CDWA RECORDS and the California Desert Wizards Association (CDWA)—known for their annual Joshua Tree live music festival/generator party Stoned and Dusted—will present a world premiere livestream concert film series highlighting the California Desert Rock scene, LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT: VOLUMES 1-5. Inspired by Pink Floyd’s Live at Pompeii 1972 concert documentary film, the series will consist of five concert streams featuring five albums from five bands as well as including visuals by Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show filmed and recorded from the natural amphitheater of California’s Mojave Desert. Each event will last two hours which will include an hour long “Couchlock and Rock” session featuring a chat hosted by the California Desert Wizards alongside special guests including band members and icons from the California Desert Rock scene—think if MTV in the 80’s was run by heshers and stoners. The second hour will feature the 1080p HD livestream concert film experience. The band lineup includes:

EARTHLESS – Saturday, January 23
NEBULA – Saturday, February 6
SPIRIT MOTHER – Saturday, February 2
MOUNTAIN TAMER – Saturday, March 6
STONER (the new project from Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri)– Saturday, March 20

“In October 2020 we filmed and recorded five bands in four days, deep in the deep sand and iconic rocks of the desert,” shares LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT producer RYAN JONES. “It was a major undertaking to bring this many people and this much gear out to a very remote desert location. Including the bands, we had 25 people onsite daily. With only one road in, everyone and all the gear had to come up a half mile long hill of deep sand–30 miles from nowhere. We had to hire local desert guys with huge 4×4 pickups to help. The Mad Alchemy Liquid Light Show projected on a four-story high, double pyramid of boulders and we had a crack squad of filmmakers, photographers and recording engineers there to capture it all. It was insane, but it was worth it to see our favorite bands play again!”

Tickets are on sale now at https://www.tixr.com/groups/cdwa/events/cdwa-records-presents-live-in-the-mojave-desert-20473. In addition to virtual tickets, CDWA will offer physical merch pre-order options for CD, Vinyl and DVD for each LIVE IN THE MOJAVE DESERT film. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for pre-order options.

To lend support to the live music industry following the impact of the pandemic, CDWA are offering an Affiliate Program which will give a portion of sales to participants (such as venues, promoters, independent artists, etc.) that sell tickets through a unique affiliate link. For further details, click HERE.

“CDWA once again commits to the ultimate Rock n Roll experience for the fans and the bands regardless of what might stand in the way,” says STONER’s BRANT BJORK (Kyuss, Fu Manchu). “Covid literally shut down live performance around the world… what do you do? You use your imagination, and you go all in. Congrats to CDWA and all the bands and crew involved in this Rock n Roll response of light in this year of concert stage darkness.”

“I think that California Desert Wizards Association is doing a great thing and a new thing under the circumstances of COVID-19, because what I do for a living stopped cold, dead in its tracks,” adds STONER’s NICK OLIVERI (Kyuss, Queens of The Stone Age). “I feel the powers that be are trying to stop and kill music or live music and I believe Doctah Jones is doing a great thing by keeping it alive. We need more people like him coming forward. Let me add, what a cool original idea—a live stream while releasing a live record. For a collector like myself this is a great thing! Big cigars and cold beers to CDWA records. RnR will never die.”

The highly anticipated new project from acclaimed guitarist GEORGE LYNCH (Dokken, Lynch Mob), THE BANISHMENT, has today premiered their debut single “Lost Horizon” pegged to the launch of an Indiegogo campaign to assist with the funding for the recording and manufacturing of their self-titled debut album scheduled for release in early 2021. Self-proclaimed as “dream punk,” THE BANISHMENT is a collaborative effort formed by LYNCH with programmer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist JOE HAZE. Listen to a stream of “Lost Horizon” via SoundCloud HERE and see a teaser for its upcoming music video streaming below.

The idea for THE BANISHMENT has been years in the making for LYNCH to further push his creativity into darker, subliminal and chaotic territories. To accomplish this, he teamed up with HAZE over five years ago, who in addition to being the live guitarist for Lords of Acid, is known in the industry for his work producing/co-producing, mixing and engineering for acts including Sublime, 8MM, Raymond Watts (PIG), Chuck Mosely, David Archuleta, Jedd Moss (Air Supply), Gladys Knight and television networks such as ESPN and National Geographic.

