Vocalist/guitarist Josh Kennedy, drummer Chico Diaz and bassist/backing vocalist Jordan Hoffman have continued to “lead(ing) the charge in bringing back melodic rock here in the 21st Century” (Loudwire) despite the onset of a global pandemic attempting to halt their momentum. The trio released their critically acclaimed sophomore album SUNSHINE in 2020 which saw them grace the cover of their hometown weekly paper Phoenix New Times (May 7, 2020) and achieve radio success with their first-ever Top 20 Billboard Active Rock single, title track “Sunshine,” as well as land four of the records previous singles in the Top 30.

Unable to tour due to the halt of the live entertainment industry, THE BLACK MOODS, kept writing new material and temporarily moved their makeshift home studio from AZ to Kennedy’s hometown of Wheaton, MO (population 690) to remotely record the new songs with Sunshine’s Grammy award-nominated producer Johnny K. (3 Doors Down, Disturbed, Pop Evil). They also enlisted legendary Grammy award-winning producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles) who worked with the band completely virtually as he was based in Canada using new, state-of-the-art computer technology. Stay tuned for details on the new album in coming weeks.

The first track from their as-yet-untitled third album, “She Gets Out,” was released across digital platforms on November 26 in conjunction with the release of its music video via Loudwire. THE BLACK MOODS—Tempe, Arizona-based modern classic rock trailblazers—are excitingly building on their success with “She Gets Out,” the newly released first track from their as-yet-untitled third full-length album due in spring 2022 (exact release TBA).

The song, with its mix of ringing electric and warm acoustic guitars, delivers a fresh, fiery update of a timeless sound and lyrically continues the storyline of the troubled character from the band’s Top 20 Billboard Active Rock single Sunshine” (also the title track from their most recent album released in 2020).

Watch the “She Gets Out” music video below or directly on YouTube HERE. Directed by Jeremy Simmons, it features concept scenes shot in Los Angeles with live and behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s return to the stage with a sold-out hometown show at The Marquee in Tempe this past May.

She Gets Out” was released last Friday, November 26 via Wit Hustle / The Orchard / Steelhorse Entertainment with an exclusive feature via Loudwire where the band also shared a list of their “Top 10 Best Sequel Songs.” Stream or download the single on all digital platforms here: https://orcd.co/shegetsout.

“‘She Gets Out,’ our newest song, is meant to be a continuation of the character from our last record ‘Sunshine,’” shares THE BLACK MOODS vocalist and guitarist JOSH KENNEDY. “In its title track, ‘Sunshine,’ she’s someone that’s struggling to deal with finding a way to change her life. With ‘She Gets Out,” she makes the decision to take a stand and make her life her own, no matter how scary or what the consequences might be.”

THE BLACK MOODS’ upcoming album was recorded at a makeshift home studio in the Ozarks (hometown of KENNEDY) with Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down)—who also produced their 2020 album SUNSHINE–and includes a remotely recorded track with legendary Grammy award-winning producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles) who was based in Canada.

SUNSHINE marked several career highlights for the trio despite being released amidst a global pandemic. It saw the band achieve a career highlight by achieving their first-ever Top 20 single, title track “Sunshine” (#16) as well as land three additional Top 30 singles (“Bad News” [#24], “Bella Donna” [#29] and “Whatcha Got[#30]). The band also released a fiery cover of one of their most esteemed musical icons–Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers—with the 1978 single, “I Need To Know,” which has received airplay on SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio show.

Known for their engaging live performance, which AZ Central praised stating, They’re absolutely on fire when it comes to their brand of pure and unadulterated hard rock… you get a dynamic show whether its 5 people or 5,000,” THE BLACK MOODS have been seen on stages across the nation with acts including The Doors’ Robbie Krieger, Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Whitesnake, The Dead Daisies, Collective Soul and The Gin Blossoms as well as recently being featured at this year’s Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA.

ROCK’N’ROLL TRIO

SEPT. 10–OCT.15

(Lineup [l-r]: Josh Kennedy (vocals, guitars), Jordan Hoffman (bass, backing vocals), Chico Diaz (drums, backing vocals);Photo Credit: Jim Louvau)

Born in the Arizona desert and reared on stages across North America, THE BLACK MOODS have been trailblazers for the ‘new wave of classic rock’ movement with their guitar-driven rock that delivers a fresh, fiery update of a timeless sound. The trio—vocalist/guitarist JOSH KENNEDY, drummer CHICO DIAZ and bassist/backing vocalist JORDAN HOFFMAN–are excited to announce they will embark on their first tour pegged to their critically acclaimed 2020 sophomore album SUNSHINE–recorded by Grammy-nominated producer Johnny K (Disturbed, 3 Doors Down)–due to the halt of live music last year as a result of the pandemic.

