In advance of the June 7 release of her forthcoming album KICKSRICKIE LEE JONES has released the first track “Lonely People,” to radio. In its first week out, it has garnered early adds from KTBG–Kansas City, WYCE–Grand Rapids, WKZE–Red Hook NY; and spins from WDST–Woodstock NY; KRCL–Salt Lake City, UT; KRCB–Santa Rosa, CA; WHRV–Norfolk, VA, WUKY–Lexington KY, KUSH–Cushing OK and Americana Boogie Radio (internet station).

The insistent song of hope–her unique interpretation of the 70s classic by the group America–is the first release from her newest collection of songs from the great American songbook. JONES’ is that rare musician who has transcended the singer/songwriter mantle by incorporating different radio genres from the get-go and she continues that tradition on the forthcoming album. The album spans two decades (50s-70s) of pop, rock and jazz, presenting her unique and sophisticated interpretations of these songs.

It is fitting that one of the American treasures of songwriters should be comfortable with this diverse collection of the great songwriters of the 20th century–she is one of them. On KICKS, she brings emotion to sleeper album tracks like “My Fathers Gun”and her tongue-in-cheek humor to songs like “Houston.”

KICKS was created entirely in New Orleans, using local musicians, mixers and studios. Produced by RICKIE LEE JONES with her band-mate,vibraphonist Mike Dillionit features 10 songs of a highly infectious nature.Check out Nagasaki,” her traditional jazz offering of tight three-part harmonies, and “Bad Company,” where JONES cuts loose on electric guitar.

The album cover, by artist Peregrine Honigis a super-hero woman in boxing gloves. Sound like anyone we know? RICKIE LEE JONES, superhero, with a super weapon smile! “In times like these,”Miss Jones smiles,a smile can be subversive. Here is Rickie Lee‘s musical smile.”

Miss Jones’ own label, OSOD (other side of desire), will release KICKS with Thirty Tigers distributing. A pre-order of the self-released album is available here, along with a variety of official KICKS merchandise including t-shirts, posters, totes and other items. In addition, fans can pre-order the album via traditional sites: All Retail; Spotify; iTunes, Apple and Amazonall pre-orders receive the “Lonely People” instant grat track with the purchase of the pre-release of the album.

These efforts will assist in raising funds for the charity’s life-saving suicide awareness efforts which started at Rise Above Festival.

About Rise Above

“I started this cause as a tribute to anyone who has lost someone. If Rise Above does something to help one person reconsider the tragic choice of suicide, then it will be the greatest success of my career.”
–Shaun Morgan
Shaun Morgan, founder and frontman of the multi-platinum selling rock band Seether, founded Rise Above in 2012 in honor of his brother who died by suicide. The Rise Above Festival which ran for 5 years in Bangor, ME was the largest suicide prevention event in the world. Morgan was honored in 2016 with the “Artistic Expression” Award from the National Council for Behavioral Health at the Awards of Excellence in Las Vegas.

About SAVE
SAVE is the leading national nonprofit suicide prevention organization working to prevent suicide through public awareness, education and training. They develop best-practice-endorsed materials used around the world and are the only national suicide prevention organization to have developed an evidence-based program for schools. They also work with suicide survivors left behind after a suicide. Led by Executive Director Dr. Dan Reidenberg, SAVE has been certified by Best Charities of America as meeting the highest standards of accountability and responsibility for nonprofits. Of the 1 million charities in the country, only 5% meet the standards and less than 2,000 have been awarded the certification seal. Shaun Morgan’s dear brother Eugene lost his life to suicide in 2007. This cause means the world to him. SAVE representatives will be on site at Exit 111 with reading materials and exclusive SAVE merchandise available to purchase, with proceeds going directly back to the life-saving work they do.

In just shy of a week, rap rock harbinger HYRO THE HERO has announced an upcoming series of shows with nu-metal outfit P.O.D., a spot on Brooklyn‘s annual Afropunk Festival, a headlining gig for the official Epicenter Festival after-show, a spot on the inaugural Rockstar Energy Drink Disrupt Festival summer tour (The Used, Thrice, Circa Survive, Sum 41), and a guest spot on the latest single from DJ and EDM producer Crankdat, “Monster.” On top of this, HYRO THE HERO recently premiered the music video for the single “Never Back Down,” which Consequence of Sound praised for having “Rage Against the Machine-like verses with a melodic chorus.”