Following multiple failed attempts auditioning vocalists, THE BANISHMENT was close to being shelved until through a series of chance meetings and connections HAZE was introduced to DEVIX AKA at the 2019 Cold Waves Music Festival; he had been grinding his teeth against metal in the Los Angeles underground with acts including The Narcosis Design and Symbolism (featuring original members of Christian Death & Samhain) under the “dream punk” genre.

THE BANISHMENT has since been collectively working around the unpredictable covid-19 lockdown restrictions to record “Lost Horizon” and will continue to work on material for the forthcoming full-length debut. The newly launched Indiegogo campaign to support their efforts offers fans several perks including signed copies of the album on CD and vinyl, handwritten lyrics, original one-of-a-kind paintings from LYNCH and DEVIX AKA, pedals used from the recording, a signed guitar by LYNCH and more. PYSCHOSEXUAL Release Covers EP ‘Songs To Stalk You By’ with guest Jason Hook (ex- Five Finger Death Punch)

DT: NOVEMBER 27, 2020

FM: KELLY WALSH, SRO PR

PSYCHOSEXUAL
RELEASE COVERS EP
‘SONGS TO STALK YOU BY’

ALBUM FEATURES GUEST GUITAR SOLOS FROM FRONTMAN JEREMY SPENCER’S FORMER FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH BANDMATE
JASON HOOK

COVERS INCLUDE KISS, TYPE O NEGATIVE, DAVID BOWIE, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, QUEENSRYCHE AND THE POLICE,
WITH PROMO VIDEOS FOR EACH

(November 27, 2020, Las Vegas, NV) – Looking for a twisted take on the classics this holiday season? Las Vegas-based theatrical rock band PSYCHOSEXUAL are celebrating Black Friday with the surprise release of their brand-new covers EP SONGS TO STALK YOU BY. It is available across all streaming and digital platforms, and on vinyl, CD and USB via www.psychosexualalbums.com. Tis the season–flash those devil horns and keep the holidays ghoulish and bright!

“This is a fun little compilation of bands I love,” says PSYCHOSEXUAL founder and spiritual leader JEREMY SPENCER, whose DEVIL DADDY persona fronts the fantasy and horror-inspired follow-up to his multi-platinum former band FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. “There is definitely a tongue-in-cheek creepiness to the themes that tie the songs together, and that’s what made them so much fun to record. The fact that stalking and social distancing go hand-in-hand is just a happy coincidence.”

The EP also reunites SPENCER with former FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist JASON HOOK, who contributes solos on the KISS classic “Watchin’ You” and QUEENSRYCHE’s “Gonna Get Close To You.” The recordings mark the first time the pair have worked together since both parted ways with 5FDP.

SONGS TO STALK YOU BY Track Listing:

  1. KISS – “Watchin’ You” (video: https://youtu.be/UWbrvjMcR78)
  2. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS – “Sex Type Thing” (video: https://youtu.be/akrYmmie8GQ)
  3. QUEENSRYCHE – “Gonna Get Close To You” (video: https://youtu.be/U-VN85QkoeA)
  4. TYPE O NEGATIVE – “Love You To Death” (video: https://youtu.be/6pB1R4N9lqE)
  5. DAVID BOWIE – “Love You Till Tuesday” (video: https://youtu.be/O57kTWREnoA)
  6. THE POLICE – “Every Breath You Take” (video: https://youtu.be/GKEE50nKBa0)

In addition to dropping the EP, PSYCHOSEXUAL have also released promotional videos for all six tracks. “The opportunity to write, create, produce, shoot videos and release albums on my own label during these uncertain days is an incredible accomplishment under months of lockdown and fear,” says SPENCER, who was a founding member and co-writer in 5FDP.