The band will join Australian-American rock collective THE DEAD DAISIES across the U.S. on their “Like No Other” tour this fall alongside rock & roll comedian Don Jamieson (VH1’s That Metal Show). It kicks off September 10 in Rockford, IL and stretches to the West Coast, wrapping in Seattle, WA October 15. The trek includes a stop for THE BLACK MOODS at Aftershock Festival October 9 in Sacramento, CA. Full dates are listed below and tickets are on sale now at www.theblackmoods.com.

In addition to performing hits from SUNSHINE, THE BLACK MOODS will give fans a first listen to new music taken from its much-anticipated follow-up expected to be released later this year. The as-yet-untitled album was recorded over the past year while the band was off the road due to the covid pandemic.

“We’re thrilled to be back on the road again and getting back to what we do best,” shared the band collectively. “Playing with our rock & roll heroes in The Dead Daisies is icing on the cake, and we can’t wait to trade jokes with Don Jamieson as well! We’re happy to finally be able to perform ‘Sunshine’ live and even more excited to share a sneak peek of new material from our upcoming album too. We will see you all on the road!”

SUNSHINE, released last May via Steelhorse Entertainment, marked several career highlights for THE BLACK MOODS including their first-ever Top 20 Billboard Active Rock charting single, title track “Sunshine” (which peaked at #16), a cover feature with their hometown local weekly newspaper, Phoenix New Times (May 7, 2020) and three additional Top 30 singles (“Bad News” [#24], “Bella Donna” [#29] and “Whatcha Got[#30]). The band also released a stirring music video for the album’s ballad “Home” which featured footage of the band and their families which captured the world’s feeling of struggling being unable to be with loved ones.

With touring at a halt, THE BLACK MOODS temporarily relocated their home studio from Phoenix to the Ozarks (where Kennedy was born and raised) and recorded their next album in the house of their label owner, once again with Karkazis, in addition to recording a track remotely using advanced virtual software with legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles) who was based in Canada. THE BLACK MOODS
REVEAL STIRRING VIDEO FOR BALLAD
“HOME”

‘SUNSHINE’

WATCH HERE

Modern classic rock trio THE BLACK MOODS tug at listeners’ heart strings with the touching music video for the ballad “Home” featured on their recent sophomore album SUNSHINE. The video for “Home” (as seen streaming above) shares the emotional struggle of being apart from loved ones due to rigorous touring and recording schedules bands endure with personal private footage from vocalist/guitarist JOSH KENNEDY, drummer CHICO DIAZ and bassist JORDAN HOFFMAN.

“I wrote ‘Home’ about being on the road, away from the ones you love and hoping they don’t grow up too fast or grow away from you before you get back,” shares KENNEDY. “We love touring and being in the studio, but there is a definite sacrifice you make when you do what we do.  That is exactly what ‘Home’ is about.”

THE BLACK MOODS are a story of success and growth despite a pandemic amidst all odds working against them. Refusing to postpone the release of SUNSHINE–which was recorded by Grammy-nominated producer Johnny “K” Karkazis–the band went full steam ahead, marking several career highlights along the way including their first-ever Top 20 Billboard Active Rock charting single, title track “Sunshine” at #16 and a cover feature with their hometown local weekly newspaper, Phoenix New Times (May 7, 2020). Three additional album singles made the Top 30 including “Bad News(#24), “Bella Donna” (#29) and “Whatcha Got (#30).

In the months following SUNSHINE’s release, the band moved their home studio from Phoenix to the Ozarks (where Kennedy was raised) and began working again with Karkazis on their next album in addition to remotely recording a forthcoming single with legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles). THE BLACK MOODS also recorded a fiery cover of “I Need To Know,” originally released in 1978 by one of their most esteemed musical idols, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. THE BLACK MOODS shared their version of the song October 23 across all digital platforms. Listen HERE.

“We love Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers,” shares THE BLACK MOODS vocalist/guitarist JOSH KENNEDY. “They have affected every part of what we are as a band and as songwriters.  I’m hard-pressed to find a song in their catalog I don’t like, but for some reason ‘I Need To Know’ sticks out for me.  That song is a BAND song.  You can hear that it takes each one of them to make it come alive.  That’s why I love playing it so much–it really brings the band together.  We’ve played it as part of our live shows for quite a while and had an absolute blast recording it in the studio.  There will never be another band like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.”