HYRO THE HERO will kick off his busy summer on May 3 in Jacksonville, FL at Welcome To Rockville before heading to Rockingham, NC on May 10 to perform at Epicenter Festival where he’ll also headline the official afterhours show with support from Wilson and Arrested Youth. He’ll then hop on a two-week jaunt with P.O.D. from May 12 to 24 as he makes his way to Rocklahoma on May 25 before getting his gaming on as he joins Trivium and Cane Hill at DreamHack in Dallas, TX on June 1. After taking a short break, he’ll return to the road with the Rockstar Energy Drink Disrupt Festival tour from June 21 to July 28. HYRO will then wrap up the summer dates with a stop at Afropunk Festival on August 24/25. A full list of dates is provided below; tickets are available with links and on-sale dates at

Q&A WITH HYRO THE HERO, 2019

After five years following the release of your debut album Birth, School, Work, Death, you’ve come back with a new album, new label and a reinvigorated message on modern day society. What happened over that time period to bring you to where you are today?

HYRO: The time period in between now and my last album was one of growth and patience, I took some time to improve musically and let the game come to me. I dove into different genres, learned to produce, learn song structure and found ways I could bring my message to the people in the most powerful way possible. That is why Flagged Channel is so important to me, it’s the re-introduction of Hyro The Hero.

Over the past year there’s been a resurgence of bands in the ‘rap rock’ genre with up-and-coming artists including yourself, Fever 333, HO99O9, and even those like Lil Peep and Post Malone who’ve gained commercial success. While most have been likened to taking influence from Rage Against the Machine, Limp Bizkit, Korn – whose guitarist Munky guested on your album-, etc…what do you feel you bring to the table with FLAGGED CHANNEL? How do you stand out from the rest?

HYRO: It has been amazing seeing the genre grow the way it has been. I’ve been a man on a mission since the MySpace days blending the rock and rap sound. It’s what started me off back in 2005 when I was sampling sick riffs and breakdowns and rapping to them with hip hop beats on my first mixtape, Gangsta Rock.

The catalyst for my music style comes from an emotional place. My powerful words need very powerful music behind them. All of this combined with my talent of rocking the mic lyrically like no other is what separates me from the rest.
Do you feel there’s still a negative association with the term ‘rap rock’ in the public perspective? If so, why do you feel this is the case? Does that ever make you feel pressured to have to constantly elaborate or explain your music when talking to others?

HYRO: Yeah, there is still a negative connotation with it, but with all these sick bands we have now and the diverse styles of it–thatis going to change real soon. There is a coolness to it like never before which comes from influence from the trap sound that is popular in this day and age–the style bleeds over.

I’m proud to tell people about it because I know when they listen, they are gonna become instant fans.

You’ve also dabbled a bit in the EDM scene with a remix contest for your single “Bullet” and most recently you appeared on a track with Crankdat, “Monster.”  Can you share how that came about?

HYRO: My lawyer Eric German set it up! He shows me so much love and always has his ear out for stuff he knows I would be good on. Once the song was sent, I killed it and Crankdat loved it. It was dope because Crankdat would hum little ideas through voice text message so I could go in and try them out so he would have more to play with while building the track.

How do you feel that your music relates or overlaps with fans of that genre? Are you a fan of EDM music?

HYRO: It’s all energy. Once I am giving the people the energy they desire, it will translate perfectly. We are in a turn-up era, people want loud and energetic feelings. The only thing I believe is missing is true emotion in rapping today. Eminem and Tupac, for example, had that. I believe I bring that part back, so no matter what genre I take part in, it will hit the audience hard.

Everyone claims their live show is “energetic,” “insane” or “off the walls,” but your performance literally is “off the walls,” as you’re no stranger to climbing stage scaffoldings, jumping off amps, hanging off stairs and even flying off the stage itself. Can you share with us what goes through your mind when you’re on stage?

HYRO: Haha, Yea, I’m actually hurt right now. My ankle is f*cked up, but adrenaline fixes that every time I’m on stage. The thing with me is I’m spitting so much lyrics from my heart that I have no choice but to emotionally be involved in it–it’s spiritual for me and an expression I get to let out. I’m so chill in real life that people can’t believe it’s me on stage. Something takes over and my body just does what it feels.

Speaking of stages, you’ve played everything from bars and clubs to amphitheaters and huge festivals, and even a cruise ship! So, tell us… does size matter?

HYRO: Size of the place doesn’t matter to me so long as I’m in front of people. I feel blessed to rock at festivals with lots of people and blessed to be intimate with fans up close rocking small stages. Either way it goes, I want each person to feel I’m talking directly to them.
You’ve got a busy summer. You’re doing a run of dates with P.O.D.,then you’re heading out on the new Rockstar Energy Disrupt Festival and in between all that you’ll be on some of the biggest festivals like Afropunk, Welcome to Rockville, Rocklahoma, and Epicenter. How does that feel?

