Formed out of Los Angeles nearly 15 years ago, heavy metal outfit BUTCHER BABIES have consistently brought their crushing riffs and vicious vocals to audiences across the globe with their relentless tour schedule and previous releases. Marking the 10-year anniversary of their debut 2013 album Goliath (Century Media) this July, the band have prepared some of their most personal and in-depth work to date for their anticipated forthcoming double album EYE FOR AN EYE… and …‘TIL THE WORLD’S BLIND both due July 7. The project was announced last month along with the new single/music video “Red Thunder,” a return to the band’s metalcore and thrash roots. “It’s been exactly 10 years since the release of our debut album ‘Goliath’ that sent us into a decade of ups and downs that we wouldn’t trade for the world,” announces co-vocalist HEIDI SHEPHERD. “In celebration, we’re unleashing a well-overdue, double album that pulls in the influences and growing pains we have experienced in our successes and failures. This double album is our yin and yang; our blood pact.”

Co-vocalist CARLA HARVEY reveals that “Each album was recorded in a vastly different climate that I’m certain gave each its own distinct vibe.  ‘Eye For An Eye…’ was made in a sun-drenched Arizona desert, while during the recording of ‘…’Til The World’s Blind,’ the band was holed up, making music in the dead of winter in Midland, Michigan. You can hear the warmth in ‘Eye for an Eye…’ and the cold desolation in ‘…‘Til The World’s Blind.’ Together they encompass light and dark, fire and ice.  And in my opinion, you need both elements to make something truly great.”

Today, June 9, BUTCHER BABIES have released the melancholic and harrowing new single “Last December” (which appears on …‘TIL THE WORLD’S BLIND) across all digital platforms. The intimate song was co-produced by BUTCHER BABIES guitarist Henry Flury and Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, In Hearts Wake) at Random Awesome Studios. Los Angeles-based heavy metal powerhouse BUTCHER BABIES have dropped a new single, “Red Thunder,” which explores the band’s darker side by leaning into their thrash/djent roots with an explosive guitar solo. The single–release this past Friday, May 12, across digital platforms–can be streamed HERE. An accompanying music video for “Red Thunder” will be premiered via the band’s YouTube channel tomorrow, May 13, followed by a live Q&A chat with the band, RSVP HERE.

Along with the release of “Red Thunder” comes the announcement of BUTCHER BABIES’ double album EYE FOR AN EYE… and …‘TIL THE WORLD’S BLIND both due July 7 (“Red Thunder” will appear on …‘TIL THE WORLD’S BLIND). The double album celebrates the group’s ten-year anniversary of their critically acclaimed debut album GOLIATH, released on July 9, 2013 via Century Media Records. Discussing the new single’s sound, frontwoman Heidi Shepherd says: “‘Red Thunder’ is a massive nod to the style and sound of our beloved first album ‘Goliath’ that launched Butcher Babies into the metal stratosphere exactly a decade ago. Bringing in the groovy, guttural, thrash elements that we became known for, alongside a soaring melodic chorus, ‘Red Thunder’ culminates the dark, painful, and emotional side of the band. The song was written to remind the world that when she speaks, she speaks in Thunder!”

Frontwoman Carla Harvey lends insight into the inspiring and deeply personal meaning behind “Red Thunder”: “At its core ‘Red Thunder’ is a song about giving a voice to the voiceless.  But not just any voice; a cry so powerful that it shakes those that have wronged them to their core. As Heidi and I were writing the lyrics, my personal inspiration became my sister, Julia, born with microcephaly. She died very young, and I did not get the chance to know her, but I have one haunting photo of her as a baby that I brought with me to the session as inspiration.  In the photo she has one arm outstretched to the camera and these beautiful piercing eyes; my heart breaks that she didn’t get to live a LIFE; but in my dreams, my father’s daughter blooms…and speaks in thunder.”

Of the writing process for “Red Thunder,” guitarist Henry Flury says: “The opening riff was the first spark of inspiration when writing this song and it was also the first clip we introduced to the fans when giving a sneak peek of the album. The fans loved it, and we knew this song would be a highlight on the new album because it is classic BUTCHER BABIES. It has all the hallmarks of what a metal song should contain: Brutal vocals? Check. Crushing guitar riffs? Check. Pummeling double bass? Check. Guitar solo? CHECK.”

Leading femme fatales CARLA HARVEY and HEIDI SHEPHERD of the Los Angeles-based heavy metal group BUTCHER BABIES celebrate their decade-plus friendship by putting their own heavy metal spin on the hit single “Best Friend,” originally performed by rapper/singers Saweetie and Doja Cat. Alongside its release across digital streaming platforms today, Friday, October 28, BUTCHER BABIES have shared a music video which shows the duo engaging in various activities including donning black metal face paint and partying at a strip club. “During the last 15 as Butcher Babies, we have proved that a strong friendship can and will withstand all,” states SHEPHERD. “When I first heard this song by Saweetie & Doja Cat, I knew that we needed to be the ones to bring this into the metal world. With our un-breakable bond, Carla and I just grow stronger each time we play this to a live audience. It’s a true anthem of female power, screaming, ‘we are stronger together.’ I am truly honored to scream this song along my best friend.”

“Nearly fifteen years ago Heidi and I started Butcher Babies as best friends,” says HARVEY. “In a world where women are often pitted against each other, we instead chose to celebrate each other and grow together. The song ‘Best Friend’ is the perfect anthem to describe our relationship; as soon as we heard the Saweetie and Doja Cat original, we knew we were the only band that could cover it…it was written for us!”

Guitarist HENRY FLURY adds: “It was difficult to figure out how to approach covering this song. So, I told Heidi to get on the mic and just go for it. When I heard how ferocious it was, the riff just came to me. We had the song done in about 10 minutes.”

The single, out today, was inspired by the DC Comics character, Lobo, a heavy metal bounty hunter. BUTCHER BABIES are excited to return to the road this Fall as they have announced a headlining tour, ‘Butcher Babies Vs. Goliath,’ which will feature the high-octane band performing their critically acclaimed debut album, GOLIATH—released in 2013 via CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS—in its entirety along with recent hit singles and new material. The tour will stretch from August 28 to October 8 and will see the female-led band stop at several of the State’s largest rock festivals including Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life, Aftershock and more. Frontwomen Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey will continue to showcase fellow leading ladies by enlisting support from female-fronted acts Infected Rain and Stitched Up Heart. Kaleido will also appear on select dates. Tickets will go on-sale this Friday, July 16 at 10:00 A.M. (local time) at www.butcherbabies.com. “After almost a year and a half of dark stages, we are so thrilled to be going back out on the road,” shares HARVEY. “I cannot wait for that first electric moment in front of a live crowd again, celebrating the return of music together! I expect lots of happy tears in the mosh pit on this run. Making the return even sweeter, we’re bringing along some of our favorite women in metal. This is our first female fronted tour package in the United States, a display of girl power at its finest!”

The band kicked off 2021 by independently releasing a handful of newly energized singles produced and co-written by Matt Good (From First To Last), including the most recent track “Last Dance” in April. Along with previously released singles “Yorktown,” “Sleeping With The Enemy” and “Bottom of a Bottle (ft. Andy James),” all are to be featured on their upcoming self-released EP.
