Following this past February’s inaugural KIND MUSIC FESTIVAL pop-up event, KIND has now expanded the festival by partnering with the progressive cannabis exhibition company SHOWCASE EVENTS to announce THE KIND SHOWCASE AT TYSON RANCH, set for Thursday, October 10 to Saturday, October 12, 2019. The three-day consumable cannabis experience will be the first-ever event to combine a traditional music festival with a direct-to-consumer and B2B cannabis vending and lifestyle convention.

The inaugural KIND MUSIC FESTIVAL–at the future site of the Tyson Ranch Resorts, a 420-acre entertainment complex, luxury glamping resort, cannabis research & design facility created and owned by Mike Tyson–saw over 5,200 fans embrace California’s updated cannabis regulations while enjoying a music festival experience, which featured standout sets by Miguel, Ferg, Starcrawler and more.

Rob Hickman (CEO, Tyson Ranch): “We’re thrilled to join forces with Showcase Events. Brandon’s experience in the convention/tradeshow space will be invaluable to the growth of the Kind Festival experience.”

Mike Tyson: “Since the founding of Tyson Ranch, I’ve been focused on building awareness of the health benefits of the plant with the general public. The Kind Showcase is an example of our commitment.”

THE KIND SHOWCASE AT TYSON RANCH will also take place at the Tyson Ranch Resort grounds in Desert Hot Springs, CA, In addition to recreating the 18+ outdoor stage and festival area presented at the February pop-up event, THE KIND SHOWCASE AT TYSON RANCH team are also constructing the world’s largest temporary structure which will stretch (755 ft long x 135 ft wide x 55 ft tall). It will offer a comfortable air-conditioned experience for 21+ and over festival goers to browse several hundreds of cannabis vendors and activations. See an outside and inside perspective rendering of the structure below.

Q&A with SHOWCASE Founder BRANDON FINNEY

What is SHOWCASE and how did it get started? Can you provide a quick background on the success of the company and what it has achieved?

We are a consumable cannabis event for both businesses and consumers to check out the latest and greatest in the California cannabis market. My brother and I joined forces in 2014 to create the Showcase brand. Our background is growing up travelling around the country while our family ran events. When we decided to branch out, we were able to focus on industries we were passionate about. With cannabis being the newest and strongest industry of our era, we knew that’s where we needed to be.

How did you first hear about KIND and what sparked the idea to combine forces?

At the beginning of the year there was already a ton of talk in the industry about the KIND Festival, and we took notice. At that time, we were also looking for locations and vendors for our first Showcase Cannabis event. After meeting with Tyson Ranch, we realized our visions lined up and we would be stronger together to create this unique experience.

What is the main purpose behind THE KIND SHOWCASE AT TYSON RANCH?

Most current cannabis events are focused on one demographic and style, but the landscape of the industry is evolving. The Kind Showcase will reflect the changes in the industry and provide something for everyone.

How will this year’s event be different than the KIND MUSIC pop-up event earlier this year (and please talk about the expanded days)?

While the Kind Festival was an amazing concert celebrating cannabis, The Kind Showcase partnership is elevating the cannabis culture.  With adding additional days to include B2B and consumer sales, cannabis vendors will have the ability to build relationships directly with their audience. The best part, we still have still have the amazing music and experiences that Kind offers.

Will music fans have a similar or different experience to the first KIND festival?

In short, the answer is both. KIND Festival did a great job of bringing together music headliners for a one-day event.  With The Kind Showcase being three days, we are able to diversify the music portfolio. We are including a variety of genres so there’s a little something for everyone attending. A main focus will be on local rising acts that Southern California is known for. That being said, we will feature big name artists to wrap up each night.

You are building the world’s largest temporary structure. How did this concept come to mind? What are some of the challenges you’ve come across to make this happen?

Originally, we weren’t looking to build a structure, but with how the market is right now, most cities in Southern California won’t allow cannabis to be sold in their facilities.  What’s the logical step? Build our own. With Desert Hot Springs being the pioneering cannabis city, and Tyson Ranch building a luxury resort, Kind Showcase has the perfect locale to place our foundation.

What makes THE KIND SHOWCASE AT TYSON RANCH a unique experience?

One thing that makes Kind Showcase unique is that we are both a B2B and consumer show event that brings elements of a festival experience. Another fact that sets us apart is that we actually have a home. We can have an event twice a year, or whenever we want, because we own the land. This allows us to create not just a local event, but a destination.
