THE VERVE PIPErecently shared news of their first socially distanced, COVID safety compliant performance on October 17 in Omaha, NE at Orpheum Theater. Now, the multi-platinum alternative rock group are equally excited to announce a special virtual livestream leading up to that gig. The Michigan-based outfit have brought together two of their favorite venues, The Ark (Ann Arbor) and The Listening Room (Grand Rapids), to co-host a livestreamed experience to be filmed at The Listening Room on Saturday, October 10. The event will feature the band grouped “in the round” with multi-camera HD video and concert-quality audio, allowing fans an insider look at the band’s creative process and friendship as they play recognizable hits from their discography-such as 1997’s iconic #1 single “The Freshmen“– and share the stories behind them along with debut new, never-before-heard material.
“This will be a live stream like no other; an inside look at the band’s creative process,” reveals front man BRIAN VANDER ARK. “In addition to playing the favorites and telling some of the stories behind them, I’ll be introducing two new songs to the band for the first time, and we’ll work them out live in front of the virtual audience.”
“In this time when we can’t present artists in person the way we are used to doing,” states THE ARK‘s Program Director Anya Siglin. “The Ark is working to find ways to keep the music going and support artists, like The Verve Pipe, who mean so much to us and have been part of our musical family for so many years. It’s exciting to be able to work collaboratively and in partnership with The Listening Room in a new and creative way that supports both our venues and brings a truly special experience to our audiences.”

THE VERVE PIPE–who garnered worldwide recognition for their radio hits “Photograph,” “Hero,” “Never Let You Down,” and their classic 1997 #1 single “The Freshmen” along with a feature of the song “Colorful” in the 2001 movie Rock Star–have managed to maintain their legacy over their 25+ year career by expanding their musical boundaries and honing in on their powerful live performances of which they are excited to return to.
“Like most of our peers, we’re creating, creating, creating; songs and videos mostly,” shares lead singer/principal songwriter Brian Vander Ark on how they’ve kept busy during quarantine. “It’s also been a good time to revisit our instruments, better ourselves as players for when the pandemic lifts. We’re tweaking the live show, finding new ways to make performances more interesting and impactful for an intimate audience. I for one am looking forward to the new challenges we have to face.”
THE VERVE PIPE‘s latest studio album, 2017’s Parachute, featured a refreshed lineup accompanying Vander Ark including Lou Musa (lead guitars), Randy Sly (keyboards, backing vocalist), Joel Ferguson (bass, backing vocals), Sam Briggs (drums, percussion) and Channing Lee (backing vocals). A new, yet-to-be-titled full-length album is planned for release in early 2021. Stay tuned for further details.