SUPPORTING
“MUSIC FOR ROCKY POINT” COVID RELIEF FUND
ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 20 @ 7:00 PM PT

LAND THEIR FIRST-EVER TOP 20 BILLBOARD ACTIVE ROCK RADIO SINGLE
WITH TITLE TRACK OF NEW ALBUM,
‘SUNSHINE’

BAND SHARE DETAILS ON RECORDING NEW SONG WITH LEGENDARY PRODUCER EDDIE KRAMER,
BEGIN TRACKING NEW ALBUM WITH JOHNNY “K” KARKAZIS

Arizona-based guitar-driven rock’n’roll trio THE BLACK MOODS have refused to let a pandemic slow down their momentum following the release of their sophomore album SUNSHINE on May 8 via Steelhorse Entertainment/The Fuel Music. Instead, they landed their first-ever Billboard’s Top 20 Active Rock hit with the album’s title track, currently at #16 and marking a career highlight for them. The success of the “Sunshine” track follows three previous singles from the album that debuted in the Active Rock chart’s Top 30: “Bad News” (#24), “Bella Donna” (#29) and “Whatcha Got at (#30).

THE BLACK MOODS have announced a livestream concert, “AUGUST ISOLATION,” to benefit the “MUSIC FOR ROCKY POINT” Covid Relief fund which supports the community of Puerto Peñasco, MX (aka Rocky Point) whose livelihood is dependent on tourism and has been drastically affected due to border closures and government restrictions on account of the pandemic. The livestream will be free to the public with an optional tip jar with all funds raised going to “MUSIC FOR ROCKY POINT.” The band will also donate 20% of all merch sales generated during the stream, which will include an exclusive signed event poster, limited to 100 copies.

“Rocky Point has become our second home over the years and where a lot of our early success began,” shares THE BLACK MOODS. “We have been playing shows there for almost a decade and our drummer Chico’s grandparents lived there during his childhood. With the pandemic, the city–which already had financial issues–is really suffering. We are proud and honored to be able to help support the ‘Music for Rocky Point’ fund through our music.”

THE BLACK MOODS have spent the past few months of quarantine in the Ozarks, hometown of vocalist/guitarist JOSH KENNEDY, where they transferred equipment from their home studio in Arizona to write and record material for their next album. The band have re-enlisted SUNSHINE‘s Grammy-Award nominated producer Johnny “K” Karkazis for the new album and recently completed the first recording session. The trio are also excited to share they have collaborated with legendary producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones) on a new track which was remotely recorded using software programs such as Zoom and Audio Movers. Stay tuned for updates and details on new music in the near future.

SUNSHINE bridges the gap between hard-rock’s past and present by merging guitar crunch and tight songcraft with urgent, blunt lyrics about romantic desire and conflict. Itwas lauded as “a fun, refreshingly simple record-the kind that will have critics talking about a return to a bygone era of rock ‘n’ roll” by Phoenix New Times who featured the band on their May cover issue.

Stream/download SUNSHINE online at http://hyperurl.co/TBM_Sunshine and/or get it on CD or Vinyl (available in standard black or limited-edition, hand-numbered and signed blue variant) at https://the-black-moods-shop.myshopify.com/.

“Woke up with my boots still on
Saw the cruel sunshine and that she was gone, It was a long night
It was a long night
Took a sip and I burnt my tongue
Scanned the dial there’s nothing but EDM on the radio
On the radio
With my back to the wall, I feel a smile coming on”

Arizona-based trio THE BLACK MOODS are a “straight up, loud and proud rock and roll band” as noted by Houston Press (4/17/19) who deliver a fresh take on ageless guitar-driven rock & roll on their sophomore album SUNSHINE due May 8 via Steelhorse Entertainment. The band released a new anthemic track “Throwing Shade” across all digital platforms on Friday, March 20, which follows three previously shared singles all of which debuted in the Mainstream Rock charts including “Bella Donna” and “Whatcha Got” in the Top 40 and “Bad News” in the Top 30.

SUNSHINE was recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Johnny Karkazis and features eight tracks filled with electric guitar, percussive stomp, and anthemic hooks. Karkazis travelled to THE BLACK MOODSPhoenix rehearsal space to set up a makeshift studio in order to capture the spirit of their zealous live show which Arizona Republic lauds as “the very definition of ‘swagger’.” (4/20/2016)

Following the release of their 2016 debut album Medicine (Another Century), THE BLACK MOODS won over fans across the U.S. with relentless touring alongside acts including Doors Robbie Krieger, Shinedown, Jane’s Addiction, Whitesnake, Adelitas Way, Otherwise and many more. The band were scheduled to be on tour this Spring with Otherwise, but due to the spread of coronavirus all dates have been postponed. Their next scheduled appearance will be at Epicenter Festival in May, unless otherwise noted.
