s songs. A friendship was born. 2008 saw the release of Heart of the Valley. Inspired by 1970’s Nilsson Sings Newman, on which Harry Nilsson paid tribute to his contemporary Randy Newman with Randy on piano, Heart of the Valley found Larson movingly interpreting the Beckley songbook with Gerry contributing voice and accompaniment. The gorgeously atmospheric title song of Heart of the Valley might have referred to the California freeway known as the 405 (which indeed runs through the heart of the San Fernando Valley) but its appeal and universality extended far beyond the Golden State.

JEFF LARSON WITH GERRY BECKLEY continues their collective story in song. Produced and engineered by Beckley and Larson, it’s a melodic and eclectic set of songs by two friends, singers, and songwriters. Their vocal blend is a sweet and near-familial one as the singer-songwriters reflect on love, loss, and connection–and the poignant connection they’ve made here is one that’s both deeply rooted and vividly in flight. For these two artists, the song’s the thing.

“This project started by going through some of the songs Gerry and I had tracked between 2024-2025,” offers Larson.  We have been writing and recording at a steady pace since 2020–on average a song a week.  Over time, some songs had their own personality where they didn’t fit either of our solo endeavors.  These were also the songs that were more 50/50 collaborations.  I was me simply gathering a playlist of those songs, along with a handful of others that fit the idea of a more collaborative project.  I sent the playlist to Gerry, and he came back immediately with, “There’s an album here.’”

From the opening strains of “Baby Goodbye,” Jeff Larson with Gerry Beckley proves transporting. The song’s farewell may be an emphatic one, but the importance of connection, and lightening one’s load, courses through the album. “One Last Time” conjures the image of standing on a precipice in life, while the pulsating “Looking at the Rain” poses the question, “Where do we go from here?” The lyric “only love survives” might offer a hint as to the answer. The ravishing “Sleight of Hand” finds its narrator at the crossroads, for sure, but with an undercurrent of hope.

If “Sleight of Hand” lopes at a wistful gait recalling Burt Bacharach’s best, the ruminative “Oh Diane”–a Beckley solo tune–basks in a beautiful melancholy redolent of both Bacharach and one of Beckley’s musical heroes and close friends, Brian Wilson. (It’s no surprise that Bacharach and Wilson were mutual admirers and onetime collaborators.) “C’mon Home” glides along on a California breeze with a tinge of “Sister Golden Hair” as Beckley’s still-reassuring slide guitar lines provide cool comfort.

At a time when joy is in short supply, Jeff Larson with Gerry Beckley offers it in abundance, as on the Larson original “Oh Wow!” Lyrically inspired by the innocence and wonder of a child, it doubles as an expression of the sheer adrenaline rush of love in full bloom. A loose, NRBQ-flavored rock-and-roll vibe infuses the track. An unexpected cover of David “Shel” Shapiro, Mogol, and Michael Julien’s “Live for Today” underscores the timelessness and relevance of a great song. “Live for Today” was first recorded in Italian in 1966 by British singer-guitarist Shapiro’s expatriate band, The Rokes, and popularized in the U.S. the next year by L.A.’s Grass Roots. It found particular resonance with young American soldiers fighting overseas in the Vietnam War who identified with its sentiments to “take the most from living, have pleasure while we can.” As reimagined by Larson and Beckley, the urgent admonition to “Live for Today” could have been written yesterday.

Gerry Beckley knows the life of a touring musician well. In 2024, he stepped away from the road after over 50 years on stages around the world with America. The jagged rhythms of “Waiting Game (Jet-Lagged Zombie)” complement its evocative and memorable imagery. “Again” is an arresting and introspective portrait of a traveling man: “It takes a sky to wonder why/If not now, then when?” The album culminates with the Beckley-penned “Amnesia.” With mournful piano and stately strings, it’s raw and devastating (“Why is it that all of the things we recall are the ones we truly regret?”) yet filled with hard-won wisdom and, above all, humanity. With an emphasis on matters of the heart, JEFF LARSON WITH GERRY BECKLEY revisits the era in which songcraft was paramount.

Here’s the track listing of JEFF LARSON WITH GERRY BECKLEY:

1. Baby Goodbye (Gerry Beckley, Jeff Larson)
2. One Last Time (Gerry Beckley, Jeff Larson)
3. Looking at the Rain (Gerry Beckley, Jeff Larson)
4. Oh Diane (Gerry Beckley)
5. C’mon Home (Gerry Beckley, Jeff Larson)

ABOUT MARLENE RICCI

Marlene Ricci was born in Buffalo, New York, where she made her singing debut at age five. By sixteen, she was driven to perform at nightclubs in the Buffalo area by her father. A few years later, she made her way to Las Vegas, where Frank Sinatra saw her “belting it out” in the Aladdin lounge. He immediately called her over to his table and asked her to join his tour and put Marlene on the bill as his opening act. During that two-and-a-half-year tour across the country, Marlene was picked by Smith-Hemion Productions as the Cinderella girl and featured in the CBS TV Special “Cinderella at the Palace,” videotaped at Caesars.

Marlene went on to perform with many of the world’s greatest entertainers, Bob Hope, Paul Anka, Flip Wilson, Don Rickles, George Burns, Lee Greenwood, even the Village People, and many others. A Top 20 pop hit in Europe, “Tonight” created concert performances worldwide and numerous TV appearances in Europe and in the US, on Merv Griffin, Nashville Now, and The Tonight Show. After breaking all records during her run at The Top O’ the Dunes, she returned to the Strip as a guest star in “The Great Radio City Spectacular” featuring the Rockettes at the Flamingo. That successful engagement led to a long run in the Le Bistro Theater at the Riviera. Since then, Ricci has graced the stage of many Vegas Venues, including her recent performance to a “sold out” audience at the Elegant Stirling Club.