PSYCHOSEXUAL released their debut album TORCH THE FAITH on July 31. Like the EP, it was co-produced by SPENCER and SHAWN MCGHEE (Drowning Pool) and released via SPENCER’s 6eX Records. The debut premiered at #150 on the Billboard Top Albums chart, reaching #5 on the Hard Music Albums, #12 on Top New Artist Albums and #30 on Current Rock Albums.

To celebrate Halloween, the band released an Anime-inspired video for “I Want To Be The Blood In Your Cut,” which featured a chorus sung by SPENCER in Japanese. The album version of the track is all in English and features a solo from TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist KENNY HICKEY.

“This year has been uniquely challenging for all of us, to say the least, but releasing ‘TORCH THE FAITH’ has been a dream come true,” says SPENCER, who sports a Mephistophelian mask as DEVIL DADDY, and is joined in the band by guitarist CRUCIFER, bassist ASTAROTH and drummer VOLAC. “I’m a fan of so many types of music – from DAVID BOWIE to DEVO to black metal – and PSYCHOSEXUAL is the outlet I’ve needed to bring all these things together in one big evil stew. I can’t wait to finally tour and get out there to meet new fans and old familiar faces.”

FM: KELLY WALSH/MITCH SCHNEIDER, SRO PR

THE RADDICAL’s
2020-DEFINING SONG
[dear universe]
INSPIRES POSITIVITY AMIDST TUMULTUOUS YEAR

“If 2020 were a song, ‘[dear universe]’ would be it,” proclaim Extra (10/27/20) regarding the head-turning debut single from Los Angeles-based alternative rock/pop project THE RADDICAL. The track is an empowering call-to-arms to humankind and its accompanying music video (as seen below) sheds light on current events that have plagued the year including the global pandemic, school shootings, an increase in homelessness, wildfires, police brutality, systemic racism, militant nationalism and isolationism with a mix of images and news clips. “[dear universe]” also includes audio provided by the estate of Charlie Chaplin from his ‘Final Speech’ in the 1940 film The Great Dictator:

You, the people have the power – the power to create machines.
The power to create happiness!
You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful,
to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Let us use that power
!”

“This year has been so many levels of crazy and hurt, it’s almost impossible to stay hopeful, but we have to,” says THE RADDICAL’s founder Dann Saxton. “Humans are resilient. We’ll push through the virus and keep pushing for peace, love, and equality. Life feels stagnant now, but the future is an exciting place.”

Ahmet Zappa’s Monsterfoot Productions Acquires Rights To Classic Weird-Ohs Monster Hot Rod Model Kits

DATE: NOVEMBER 23, 2020

FROM: MARCEE RONDAN/MITCH SCHNEIDER

AHMET ZAPPA’S
MONSTERFOOT PRODUCTIONS
REVS UP DEVELOPMENT FOR
CLASSIC DRAG RACING MONSTER TOY LINE
WEIRD-OHS

AHMET ZAPPA’s L.A.-based entertainment company, Monsterfoot Productions, has acquired the rights to develop and create new shows and media based on the classic Weird-Ohs monster hot rod model kits of the 1960’s.

Weird-Ohs is the brainchild of William “Bill” Campbell, who in the early ‘60s set out to design a wild cast of ‘monsters in hot rods’ along the lines of Ed “Big Daddy” Roth’s designs. The Hawk Model Company released the first line of Weird-Ohs based on Campbell’s designs in 1963 spawning a hit model toy line with licenses extending from board games, masks, trading cards, records, puzzles, lunch boxes and action figures to an animated series which aired on Fox Family in 2000.

Zappa’s Monsterfoot Productions is no stranger to the kids’ entertainment space having conceived the story and both developed and produced the feature film “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” for Walt Disney Pictures, as well as created the popular “Star Darlings” franchise for Disney Channel.

“This is a dream come true for me,” AHMET ZAPPA says. “I’ve been a fan of Bill Campbell’s work my entire life. In fact, I was inspired to call my company Monsterfoot because of artists like Bill. Weird-Ohs combines two things I love: monsters and hot rods. What’s better than that?”

The licensing agency responsible for brokering the deal between Zappa and current owner of Weird-Ohs, J. Lloyd International is Toronto-based, MLGPC.