HYRO: Absolutely incredible, dream come true type sh*t. Words can’t begin to describe it.
What else in the works for HYRO THE HERO?

HYRO: I’m working on new music and will be focused on hitting the road this summer with all of these shows lined up. I just want to do an amazing job with my band and kill every show, all while leaving people with feeling like they got a message after seeing my set.

HYRO THE HERO refuses to slow down or back down following a highly energized sold-out performance in February in Los Angeles, CA with Nothing More and Of Mice & Men, along with a boat-rocking set on the ShipRocked Cruise earlier this year. He’s returned with a new music video for the pulverizing new single, “Never Back Down.”

Featuring his signature blend of infectious modern rock riffs overlaid with invigorating rap vocals, which Uncivil Revolt described as being “a combination between Tupac and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine,” HYRO THE HERO stays true to himself in the video for “Never Back Down.”

HYRO further elaborates stating, “Behind the scenes was so much fun with me and my band taking on different roles and expressing the fight of keeping your integrity and not falling prey to what is hot now. I love making music and want to see it rise to the top and staying true to myself in the process, without ever backing down.”

Directed by Brian Cox of Flarelight Films (Hollywood Undead, Butcher Babies), “Never Back Down” can be seen streaming on Consequence of Sound HERE who state, “‘Never Back Down’ is aggressive throughout, showing Hyro’s love of hip-hop and rock,” or stream it directly below:

With the successful release of EVERYTHING IS FINE, the debut full-length studio album from AMIGO THE DEVIL (born under the name Danny Kiranos) last October–which entered the Billboard Americana Folk charts in the Top 30 at #27-KIRANOS has captivated listeners with his ability to make otherwise grisly lyrical content, such as serial killers and death, seem easygoing. Take for example his hit single “Hell And You,” which has amassed 1.3+ million streams on Spotify and sparked a cult movement of hundreds of fans worldwide inking its lyrics on their skin.
Possessing what LA Weekly described as “one of the most unique voices in music…a sepulchral beauty, acid wit and ingenious arrangements,” KIRANOS has launched a pre-order for the much-anticipated release of his debut EP, Volume 1, on vinyl. The vinyl will feature the EP’s 10 tracks remastered and is available for pre-order now at https://amigothedevil.indiemerch.com.
Bundle options include:
– Volume 1 LP paired with a rarities cassette (a collection of audio tracks and b-sides handpicked by AMIGO THE DEVIL) and a collectible 2.5″x3.5″ print set of the original EP artwork
– All of the above PLUS a RARE limited-edition Fine Art Print (100 total) including 1 18″x24″ print of your choice OR all 3 18″x24″ prints hand numbered and signed by AMIGO THE DEVIL and artist Justin Pape (25 total).
AMIGO THE DEVIL recently stopped by the Bridge City Sessions studio in Portland, OR to perform four acoustic tracks including “Cocaine and Abel,” “First Day Of The End Of My Life,” “I Hope Your Husband Dies” and “One Kind of People.”

SERENADES LISTENERS WITH NEW VIDEO,
“HELL AND YOU”
U.S. TOUR WITH DROPKICK MURPHYS STARTS THIS WEEKEND, FEBRUARY 15 – MARCH 15

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, dark folk artist AMIGO THE DEVIL sends his sentiments with a serenading video playthrough of his fan-favorite and critically acclaimed single, “Hell And You” which has amassed over 1.3 million streams on Spotify and has sparked its own cult following of sorts with hundreds of fans inking their skins with its lyrics.
Inviting you to join him for a solo performance in the grotto behind his house, AMIGO THE DEVIL entices viewers with menacing glances matching the strum of each banjo note as he croons, “I’d rot in hell with you, if you’d just ask me to.” And if you’ve ever been to an AMIGO THE DEVIL show, you can probably imagine hearing a crowd of people merrily and carefreely chanting alongside him as he continues, “I love the sh*tty things we do together, live with me in this sin forever, Hell and you.”
Watch (and sing-along at home) to “Hell And You” below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpP-H0PQWUw
Combining elements of singer/songwriter, folk and country music with the dark and gruesome thematic of rock/metal, AMIGO THE DEVIL (born under the name Danny Kiranos) has been extensively touring the U.S. with his one man show in support of his debut full-length studio album, Everything Is Fine, which debuted at #27 on Billboard’s Americana Folk charts. You can stream and/or download the album -produced by Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot, Glassjaw) and featuring drummer Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine, Prophets of Rage)- here:

Additional festival and one-off dates will take place including a show with the avant-garde electronic percussion group Itchy-O and festivals including Sonic Temple, Epicenter, Welcome To Rockville, Impact Music Festival and more.
