From Adelaide to America, HILLTOP HOODS–made up of Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris–will bring their high-energy-leave-no-prisoners show to audiences across North America. This marks the final leg of “The Great Expanse World Tour,” from November 8 to December 12, with main support Adrian Eagle and special guest DJ Total Eclipse (X-Ecutioners). *Read a Q&A with DJ Debris below.
The current World Tour has made history for both the band and their home country by being the largest hip-hop tour ever from an Australian artist with more than 80,000 fans in attendance over seven shows in Australia alone. This follows a main support trek across Australia and New Zealand, with rap superstar Eminem. Having sold out most of their European leg, HILLTOP HOODS will keep the momentum going across the U.S. and Canada. HILLTOP HOODS have already sold out shows in Portland, Chicago and Calgary with many more close to selling out.
HILLTOP HOODS are currently supporting their eighth studio album THE GREAT EXPANSE which marks a total six #1 albums overall-an ARIA record for the most #1 albums by an Australian band. THE GREAT EXPANSE delivered a string of hits with platinum-selling “Clark Griswold” feat. Adrian Eagle and double platinum-selling singles “Leave Me Lonely” and “Exit Sign,“ featuring Ecca Vandal and Illy. These hits now join songs featuring artists such as Sia, Black Thought (The Roots), Pharoahe Monch, Chali 2na (Jurassic 5) and Brother Ali.
HILLTOP HOODS in the last decade have sold over 1 million albums in Australia alone and have achieved over 640 million global streams.

Since their breakout platinum-selling LP The Calling, which included smash hit “The Nosebleed Section,” the trio have established themselves as a force on the world Hip Hop stage. Q&A WITH DJ DEBRIS
OF HILLTOP HOODS What do you look forward to most on returning to North America this tour?
DJ DEBRIS: New venues, new faces and finishing the tour in Hawaii (somewhere I’ve never been).
You’ve performed with bands and fests in a wide scope of genres-from hip-hop to pop and even rock and alternative-what is it about your live performance do you think that enables that?
DJ DEBRIS: Our live set is very energetic and dynamic. We try to create an ebb and flow to our performance which lends itself well to different types of shows/venues/line-ups.
If you overheard one fan talking to another after leaving a show of yours, what would you like to hear them say about the gig?
DJ DEBRIS: Recently after a show in Europe, I overheard a fan saying to their friend that the show was transcendent, which I thought was a unique and pretty cool description.
What is your favorite old and new song to perform live, and why? DJ DEBRIS: Favorite old song: ‘The Nosebleed Section’–it seems to work with any crowd. Favorite new song: ‘Be Yourself’–I really enjoy scratching on this one (and I really love the tempo/groove on it too).
What has surprised you most in your career?
DJ DEBRIS: Selling 1,000,00 records in Australia!
Can you walk us through the special chemistry of the band and exactly why it works?
DJ DEBRIS: That’s a tough one… chemistry is something that’s either there or it isn’t, and not something that can be forged (in my opinion). Being great friends for so long and going thru so much together definitely helps though!
If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
DJ DEBRIS: Biggie Smalls. He left a timeless and indelible mark on Hip Hop.
What songs or artists are currently on your playlist?
DJ DEBRIS: I’ve had Loyle Carner’s most recent album ‘Not Waving, But Drowning’ on repeat for the last few weeks. I’m a sucker for having one artist or album on repeat until I rinse the life from it.
Can you describe your best gig ever-and your worst one?
DJ DEBRIS: Best gig ever: the first time we played ‘Splendour in the Grass’,’ an Australian festival held in Byron Bay.
Worst gig ever: RSL club (a veteran’s club) in Sydney, Australia when we were starting out. I think we played to 3 people. Haha.