“There is no one on this earth more well suited to develop entertainment for the Weird-Ohs brand than Ahmet Zappa and the talented team at Monsterfoot. I have no doubt that Ahmet’s creative is going to blow people’s minds!” Michael Goodman, MLGPC founder and CEO said.

Ahmet Zappa is an entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, film and television screenwriter, director, producer, musician, inventor and the radio talk show host of “Rocktails” on SiriusXM. His projects have touched the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world making him the perfect person to bring Weird-Ohs back into the spotlight.

MLGPC is a toy and entertainment licensing agency best known for bringing Fugglers to market with the help of Spin Master and currently represents a slew of new and classic toy lines like Werepups, Big Wheel, Robo Force, Power Lords, Great Garloo, Marx Toys and several others. In addition to representing toy and game properties, MLGPC currently handles the licensing for Troma Entertainment (The Toxic Avenger, Toxic Crusaders & Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.).

DEAD ROCK WEST Share Official Alternate Video For “Revolution In The Garden”—Video Directed By Henry Mortensen

DEAD ROCK WEST
SHARE OFFICIAL ALTERNATE VIDEO FOR
REVOLUTION IN THE GARDEN

VIDEO DIRECTED BY HENRY MORTENSEN,
THE SON OF EXENE CERVENKA OF X
AND ACTOR VIGGO MORTENSEN

Acclaimed Los Angeles-based band DEAD ROCK WEST–led by vocalist Cindy Wasserman and singer-guitarist Frank Lee Drennen—today (November 23) have shared the official alternative video to their politically charged song “Revolution In The Garden” (Blackbird Record Label). It was directed by Henry Mortensen, the son of Exene Cervenka of X and actor Viggo Mortensen. Watch the video here. Glide Magazine premiered the video November 20, writing that the band never let their boots down and their new single “Revolution in the Garden” is equally poignant, resilient, and powerful. The band combines absolute rockish thunder and a punkish raw noir that mixes shades of Patti Smith with The Germs.”

Henry Mortensen directed and shot the video between northern Idaho, Denmark, the Thousand Islands region of New York, the wilds of Yosemite and finally the sun-dappled ocean breeze of Venice, California, mixing images of the Garden of America with the cartoon influences of an American Youth past. The animation of the song’s chorus became a collaborative effort with all hands on deck, including Kelli Mayo of Skating Polly, Louis Perez III and even Exene Cervenka whose handwritten artworks are all seen in the video. The hand of Viggo Mortensen also appears; Henry’s father signed on for a guest spot pushing a stick around in frame. We are told that his hand was paid scale. It all was in an effort to fulfill Henry’s vision for the film, which was of a true garden, its defenders, of justice and hope, even in the face of intense conflict.

The first video for “Revolution In The Garden” was premiered via American Songwriter (October 21) with a piece by Paul Zollo who noted that “the new passionately incendiary single by the acclaimed Americana-plus band Dead Rock West, led by Frank Lee Drennen and Cindy Wasserman…is a great song and remarkable record, expansively produced by David J Carpenter, and delivered with urgency by Frank and Cindy together, bringing back the dual spirit of John Doe and Exene in X.”

“Revolution In The Garden” marks a potent new sound for Dead Rock West whose 2017 album More Love was produced by punk rock legend John Doe of X and who’ve toured with X, Dave & Phil Alvin, and Peter Case. The band’s line-up is rounded out by Geoff Pearlman (lead guitar), David J Carpenter (lead bass guitar) and Phil Parlapiano (lead piano + keys). On the new song, they’re joined by Matt Lynott of The White Buffalo on lead drums, indie artist Patrick Dennis (lead percussion) and The Section Quartet (strings). “Revolution In The Garden” is sonically propulsive and lyrically a powerful call-to-action with lines like “The voice in our head/The voice on the tube/The voice tellin’ us/We’re all gonna lose.” Read the press release here about the song’s release and lyric video.

The song was written by Drennen and indie rock artist Patrick Dennis 30 years ago when they played in a duo called The Homer Gunns from Leucadia, CA near San Diego. All of these years later, “Revolution In The Garden” feels more timely than ever.
