Having already confirmed the return of “Decades Rock Live,” the show producers of FanTracks today announced the debut of the reboot of the series with the two-hour director’s cut of the “Decades Rock Live: Chicago & Friends” concert film airing Saturday, December 16 as a PPV event at FANTRACKS. The preview includes highlights of the special, along with a couple songs celebrating the holiday season. Watch the trailer here.

Fans who purchase the “Chicago & Friends Concert Film” will have unlimited viewing through the end of the year (it debuts Saturday, December 16 at 3:00 PM, ET and is available until Sunday, December 31). Options include a $2.99 subscription to FanTracks ALLROCK platform gets you “Decades Rock Live: Chicago & Friends” in 4K UHD, plus three months access to their library of classic concert films and prior “Decades” episodes; a $14.99 Pay Per View is also available. “The shows were amazing,” Summers, “Decades” series creator and co-founder of FanTracks, says. “We’re very excited to be premiering the Director’s Cut version on our FanTracks Platform.”

“The Decades shows in Atlantic City were truly magical for Chicago,” Chicago’s Robert Lamm says. “This special is at a whole new level for the band. It’s unlike any prior Chicago production ever filmed and we hope it’s something our fans will enjoy for many years to come.”

Recorded this past November at Ovation Hall at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ, the “Decades Rock Live: Chicago & Friends” marks the return of DECADES, the critically acclaimed and award-winning concert TV experience that features legendary bands performing with today’s hottest artists.

Producer Barry Summers worked directly with co-producer, Chicago’s Lee Loughnane and each guest artist, choosing the songs and arranging the selections for their participation. Loughnane also acted as music director and managed the post-production audio mix for the Director’s Cut, as he will for all subsequent releases.

“Decades Rock Live: Chicago & Friends” was filmed on a custom-built LED stage set featuring newly produced 3D animated visuals with over 30, 4k cameras; it’s an exclusive Chicago show unlike any other show they’ve ever performed on tour. The band perform their greatest hits with some very special guests, including guitar virtuoso Steve Vai paying tribute to the band’s original lead guitarist, Terry Kath. Other guests include Chris Daughtry, Robert Randolph, Robin Thicke, VoicePlay, Judith Hill and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. The special also celebrates the 55th Anniversary of Chicago’s groundbreaking double-Platinum debut album, CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY; the band play songs from the classic album that have not been played since the untimely death of Terry Kath, along with the band’s greatest hits. The set will also include “unplugged” versions of some of Chicago’s classic tunes.

Additional details are in motion for a theatrical release, a full film broadcast, and a PBS pledge-drive special all in 2024. More information will be announced in the new year.

Dave Damiani is an American singer, songwriter, producer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Having started as a bartender at the famed CHARLIE O’S JAZZ CLUB in Valley Village, CA, Dave Damiani had the opportunity to work, learn and become friends with some of the best musicians on the planet. Legends like Earl Palmer, Marty Harris, Ross Tompkins, Sam Most, Teddy Edwards, John Heard, Roy McCurdy, Frank Capp, Ernie McDaniel, Dini Clarke, Danny Grissett, George Gaffney, Mark Murphy, and Richie Cole (just to name a few) took time to mentor Dave Damiani, share stories and chord changes.

Shortly after receiving his master’s degree in Commercial Music from the California State University in Los Angeles, Dave began his pursuit to put together the perfect band with youth and style. His debut album “Watch What Happens” has been receiving worldwide airplay. Brad “Martini” Chambers was the first to discover Dave Damiani’s originality. Brad has been playing him constantly on www.martiniinthemorning.com since 2013. Additionally, receiving airplay on over 300 radio stations and on Satellite Radio XM 71 (Siriusly Sinatra). In January Dave Damiani hosted his own hour on Sirius XM Siriuisly Sinatra #71, while hosting his good friend and New Jersey brother Joe Piscopo swung the studio say, “hi”!

The arena-ready stomp of “What Do I Got To Lose?” was co-written by SEBASTIAN, Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge, Slash) and Elvis Baskette (Mammoth WVH, Slash), the latter of whom also served as the track’s producer. Guitars lock into a heart-thumping groove on the track as SEBASTIAN’s voice rings out on the refrain, “I’m holding on for judgment day.” The momentum gives way to a fret-burning lead. For the video, SEBASTIAN is joined by his former Skid Row bandmate, drummer Rob Affuso.

“To me, ‘What Do I Got To Lose?’ is the perfect sentiment for me right now,” SEBASTIAN laughs. “It’s an anthem for coming back and crushing it. It’s time to lay down the law and put the hammer down old school-style.”

For the release of “What Do I Got To Lose?” the singer, songwriter, author, Broadway star, and actor teamed up with Reigning Phoenix Music for its release. It marks SEBASTIAN’s first new music in ten years.

Today, December 1, MICKEY THOMAS of STARSHIP has released “A Classic Christmas,” a two-sided single (available digitally only, via Symphonic Distribution) on which he distinctively lights up such holiday gems as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” with his deeply soulful and soaring voice.

Having recorded only one Christmas song before—a bluesy/gospel version of “Silent Night” with the Elvin Bishop Band in 1976—MICKEY says, “I love traditional Christmas songs because most of them were written by fantastic old school writers. They all have a terrific sense for melody and usually have very creative rhyme schemes.”

Both songs were produced, mixed, and engineered by Dan Frizsell and recorded in East Iris Studios in Nashville with John Willis (guitars), David Dorn (keys), Mark Hill (bass), and Evan Hutchings (Drums). “The recording session was a fantastic experience and worked like a charm,” says MICKEY. “Dan Frizsell assembled an incredible group of players—some of the best studio musicians in Nashville. They were not only musical virtuosos but also funny as hell. I love the experience of walking into a studio and diving into the process with people you’ve never met or worked with. The chemistry was spot on from the get-go and we all had a blast recording the songs.”

About Mickey Thomas and STARSHIP:

Mickey Thomas is the owner of the soaring voice that propelled STARSHIP through the decade of the 80’s. With his soulful and compelling vocals, Mickey has established himself as one of Rock Music’s most recognizable stars.

Mickey made his mark in 1976 as lead vocalist on the mega-hit “Fooled Around And Fell In Love” with The Elvin Bishop Band. In 1979, Mickey joined Jefferson Starship as the lead vocalist, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin, and recorded a string of hits including “Jane”, “No Way Out”, “Find Your Way Back”, “Stranger”, and “Layin’ It on the Line”.

The group was renamed STARSHIP in 1985 and went on to record three #1 hit songs including “We Built This City”, “Sara”, and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now”, from the film, Mannequin, which also was an Academy Award nominee. Their hit “It’s Not Over ‘Til It’s Over” became Major League Baseball’s theme in 1987.