Marlene continues to wow listeners with her incredible song styling, versatility, and unpretentious stage manner. She has a fine ability to work with an audience, getting close – a sense influenced, no doubt, by Frank Sinatra.

Since, Tyler has amassed half a billion global streams to date and notched three No. 1 hits on SiriusXM’s The Highway with his debut album TWO THOUSAND MILES, featuring PLATINUM-certified “The Difference”, GOLD-certified “Leave Her Wild”, plus the subsequent viral hit “Better Than You’re Used To.” In 2022, Tyler joined forces with one of Canada’s most successful bilingual singer-songwriters, Marie-Mai for a duet on “Thinkin’ We’re In Love,” which reached #5 on Quebec Pop Radio. Tyler’s music embodies the feelings all people have in common – the need for acceptance, devotion and a place to call their own – and that empathetic spirit extends to animals too. With Rich Rescues, Tyler visits local shelters while out on the road to raise awareness for pet adoption to fans in those cities.

ABOUT SPENCER CRANDALL

Unfiltered. Unconventional. And above all, unapologetic. Those are the defining traits of a whole new generation of Country star – and Spencer Crandall is one of them.  As one of the Country’s most progressive new talents, self-made and as dynamic as they come, Crandall has no time to say “sorry” for his raw, soul-baring stories. Driven toward greatness, he’s got no remorse for his big dreams and pulls no punches with his ever-evolving sound. The Nashville-based artist has spent years combining pop’s untamed energy with the confessional lyricism of Country, opening up territory no one before him even knew existed. Growing up in Denver with a tight knit family, the creative powerhouse was taught hard work and dedication and learned his lessons well – even playing football in college. But when injuries ended his career, the standout athlete was officially out of his comfort zone. Fully embracing his natural, genre-defying instincts, with ultra-smooth vocals, deeply personal themes and hot-blooded performances, Crandall now counts 1.2M monthly Spotify listeners, 400M total career streams, more than 3M followers on TikTok, as well as an RIAA Gold Record for his fan favorite his ‘My Person’. His incredible music and fan engagement have driven sold-out shows around the nation. As he fully embraces his natural high-energy live show and genre-defying instincts, paired with his ultra-smooth vocals and deeply personal themes, Crandall’s sonic frontier expands again with ‘The Right One’ his fastest streaming song to date and currently playing on Sirius XM’s The Highway.

ABOUT BRODIE STEWART

Brodie Stewart grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento and spent his summers in Red Bluff, California. At a young age, his favorite things to do were going to the rodeo, listening to country music, singing and playing guitar. Soon enough, Brodie formed and fronted a southern rock band and had the good fortune of touring the country opening for big artists in front of sold-out arenas. His band even charted on Billboard.

With his southern rock roots, Brodie returned to what he loved the most, “country music”. While writing songs for his own album, Brodie also wrote and produced songs for various other artists, such as “Sweet Isabel”, recorded by Enrique Iglesias for his (Interscope Records) release entitled “Insomniac”. Shortly after placing Sweet Isabel with Enrique, Martin Kierszenbaum (President of Cherrytree/Interscope Records) signed Brodie to a song/production deal with the label. Quickly following, Brodie signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Publishing. Since that time, Brodie has written and produced several tracks for various artists.

Currently, 100% of Brodie’s attention is on his country music endeavors. On his debut album “Born American”, Brodie teamed up with guitarist/producer/songwriter “Adam Shoenfeld” (Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Jake Owen, Big and Rich, Florida Georgia Line and many more) to co-produce and play on the album along with several top players, including working with one great engineer, Aaron Chmielewski in Nashville. In addition to gearing up promotion for his “Debut Album”, Brodie’s “high octane show” has been touring the West Coast.

ABOUT LILY GRACE

Lily Grace may be young but with millions of streams, an ARIA No. 1 debut album, Australian music awards and a plethora of high-profile performances, she radiates from Gold Coast, Australia to Nashville, Tennessee.

She not only possesses the No. 5 highest selling country album in Australia in 2024 with her debut album Old Enough To Know Better, but is up for numerous awards and, already in 2025 alone, has hit the road opening for Orianthi and Robben Ford, as well as her own headlining ‘Give Me That’ Tour. Through effortless vocal abilities, prolific songwriting and a warm disposition, her vibrance is undeniable and her talent is unparalleled. Already turning industry heads, the Aussie is collaborating with iconic artists and honing her craft in the US.

ABOUT LILY ROSE

Lily Rose has never been one to second-guess herself. After her breakout 2020 viral hit “Villain” was released, the Atlanta native went from local favorite to national name practically overnight – – landing a record deal, joining tours with Sam Hunt, Luke Bryan and Shania Twain, national TV performances and racking up accolades including an ACM Best New Female Artist nomination and GLAAD’s Outstanding Breakthrough Artist Award. But even with the momentum, Lily was still searching – not for success, but for clarity.

That clarity defines her next chapter in I Know What I Want, her long-awaited full-length debut released on October 3. Capturing a new era of creative freedom and blending country, pop and hip-hop influences, Lily is stepping fully into a sound that’s unmistakably her own. Named an artist to watch by CMT, Music Row, Amazon and more, she continues to carve out a path rooted in bold storytelling, powerful vocals, dynamic stage presence and a deep connection to a rapidly growing fanbase who see themselves in her songs.
